I am so excited to write this review because this place is amazing. It seems as though this place definitely has it's own very cool/chic-yet unpretentious vibe and it does a great job upholding it.

It was another date night stop for me and my boyfriend and we could not have been happier with our experience.

Atmosphere: Warm and cozy. The lighting is low, there are exposed beams in the walls, great music playing in the background, and happy patrons everywhere. I did not see one person who looked bored or anything less than utterly content. There were friends meeting, people on dates....such a cool crowd.  The only complaint is that the place is very small. Get there on the early side if you want to be seated immediately.

Service: Friendly and attentive. The waitress made excellent food and wine suggestions. She was smiling and joking with us the whole time and looked as though she genuinely enjoyed her job which is always nice.

Food. AMAZING. Everything was flavorful and delicious. This is not a place to go if you want a big, satisfying meal. At Wine:30 you go to snack, eat small plates (bruschettas, cheese, kabobs etc...) and have excellent wine. We drank a sauvignon blanc and a pinot grigio. Both were perfect. We sat for a loooong time and no one rushed us. The bruschettas were my favorite, hands down the goat cheese was the best I've had since I was in France a couple years ago. We also had the hummus, spicy beef lollipops, and zucchini pancakes. I'd recommend it all.

I could not have asked for a better evening. We literally stayed for nearly 3 hours and enjoyed every minute. You'll love this place.

*note* not a great place for big groups b/c of the limited space, keep the gathering intimate or take a date

3.5 stars. I want to give Wine:30 room to grow.

Sat at the bar both times I was there, drank (lovely) wine, and ate (tasty) bruschetta. The bartender (I missed her name) was sweet and helpful in making selections.

So why not more stars? Well, nothing was out-of-the-way stellar, to be honest. I didn't feel warm fuzzies about the atmosphere. The owner, who several people have mentioned in their reviews, barely acknowledged us (despite the fact that it was quiet both times). And while it's not super expensive, you're not getting any incredible deals, either.

I'll come back, and I really *want* to like Wine:30. The neighborhood needs a place like this. But 5 stars seems over the top, at least for now.

Came here after a sorority event at a pub around the corner. Found it on the Yelp application on my iPhone.

It was very crowded for a Wednesday night, but we were seated at a table right away. Which is a good thing, because there was no where to wait for a table, so we would have left if we had not been seated upon arrival.

The wine bar is small, but I did not feel too crowded, nor did it affect my ability to hear my friend across the table. The GM was always available and rushing around trying to make sure everyone was accommodated.

They had a large wine selection by the glass and both my white, Sauvignon Blanc, and my friend's red, Shiraz, were very rich and flavorful. We did not order any food, although we were extremely tempted due to the enticing aromas from passing trays.

This place definitely strikes me as a perfect date spot. I would not recommend it for large groups, as it is too small to fit everyone comfortably. It is also ideal for two friends on a Tuesday night who want to escape the sorority scene for a much more intimate "let's catch up and chat" scene. I would recommend this place to friends (and fellow Yelpers!)

This is a wine bar that other wine bars aspire to be like.

It's a bit small, but definitely cozy.  The ambiance is amazing! While I sat in there for almost 3.5 hours on a Thursday night, I felt like I was in a completely different locale, not NYC.  I want to have every evening like that one.  It helps that my company was amazing, but even the waitress could join in and that made it even more fun.

The food is amazing. I really have no complaints about this place. The wine and beer were fantastic and the food, well, a place that serves grass fed beef and free range chicken along with local farmed cheeses, has my vote any time of the day.

It also had awesome music in the background that did not detract from conversations going on by the guests.

I will definitely be returning to this place!

WARNING: If you're a douche-bag under 25, you'll probably hate this place, and this place will hate you.  Move along, now...nothing to see here.

Back to the review.

It's super cozy - perfect for a quiet, casual date. In fact, I think my friend and I were the only non-couple the night we went.  But it was cute and they played great music.  It was a warm night, so the front was completely opened up - perfect for summer nights.

I had the sliders and they were awesome, and apparently the beef was only grass-fed (which I was skeptical about, I usually like my beef to be fed only grain, gene-altering chemicals, and infectious diseases named after animals...that's how you get super-powers, right??).  The whole menu seems both healthy and hearty...I know...WHAT??

