Xylem: An AVEDA Lifestyle Salon-Spa

I have been coming to Xylem Salon for 7 years now, with Alen being my amazing stylist! Every time Alen highlights, cuts and styles my hair, I'm "Over the Moon " with delight. 7 years ago, my baby fine hair was thin and severely damaged due to over processing from a prior stylist. Today my hair is thicker, bouncier and very healthy due to Alen's precise and gentle highlight processing. Alen, you are a Master at your craft and always make me feel beautiful! Brittany and Tatiana are both so helpful and skilled in what they do. I started coming here before COVID and I am so happy to return to this beautiful and clean salon. This salon is located right in downtown Monrovia. There is free street parking available. Customers are offered bottled water which is always nice. I like to bring my laptop and connect to the WI-FI to get some work done or write Yelp reviews while I am waiting and doing my hair. The owner, Teresa is super friendly as well. She's the second generation owner of this business and I love supporting women-owned businesses. This one is particularly easy to do when they do such a good job! I have had hair cuts, blow outs, and coloring done here. I have been happy with the service and results!

Decided to treat myself to a haircut before my birthday. I scheduled an appointment with the highly recommended stylist Alen. As an ex hairdresser I should've headed for the exit when he started to comb through my hair after a wash. His confidence was that of a cosmetology student who's servicing his first client. I gave him the benefit of the doubt. I showed him a pic of what I wanted. I walked out looking like an Oompah Loompah. It was my first ever bad haircut experience! I could've told him I didn't like it, but thought if I allow him to keep cutting then I would be left with less hair to fix on my own. Eye opening reminder why it's been years since I've stepped foot in a salon. So from now on, I will be my own hairdresser. Epic fail!!

Alen is truly one of the most stylish experienced and confident yet humble hairdressers I've had the pleasure to have as my hairdresser. His eye for hair cut and color is truly exceptional. Not only does he do a great job with hair but he makes you feel so comfortable at the salon. The staff is equally professional yet fun to be around. I highly recommend this salon in the heart of Monrovia!

I recently got my hair done by Erika at this salon. For starters, this salon is located in Old Town Monrovia, closer to the Foothill side. The salon is well kept and has primarily Aveda products for sale.

Upon entry, Erika greeted me right away and got me seated in her chair. I had shown her through messaging previously what I was aiming for, so she was ready to get started.

She is super friendly, attentive, and makes sure that you are happy with your experience at this salon.

I opted for a dusty lavender this time around, and she warned me that she would try to achieve it in one sitting, but was honest that she didn't want to over-process my hair as well in one sitting. After my hair was bleached, tone, dyed, washed, and blow-dried, I saw the colors that I had hope for! She was able to get as close as possible to what I wanted. Side note: my hair is really black, so I knew it was going to be hard to achieve this. She mentioned that she wanted me to come back again for another session to fully achieve the look, but I'm already pretty satisfied. I will go back and see her regardless to see what her vision on my hair will be!

Prices here are also fair for what you get. I know some salons for this type of color are charging outrageous prices, but for sure you won't be dealing with that here.

Went in for a hydration facial after they sent me a promotion for my birthday. I've actually never had a professional facial before but I'm SO glad I went. Annie was super sweet, knowledgeable, and made the experience so relaxing and enjoyable. I learned a lot about my skin and got to take home some great products as well!

I bought Aveda hair products from this salon for $196 and unfortunately the products irritated my scalp. They have a return policy of 30 days which I understand but disappointed that there were no other options to return the products (particularly since they were expensive). Also, when I initially purchased the products I asked for the receipt twice but they did not email it like they said they would.

I went for the first time for a scalp treatment and had the pleasure of being helped by Shannon! It was the best scalp treatment I've ever had, she was very thorough in explaining the process of what she was doing and the benefits of each product. I left feeling great! Thank you!!

I recently relocated to Monrovia and was in need of a new salon and hair stylist. I have previously had some awful cuts, and some sub par stylists. One stylist cut my hair so horribly it took a year to even it out and get it healthy again.

I picked Xylem based on the online reviews I have read as well as it being an Aveda salon which I've had some good experiences with.

Scheduling my appointment was easy, Tyne receptionist was friendly and very helpful. They asked questions about my hair in preparation for the cut which I loved. It made me feel like they genuinely care about their clients.

Mary was my stylist and I could not have been happier. She had great suggestions but didn't force anything upon me. She gave honest opinions and recommendations which I freely appreciated. Normally I'm very quiet but Mary made me feel more open and made me feel like she had a genuine interest in what I had to say. She was funny easy to converse with, and not overwhelming. My cut was perfect, exactly what I needed and came out looking amazing. Normally my previous stylist would blow dry my hair with a round brush and style it and I never liked the way it looked. I normally straighten my hair. Mary used a round brush and new styling technique which I LOVED. My hair looked so cute and I was so happy.

I will definitely be going back to Mary and am so very pleased with my cut. I have the best things to say about Xylem. The other stylists and receptionist were very nice as well. No
