My boyfriend and I stayed here for two nights while he was taking a class at nearby Dartmouth college.  We stayed in the Tavern Wing and our room was outstanding in every way possible!

Tucked away on a small street in downtown Woodstock, this hotel & resort is only a brisk walk away from the nostalgic main street area.  The floor to ceiling fire place in the lobby is magical and the overall decor is stunning.  I highly recommend staying here if you're in the area.

My recommendation is to pair your stay with a trip to the nearby Simon Pearce store and restaurant for a memorable and romantic getaway.

Bar, burger, bacon, beer and a great bartender, Scott. Stop in for a bite and sit by the big beautiful fireplace. Just off the Village Green and worth a pop in to take a look.

I was excited to hear that my company was planning our annual sales conference in the intriguing state of Vermont.  I say this because it was one of the states that I had yet to visit.  I felt like I was missing out on the evergreen land with my lack of skiing knowledge, which left me with little reason to visit the area.  The trip concept only became more intriguing when I learned that we were going to go snowshoeing during our stay.

When we arrived in Woodstock, I was charmed by the city's quaint atmosphere; it really resembled a scene from a snowy holiday card.  We pulled up in front of the inn, and I was in awe by the sprawling white estate.  It was absolutely perfect.  The interior was similarly beautiful, though some rooms were clearly nicer than the small, old, dirty one that I was stuck in.  The food we were served during our meetings was pretty terrible as well, though our elaborate dinners were much tastier.  The gym and fitness facility was sadly over a mile away, but it's sprawling ceilings and substantial equipment made it worth the snowy trek.  The gorgeous wooden clubhouse was home to well-accommodated locker rooms, a lap pool, a hot tub, a gift shop, and a bunch of cardiovascular and weight machines.  The building also served as the entrance to the golf course, which was the scene of our snowshoeing excursion.  We had a blast climbing across the terrain and were regaled with warm tea and hot chocolate upon our return from the blustery outdoors.  The hotel also a rustic bar, complete with a fireplace, that we monopolized each evening.  We gathered around a colleague who lulled our stress with elaborate piano tunes and caused us to raise our cocktails in camaraderie.

Though I had mixed feelings about the quality of our stay and my likelihood to revisit the Woodstock Inn, I had a delightful and memorable time...However, this was due more to my colleagues than the hotel.

What a beautiful resort in an adorable little town!  We had a warm and contemporary styled room with a lovely, snowy view.  The employees were very nice and helpful, and resort restaurants were good and reviewed separately. Unfortunately the spa was not yet open at the time of our visit, but I have no doubts that it will be exquisite.

If you intend to visit Woodstock, Vermont, I'd highly recommend a stay here.

Lesson of the day: There is more than one Woodstock in the US*

When I heard we were meeting in Woodstock, I immediately thought of the famous music festival held at Max Yasgur's 600 acre dairy farm in the rural town of Bethel, New York from August 15 to August 18, 1969.  http://en.wikipedia.or...

Instead, I was driven to Woodstock, Vermont.  Through the rain, I could tell that the town was quite upscale.  I would definitely go back & explore.  I would even consider having my husband-yet-to-be-determined wedding there?  (Preceded / followed by a trip to Dartmouth, of course.  How awesome would it be to toss my bouquet off of Baker Towers??)

My friend & I walked through a very rural chic lobby into Richardson's Tavern.  If you have a sweet tooth (& you're of age), do not leave this resort without taking a break on their sumptuous leather seats with one of their Grapetinis in hand.  The glass is perfectly chilled & garnished with frozen grapes.  YUM!

I stayed here this past Friday night with a Friend.  This review is only for the hotel and the room, I will review the tavern separately.

First, let me begin by saying I had a trade certificate... this means that I had a comped room (which wound up being $3 because they put a tip in for the maid - I will comment on gratuities in my reviews on the spa and the tavern).

SO... for $3.. it was fantastic... but let's look at it as if I paid the $299 plus tax...

