While I liked both doctors I've seen here (Dr. Butler and Dr. Blumenthal), this office needs a total overhaul. I will not be back. For some reason, they have WAY too many nurses/staff/medical assistants/receptionists at this place, resulting in too much talking, joking, and noise. Everyone seems frazzled yet out of it-not exactly the vibes you want to pick up on just before getting your lady parts checked.

During my last visit, I waited in the depressing, dirty, cluttered room for my doctor for 45 minutes, all while donning just a paper napkin. While I was in the room, I could unfortunately hear the entire patient/doctor discussion in the room next door. I could also hear one of the doctors make a phone call to a patient, discussing her STD results. Unprofessional, and totally gross.

Even better: while I was being examined, feet in stirrups, geeky medical student gawking all the while, some random nurse walked right into the room!! She offered some half-ass apology after staying in there for a while to talk to the doctor about who the hell knows what.

Seeing a gynecologist is inherently an unpleasant experience for women. Gyno offices should be clean, confidential, and professional, and the experience of just being in the office should not bring on undue stress.

I went here for the duration of my recent pregnancy. I mostly saw Dr. Hite, but also saw the other physicians in case they had to deliver with me. I really like Dr Hite. He is professional and also warm so he made me feel very comfortable. I'm not generally keen on a male OB, but he is great. Dr Blumenthal I did not like. He was cold, insensitive and impersonal. No bedside manner at all which I require in a doc who is seeing me for care of such sensitive issues. Office staff was always nice. Greeted me by name when I arrived for visits and I like that personal attention from the staff. It's highly unusual in my experience. They are very busy and crowded office and not the best at returning phone calls or paperwork requests. Be prepared to ask twice. But otherwise very pleasant and dependable.

On my quest to find a good lady doc, I have been calling around to find out if any cha - cha doctor's are taking new patients. Well, this place is but you just have to wait until the turn of the century! Really? I believe I was informed that I could see a doctor in the middle to late October - I'm sorry, 7 weeks to get an appointment? No thank you.

These people are so incompetent. The billing staff tells you you have nothing to pay there and then harasses you with bills later. Also - it takes forever to get someone on the line if you are not scheduling an appointment. I saw Dr. Rubin and did not think I had good care. Im not picky about the doctor, but just really bothered by her unnecessarily long checkup- complete with office interview about my life. Just check me up and get me on my way lady. I have things to do.

Overall a good experience.  The office was extremely busy.  This is understandable with four different MD's in one office space.  My appointment was for 12pm.  I was called in about 20 minutes late.  Considering how busy they were I thought I was going to have to wait longer.  I think they try hard to get you in as close to your appointment time as possible.

Once I was brought back, I was shuffled in and out of different rooms.  This is mainly why I am rating them with three stars.  I was brought in one room, which happened to be the bone density room.  This is where the nurse took my vitals and told me I had to wait for an exam room to open up.  Then another doctors nurse clearly needed the room and moved me into a clean exam room.  Then my doctors nurse said no that I needed to go to the doctors office since it was my first visit.  I was moved to the office.  Finally, I get to meet Dr. Blumenthal.  He was very nice, professional and made me feel in good hands.

I was moved again to another clean examining room and told the usual stuff.  Put this lovely paper jacket on and cover your lap with this other lovely paper sheet.  Once the doctor made it back in, the exam was over in a blink of an eye.  He had excellent bedside manner.  We had a great conversation about fitness, mostly because this is my career, and he had some questions.  All in all it was a good experience.  Next time hopefully the room shuffling won't be an issue.

2007 - I had 3 doctors there while I was pregnant, as you do when you are pregnant (make the rounds, just in case) but Dr Blumenthal was my primary.

My baby stopped making the movements she should have at 7 mos of pregnancy.  I went in a few times and told them on visits that she isn't moving the way she was.  They kept having a tech do stress tests (turns out that tech just learned how to do them that week & was not doing them correctly)

I had slight BP elevation but Dr. Blumethal assured us (my sister & I) ARROGANTLY that there is "no effect on the baby." -red flag #1 - why would you EVER tell a patient that?

