3 reviews for Woodcliff Hotel and Spa
(Golf course only -- have never stayed or eaten here.)
Fun 9-hole course right at the top of the hill. Opens with a tough par 5 but gets better. Course dries out quickly and gets nice and soft after a good rain. Moderate elevation changes makes for a challenging quick round. More bunkers than the other local courses. Some great views from the 3rd and 6th holes, too. One of my favorite places to play. Call ahead for a tee time just to be sure there's not a school group out.
S and I traveled here to the greater Rochester area for a friend's wedding reception in June. Our arms were tired.
The hotel was small but it was probably one of the nicest places I've stayed (see photos). Cozy big bed, wireless internet, what else do you need besides beer and bag of Cheetos?
Spa Elan is a spa on the 2nd floor with a full menu of services. The Swedish (couples) massage was very relaxing. Nikki's touch was excellent. Rub only. *groan*
Poolside was not impressive. "Whack" is what us ghetto Bronx folk say. The outdoor pool only opened at a certain time, when a life guard was on duty... hello? It can't be deeper than 5 feet?
The staff was friendly and I couldn't complain about our comfortable stay. The Horizon's restaurant/bar (located in the lobby) was good too. One dinner we experienced was delicious (a surprise - we had low expectations) accompanied with nice window seats. One breakfast/brunch was terrible. It was a row of leftovers from a continental breakfast.
As a wedding venue space, I felt it was "beautiful" (I say that in my best Javier Bardem voice), serving a cocktaiI hour and transitioning space for the reception. I could ask my friends what they paid, but they'd have to kill me.
One could classify the Woodcliff as a business hotel; it's a lovely one. Nearby Casa Larga Winery is a major plus!

Nice hotel. Really nice hotel for business people.
Full of business travelers. Some old, some younger, mostly alot of older. But that's okay.
But what makes it 5 stars is the following:
Free valet service to and from the airport, and to and from the bars!
Nightly cookies delivered to your pillow along with turndown.
Lounge bar on the main level with bartenders that remember your name.
Referrals from the staff as to local hangouts.
The fact that the staff knew the name of my boyfriend after 1 day and asked about how he was doing, daily.
The "study lounge" provided to us with a table, dry erase boards, snacks, and unlimited water.
The gym with all the equipment, cardio machines and revamped pool and hot tub.
The fact that I never once missed my wake up call.
While not the Ritz, how often when traveling for business do you get put up in a nice hotel???
