Not too busy on a Sunday night dinner time. Cozy and intimate setting with dim lights. Wasn't too loud either!
We got the crab cakes and the $35 pre-fixe deal. The crab cakes were pretty good and had a nice spicy kick! For the pre-fixe deal, we had:
Brie and Proscuitto En Croute- interesting dish that looked like a pastry, but stuffed with brie and proscuitto. I liked the brie and the proscuitto part.
Stuffed All Natural Single Cut Pork Chop- another interesting dish, but meat was not tender enough. The stuffing was better.
Triple Chocolate Tart- nothing special, just very chocolatey.
We were pretty stuffed from all these dishes. The portion sizes weren't tiny. We could have skipped on the crab cakes, since we drank wine too.
Wine: had a lot of glasses of wine here, but can't remember which ones I had! This always happens when I drink I just remember ordering Rieslings and sweet wines.
Service: Food and wine came pretty fast.
The food overall was pretty mediocre - I had steak, my wife the fondue. The meat was somewhat stringy and the fondue a bit stale.
My food was cold when it arrived at the table - after mentioning this to our waiter he apologized, took the food and returned with the same plate (!) a few minutes later. I was mortified when I saw that they simply reheated my plate in an oven! Not even McDonald would have the chutzpah to reheat cold food.
I should get in trouble for 2 stars when I admitedly went there twice. But the patio! The patio gets ya. The food on the other hand is mass-produced crap.
I got attitude from my overworked waiter. I ordered duck medium rare and it came out well. It had a red wine sauce and was dimly lit so just to be sure I cut into the grey mass and ate a chewy bite. When I sent it back he said it was probably the sauce. Yeah I've had duck prepared correctly before and it was not your gross sauce that made me think my meat was overcooked. Plus the sauce was pink, wouldn't that make it look *more* rare??
I'll try not to go back but something about the outdoor patio on Old Town makes me think my future will not be free of the Wine Cellar but you are warned.
Went for my birthday dinner and it was awful. Nevermind that when we tried to get reservations, we were told they were booked up at 6p and we had to come earlier. Ok fine. Showed up and only one other pair in the restaurant. We were there well past six and still not many more people showed up so I don't see why we couldn't get a 6p slot.
Service - atrocious. We were an inconvenience for our server who would have rather rolled napkins that wait on us and gave us plenty of attitude for no reason and never came back to check on us. That alone ruined my birthday.
Food - his meal was good, but mine was awful. Of course, couldn't get anything else because never saw any employees until the check came and by then I just wanted to get out.
Horrible service and only "ok" food. I might have been back to try something else, but because of the service we had, I will never return nor recommend them. Too many other great restaurants to choose from in Los Gatos.
I even called the next day to speak to a manager about our experience and she didn't seem to care. We spent too much money to be treated the way we did.
Things I liked include location, ambiance, booth seats and general coziness of the restaurant. Some dishes were very good.
Things I disliked:
-chicken marsala tasted like chicken teryaki, it wasn't very good
-waiter was efficient, but abrupt, seemed annoyed by us
-was overcharged for wine bottle when the wine I ordered "ran out" and was given a substitution but at a higher price
Overall, it was okay, but mostly the bad attitude of our waiter ruined things for us.
Abalone was tasty but have had better. Been there just once but would go again. Everything else was great including the wine and service.
Went here on a date. I over-dressed a little but who the hell cares! When I do things I do it big. The crowd is just like all LG crowd, really lax calm and mostly parents out with their friends.
I got the blue sea bass and the boyfriend got the new york steak. They were both GREAT. I loved how great everything was, I liked his a little more though. The fish was prefectly cooked and his steak was medium. We had a bottle of riesling that went with our dinner and I was literally stuffed! The entrees took a while to come out but we got sourdough bread to munch on...which i love ( i have a thing for places that give bread b4 meals).
We were able to sit on the patio. We had reservations at 6:45 pm on a sunday and we arrived 15 minutes late, but there was still seating. It was a really nice day and I love old town LG so it was very peaceful.
Our meal came out to be 115 dollars including tax and tip. Definitely an expensive meal to me but well worth it. I'm definitely coming back here again to try the other items that I had a difficult time choosing from : )
I recommend this place for dates and for friends to hang out, but because I am young and scraping and so are most of my newly college grad friends...I would take em here for nice occasions.

