True to form. It is a dive bar, and yeah, hipsters go to dive bars. After all it is the cool thing to do, go against the grain, act like you don't have money. Who cares about the crowd?
Go here if you want cheap strong drinks, great bartenders, above average bar food, and uncrowded pool tables.
What else do you need from a bar?

I can fit in anywhere.  Be it a rodeo, an art exhibit, or a ballet,  I can always find something I like about it even if it's not my thing.

So when someone mentioned going to Wreck Room (WR) in Bushwick, I was wondering if I would finally be out of my element.  Growing up in NYC you knew Bushwick wasn't for the weak.

Turns out Bushwick was fine.  I didn't feel threatened for a second. Upon entering WR, it became quite clear that this wasn't my crowd.  To put it bluntly, it was a hipster crowd.  Luckily for me it was the nonviolent hipster crowd that night, cause I was seriously out numbered.  Sorry, If you roll up to the bar on your bicycle, I ain't ascared.  Anyway, I liked being the odd man out.  It gave me a feeling of empowerment.

After having a drink or two, noshing on some fish and chips, and taking note of my surrounding,  I realized I fit in just fine.  Those crazy hipsters are people too.  What helped was the WR blaring hip hop from the early/mid 90's.  Maybe, just maybe, these hipsters and I aren't so different.

I really enjoyed the car wreck theme of the bar and was feeling the floor to ceiling tagged up men's room.

A friend and I decided to try the local bar near where we are staying and came upon the Wreck Room. They have beer on tap but not pitchers. I wanted to try the Brooklyn Lager on tap but they were out. So I got some other beer that I don't remember. The glass or beer was not cold so the beer wasn't very pleasurable so I just handed it off to my friend to finish it off for me.

I will say that the environment inside isn't so bad. There are pool tables and the bar is dark inside. The atmosphere is a plus. Perhaps if you're not a beer drinker then this place may not be so bad. Apparently their other drinks are cheap. I'm simply judging this from the beer experience.

Yes, I also enjoy cheap drinks and the wreck room definitely serves cheap drinks.  Personally I would rather pay a few extra bucks for a COLD beer.  We came in for a bite and a few drinks for a friend of mines last night in NY and I feel pretty bad for having sent her off with this place being her last memory.  The food was with out a doubt the worst I have ever eaten anywhere.  Just Nasty.

Maybe Yersovan encountered the same hipster chick who tended bar the night I was here. Pretty much immediately, she was hitting on the dude I've been antsing to go out with for months. Fail.

Even though the rum & cokes I had were standard to somewhat above par... No tip for you, twit! I'm sure it can be boring at 1.30 on a rainy Thursday night, but as others have mentioned the Wreck Room seems to attract a variety of people to its dark interior and pool tables.

Another visit might earn this place another star.

Our beers were warm. Our fries were cold. The music was electronica, courtesy of Pandora, for three hours until "Gin & Juice" came on when we hit the exit. Thank god my company was good or else I might have totally lost my faith in this trashy little bar. I've had a great time here previously, attempting to play pool and meeting cool new kids and chatting with the metalhead bartender, but really? A twenty minute wait for cold french fries?

Try harder, Wreck Room. I don't want to have to take this party to Beauty Bar (seriously, don't make me start going there!).

So my review is based on currently being a solo-flyer at bars, and so far this is my favorite neighborhood place. Somehow I always stay a little too long and drink a little too much, but that's the sign of a good night, right? Their drinks are cheap and the bartenders are always welcoming.

The first time I went here was bingo night, and I won myself a frothy can of Genesee. There was something about "winning" a 2-dollar can of beer that made me feel right at home. I couldn't help it.

Also, their sandwiches are pretty tasty, and I saw someone order nachos once that made me stare with (possibly creepy) envy.

I haven't seen any shows there yet, and I am terrible at pool, but this is my favorite after-work unwinder around, and I always end up in interesting conversations here. I did once meet a guy who thought that the place was "weird and sad," but he seemed like kind of a d-bag anyway.

Best bar in Bushwick, hands down.  A total dive bar, you'll somehow feel right at home the second you walk in.

Cheap drinks, awesome (and sometimes cute) bartenders, decent food of great variety, good music, pool tables, dance floor, shows.  What's not to love?

