Went in for an oil change and smog check without an appointment - the accommodating staff managed to fit me in before closing - the girl behind the counter was even kind enough to offer me a ride home. Their great location allowed me to walk down the street and get a quick manicure in while my car was in the shop!
Nails dry, oil changed and smog check passed - but I didn't leave without a complimentary soda! Talk about "high maintenance!"
I recommend Woodside Auto to my closest friends and family. -

When both of our vehicles needed all new tires, I went right to Yelp and found Woodside Auto and Tire.
The reviews were great so I decided to try them out on one car. They were friendly, professional, reasonable and were able to get the car in right away. I then had them replace the tires on our truck as well. Same great results.
Both our vehicles were out of warranty and I had been wanting to find an alternative to the dealerships high prices for service and parts. I have been very happy with the service and quality. -

Jimmy, and his crew are the best! I had my vehicle serviced there last month, and despite not having an appt... They fit me in, got it right the first time and at a great price.
As a side note, I just referred a friend to them last week, and he said the service and hospitality was second to none... And that he will be back!
I definitely recommend their service! -

WOW. Has my family ever found its new auto repair shop! I must have passed this place dozens of times and never really noticed it. It's just before you get to the hill and turnoff for El Camino. But my usual place had been slacking and couldn't get me in for days and I needed work done before I went out of town. Though they were busy, Jimmy fitted me in and had me in and out in under an hour, even with quickly getting a special pair of windshield wipers from another shop. And the shop that couldn't fit me in had quoted several hundred - Jimmy did the job plus put in windhield wiper fluid and checked my levels, etc. for under $60! Fantastic, get your work done here!

I am really pleased with this place regarding my service today. First time there and a friend recommended them. I was only charged $10.00 for a tire rotation, a test drive (for trying to duplicate front noise I've been noticing on the 2007 Toyota Corolla the past 2 days, tightened the parking brake and cleaned the dirty rear drums.
Putting the bargain aside, I super appreciated the professionalism, on-the-ball type effort, honesty and efficiency I saw today with the guy behind the desk, 'Jimmy.'
I would recommend giving this car repair shop a chance. Compare their prices. Test their honesty. Weigh their word. If they keep this kind of service up, I'm afraid there will be other auto businesses going under in the immediate area.

i like the personal approach, they remember my name and car history. Always willing to explain the problem and recommend the best solution. sometimes, just live with it, an old car, don't bother, it is only the sound and lack of comfort, not worth th price to fix.

Wonderful and prompt service. My new tires were installed in less than a half an hour while I waited in a very pleasant waiting room talking with the super-nice and friendly Dominique. I will go back for all my tire and auto needs!

found a screw in tire around work. I was calling gas station to check the price for repair. i called 76 first and they charged $27.50 to repair. I thought it will cost less to get it done at gas station. I guess I was wrong.... then went on yelp found this place. they charged $20 if its repairable. Jimmy was very friendly and helpful. I got lucky and no need to repair mine. But i told him that the sensor light was still on. He asked the mechanic to check all the tire pressure for me with no charge. I got a chance to talk to the mechanic even he was friendly and helpful. I highly recommended this place.

I've been living in Redwood City for a few years now and given how often I drive it's been key to find a reliable place to have my car repaired. Above all else -- including their timeliness, straight arrow way of explaining things, cost for work done and work not needed to be done -- the crew at Woodside Auto & Tire are just straight up honest. I plan on taking my car here for the long haul.

I've been using Woodside Auto & Tire for well over a decade. Matt and his team are knowledgeable and honest! I wouldn't take my car anywhere else! I don't just use Woodside Auto & Tire for my personal vehicles but also our fleet of commercial vehicles. I highly recommend you take your vehicles to Woodside Auto for expert, honest, quality, work!

