Winthrop-University Hospital
2 reviews for Winthrop-University Hospital
If something as fabulous as moi could come out of this place, it has to be good!
I wish I could remember my stay at this hospital, but I was just a wee peanut. I decided to grace the world with my presence 6 weeks early in 1983. Medical technology certainly wasn't what it was today, but they took top notch care of me! I was in the neonatal intensive care unit for all 6 weeks after popping out like a mexican jumping bean.
I came out jaundice, and looked like big yellow easter egg. Oh, did I mention that I was an 8 pound 1/2 ounce premie-can we say heffer!? So yeah....I was like an undercooked corn-fed turkey who needed a special incubator flown in just so I could fit in it. *insert body image issue here*
I had all sorts of other issues when I was born, like....not being coordinated enough to eat and breathe at the same time, so I kind of died once. Oops! Thanks for those little defibrillators!
I have only been back to the hospital once for a premature baby reunion. How cute is that! There was an archive of pictures, and doctors came out to visit with us and we got to tour the newly renovated neonatal intensive care unit, which looked pretty snazzy if you ask me.
Not somewhere I recommend going for fun, but if necessary, go!
My dear Aunt Peggy is currently staying at W-U Hospital. We learned earlier this week that her breast cancer, long dormant, has returned and has metastasized into her bones. She was operated on yesterday to remove cancerous fluid from around her lungs.
The doctors and nurses are W-U are taking very good care of her, and for that, my family and I are eternally grateful.
We love you, Aunt Peggy.