You'll always see a pal at this place.  It's a standard for the neighbourhood.  And a great one to have.  I would move back to Bushwick just to be closer to this place.  Wreck Room + Life Cafe (across the street) are a deadly combo.

This place is hands down one of the best if not the best in the neighborhood. My friend took me here the other night and it just felt like I had slipped a perfect glove on. I had this really awesome Thai Salad, and the drinks were good and cheap too.

I couldn't get over the menagerie of people, as well as the freestyle dance music (which I love and don't hear nearly enough)!

All in my very own hood, under my nose, will take more people here, oh there is pool too!

Uneven pool tables with warped sticks that occasionally steal the cue ball?  Check.

Dingy, smelly, graffiti-blasted bathrooms?  Check.

Repurposed 8-way leather Cadillac seats for the ultimate in booth lounging?  Check.

Like others have stated, wreck room is a dive in the best sense of the word.  You can catch a genuine buzz with $10 (two high-life tall-boys with jim beam's back).  The bartenders are friendly which is particularly nice and unexpected in this bastion of hipster indifference.  We showed up a couple of weeks ago and found a Bingo game for free shots in full swing.  Hard to beat fun on a weeknight.

I went to the Wreck Room last night and it was great. The DJ was on point and you gotta love the decor. When was the last time you saw the hood or bumper of a car mounted to the wall?

The fish and chips was great and so was the chips and salsa.

I will definitely go back!

So $5 for a highlife and a shot of jim beam? You call it a 'highbeam?' That's clever. And this place is called 'The Wreck Room' and you have wrecked front ends of cars on the wall? I guess that is also sorta, kind of clever. With drink specials like that, I felt like I was back in gainesville, Fl.

Unfortunately I have to say that I was underwhelmed with their Korean Chicken sandwich. It was just ok. Another promising item on the menu was the fried mac n' cheese sticks. Again, they were pretty underwhelming. No flavor. Sigh. Stick to the drinks, eat elsewhere.

Still, cheap drinks give this place 3 Stars.

This place is the BOMB and I wish it were in San Francisco, where I live. It is divey, the staff is supremely friendly, the drinks are awesomely cheap and the food is totally delicious in a heart-attack-on-a-plate kind of way. Fried mac and cheese? Oh yes! Fried pickles? Yes please!

There are pool tables and in the back they have bands, which is cool. The decor is cool, a total chill, dirty, punk rawk feeling kind of bar. Yes!

The neighborhood is s bit dodgy but nobody bothered us as we walked down the street and chatted with all the folks sitting out on their stoops drinking 40's and smoking crack or weed. They were friendly folks, but I wouldn't roll with my grandma down here.

Definitely the best bar in the neighborhood. It's down and dirty, original in it's decor, and has two nice pool tables. The kitchen is usually hit opposed to a miss. If you want a genuine Brooklyn bar, this is a crucial stop.

This is a great neighborhood bar, where most people who are there are regulars. The reason people keep going back is because the bar tenders are all really nice, they dont skimp on drinks, and they have amazing food (even if it is bar food). The infamous Korean sandwich (chicken or tofu), fish and chips, or sliders, whatever is on their menu, you can bet it's going to taste good.

First off this place is in the middle of nowhere so be forewarned. And don't do what I did. Don't go to another bar first, get tipsy, and decide to walk by yourself at 10pm to this bar. Not smart. The whole time I'm walking I'm thinking The Silence of the Lambs serial killer is going to abducted me and wear my skin as a coat. But I made it to the bar safe and sound.

I ordered my standard vodka and cranberry juice, which came to $4. That was by far the cheapest drink I have ever had. So cheap in fact it made me mad that I was getting tipsy from $7 drinks earlier. On this particular Saturday night there were six people there, eight if you count the two bartenders. The hip hop music played in the background, a pool table in the middle of the bar, and comfy booth sitting makes this place have a definite laid back, bring your friends, and hang out all night vibe.

The bartender who served me would address me as sweetie so he got extra girl points for that. As much as this place makes you forget what time it is because you just want to stay there and chill out. I headed back to my apartment. But don't worry I walked extra fast in my now drunk state to avoid being killed by Freddy Krueger or Jason or Anthony Hopkins.

This place is pretty pretentious and standoffish for what it is, but that's kinda how "East Williamsburg" rolls.  Drinks aren't too pricey though.

