The military aircraft nut in me squeed with joy when we walked in. The Star Wars nut in me starting jumping around like crazy.

This is place is cool! We went for a wine event, but i will be back just for the museum. Seeing so many great aircraft in one place is just so awesome.

The history and information is incredible. AND THERE'S AN X-WING FIGHTER!!!!

Lots of airplanes and yes an xwing fighter with r2-d2 look alike in it.
Hubby was very impressed with that part!

Was there for the wine and food event, so not much museuming going on, but definitely a cool place to have party!

Not sure i'd be keen on $8 to get in, but it was neat and close to home.

We had to go. It was unavoidable. See, my husband is a Star Wars fan, and they have an X-wing Fighter on display.

    ...yeah.

The day we went coincided with some aero-something convention, so there were lots of people who were (all caps required) VERY EXCITED about airplanes and models and remote-controlled stuff. I was especially impressed by one elderly gentleman who had eyebrows that put Andy Rooney's caterpillars to shame.

Anyway, much like Lindsey mentioned in the other review, yes, there were lots of planes. The museum also highlighted a couple other flying machines that had been movies, and there were little model airplanes kids could get in and peddle around that were pretty cute. Also, many of the cockpits were open, so kids and adults alike could climb in and explore and pretend they were in Top Gun.

We may or may not have spent a good portion of our time there humming "The Danger Zone."

If the day is crummy outside and you need something different to do, or if you have a war buff coming to visit, this museum would probably be a good idea. Would I pay $9 again to go? Probably not. But, I'm glad I hit it up at least once.

I am a self-proclaimed Plane-Geek. I love airplanes, air shows, history of aeronautics, military planes... You get the idea.

This "Museum" is located in a small hangar leftover from an old airfield, most of which has been/is in the process of being converted into chic shoppes and condos. There are definitely a decent amount of 'planes' in the hangar, however, being a small space, they are severely overcrowded, and underlit as well.

The largest problem in my opinion? Most of these exhibits aren't, in fact, planes. They are papier-mache or plastic-ish renditions. In other words: Oversized models.

I thought I'd be seeing some restored relics of another aero-era... and some military planes... Nope. I saw toys.

    I was very disappointed.

I'm not quite sure how I found this place but I'm glad I did.  I love airplanes, paper airplanes, rockets, birds, and anything that flies in the air.  I remember when I used to work at an electronics retailer and when my friend and I got bored we would make paper airplanes and throw them around.  Out of the many times we did this, only got caught once!

After finding my way to the Wings Over The Rockies Air and Space Museum, I did not have any expectations other than seeing the famed X-Wing fighter from the Star Wars movies and that I did.  They even had an original storm trooper outfit encased in a glass showcase.  They have quite a few jets that have been decommissioned from earlier times as well as some active ones that are just docked in the hanger until further notice.  The people who work there are extremely enthusiastic about talking about each aircraft.

The day that I went was a cockpit day.  They had a couple planes that you could actually sit in and look at all the controls.  I believe the one I sat in was from the 60's-70's.  Very cramped inside.  I am already a bit claustrophobic and being inside the cockpit would have made me gone nuts!  I enjoyed the quick history of all the planes.

Towards the front/side of the museum, there is a room full of commemorative pieces honoring many of which that have served in the armed forces of Colorado.  This included uniforms, plaques, chairs and many pictures which outlined the people that served.

This is a great place to visit for those who enjoy a little history or just likes airplanes in general.  The museum is located deep within the neighborhood, surrounded by a couple hangers as well as some new lofts that are brand new to the area.

I've been for a few events now and I really love that history has a place here. It is kind of depressing to me that such a important place in Air Force history has been reduced to one hangar, but I guess I should just be grateful there are places like this at all still around.