The staff is friendly.   Remarkably friendly, and not just pleasant.  From the very beginning on the phone they were super helpful.  Every person I came into contact with was a sheer delight... maybe it's the air in Vermont.

The room was nice, but not $300 nice.  It was very pretty and there was a king sized bed and a flat screen TV, but it was on the small side and there was nothing spectacular at all about the bathroom.

The overall facility was centrally located and you could walk to anything in town.  Pictures on their website make it seem as if the inn it located in the middle of nowhere.. this is not the case.  It is suburban.

Overall, I think if you have the expendable cash and it's nothing to you to spend $300 on a hotel room, this is a great place to go, but if you want to most for your money, there are better options in New England.

By far the best place to stay in Vermont!

The place is classic and cozy!  The staff is very nice and helpful.

When you walk in, you can sit after a day of skiing in front of the giant fireplace and enjoy complimentary tea and cookies.

The rooms are incredible, nothing like you have ever seen before.  All the furniture is handmade in Vermont and the carpet was flown in from India ( I asked the staff ).  The beds are the most comfortable you have ever slept in.  After a long day at the gym, it is nice to take a long bath in the HUGE tubs, jump into a bathrobe (they provide), hop into bed and watch t.v. from the large flat screen.

This place is especially great for active people.  There are plenty of outdoor things to do including hiking and skiing.  The hotel also also has a gym and golf course located nearby.

This place has everything and more you could ever ask for!

We found this inn through a Travelzoo deal and were so happy with the accommodations including our room, the food and especially the spa. It's rare to find this kind of place in a town as lovely and cute as Woodstock. It's truly a beautiful town. I loved walking around though there were so many places in the resort to curl up with a book that it was tempting to just stay in the inn. Back to the spa, there's a hot tub, sauna and steam room. There's lounge space and it was without question the best massage I've ever had.

I did not want to come home. In fact, I barely wanted to leave the building, in spite of this hotel being located smack in the middle of one of the most picturesque adorable little towns I've ever seen.
The staff were so friendly, from the moment we drove up to the moment we drove away. The ambience of the whole building is wonderful. Our room was so so so comfortable. The spa....oh, the spa. delightful, delicious, wonderful, awesome, fantastic...there are not enough superlatives for my experience of the spa. It's gorgeous.
We ate at the tavern one night and it was quite good. The cocktails in particular are wonderful.
I actually looked into how long a drive it would be from my house because I want to be able to come back again and again without the hassle of flying. (17 hours...so I decided that wasn't exactly reasonable, but I did consider it!--that's how good this place was!)

This review is just for The Spa, as I haven't stayed here.

However, the Spa is amazing! We got massages, and though my masseuse (kind of awkward mid-30's guy) wasn't too amazing, apparently because he was afraid of hurting a girl, my boyfriend's masseuse (a forceful lady) was really good. Even my awkward guy was good in some respects... he was good at focusing on the areas I requested, like my back. The most awkward part of the massage was at the beginning, when we're lying on the table peering out through the face-hole thing in the headrest, and they put some aromatic oil on their hands and do this bizarre ritual finger waggling thing right under your nose to get you to breathe in the aroma. What the hell? Maybe I should've had my eyes closed. I also really liked that there was this bowl of rocks under where your face goes, and we couldn't figure out the purpose at first. Eventually my boyfriend realized it's a fancy drool-collector... hilarious!

Anyway, apart from the actual massage itself, the ambiance was great. Everything was so soothing, and they had luxurious-feeling bathrobes, teas, snacks, whatever. If you spend some minor amount of money there ($25 or something, I think) you can stay at the spa however long you like. It was a ridiculously hot day when we went so we didn't hang out in the steam rooms or in the outdoor hot tub, but they looked really relaxing. We started falling asleep on their comfortable cushiony sofas in the hanging out room. Everything really lulled you into a sense of peace. Hmm, now that I'm reading my review of this place it sounds like the house of some crazy witch that's going to eat your heart when you fall asleep. So you know... there's that. Other than that, it's awesome.

This review is for the Red Rooster, the restaurant that opened at the Inn three months ago. I did not stay at the Inn, although the lobby and library look really nice.

