Site of the first women's convention in the United States, right here in Seneca Falls, NY. The society site offers free tours (which is what our group perused), but you are offered the freedom to examine statues, pictures, paintings, and photography on your own. Integration of hands-on technology and audiovisual recordings make the museum more alive. Free admission, photography permitted. Makes an average history lesson look like crap. Best of all, the Seneca Falls area is a quaint area with surrounding shops to eat and relax afterward.
pretty lame...and i'm a feminist
I had no idea that there was a national museum dedicated to women's rights until it was recommended to me by a docent at the Susan B. Anthony House in Rochester, NY. If you are in upstate New York near the town of Seneca Falls, I recommend a visit to this landmark. The exhibits cover women's fight for equality from the early 1800's to the present and are fascinating and inspiring.
