This is the only South Indian restaurant that I could find in South Florida. I've been to better places up near Philly called Udupi. And for some reason, I can find dosai that taste just like the ones I used to have in Tamil Nadu...I'm not sure why this is, but have surmised that maybe its the fermentation of the dosai mix or maybe it's the fact that the water in the batter had a distinct taste.

I've never had the buffet, but I have had the thali meals. They are good, similar to other Thali meals I've gotten in the states. I miss the waiters with the huge pots of rice adding more to your plate.

I also drive an hour to come here and think that it's pretty competitive with other South Indian restaurants in the states.

You know there are a lot of South Indians somewhere when there's a Woodlands around! So, it is no surprise its South Florida location is in Broward.

This South India-based vegetarian chain is an excellent introduction to the different cooking style found in South India versus the tandoors, naans, and biryanis of the North.

It is still spicy, aromatic, and flavorful, but just....different. Not very descriptive, I know, but I think you will find the taste a little more subtle and complex than North Indian cooking.

The buffet is the best option, as it contains a plethora of choices and comes with servings of freshly cooked dosa, which are basically Indian crepes (the ones they serve you are called masala dosas, as they have Indian style potato wrapped inside - dip it in either the coconut chutney or sambar, which is like a vegetable stew).

Make sure you get the idlis (steamed rice cakes) when they come out fresh from the buffet (again, dip in coconut chutney or sambar). Try a little bit of everything, though one downside is the (canned) tomatoes they use give the tomato-based dishes a strong acidity. The gulab jamin is not too different than found at any other Indian restaurant and neither is the chai.

The busy traffic this place gets (Indian and non-Indian) ensures a lot of hustle and bustle, but the wait staff is cordial and prompt.

Visited recently for the lunch buffet with a coworker who is Indian. I thought it was really good and better than any Indian restaurant I've been to, although I have not been to that many. By comparison, there is an Indian buffet down the street from my work and this place is 10x better.

The dosai they brought to the table (crispy/buttery rice crepe filled with potato & onion) was awesome...I could eat those all day. Also liked the vegetable dishes (chick peas, carrots, etc) in a spicy sauce. Some of the stuff is pretty spicy but not so hot that it's uncomfortable. Grab an orange soda from the dispenser at the buffet table to wash it down...thought that was interesting. They also have assorted types of bread with all kinds of good stuff to dip the bread in, such as chutney and some other tasty sauces.

It's pretty much a carb fest, but I don't mind that every once in awhile. I will definitely go back to Woodlands now that I know where to go for Indian food.

The only drawback to the place, for me, is the one-hour drive.  But, I'd do it again, hail or shine..
Not only does this place serve delicious delicious south indian cuisine, they also have the chinese food that only indians serve, yes, it's indo-chinese cuisine.

So, we ordered the chinese chili fry (made of cottage cheese, peppers, green chilis, and onions), the onion masala butter dosa, and the onion chili uttapam.  All of what we ate, delicious.

Friends of mine ate from the lunch buffet and the others ordered the aloo palak, which I nibbled at and it was Yummy tooo..

If it wasn't that long a drive, I'd make this place a weekly thing.  They are the only place that actually serves a healthy portion of masala (the "potato stuffing") in the dosa.  The sambhar is light and just right for the dosa and the accompanying coconut chutney - yummers!!!

The decor like most South Indian places, and houses, is simple and very clean.

Had the Aloo Palak, and the special veggie curry, both were good, but the Aloo Palak was excellent.  Some of best Indian food in Broward.

Decent, tasty, and affordable vegetarian Indian cuisine at this small restaurant in an unassuming strip-mall. Hooray!
I wasn't familiar with South Indian cuisine but I was happy with the dinner selection we made here. Veggie curry, garlic naan, my friend ordered crepe, lassi, samosas. It all hit the spot. Enough for leftovers.
The servers were friendly as mentioned by a previous reviewer.
Went here on a whim, this must be the closest Indian restaurant to my mom's neighborhood. Would go back again.

Woodlands is pretty good South Indian veg restaurant in South Florida.  Very generic in decor but don't care for that as long the food in good.  The lunch buffets is cheap and the selection in pretty good too and the best part is the Dosas that's served right on the table.

Service is pretty good. If you have a taste for vegetarian Indian food you should like the place.

I am not a vegetarian but I don't feel as though I'm missing anything when I eat here. The food is always very flavorful and amazingly inexpensive. We eat there 2 to 3 times a month usually during the week as it makes a nice inexpensive break during the work week. I only wish that they had beer, beacuse all of their recipes would go great with a cold one.

The food here is pretty good although the service is sometimes mixed. Also, the atmosphere is borderline. My girlfriend and I usually get a thali and it's enough for two people. I would go here strictly for the food especially if you like South Indian food or vegetarian food.

One of the best South Indian Restaurants I have been to and I have been to many. The food was above average and service was fine, though not outstanding. We ordered the Woodlands dinner with the butter dosa and also the Thali dinner, both were excellent in flavor, quantity and presentation. This resaurant is on the cleaner side of most Indian restaurants which is something else that impresses me, but why oh why do Indian restaurants have such a hard time with bathrooms? This one is no exception. Try not to think about that sticky black film on the bathroom floor (and doors) and just enjoy the delish food!

The menu is decent, but the chef could use better recipes and an imagination when it comes to laying out the buffet. A mark of a good South Indian restaurant is its sambhar and coconut chutney. And Woodlands has never made a decent sambar/chutney to go with their idlis and dosas.
Pros:
Friendly enough management
Nice dosas and coffee.
Cons:
Specialty dishes like Malabar Adai taste nothing like how it should.
No ambience.
Average buffet
