One of the 7 horticultural wonders of the world!
Weighing in at 250 tons and over an acre in size, this Wistaria Vine is a cornerstone of the humble town known as Sierra Madre. Curious tourists need to take a short shuttle ride up Baldwin (tickets "required"). You'll know when you're there when you start smelling flowers from a block away. It's truly amazing. Aside from the main attraction, the festival hosts a myriad of vendors from engraved rocks to hot tamales. It only happens once a year when the flowers in in bloom, so keep a look out for the Festival date!
Tips: The house that hosts the Wistaria Vine is a private residence. Don't disturb their peace!

It is a nice tourist attraction. It's supposed to be the...[longest? oldest? one of the only?] Wistaria vines. It's kind of cool because you walk into this private residence and the vine is in their backyard.
After ten minutes of checking out the vine you can get food. I think that the festival is entertaining for about 30-45 minutes thus the 3 stars...but its still a cool plant to look at! pretty lavender flowers.
I believe some are growing at the Arcadia Public Library too, albeit not as large and old.

Another of California's great local festivals. Nestled at the foot of Mount Wilson, a seemingly sleepy lil town lines its main street and fills the local park with music and vendors offering food, art, tchotchke and plants. Go, ride the shuttle to the BIG WISTARIA (covers 2 backyards), and revel in the fragrance that's attracted locals for years. 5 stars for holding a festival for a plant!!!