I generally only stop into the Wine Cellar after an errand in Los Gatos or when meeting buddies, because LG isn't normally an entertainment destination for me. But once there I really enjoy the relaxed, California-style vibe, outstanding food and bar and friendly, efficient wait staff.
They have a real bartender (don't ask if you don't know what the diff is) and you can comfortably dine at the bar [which is what I do] as easily as at a table. Their by-the-glass wine selection is outstanding and being seated at the bar allows you to seamlessly glide from one to another over a meal. I normally do appetizers.
I'm a fool for their MONTEREY BAY CALAMARI, which comes with a good portion of upscale salad [unusual with Calamari] and just the right mix of Garlic and Parmesan.
I also love their ABALONE but I worry about abalone poaching so I don't order it often as there is no way, that I know of, to certify legal sourcing.
My pals say the GRILLED ARTICHOKE is amazing too.
Prices are in line with the quality of the food and service.
The food: I was disappointed with the food. For this price, I expected something a lot more subtle and well seasoned. I ordered a filet mignon, which came with rock hard broccoli. The seasoning was bland, and the food tasted basic. May be I'm spolied because I recently had lunch at Jeanty Bistro in Napa but for a similar priced menu, the food quality felt mediocre in comparison. My wife's food wasn't exciting either and she just called it ok, which in her terms is pretty bad. Of course, the food isn't that bad when compared to Carrows or some big chain, but then it's not supposed to be in the same league.
The location: the patio is beautiful and relaxing. We had diner and at night, they use candles to provide light to the tables. Now that's very romantic but it's so dark that you can't really see what you're eating.
The waiters: they are doing their job appropriately, nothing exceptional, nothing bad to say about them.
I've eaten here probably 4 times over the past two years and it's always been very good. Expensive...but good.
The service is prompt, and the food is delicious.
I'm bothering to write a review because of the last time I visited. It was Father's Day, and my father had never been her though he's lived in Los Gatos for the last 25+ years.
So, having been vegan for the last 9 months, I looked online and found that I'd probably be stuck with a salad...not horrible but not exciting. So, after my sister made reservations I called back and asked what was available to a vegan. The hostess put me on hold, promptly returned, pointed out the vegan salads and added that she's spoken to the chef and he said he would make a vegetable pasta if I wanted.
When we arrived and ordered, I told the server that I'd called ahead and was told I could order a vegan pasta. He looked mildly confused but took the order and when our food arrived I had a beautiful veggie-filled, perfectly al-dente pasta with marinara. I was sooooo happy.
I have worked at several restaurants and know that the only thing worse than asking the cook to butcher his carefully planned menu is to ask him to create something that doesn't even exist on it in the first place. I felt pretty obnoxious doing this but they took my request graciously and were very pleasant about it. I would have liked to thank the cook myself...but thought better to write this.
THANK YOU for being so accommodating. Oh, and in my opinion this is the BEST outdoor spot to eat in Los Gatos...great trees and people watching. And of course...duh...GREAT wine.

Been here many times.
They always treat me like I am royalty and treat my Fiance the same.
Food is spectacular especially the fondue!!
I'll be going here for many years to come.
With the warm weather I'll be dining more and more on the Wine Cellar patio by the lovely oak trees
The service is always great & accommodating. You can rotate through the standards on the menu and the specials, you'll always be happy. Lately I've been enjoying their Vermont Waldorf Salad - great combination of spinach, apples and extra's.
Down stairs is a cute, hide away bar - fun to meet friends for appetizers and drinks.