At the 34 wk mark - the ultrasound tech stated the baby was 6 pounds, 6 ounces. She was breach so Blumenthal stated it would be c-section.

Well, my stretch marks started to heal - I knew something was wrong and kept stating that there is litte and sometimes no movement -- I would tell Blumenthal.  After stress tests, the kept saying everything is fine.  In the end- 38 weeks- he offered to deliver at Michael Reese!!! WHAT?... I PICKED HIM BECAUSE OF HIS NMW AFFILIATION.

Dr. Blum made me wait until term, 39 wks, AND --  the baby was clearly under weight- 5# 5 ounces -- not even on the chart.  Truthfully, I was surprised she was alive because I cried the whole weekend before my c-section because I thought she was dead.

Dr. Blumenthal NEVER acknowledged anything was wrong.   I was wondering about the placenta for future pregnancies.  Blumenthal said ARROGANTLY,  "There is no reason you could not have more children".

He basically ignored years of research and acted like a low-birth weight child was fine.  How was the baby 6#6oz at 34 weeks?  (even if the tech was off by 1 pound -- 5 weeks later - the baby should have been bigger not smaller!)... I know ultrasounds are not perfect but they are NOT that far off either.

His unacknowledging makes us firmly believe HE WAS COVERING HIS A$$ after the baby was born, but this behavior affected us with future pregnancy!!!  We believe he could have helped if he would done better assessments!

The pediatrician (Blumenthal's colleague) - told me "the baby may be behind for the first 2 years of life but should catch up" -- what?  if there was nothing wrong according to Blumenthal - why would pediatrician say that?

I went on to have another pregnancy  BASED on Dr. Blum's advice-- I went back to IL Masonic - Dr Sean George (my original gyne).  Several weeks into the pregnancy the alpha-fetoprotein marker came back elevated.    I did get the amnio to rule out abnormalities that could be tested... negative (BTW - amnio was one of the easier procedures I have had).
Then, at 18 weeks, I had a level 2 ultrasound and the baby was really behind and the head was not spared.  The fetus was only 15 weeks at 21 weeks.  After the D&C, the results showed that THE PLACENTA HAD CLOTTED!  This was the result of lack of fetal growth. THIS IS MOST LIKELY WHAT HAPPENED IN FIRST PREGNANCY - however, thankfully, the fetus was able to survive.

We firmly believe there are things that could have been done in the first pregnancy if DR BLUMENTHAL WOULD HAVE MEASURED MORE ACCURATELY & LISTENED TO THE PATIENT!!!   And could have done things differently in the second.

His partners...

Dr Scott Hite:  Saw him twice during the pregnancy. I had bacterial vaginosis & I knew it (had it once in college) -- you have to take a sample and look under the microscope.  HE DIDN'T WANT TO DO THE EXAM!!! - I said, "what is the effect on the unborn baby if you don't treat it?"  He said, "well, it may go away on its own" - I was so uncomfortable that I had to all but beg him to do the exam.  He did it finally & of course, I had Bacterial Vaginosis (BV).  He also insisted that I look at him during the exam - inappropriate!

So, a couple weeks later, (you see the MD regularly at end of pregnancy),...
I had Dr. Shayna Rubin:  I told her that was still having irritation & was pretty sure the BV had stuck around.  She did nothing so I lived with it for the rest of pregnancy.  I got my records & saw that she actually charted that I REFUSED the exam!  Clearly, unethical.

While I am a nurse/lawyer, I never had any intention of suing because that will not resolve what already happened. However, I think women should know so I am willing to post such personal information.

The phone rings and rings and rings, both when you call and while you are sitting in the office. It makes you feel like you are sitting in on Jerry's telethon. Seriously awful, I have had better customer service in a crowded health clinic waiting room when I didn't have insurance. Now that I have health insurance, why would I subject myself to this kind of place?