Short story: Go here & you won't regret it. Read the rest of the reviews if you have the time or want to feel even more confident.
I always have always dreaded taking the car or truck in for service because when the mechanic "recommends" X & Y also be performed, I usually can't tell what's really needed vs what's just padding the bill. But I am very comfortable with these guys and have been taking our car ('05 subaru outback) and older suv ('98 mercury mountaineer) to them for service needs the past ~2 years.
They have done a great job every time, are very easy to get a hold of & communicate with, and while I get info about what's aging or how things look, I don't feel like I'm being sold anything that's not needed.
The 1st time I went to them was for an emergency repair. We had moved to Redwood City relatively recently, so found them via Yelp. The subaru was making an awful sound and starting to smoke like crazy. Turned out that that the turbo blew (which seems to be not-uncommon based on google searching). It was quick, I felt informed, was given options, and not pressured.
Another visit was for a slight (but worrisome) sound that was intermittent, usually only when initially started/cold, and only when accellerating slightly. It turns out that it wasn't reproducible on the dyno. Not the best of situations for trying to diagnose. It took 2 days, but I got multiple updates along the way, and they fixed it. I cringed wondering what they were going to ask for the diagnosis fee, but I didn't need worry.
It seems like many shops have relatively competitve service rates & schedules, so I am glad to have found a shop that seems to give me the most for my $, and also seems very capable to handle both routine & non-routine (diagnosis-based) needs.
I haven't been to Woodside for smog or tires yet. (Just a matter of convenience... my past smog was done over lunch near work in Sunnyvale.) But, general auto service has been great, so I would expect the same for those too. -

I saw the yelp reviews and decided it was the place to go to have my tire fixed. I was pretty sure it was just a small hole.
I took it in to have it looked at, and they took care of it immediately. Very prompt and professional, and the price was very reasonable as well. Even though they were very busy with other cars, they put mine at the front of the line, since it was something they could take care of quickly and easily.

Woodside Auto is quick, convenient, and very friendly!
The smog check on my car and service was done in an hour and I showed up right around closing, they could have easily told me to come back another time. I also needed a new signal light but being on a tight budget couldn't afford it at the time. They did not stalk me like other places tend to do when you opt to get other services done at a later time. Going back in this week to finally get that light fixed.
They also checked around and gathered numerous quotes for my fog light which also happens to be broken. Great customer service and always good prices! -

Woodside Auto is the SHIOT! I have been extremely stressed out about my car situation due to the fact it did not pass a smog test at a location in Mountain View. The first mechanic I took it to charged me $400 to "do the repairs" and when I took it back to do a smog retest.... it failed yet again. My roommates had been telling me to go to woodside auto because they are the best and I should have listened sooner. Not only did they repair the issue in a timely manor but they also passed the smog and notified the DMV for me. They were so knowledgable, friendly, and efficient! They seriously made my day and I plan to go back to them next month to get more repairs done to my car. It is rare to find a mechanic you can trust and I completely trust these guys with my car. I had to swap out my worn out tires on my all-wheel drive before heading to Tahoe (first snowfall of the year and unexpected!) and called this shop at 8 am on the day I was heading out. They sent a guy to their warehouse right away to grab the new tires I needed! Dropped off the car at 10:30 and I was on the road by 11:15 am. Really friendly service and the tires they recommended were great (very quiet, good performance). Top notch.

I'm stunned that there are no reviews for the wonderful guys at Woodside Auto, which makes me feel as if I've found a fabulous hidden jewel.
I've recommended this shop to everyone that's ever asked for an auto repair referral. They're warm, friendly, and prompt. They've repeatedly proven their honesty and competency to me. Here's an example:
My sister - at my recommendation - took her Toyota Siena in for a replacement windshield and new tires. When she picked it up, she asked if they put run-flat tires on it. They replied no, they hadn't, because she hadn't requested them. She agreed (she hadn't requested them), thanked them, and took the van home.
An hour or so later, Woodside called her. Just in case, they had checked her VIN number with Toyota and found that her Siena didn't carry a spare. They apologized and asked her to bring the van back and they would put the runflat tires on for her.
Now I call that going the extra mile. -

Ditto. The guys at Woodside Auto do all the work on my company's cars, and they're fast, inexpensive, and happy to explain things to you--but not make you feel like an idiot because you don't completely understand how your transmission works.
They also are almost always available for same-day servicing, which is fantastic, because when you need your car fixed, you NEED it fixed NOW, you know? -

I am very happy with Woodside Auto. I came here because I needed a smog and they had a coupon online. Turns out my car wasn't playing nice took a while to get fixed up for smog. Jimmy helped me through everything I needed. It was like having one of your friends own a shop, I wasn't worried about getting "hosed". Jimmy is making a living doing what he is great at, fixing cars. I recomend this place to my family and friends and that says more then a review.