I've never posted a review on yelp before, but had to write about this restaurant! The Wine Cellar is fantastic. Making reservations online was a breeze (I'm not much of a phone person). Service was awesome. Our waiter was attentive and charming, but not too talkative. The buss staff was on it. We never had to ask for more water or bread... they beat us to it. My tortellini w/ sun-dried tomatoes and artichokes was scrumptious and my husbands sea bass was cooked perfectly. We went to celebrate a friend's Birthday and the overall experience made the night really enjoyable. This will be my top pick for my Birthday dinner. I can't wait!
Cannot beat the terrace and quality/price. Always nice food and great wine, and did i mention the terrace outside?
One of our favorites, and not only because it's just a 5 minute walk from our home :-)
Wow, I hadn't eaten here in years. My husband and I went tonight and had the special Silicon Valley Restaurant week menu. We both had the french onion soup and pork chop. They were both delicious. Onion soup was what it's supposed to be with the bread and bubbly cheese. Onion soup is sometimes salty. This wasn't. Pork chop was stuffed and really delicious. Crunchy sweet potato fries and cooked just right snap peas and carrots. Yum. For only $15 more, they offered a really great wine menu option. Generous pours so a great value. Dessert was really delicious too.
So I came here several months back during the summer. The restaurant itself is quite charming, great patio area for outside dining when it's warm, cozy feeling inside... come on, it's Los Gatos :) The food is pretty tasty, none of the ingredients are out of this world, but they're all prepared well and it's all very filling.
However, all this doesn't mean much when you're totally ignored by the staff. I mean, seriously, IT'S LOS GATOS. Maybe it's b/c we look young or we don't ooze that "i've got 293847287 Benjamins in my wallet and there's probably a few more stuck in my Porsche car seats" look but we were totally jilted on the service! And it's not like we ordered 1 entree to share between 2 people, we ordered a decent amount of food + drinks.
I suppose it's our fault for picking the pretentious places anyway :p

Saturday, after The Bunny Fun Hunt Extravaganza Festival of Stars™ at Los Gatos High, we walked here with our friends and their boy to eat on the patio while our kids slept in the strollers. If we had just stopped at Bloody Marys and bread, I would be giving 4 stars easily. The BM's were ok, but the atmosphere and the fact that my teething fussy kid was SLEEPING while I DRANK with FRIENDS was divine. The patio is really very nice.
Unfortunately our waiter was not at his best. He incorrectly entered one meal, and it took over 10 minutes for the new meal to come. He offered us nothing for this, and rolled his eyes and laughed when I asked that something be done about it. He gave us half price on the sandwich that was late. His attitude in general was negative, and I could tell it affected the performance of the other staff.
This bad service combined with food that did not match the price will prevent us from returning to this awesome patio, which kind of sucks!
This is one of the oldest restaurants in Old Town that did not get demolished. It's a classic place to go for lunch or dinner or late night. I'm not sure what the music schedule is anymore as the last time we were there no live musician was playing but we the food and service was great!
We had the portobello mushroon sandwiches.
Some may want to try their wines. You are afterall in a real wine cellar.
Bad bad bad daughter....waited until Mother's Day at noon to find somewhere to make dinner reservations. Good thing mom is one of those strange ones that likes to eat dinner early...yes, 4:00 early, and no, she's not a senior citizen yet. So I didn't have to fight the crowds and a 4:30 dinner reservation was made.
I've been here a few times before, and once again, they didn't disappoint. Had the short ribs - could've done without so much sauce and maybe a little horseradish, but still very tasty. Mom had the Ahi, served rare with rice and veggies....that's my fave here by far. AND....the dinner portions are huge. Neither of us finished our entrees so we could save room for dessert. I had an entire meal left!
Speaking of dessert....yes save room...you definitely have to try the fondue, it's a table favorite, but this time we went with the special of the day - tiramisu. Yummmmmm!
Once again, the Wine Cellar didn't disappoint. Great food and great service!
I've been putting this review off for over a year now and its purely for selfish reasons. I've always wanted to keep this little gem to myself, but since the yelp gods decided to make me Elite status, I have responsibilities now, so I guess its only fair I let you all know why the Wine Cellar is my #1 Los Gatos haunt.
First off the food... The Wine Cellar has an elegant but simple menu. They have had the same head chef for over four years but he hasn't lost any of his edge. All the dishes are top notch, with my favorite treat being the Abalone special, which is cooked to perfection. My lunchtime recommendations include the juicy Carna Asada sandwhich, the awesome Baja Tacos or the simple but hearty French Onion Soup. After a hard day at the office (cough), I always have a struggle deciding whether to go for the Sesame Ahi Tuna, the Duck Confit or the delicious Short Ribs. All amazing dishes and all are sure to fill you up.
As for the ambience, when I walked in and heard Zero-7 playing in the background, they had me hook, line and sinker. Outside, there's a great little patio for kicking back, chillin, enjoying a cocktail or three and doing a bit of people watching, Los Gatos style. Inside, its warm, cozy & inviting with just the right amount of mood lighting. It's no surprise this place has won awards for "Best place for a date" or "Best Romantic Restaurant".
The staff are young, vibrant, enthusiastic & helpful.
Finally, I couldn't complete this review without mentioning my favorite barman, Dave. He easily takes the Wine Cellar to a six star review. He has a thorough knowledge of wine, can make a mean cocktail, always knows when I'm ready for a refill and is entertaining, funny and sincere. By the time I grab my seat at the bar, there's always a fresh Stella or a Liberty waiting for me. What a guy...
(Enough with the poor Scottish jokes though dude!)

