7 reviews for Woodstock Inn & Resort
Lesson of the day: There is more than one Woodstock in the US*
When I heard we were meeting in Woodstock, I immediately thought of the famous music festival held at Max Yasgur's 600 acre dairy farm in the rural town of Bethel, New York from August 15 to August 18, 1969. http://en.wikipedia.or...
Instead, I was driven to Woodstock, Vermont. Through the rain, I could tell that the town was quite upscale. I would definitely go back & explore. I would even consider having my husband-yet-to-be-determined wedding there? (Preceded / followed by a trip to Dartmouth, of course. How awesome would it be to toss my bouquet off of Baker Towers??)
My friend & I walked through a very rural chic lobby into Richardson's Tavern. If you have a sweet tooth (& you're of age), do not leave this resort without taking a break on their sumptuous leather seats with one of their Grapetinis in hand. The glass is perfectly chilled & garnished with frozen grapes. YUM!

I absolutely loved my stay here. Right off the bat, the staff was very, very friendly. Our room was very nicely decorated and the bed was amazing! Extremely soft, plush and comfortable. Felt like you were sleeping on a cloud. The bathroom was on the small side, but very nice. It is right in the downtown area, so you can walk to all the shops. We had dinner at the restaurant while we were there. I had amazing scallops with kalamata olives, which I thought sounded weird, but it was excellent. We ordered the potato skins and stuffed artichoke heart as appetizers and those were good too. The sides were a little strange. The carrots were good, but they also served leeks and this wild brown rice, both were not my favorite. The desserts were wonderful too. I would definitely stay here again!!!
By far the best place to stay in Vermont!
The place is classic and cozy! The staff is very nice and helpful.
When you walk in, you can sit after a day of skiing in front of the giant fireplace and enjoy complimentary tea and cookies.
The rooms are incredible, nothing like you have ever seen before. All the furniture is handmade in Vermont and the carpet was flown in from India ( I asked the staff ). The beds are the most comfortable you have ever slept in. After a long day at the gym, it is nice to take a long bath in the HUGE tubs, jump into a bathrobe (they provide), hop into bed and watch t.v. from the large flat screen.
This place is especially great for active people. There are plenty of outdoor things to do including hiking and skiing. The hotel also also has a gym and golf course located nearby.
This place has everything and more you could ever ask for!

I stayed here this past Friday night with a Friend. This review is only for the hotel and the room, I will review the tavern separately.
First, let me begin by saying I had a trade certificate... this means that I had a comped room (which wound up being $3 because they put a tip in for the maid - I will comment on gratuities in my reviews on the spa and the tavern).
SO... for $3.. it was fantastic... but let's look at it as if I paid the $299 plus tax...
The staff is friendly. Remarkably friendly, and not just pleasant. From the very beginning on the phone they were super helpful. Every person I came into contact with was a sheer delight... maybe it's the air in Vermont.
The room was nice, but not $300 nice. It was very pretty and there was a king sized bed and a flat screen TV, but it was on the small side and there was nothing spectacular at all about the bathroom.
The overall facility was centrally located and you could walk to anything in town. Pictures on their website make it seem as if the inn it located in the middle of nowhere.. this is not the case. It is suburban.
Overall, I think if you have the expendable cash and it's nothing to you to spend $300 on a hotel room, this is a great place to go, but if you want to most for your money, there are better options in New England.

This review is for the Red Rooster, the restaurant that opened at the Inn three months ago. I did not stay at the Inn, although the lobby and library look really nice.
The food in the larger towns of Vermont tends to be above average -- lots of talented chefs and good local ingredients -- but the Red Rooster was a hit out of the park.
The Red Rooster was outstanding. Every dish we had was perfectly balanced and delicious, and the oysters were some of the freshest I've ever had in a restaurant.
Taking the lead from the abundance of local ingredients, the menu is seasonal and creative American, along the lines of the recent (happy) trend of "haute barnyard" cuisine.
They know what they're doing, the service is lovely, and you'll be very impressed even if you're a "New York food snob" like me.
One dining companion compared it favorably to Blue Hill at Stone Barns.
Red Rooster: Nice bar, good looking place, food was good but a bit pricey for what you get.
This inn is one of a kind with a walk way into a garden in front of the picturesque backdrop of soemthing not seen in many run of the mill hotels in this area. The town it sits in is a quaint New England town complete with one of a kind shops and unique restaurants. This town was established by the Rockefeller family back in the 1960's and they completed it with the Woodstock Inn. The entrance way into the lobby of the inn is great, with a lobby huge fire place and rustic surroundings. The Inn actually has property in the rear portion that house smaller quarters and a outdoor pool. They also allow you to utilize the fitness facility down the street and have ski packages at nearby Suicide Six ski area or X-Country skiing down the street at the country club you can use for golf packages as well. The gift shop is unique inside the inn as well and there is a spa facility in the basement part with massage services etc. The restaurants that are part of the inn are a cafe that has delicious sandwiches and breakfast and a 4 star restaurant that has New England fare and boasts a menu of that fits this magnificent place. I would highly recommend this Inn to anyone looking to stay in style in quiet Vermont. This town is filled with Inns and B&Bs but nothing compares to this place. It may be hard for you to geta reservation as most weekends it is two or three night minimums, but I would call to see if yu can get in for one night, they may let you. Make sure you bring your wallet to this place, you will pay a hefty bill for dinner and your nights stay, it is not cheap!