I chose this place because of good yelps. And because of the confident look and feel. It's small, but busy. Despite spending $1000 more than I expected after my first visit (100k maintenance) the clear and reasonable communication regarding the extra repair made such an expensive surprise as positive as possible.
The gang here will convince you they have your vehicles' best interest in mind. The cars that pull in and out of here are even a good mix and leave you confident this place is one that nurtures long term relationships. -

Matt brings his car to get them tinted were i work at, i didnt know they put tires on, so i asked about my sienna, he gave me a resonable deal, i said what the heck, i took it to him one morning and he did a great job and he drove it to my shop! outstanding service.

My husband's been going to Matt over 15 years. They offer great prices on tires (like 1/2 the price of Costco's even with their coupons) and they're good at doing alignments - they really know how to tune your vehicle to perform how you want it to. If there's a problem, they're quick to fix it. They're always busy but seem to know how to make all their customers feel like a priority.

Yes, I second that! Very polite, cheerful, and they do good work. They will report on anything they find that might need looked at, but don't push.
Plus, they will rotate your tires for free for the lifetime of the tire if you buy from them.. -

I was going from 280 down Woodside to get to 101 when my engine started to overheat. I pulled over and let it cool down, then continued. I travelled another 500 yards pulled over, let it cool.
I did this until I got to Woodside Auto. I told them my engine was overheating. They told me they'd look it over. They called me about 11:00 am and told me I had a bad water pump. I told them to go ahead and fix it. I get a call about 2:00 pm and they tell me it's done. Best service I've had in this area. -

These guys are incompetent in fixing smog related issues. They weren't able to fix (or identify) a fairly simple problem after two attempts, nor did they really understand the issue. I described the issue to them the way several Smog Only mechanics explained it to me and their response was that the smog testing equipment was faulty.

Very easy to deal with-fast service,if you go in early. The only work I had done on my Honda Civic,was to fix a flat tire(slow leak) and was reasonable and done in a timely manner...I would highly recommend and go back for any tire needs..

I've been a Woodside Auto & Tire customer for about 5 years now. When I used to work on the Peninsula, I discovered the shop when I needed a quick fix and they were close by. Boy, am I glad I called them. I have been a loyal customer ever since. Matt is a great guy to work with, knows his stuff, and I always feel that I am getting great service and not getting taken to the cleaners when the bill is presented. I live and work in San Francisco these days, but I still bring the family cars to Woodside Auto whenever somethng needs repair, or when a light comes on notifying me of a service need. The BMW and Mercedes dealer haven't seen my wife or my car for a long time, and I don't anticipate they will again soon, if ever. Thanks Matt and team!

Matt and the guys at Woodside auto are great! I've had work done at the shop multiple times and would highly recommend this place to anyone. They offer competitive, fair pricing, and are very straight forward with the costs and how long the work will take. As a female consumer I never feel that they are trying to take advantage of me and add in extra unneeded services. Matt or Jimmy always take time to explain to me exactly what the problem is and what work and parts are needed to fix it.

I am almost embarassed to bring my car back to Woodside Auto and Tire. The last 2 times I brought it in for different suspected problems, the hoisted it up on the lift, checked it out and said all was good. An hour of checking each time and no charge! They always take my car the day I call, and if something really IS wrong, they fix it at a very reasonable charge. Very good and honest as well as pleasant to work with.

I am a junior at Stanford, and recently purchased a Kia from a dealership back in Oregon that I had worked for a couple years ago. After arriving back in California during winter break, the vehicle started making horrible clicking noises when I braked. I called Woodside Auto based on their spectacular reviews and set up an appointment. When I arrived they promptly got to work on the rig, and were able to get me out of there in less than 45 minutes. They explained what they had found, how they went about correcting it, and because it didn't require any major repairs (despite over a half hour of labor put in) they let me drive off free of charge. These guys were really great, and I will definitely recommend them to my friends in the future.

It is very hard to find an auto shop with great customer service, solid work ethic, honest, and competent. Overall, I have had nothing but good experiences with Woodside Auto and Tire. The times that I have had problems they have been willing to work things out. They do good work in a timely fashion. They go out of their way to find the best parts for the best price. I strongly recomment them.

These guys are the best. Excellent customer service. My car hadn't seen a shop in about 15,000 miles when I brought it in. Matt got the car back in shape. He even serviced the transmission, replaced the radiator and did some minor body work free of charge. I will definitely be bringing my car back to Woodside Auto next time it needs to be serviced.