The Wine Cellar is one of my favorite restaurants in Los Gatos. On nice days, the patio upstairs is lovely to dine on. Finding parking in Old Town is a nightmare, but once you have a spot, all the charming restaurants and shops in donwtown Los Gatos are at your finger tips.
In recent years, the Wine Cellar has become our go-to place for brunch on Mother's Day and Father's Day. The breakfast menu is delicious and very reasonably priced. For brunch, they put out mixed fruit, muffins, and pastries. The lunch and dinner menu are great too, offering a wide selection of California-inspired dishes. And being that it is the Wine Cellar, there's a nice selection of wine to chose from as well.
The restaurant can handle a large party gracefully with reservations. They're on OpenTable, too, which is a huge plus in my book.
I needed a fancy restaurant to take my boyfriend to dinner to celebrate his birthday (see my review for La Fondue!) and found the Wine Cellar online. The pictures looked amazing and he decided on the spot that this was the place when he saw the picture of the sesame crusted Ahi tuna.
The restaurant has a beautiful interior, but it's kind of small, with a lot of tables packed into one area. I can see now why a lot of the reviews suggested requesting seating on the outdoor patio. We were seated in a small cozy booth with 2 large parties only 2 tables away. We ordered the crab cakes and the abalone. I haven't had abalone in about 15 years and I was in heaven! If I had known it was going to be that good, I would have gotten the full plate of it. They have an extensive wine list, as you might imagine, but we stuck to cocktails (they also have a full bar). We also ordered salads, which are dinner sized portions, and I had the double shrimp and avocado and he had the beet and goat cheese. For our main course, he chose the tuna, of course, and I indulged in a rib eye with Yukon gold mashed potatoes. We hardly had room for dessert, but I insisted that we get some cake to round out the whole "birthday celebration". The waiter was kind enough to stick a candle in it.
The service was (just) good: the hostess seemed kinda ditsy ("How many...2? Reservation for 2? Would you like a table for 2?" Really??) The gentleman who originally took our drink order was not our waiter and never returned (is this common for fancy restaurants?) Our waiter was nice, but kinda quirky. I think he saw 2 young kids and attempted to up his cool factor by deeming all of our selections as "awesome" and "yeah, cool, alright"-not what I expected. The busboy was probably the most helpful, clearing off our table of empties since we were at the smallest table in the place.
Overall, the food was spectacular and the restaurant is beautiful. It was fairly loud, what with all the close clustered tables and the fact that I could literally see the kitchen from where we were seated. It certainly didn't seem like they had a table waiting for us-they just sat us where there was an empty one. The prices are exorbitant, which is to be expected at this type of restaurant, but you're paying for the atmosphere and the fancy presentation. When we visit again, which I fully intend to do to get some more of that abalone, I will visit the Black Watch for a pint of kamis first and request a table on the patio.
After yet another in a long series of thoroughly enjoyable experiences at the Wine Cellar (this time the occasion was taking my brother to lunch), it seemed time to finally write a review. One of the many nice things about the Wine Cellar is that you can choose your surroundings to match not only the weather, but also your mood and dining partner. The intimate downstairs "cellar" is great for a romantic dinner or shelter from a cold or rainy day, while the shaded patio with views of the surrounding hills is an ideal venue on a typically cloudless summer day. Since the sun was shining, my brother and I opted for the patio where we shared the Dungeness Crab cakes appetizer and then followed with the Cranberry Chicken Salad (me) and Falafel Pita (him.) The food was terrific, with my salad elevated above & beyond what I'd expected by the crispy freshness of the greens and the exceptionally flavorful, tender chicken. The service was great, which has always been my experience here. This is one of my very favorite Silicon Valley restaurants, and I'll be back.
When I walk into the Wine Cellar it's guaranteed that I'll get the following:
-Great food. Every single meal I've had in this place is always cooked to perfection.
-Exceptional service. Most of the time Michael H and I will sit up at the bar (occasionally, we'll dine on the patio). If we're lucky, Dave will be working and he is such a sweetie pie. Always there to provide us with a good laugh - knows the menu inside & out (he is also extremely knowledgeable with the wine list) - and he gives the best hugs!! ;)
Warning: those damn stairs are quite a challenge after spending an afternoon with Dave and Mr. Grey Goose.

