Review from Daniel H.
Hamilton City, CA
After finding this place by chance 3 years ago, I've been back every time I'm in Crescent City. To say that I really dig this place is an understatement. I look forward to coming here all year and it's one of the highlights of my trip to CC.
As far as appetizers go, I prefer the fried prawns and the crab puffs. The portions are large enough to feed 3-4. Plus, they are PRAWNS, not shrimp and as such, they are f'n huge!
As far as entrees, I get the House chow mein and pork fried rice. It's fresh and not greasy at all. Their Broccoli Beef is also pretty good.
I have no basis to compare the quality of the food to other places in town, but they have awards for "Best Asian Food in Town" so I guess other people like them a lot too.
The only bad thing is that they're closed on Mondays so I have to find somewhere else to go tomorrow. -

The only place we will eat Chinese food in this town, just a hint: get their pot sticker sauce to put on everything you order. It'll make it taste much better.

Nothing special! If you eat "average American Chinese", you'll know what to expect here. Skip it.

This is your best bet for Chinese food in Crescent City. The food is best described as Hong-Kong-style Chinese American fare, though travelers from big cities might scoff at that. Sure, it's not what you'd get in any Chinatown in a big city, but it's not in Chinatown. It's here.
Service is swift and friendly. Even if you arrive ten minutes before closing (as we saw some folks do), they will happily serve your group.
The pork is one of the better items, and the food seems fresh. Get a combo plate and there will be plenty to share or to take home with you. -

Attentive service but the food was really greasy and inconsistent. Ordered the Hunan Prawns because they had a spicy symbol next to them on the menu and it touted a special house sauce. The prawns were not spicy and I was able to douse them with Chinese mustard. One out of three prawns were extremely fishy. The rest of the dishes, Cashew Chicken and Chow Mien, were fairly pedestrian. The egg rolls started out good, but were super greasy as well. Less grease and more flavor.

NO FORTUNE COOKIE????!!!!!
Best Chinese food in Cresent City. Lunch special is the way to go, a good meal at a pretty reasonable price, dinners and single items are delicious but more pricy. Everyone loves the garlic chicken, but for some unexplained reason they decided a slice of orange was a better ending to your meal than a fortune cookie, and despite numerous pleas from locals, they have no plans to bring back the cookie. Confucious say: Fortune cookie only way to end Chinese meal. -

We went to Wing Wah based on a recommendation from the motel we were staying in. It turned out to be acceptable but not great. We: my wife and I and our Taiwanese exchange student. Granted, part of the reason to go was to show our Taiwanese friend how different American-Chinese food is from real Chinese food (IMHO they should be considered seperate categories).
We were told that any substitution off the family menus was an extra charge. Service was spotty, the food average, the ambiance lacking. Pretty normal for an American Chinese restaurant. -

We stopped in today after gymnastics for a quick lunch before heading to the movies next door. I got the combo plate with Mongolian beef, chicken chow mein, 4 pieces of mar far chicken, and 4 pieces of sliced BBQ pork. The Mongolian beef was very flavorful, tender, and loaded with beef. The chow mein was the star of my combo plate, soft noodles with real pieces of chicken and fresh cabbage, not a single bean sprout! (I hate bean sprouts) it also came with soup and hot tea. The server was very friendly and accommodating. The place was 1/2 full and clean. We will be back to try the much recommended garlic chicken.
