I was about to be one of the party poopers and slap a 3 star on this place, till right as we finished the loop back towards the exit, lo and behold, the clouds part and we got one of the best sunsets I can remember in a long time.

So tip number one. Be smarter than me, and realize that even if it's a beautiful sunny day in Andover, that's not necessarily the case 30 mi away in Hingham. Esp when you're paying $5 per person for what is essentially just open land that I wouldn't think requires a ton of maintenance, it was nice but a touch disappointing at first. Like I said though, sunset made it worth the trip - this is a gorgeous setting for color, and everything was positively glowing. This will definitely become a repeat leaf-peap spot.

Very good place to go for a walk, swim, or a run. They have a cliff to jump off at high tide that is about 12-15 feet tall, a lot of the local kids enjoy that. You can get there by boat or by car. The paths are kept clean, and all dogs have to be picked up for after they do their business. Every bench they have is place infront of a great view.

Picturesque. Peaceful. Grassy and deciduous, brimming with New England charm, and vintage landscape elegance. You've imagined this setting while reading Bronte, pick a sister, or Thoreau. The day we arrived it was raining, so, we didn't stay long; as the paths divets were turned into overflowing puddles. The lab was in her glory, but the other drenched puppy was clearly unhappy. As the 12 year old Bean coat began to absorb intermittent downpours, and the sneakered feet squished, and became cold, it was time to turn back. World's End's vistas appreciated at every romantic turn, tidal estuary, and pastoral clearing.  Well worth the $5 per person entrance fee. However, I would like to see more refuse containers. One, even two would be nice. As there is no place to toss your used mutt mitt, or water bottle. Maybe that's why there's so much poo and trash left behind. No one wants to carry their dog's excrement or empty water bottle for 3 miles, particularly while admiring a sunset on the water. Aside from that, it's the setting 18th and 19th century romantic writers inked thoughts.  Beautiful.  Just beautiful.

I have to admit that I went to World's End because of it's name ...and that it was near the ocean, but mostly because it's name intrigued me. What a find! The volunteers that greet people as you arrive were helpful and laid-back. The paths around the park were varied in length and there are plenty of hills (a personal favorite quality)! It was quiet enough to emphasize the outdoors but had enough people enjoying the park that it didn't feel desolate.

The only hold-up is the location - no sign, thank god for GPS. After going there once, I realize I have been by the street 100 times going to Hull.
The volunteer explained to a group of us that the neighborhood doesn't want a sign, but that the street sign will be replaced by summertime; I'm won't hold my breath. God love Hingham!

It's a lovely part of the world, about 15 miles from downtown crossing.

I've been wanting to visit World's End for several years and finally went. I'm so sorry that I didn't go sooner! Great place to walk, great views, and even on a beautiful summer Sunday it didn't feel crowded at all.

You can make your hike as long or short as you'd like, since there are plenty of loops. We spent about two hours and only did about half of the park, because we went off the main path several times to explore the smaller paths that lead to great views of the water, so we definitely took our time. During low tide you can walk for a good piece along the rocks at the shoreline, at least on the Weir River side. I can't wait to go back! I'd also like to kayak in the area, there were many kayakers and boaters. Yes, it's $5 to get in per person, but it's completely worth it and helps to preserve the area.

The only cons: they only have porta-potties, and even though there's a map the trails aren't marked at all so it can be a bit tough to tell where you are. It's a small area though so it would be hard to get truly lost.

Go there today!

World's End is nice but there are a lot of pretty places around that don't cost $10 for 2 people (and a dog) to visit.  World's End is overrated.

Dog owners should visit Bare Cove Park and Stoddard's Neck nearby, instead. Bonus: your dog can roam off-leash in those parks. And if you want trails, visit the Middlesex Fells. Or, for something truly gorgeous, try the Arboretum.

I am unerwhelmed by World's End.

It's funny that this weekend was the first time I've ever been to World's End, since I grew up about 20 minutes away, and have lived in Boston for ages now.  I can't believe what I've been missing!

First of all, aren't you drawn in by the name?  World's End?  It sounds so fantastical, like you're in Narnia or something.  And though you will not meet any fauns or brave British children here, it is still pretty amazing.

World's End is a park consisting of a series of drumlins, or low, rolling hills formed by glaciers, right on the ocean.  It is basically a jut of land off the coastline of Hingham in the shape of a filled-in '8', that provides amazing views of Boston, Hull, various impressive windmills, and the glittering Atlantic Ocean.