Go here to pick up pathetic hipsters (if you abuse them, they will sleep with you) or maybe get loaded before a "loft party".  Trust me, you'll need it!

Not a great beer/liquor selection, but the drinks are cheap and well-poured by surly and entertaining bartenders.

The bar menu, however, is the real star. I have no idea what ingredients like "sundried tomato aioli" and "horseradish sour cream" are doing at a place like this. The incongruity is mind-boggling. And delicious.

This place racks up the stars for the several veg options (the portobello sandwich is incredible), and the unabashedly unhealthy drunk food. Hello, deep-fried mac 'n cheese!

My only complaint food-wise is that the fried pickles aren't quite the real southern deal--the pickles are too thick as is the batter. But I still managed to eat the entire serving. I blame the cheap drinks.

Cool place to take over with your crew if you want to get out for a bit and chill someplace other than your couch.

Pool table, booths [with super comfy airplane seats], a new kitchen, and adult swim playing-- please check this out if you live in the neighborhood. Its the kind of place for "locals"--aka you and your neighbors.  Drink specials rock during happy hour, and then afterwards you can get a beer for $3-- not bad.

Plus its right across from life cafe, so you can easily hop between the two.

Finally checked this place out after living in the neighborhood for over a month... I had kindof avoided it thinking that the name suggested a seriously divey establishment, but was pleasantly surprised with its laid-back hip neighborhood vibe and great music (played off a laptop, chosen by the bartenders so it varies)...

The pool tables aren't in GREAT shape, but at $1 a game, I am sold. I've been on a Saturday night and on a random weeknight, and we were able to get a table without much wait, and were able to play a bunch of games without feeling annoying...

I am seriously psyched to have this place nearby, although I did lose 50 cents in the pinball machine, and the fake guiness I drank was enough to have me staggering home. boo. perhaps that has more to do with my crap tolerance than the wreck itself....

I kind of forgot about this place. Just recently went back after about a year since my last visit. Not much has changed, still the middle of nowhere.

Extremely cheap beers and relatively low key. Typically music is played off a MacBook and an awful band will play in the backroom (awful in a good way though). It's really relaxed and I managed to play one of my best games of pool yet.

The 2 times I've gone it was to meet up with some people, can't say I would trek out there solely for it.

Something about the way this place was decorated really sold me. It was a mixture of graffiti/skateboard and Goth-Victorianism aesthetic. Interesting concept. The place was really spacious, bartender seemed laid back, and had a great pool table area. Seemed like a pretty good place to hold a conversation over a drink, too.

I love this place. It's huge. It's a dive bar with the fronts of old cars hanging on the wall. Lots of seating. Some room to dance if you're into that. Pool tables that no one uses. A few booths made out of old car seats.

The mix of people is cool, you'll see legit bikers along with locals along with hipsters etc. They have punk and metal shows in a back room area sometimes but I've never been to one.

And the food here is actually really great. They have an impressive menu, I've gone in and just gotten food in the afternoon. The BLT is one of the best I've had.

My only complaint is that sometimes the music is unnecessarily loud for the atmosphere you'd expect, but they'd probably turn it down if you asked.

Also almost forgot they have their own version of "Jack and Back" which is miller high life and Jim Beam, so extra bonus points from me.

we've been getting take out from this place, decent food for the price and the area until last night when the hipster delivery girl texted us at midnight (5 hours after dropping off our food) telling us never to order food from the Wreck ever again because we gave her $2 on a $25 delivery order.

first of all, if you don't want our business don't drop your delivery menus off on this side of flushing because we are not trust fund hipsters living in lofts, my building is comprised of mostly spanish families

my hispanic delivery boy from our favorite local restaurant is 5 times as fast as you and delivers with a smile and we give him $2 on anything under 25 . . .

ugh! never eating or ordering from here ever again

this place is the shit.  as in, i love it, and it is shitty.  (peep the restrooms at 3am friday... and don't say you weren't warned!)  perhaps because of that, the wreck attracts a pretty diverse clientele for a bushwick bar-- or any bar, really.  i don't know of many other places where bike messengers, crust punks, cholas, hipsters, off-duty cops, metalheads, hiphoppers, artists, and the occasional bewildered tourist(?!) all party together, and all seem to like each other and get along.  it's like the best case scenario of gentrification.  i love it best on late-nite friday and saturday, when an enthusiastic dance party inevitably breaks out.  also, a lot of people hook up here.  i mean, so i've heard.