This is a nice restaurant with some unique appeal giving you the sense of being in a cellar while also providing some of the best outdoor seating available in Los Gatos. The food is good though priced as you expect from a nice restaurant. Make reservations and arrive early to hang out in the bar.
We made another visit to the Wine Cellar after the owner kindly wrote me with concern shortly after my previous Yelp review. Hey, she made it worth another shot! We made a reservation earlier that day and were given a really cute table in the top corner of the restaurant. The very warm and inviting environment made it a great place to relax and enjoy our meal!
We started with the swiss and gruyere fondue, which was tasty, but nothing out of this world. Then, our table received our orders: my husband and our friend got the duck medium rare which they both really, really loved, I got the chicken picatta which was super tasty and a very large portion, and our friend ordered the steamed mussels and clams, which seemed to be tasty for a smaller portion. We ordered a nice wine with dinner; the wine choices were reasonably priced and we made a very nice choice for our dinner.
Service this time was much better. The waiters and servers were attentive and not pushy. The ingredients in the food are very high quality and they have unique menu items. We were very happy with our choices, but I only knocked it down one star because of the overall menu prices... still more than I would have preferred to pay, but definitely worth a visit for a special occasion.

Yet another great restaurant in Los Gatos. Set below the Border's bookstore, the Wine Cellar is intimate and romantic. We went for dinner and were not disappointed. Food, decor and service were all very good.
I had the short ribs and my companion had the halibut. Both cooked to perfection and very tasty. The accompanients were also very good.
A nice wine selection list. Mixed drinks also looked very good.
Dessert was split with a chocolate, chocolate thingy. Tasty to the last bite.
Wine Cellar is certainly an upscale restaurant that competes well with California Cafe and Steamer's which are just nearby.
Prices are what to expect for such good food. The two of us got out for about $180 which included wine.
Very, very nice if you are in or near Los Gatos.

So the story to this place is, I did my friend a huge favor and he owed me a nice meal, and this is where he brought me for lunch. We ate on the outside patio and the weather was very nice which added to the nice quiet mood I was feeling.
Anyways, we ordered a bunch of food and shared...the best way to eat IMO ;)
The calamari they have here is very good...I think it tops my list actually. The squid that they use is very fresh and it's tender, not overly chewy. Yum! I got the lunch special and had a house salad, french onion soup, and a petite steak medallion. My friend got the same special, but with the crab cakes.
The salad was a salad...nothing to write home about...I really liked the French onion soup, and I'm glad they took the time to bake it. The steak was cooked exactly the way I wanted it, and was pretty big for the price of the lunch special. I liked the crab cakes too...lots of big pieces of lump crab, not too much batter, and had a nice mayo based sauce on top that had just the right hint of spiciness.
My friend ordered a cabernet for me, which got me pretty drunk...sad alcohol tolerance, I know. I only drank about 1/4th of it too...I had a great day wandering around this park, walking on the railroad tracks, and scaring little kids at the playground while I took over their swing set after lunch. Gotta love quiet afternoons.
Anyways, I digress. Come here and eat, it's pretty awesome. Be prepared to spend lots of money. Seriously.

