Wahoo! Grill

Finally went to Wahoo for my ladies birthday and we loved it. It's a very rainy day so they were kind of slow so the vibe so extremely chill. We ended up sitting at the bar since there wasn't anyone in there. We got a glass of wine and ordered the meatball and swordfish w/ scallops.

The homemade pork and beef meatball was super delicious! It came with a rich creamy polenta. The swordfish and scallops definitely were worth it. It came with a garlic potato cake.

Had a nice dinner last night. First time there. We were seated near the open kitchen. Was fun to see the different dishes coming out.
Got the tuna tartar and it was very yummy. Three of the pieces of tuna were really tough and I'm not sure why. I've never had tough to eat tuna in a tartar before.
I got the steak. Was good but needed salt. The sauce it came with was very good.
I asked our server for some sea salt. I should have taken a photo of the tiny amount she brought me in a small dish. I laughed thinking it was a joke!
Also my potatoes were definitely from a box. They really had no flavor and I was disappointed in the texture and taste coming from this type of establishment.
My guy liked his scallop entree and the burrata and strawberry salad was really tasty!
Valet parking outside only $4. Very nice!

One of those places I'd seen a million times but had never visited. Had no problem getting a same-day reservation on their website. Having never been there before, I chose the main dining room. Food-wise, I absolutely loved the sous-vide octopus starter. I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about it being served with hummus but now I'm wondering why I've had octopus without it all this time. For dinner I had the seared halibut -- again, outstanding. The risotto could have done without the sundried tomatoes, however. Just the artichokes and mushrooms plus the pesto sauce would have been enough. My bf had the pork chop and remarked that it was a bit dry and sweet, even though he had subbed the sweet potato side for regular potatoes.

In terms of ambiance, we were a little disappointed with how close the tables are to each other. The restaurant was far from packed and yet we were seated right next to a table of four. There was a curtain separating us on the other side from that set of diners, but we could still hear everything that was said at both tables. Our waitress was very nice and friendly. It seemed like it took a while for things to come out, but that also could have been deliberate. A nice reprieve from the many places we've been to where you're basically rushed out the door. We ended up doing the $4 valet because it was dark and we weren't sure where else we could park, so just something to factor in for a future visit.

Off the beaten path Wahoo! Grill was a delight. Saturday evening was busy so it's best you make a reservation using their website. The inside was very intimate and the patio was very cute! There was actually a wedding reception happening at that time and the decor set up was beautifully tranquil. We were seated at the 'chef's table' that was located right in front of the open kitchen. We were able to see how the kitchen was run and view all the magic. I definitely felt like I was right inside the food network! Our waitress Vera was a gem and the manager Brett was super! The way Brett brought the drinks to the table was pure talent! Had to capture that (see photo). The food was amazingly prepared and presented and the taste was heavenly! Cant wait to go back!

Wonderful grilled sea bass, flavorful crab bisque and a death by chocolate flourless cake that was surprisingly light

How have I lived in Atlanta my whole life and not known this place existed

First of all -- the decor is stunning, they were just switching over for the holiday, a whole vibe

We started off with the focaccia bread and fried calamari , followed by the pork chop and risotto

Everything was delicious -- I've already devoured my leftovers our server was very attentive and had good recommendations throughout the night, the food came out quickly and the drinks were good!

This is one of my favorite restaurants and now it's holds an even bigger spot in my heart because my boyfriend proposed to me this night! The food is always delicious and the service is great. The atmosphere is so cute. Especially the garden patio. Perfect for date night or proposing! I love this place and they made my night so special! I said "Yes". Thank you again!

This restaurant is beautiful! It has a lovely ambiance and the indoor garden room and garden patio are so pretty. The service is excellent and the staff is very friendly! The food is spectacular and I highly recommend the grilled wahoo Sofrito and the chef's choice focaccia. I'll definitely be back!

Nestled in a secret garden off College Ave, Wahoo! Grill has been serving Decatur for 18 years and we know why they love it. The moment you walk in the door you're greeted with an indoor-outdoor vibe, in the main dining space, while outside a large patio that feels secluded. On the menu, a wide variety of options abound from Wahoo fish to lamb to southern staples, as well as a great cocktail menu and desserts. Let's explore. 

Starting with their signature Grilled Wahoo Sofrito that's tender yet meaty and topped with a tomato forward Spanish sofrito sauce, earthy, crunchy asparagus, and an earthy, seasoned savory risotto underneath. OR go for their new menu item, the grilled half rack of lamb, our favorite bite of the day! Succulent and tender, well-seasoned lamb, the rhubarb sauce underneath is sweet and juxtaposed the savory meat. Then, paired with a sharp and herbaceous potatoes au gratin and earthy asparagus!  

Plus, Wahoo! Grill's cocktail program is "perfection" with this Pina en la pina is a fresh and tangy pina colada style drink with a great tang, cream, and dash of nutmeg. And for the finale, make sure to sample the bread pudding; it's grandmother's recipe! It is warm and rich, stuffed with raisins topped with a creamy bourbon glaze. OMG! 

Other menu highlights include the Pimento cheese Fritters! They are sinful crispy bites stuffed with pimento cheese inside then a sharp and a sweet spicy tomato sauce underneath! Also, their solid fried green tomatoes that are crispy, perfectly breaded outside, slightly crisp yet tender tomato inside, then a balsamic drizzle for brightness and cool goat cheese to round out the bite. They typically come with shrimp, but we got without.  

Fried chicken, a staple of Wahoo! Grill's menu, is plump and tender, and has a great crunch outside. Paired with collard greens that are rich, spicy and savory, as well as crunchy warm fries. Finish it off with, A crime of passion, an herbaceous and floral gin cocktail mixed with juicy passion fruit and lime, then a rose petal rim to dress it up!

Amazing food, service and atmosphere. Fresh ingredients and they don't hesitate to make a few edits where allergies are concerned. The bar is always solid! Def stop by.