and YES, their new-ish food menu is excellent, and you can nom it until 2am!  try the korean sandwich.

drinks are cheap but still standard prices for the area.  also, my fav bartenders have moved on to cleaner pastures and the current ones are pretty stingy with the buy-backs... you can drink all night and you can bet your bushwick ass that they will all end up on your tab.  maybe it's the economy?  i mention this mostly because recently one of the car fenders they have precariously hanging on the wall FELL ON ME.  it dinged me up a bit too.  and i still got no breaks on the beers.  at least i have a story that is funny-- maybe it would not have been as funny if i got a concussion.  ATTN: wreck room mgmt-- it takes more than a couple of nails to safely secure the front of a car to a brick wall!!!

so, if you are the kind of person who likes a bit of risky with your whiskey, and you are down with getting wrecked, either from cheap drinks or from falling car parts, the wreck is your JAM!  and a bushwick institution.  may its toilets always flush at least a little bit.

How much more are you gonna torture me?  Judging from the name, I'd have to say that this bar is right up my alley!  If only my alley was this close to the Wreck Room.  This place is spacious considering that they even have a back room for bands!  This bar caters to mostly local "hardcore" bands.  I've still haven't seen a "regular" indie show here.  The drink prices are unbeatable!  $5 for a 16 ounce Miller + a shot of Jim Beam!!!!  Yes...this is my favorite starting point for any night!  All the bartenders are friendly.  Now they've even opened a kitchen!  I haven't eaten here but now it always smells like good food all the time.  argh!!!!  Damn it!  I'm just starting my buzz here....don't let me eat food and call it a night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Aaaah wreck room.  I go here for the cheap beer and to play pool.  If you come in expecting dive bar standards, you will not be disappointed.  Wreck is a lot of fun, but also has elements of suck.  The pool tables are crapped up and uneven, but playable.  I am surprised to see so many other reviewers deeming the food delicious...it is crap bar food that is nice to munch on when you're drunky, nothing more.  The bar attracts a certain d-bag factor, so that always adds to the entertainment.  To me, every DJ that has played while I was there sucked.  but hey, everyone has to get their experience somewhere.  There is open space in the back, which is nice if you want to dance (even better when some drunk dillhoe beats you to it...ppl watching here is a lot of fun). The bartenders are okay, I've only had a problem with the one with dreads...he wanted to start a fight with my friend after they closed up the bar?  I forget why, he ended up walking away, which was silly to me bc he instigated the whole thing.    overall, wreck is your standard dive bar.  I only happen to frequently stop by because I live in the area.

Maybe I'm not *hip* enough to fully understand this place, but I feel like I've contracted some sort of disease every time I go there. The last time I went I had to pee but decided to risk my bladder exploding on account of the entire bathroom area being flooded and smelling like sewage. On the bright side, drinks are affordable. But everything else is dirty and gross, including the shitty bands that play there. So unless you live in the 'hood, it's not really worth the trek unless you're visiting friends. Enjoi!

Okay so I live down the block from this place and and have been here 5 or 6 times so I'm ready to review.. It's a nice size place...They have a couple of booths in the back along the sides and a pool table towards the back wall leaving plenty of room to dance if your feeling the music.. I'm not exactly sure where the music comes from but last night it was a good selection 80's-current which is great because everyone is pleased... There's also a room in the very back where bands perform/practice which is kewl too...In the front there is a nice size bar with a decent selection. I saw that they had some pretty cheap drink deals a beer and a shot for $4 & $5 and money off of top and bottom shelf shots.. which is always a good thing...The bartenders are always kewl and attentive.. The crowd is so mixed.. Everyone feels comfortable...The bathrooms are downstairs along the walls there is lots of graffiti nothing too fancy the bathrooms are clean for the most part and have always had plenty of soap, napkins and tp...The best thing about this place is the food.... I love everything on the menu.....Fried pickles w/ spicy sauce were tasty, the pop corn shrimp with the thai sauce was really good, the buffalo wings were great.. The fries were tasty... I loved the onion rings with the horseradish sour cream and the burrito was really good it didn't even need the salsa... it was filled with flavor... the servings are pretty big and the prices are great for what you are getting.....