Very very nice venue for outdoor dining. Lovely food with ample portions.
Favorites are: the fondue, the rare ahi, the ribs, the fried sweet potatoes, the beet salad and the desserts.
Happily uneaten portions can be taken home in RECYCLABLE CONTAINERS!!!!!
We would NOT recommend the eggplant dish. The proportions were off. It was overburdened with Gruyere cheese and a tough. It was served with sugar peas and slim slices of sweet potato that did not compliment the eggplant and spaghetti with tomato sauce at all. I think the chef should remove this from his menu.
Lovely, lovely outdoor venue. Great place to bring visitors from out of town.
Pros: nice interior
Cons: food was bad
As they were closing, it took some convincing to the chef for us to seat. That was a mistake because the chef clearly showed he was done for the day by the way the food tasted. My fish, whatever it was, tasted bland and chewy. The server seemed to want to quit the day as well, as subtle as he tried to be about it.
I'm not sure I would come back here. Perhaps it was because it was late in the evening, but they sure seemed like they didn't care whether I would come back to their restaurant or not
I'm 27. Lived in Los Gatos 27 years and the Cellar is an excellent local/family favorite. I live about a 9-iron away from the intersection of HWY 9 and N. Santa Cruz and Wine Cellar always makes the list of destinations to turn to for a solid meal, date, steady ingestion of wine and food.
Abalone app with mango salsa (at least that's what it was last time - change is good) is simply unforgettable and the duck con fit juicy satisfaction will have you making plans for a return visit - of course keep the steady ingestion of wine encouraged.
Patio slash evening slash summer slash wine is simply the best, better than all the rest.

Been here on dates as well as with groups of friends and have really really enjoyed myself.
Their fondue's to start and end your meal should not be missed. The lamb is off the charts good and the wine selection not all that bad.
I love the fact that you do walk down curling stairs into a "cellar" when you arrive at the restaurant, and I also like the warm cozy atmosphere once you are inside.

I give two stars becuz:
A. The place STUNK to high hell - like they mopped up with a sour mop. I was w/10 chicks - and we were all holding our noses for about 5 minutes. Why we stayed, I don't know! Lazy to go elsewhere I guess.
B. Place is called the Wine Cellar - you would think they would have a better wine selection
C. After getting a buzz of f bad wine, we decided to eat there. (Again, WHY we poured more $$ into this place, I don't know!) I ordered the Avocado and shrimp salad and it came with two shrimp and three thin slices of avocado on iceberg lettuce that was browning. lovely!
Oh, and PS. I got a headache about an hour after that from the crap wine.

what a great place to dine at during lunch on a warm sunny day... yes it was 75 degrees in January, but I had a lovely time sitting on the patio and ordering the chinese chicken salad which was great. I really enjoyed the ambiance and the food was good.. but parking was a b*tch.. thank goodness I got lucky and found a parking spot quickly.

Sangria - STRONG STRONG STRONG. We wanted some celebratory drinks so we decided to go with something light, fruity and fun. This was not the best choice for a recovering hangover!
We ordered the French Dip sandwich & the Pulled Pork sandwich. Both were tender and generous in portions, not to mention delicioso! They have an outside eating area that is lovely for an afternoon brunch, but we opted for inside dining instead. The restaurant itself is smaller than I had initially thought, but the service was fast & patient.

