2 reviews for Wood Neck Beach
A great kid's beach. This one boasts a sand-bar marshy-river type area that's really shallow and full of crabs, little fish, and other sea critters for kids to examine. There are always lots of mothers and kids on that portion of the beach any time of day (it's also fun for anyone that likes to examine sea creatures...even if you aren't a kid anymore).
The actual "real" beach part has grown steadily rockier and the shoreline has definitely receded over time so there isn't as much pure sand as there used to be which is too bad, it was one of my favorites back in the day. It still boasts some nice swimming, especially at low tide when you have to walk for a really long time to even get to water to swim in. Not too sea-weedy usually either but again, the rocks abound.
There is a lovely view though and you can walk to Black Beach and all the way to Chapoquoit as well (fantastic walk, highly recommended!).

It's one of the cleaner beaches on the Cape, and it's wonderful for walks. I love coming here in the evening, after all the tourists' kids have gone home, to check out what's living in the tidepools. Lots of cormorants and sandpipers around if you're into watching them.