So come here, hike, have a picnic, surround yourself with nature, bask in the sun and the ocean breeze...those rolling hills I mentioned earlier are gorgeous, as are the forests, meadows and marshes within the park.

I'm so glad I finally discovered this beautiful, well cared for sanctuary!  It's really one of the prettiest, most peaceful places I've been on the South Shore.

Gorgeous. Damn.

We went mountain biking here and it was awesome. Granted, we had to slow down at some points to avoid running into hikers, but that just gave us more time to enjoy the place. I'd advise a mountain bike over any sort of road/city/cruiser ride, some tough tires, and plenty of water.

The name is 'World's End.' How cool is that? It's a pretty badass statement, but you won't be let down. Bring a picnic! Bring a pet! Bring your bike! You could spend all day just walking around, finding new trails and discovering spectacular views.

I really loved my time here.  I'm trying to make a point of getting outside and hike more of the area surrounding Boston and heard World's End should be one of my destinations.  This place was truly beautiful.  Anywhere I can hike with a view of the ocean is ok by me.  The hiking is moderate, but there are about 4.5 miles of trail, which is enough to keep you busy for about 2 hours.  I like the whimsical feel of it (as it should be, with a name like World's End).  There are benches all over the park as well to enjoy the views.

It's $5 to enter, which goes into preserving the park.  Also, I would have liked to see more signs.  There's a map, but it's not very useful.  We were trying to find "The Ice Pond," but never quite figured out where it was.

Definitely worth the trip.

Probably my most favorite place in all of Hingham.  Stunning views all around.  It makes for a perfect 3-4 mile run (very hilly, though- an awesome workout!) It's also great for just rambling and wandering.
Caveat- on warm-weather weekends, particularly Sundays, the parking areas can be pretty packed.  But come during the day on a weekday when the weather isn't stellar and you may have the whole place to yourself.  I've been the only car in the parking lot on several such occasions and it was pretty awesome.

note- become a member of the Trustees of Reservations - it's $45 for an individual for a year, and gets you free access World's End as well as all their other conservation areas all across MA.  Not to mention you get the pleasure of knowing you're supporting local land conservation ! a win-win situation all around!

Right on to looking @ the boston skyline from World's End- When I was a freshman in HS (briefly) I had to do a biology report on leaves. It was supposed to be one of those projects where you work on it the whole semester.
I waited until the day before it was due.
I rode my bike out there with a FAT sack, but I forgot to take my books, or a pen, or anything to write on (see: "I rode my bike out there with a FAT sack)
Anyway, I spent the day walking around World's End getiing to know the trees and grass and stuff.
I failed the class miserably but I learned a greater lesson that day:
World's End is the spot.

Can't say enough good things about World's End.  It's arguably the loveliest park on the South Shore, very well-maintained and absolutely pristine (no litter or graffiti) .... The views of Boston, Hingham, and Hull, the fields and gorgeous tree-lined paths, the ocean breezes, I could go on and on!  Basically, World End is the place for you if you enjoy any of the following:

Horseback riding--great trail riding
Bird watching
Hiking/Running
Dog-Walking--note: dogs must be kept on a leash
Picnicking
Painting-- amazing for landscapes
The list goes on!!

This place is really beautiful and not too crowded.  It's a peninsula, so there are about 10-20 miles of hiking and biking paths with views of the water on most sides.  It aspires to be a little like Acadia National Park, including having carriage roads.

Here in lies the problem, and the reason I docked it a star: The carriage roads are inconsistently maintained.  It was featured in my bike book as having "well-maintained" carriage roads, but several times I had to get off my road bike and walk over gravelly or otherwise too-bumpy path.

My advice: Ditch the bike and hike this place. It's worth coming to because it really is gorgeous, but the bike paths were disappointing.

The Trustees of Reservations owns and manages this park.  There are 4.5 miles of tree lined carriage paths and trails to walk.  Dogs are allowed on leashes.   In 1889, the landowner hired Frederick Law Olmstead to design a housing complex of  163 houses.  The trees and roads were cut, but thankfully, the houses weren't built.  In 1945, they almost built UN headquarters here and in the 1960s there were plans for a nuclear power plant.  Thank goodness none of that occurred.    In 1967, the Trustees bought it.  It is one of the most beautiful places in Massachusetts.  There are beautiful views of the Weir River, Hingham Harbor and the Boston skyline.  Their website says to allow 2 hours to walk the paths to the end and back.  That is about how long it took us without too much dilly dallying.  We were there right before sunset which was an amazing sight.  Next time I go, I will allow enough time for sitting and enjoying the views.