My friend and I had brunch here on a Sunday. I thought it would be more crowded at noon, but I guess most guests prefer their patio seating on a sunny afternoon, rather than the dark cellar (where we chose to sit). Since it wasn't that crowded, I thought their service was good. Our server greeted us promptly, took our order, and our food arrived shortly after. Their sangria was a bit strong for us (maybe because we were hungover) but it was the first time I saw my friend not finish a drink haha.
We had their French Dip and Pulled BBQ Pork sandwiches. Both were delicious. Their prices are ok, I think you're mostly paying for the ambiance and the location of the restaurant (situated in the center of downtown Los Gatos). The food was satisfactory enough for me; I would come back to try their dinner service.

Came here on Saturday night and we got seated in a booth that overlooked the entire dining room. This was great because the booths were up a level so you can look down at everyone else. The booths were spacious unlike the tables on the floor which seemed to be very close to one another. Highly recommend that you ask for a booth if you come here.
We started off with the swiss & gruyere cheese fondue which came with bread, vegetables, and apples. It was small in size but perfect for the 4 of us. Enough to take away some of our hunger pains but left room for our entrees. For entrees, we got:
* Parmesan crusted Halibut served with mashed potatoes, veggies with a tomato bisque sauce: this looked better than it tasted; 2 of us ordered this and found the fish tough and a bit tasteless, thus we were disappointed...
* 12 oz Rib-eye steak served on top of mashed potatoes, snap peas, and onion rings: this was actually quite delicious and it was huge! Definitely got your money's worth here! :)
* Shellfish risotto: served with shrimp and lobster. Portion was decent and was really tasty. My fork couldn't help but wandered onto my friend's plate a couple of times! : ) - yummy!!
We ended with the chocolate fondue as dessert..but was disappointed that you couldn't choose the kind of chocolate you want (ie white chocolate, milk chocolate, etc..) like you could at La Fondue. It seem to only come in dark chocolate which had a bitter taste to it.
Overall, the place was alright. The place was voted one of the most romantic restaurants but I can't see how. I mean the ambiance of the place was cozy but the noise level seemed to be pretty high. Not sure if it's because the restaurant is underground that conversations just bounces off the walls or what.

When I first made reservations for a nice evening out at the Wine Cellar, I didn't expect to walk into an "actual" cellar. When my girlfriend and I arrived, the hostess was extremely helpful and energetic. She gave us a quick run down of the menu since it was our first time there. It was in just a few minutes when we were seated.
The dining room was rather dark, but not too dark where we couldn't see our menus. Our waiter gave us an excellent description of the items that seemed to be favorites of the restaurant.
I ended up ordering the Fishermans Pasta, which was very good. Every part of the dish was cooked perfectly. The taste was absolutely amazing.
The service was great in the beginning, but as the restaurant become more and more crowded it became much more difficult to get the attention of our server. Unfortunately, it took us 20 minutes to order another bottle of wine that in turn took another 20 to arrive at our table.
In all, I would definitely visit the Wine Cellar again.
I've gone here with my gal pals and never been disappointed. DH and I were shopping in LG and started debating our lunch options. DH is all about economical quantity over quality. However, I convinced him this was the place to go. We were not disappointed! (Okay, I was a little, but it had nothing to do with bad quality, it had everything to do with good quality!)
I told him we must (must!) order the grilled artichoke appetizer. Upon that first scrape of that first leaf I knew I had regretted my decision that we share it as an appetizer. I wanted the whole thing! By that time, DH was well into his artichoke and was not about to relinquish one tiny leaf (okay dude, you're going to pay for that bit of selfishness). Our waiter assured me that the next time, I could order this appetizer as a lunch salad (oh yeah! - but DH is still in the doghouse). DH is all about sourdough bread and he wasn't disappointed.
Our salads were outstanding. DH has the shrimp Louie and liked the combination of bay shrimp and prawns. I had a wonderful cobb salad. I don't care for heavy ranch dressing that comes with most cobb salads and typically prefer a lighter, sweeter fruit-based vinaigrette like raspberry. While they couldn't offer me raspberry vinaigrette, they did concoct a sweet-mustard balsamic that just rocked on the salad.
Next time: The grilled artichoke is all mine!