The food in the larger towns of Vermont tends to be above average -- lots of talented chefs and good local ingredients -- but the Red Rooster was a hit out of the park.

The Red Rooster was outstanding. Every dish we had was perfectly balanced and delicious, and the oysters were some of the freshest I've ever had in a restaurant.

Taking the lead from the abundance of local ingredients, the menu is seasonal and creative American, along the lines of the recent (happy) trend of "haute barnyard" cuisine.

They know what they're doing, the service is lovely, and you'll be very impressed even if you're a "New York food snob" like me.

One dining companion compared it favorably to Blue Hill at Stone Barns.

Stayed here only 1 night...but wish I could have stayed here much longer! Walking up to it, there is a picturesque garden area, with a sprawling green lawn and flowers all around. Then through the entrance you go, and into this amazing place that is the definition of "tasteful New England style"! We checked in, and the staff was so friendly! She was telling my parents (who stayed there like 20 or 30 years ago) "Welcome back"! we then took the elevator to our 3rd floor room, and opened the door. The room was awesome! Nothing huge, but definitely still spacious enough to fit 3 people, a large (not sure if it was a Queen or King) bed, and a pullout bed! It had the same tasteful style as the rest of the hotel, and was overall perfect! The Red Rooster Restaurant is definitely a place I would recommend! So, book now and enjoy your stay at the Woodstock Inn & Resort!

We stayed here for one night on the way up to Quebec - we had just driven for 5 hours and this was the exact respite we were looking for. The staff is very pleasant, the entry is so warm and inviting and our room was just great. Bed was super comfortable. We had a Kerug coffee machine in our room was a nice surprise as well. The decor was perfect - vermont style but not over the top - i can imagine how cozy it must be in the winter. My husband liked the sports club (which is a few minute drive away) they also have an outdoor pool which looks really nice - though a bit too cold for us when we went unfortunately. Oh we had a great unexpected ping pong match on the lower level which was a great time! Not to mention the most adorable town of Woodstock - would definitely go back!

I absolutely loved my stay here.  Right off the bat, the staff was very, very friendly.  Our room was very nicely decorated and the bed was amazing!  Extremely soft, plush and comfortable.  Felt like you were sleeping on a cloud.  The bathroom was on the small side, but very nice.  It is right in the downtown area, so you can walk to all the shops.  We had dinner at the restaurant while we were there.  I had amazing scallops with kalamata olives, which I thought sounded weird, but it was excellent.  We ordered the potato skins and stuffed artichoke heart as appetizers and those were good too.  The sides were a little strange.  The carrots were good, but they also served leeks and this wild brown rice, both were not my favorite.  The desserts were wonderful too.  I would definitely stay here again!!!

This inn is one of a kind with a walk way into a garden in front of the picturesque backdrop of soemthing not seen in many run of the mill hotels in this area. The town it sits in is a quaint New England town complete with one of a kind shops and unique restaurants. This town was established by the Rockefeller family back in the 1960's and they completed it with the Woodstock Inn. The entrance way into the lobby of the inn is great, with a lobby huge fire place and rustic surroundings. The Inn actually has property in the rear portion that house smaller quarters and a outdoor pool. They also allow you to utilize the fitness facility down the street and have ski packages at nearby Suicide Six ski area or X-Country skiing down the street at the country club you can use for golf packages as well. The gift shop is unique inside the inn as well and there is a spa facility in the basement part with massage services etc. The restaurants that are part of the inn are a cafe that has delicious sandwiches and breakfast and a 4 star restaurant that has New England fare and boasts a menu of that fits this magnificent place. I would highly recommend this Inn to anyone looking to stay in style in quiet Vermont. This town is filled with Inns and B&Bs but nothing compares to this place. It may be hard for you to geta reservation as most weekends it is two or three night minimums, but I would call to see if yu can get in for one night, they may let you. Make sure you bring your wallet to this place, you will pay a hefty bill for dinner and your nights stay, it is not cheap!