Conclusion: great environment, not crowded at all, great (healthy/organic/yuppy) food, great wine.  I shall return, and yeah...it's going on my list of go-to-non-douche-infested establishments in Murray Hill (there are too few).

My husband and I were in NYC for a few days for a wedding and general sight-seeing. One Sunday night, we woke up from a nap, realizing it was after 9:00 on a Sunday and we hadn't eaten dinner! Our hotel was a few blocks away from Wine:30, so we called to see if they were still serving food. They were, so we hustled on down. Upon entry, we were greeted by the smiling, open armed owner with a genuine "HELLOOOO! You just called, right? We're keeping the kitchen open for you- order whatever you want off the menu!"

We happily ordered a few of the small plates- hummus, hangar steak, and the sliders. My husband ordered a beer and I had a nice Malbec, deciding after the owner generously gave me a few samples of other selections. He made us feel absolutely welcome, un-rushed, and at home. Atmosphere-wise, it was quiet, great music (Calvin Harris, Crystal Castles, etc), and cozy.

The food was eyes-roll-to-the-back-of-your-head AMAZING. I would go back just for the sliders, but everything was perfect and delicious. If I could high five Wine:30, I would!

Very nice and relatively new Murray Hill alternative to all the crappy standbys. Small, cozy room and great service from the one-woman team (she was great). Very sold wine list (Primitivo by the glass!) and tasty cheese/meat platters, though the price/quantity ratio is certainly not where one would like it. But such is Manhattan. Overall, very nice after-work or lunch place if you can find room. Get there early.

Now with booze!  After a harrowing stretch as New York's best wineless wine bar, Wine:30 is now pouring, wine and beer.  Six reasons you should be here now:

1.  The food!  The food here makes this a wine bar even a teetotaler could love. Quality ingredients and simple preparation make for good eating.  I would suggest a few items, but really, everything I've had here has been brilliant, whether at lunch or late night.

2.  Wine!  Nice selection of wines, by the glass from 8 to 13 bucks, with a lot of other stuff by the bottle.  The $30 special (a bottle and a couple of small plates) is one of the best deals going.

3.  Palm on tap!  It's a great Belgian beer, but there's a couple of more drafts and a well-chosen list of bottles to pick from.

4.  It's on 30th Street.  Unless you live or work around here, you've probably never been to 30th Street.  A new adventure.

5.  Good music!  I don't know who put together the playlist, but it's genius.

6.  Cool people!  Probably the best reason to come here.  Volkan is one of the most instantly likable people you'll meet, but everyone here working here is really cool.

I came in with a girlfriend from work to take advantage of a special we saw advertised outside -- $30 for a bottle of wine and 3 appetizers (1 dip and 2 bruschettas).

We had a bottle of chardonnay, the hummus dip, a sundried tomato + mozzerella bruschetta, and an heirloom tomato bruschetta.  The waitress pronounced the H in "heirloom" so it sounded like "hair-loom" when she plopped the juicy orange cubes onto our table, but it was so delicious I didn't even notice.  Girlfriend and I were both amused by the plastic wine bag filled with ice water that served as the chiller.  (Is that word? Is that what it's called?)

Inexpensive, not crowded, delicious and got the job done.  Ambiance inside is nice, but if you look outside you're on 30th St, so don't expect quality people watching.

I'm really impressed with this place! With so few good lunch options in the area, it really stands out. The $11 lunch combo is great: You can't go wrong with the brie and baked apple sandwich and salad or soup. I haven't been for dinner yet, but I'll definitely spend my next happy hour downing some appetizers and a bottle of wine with friends here!

After having worked near 28th and Park for almost 2 years, I was very glad to see the Wine Down (now Wine: 30) flag flying on 30th one day.  Finally, I had the chance to stop in for a quick lunch with a friend and I have been going back every since.  From the amazing salads, soups and atmosphere to the gorgeously stacked bottles of wine, Wine: 30 has everything you need to satisfy your lunch needs.  I haven't been back for dinner or brunch, but it will be happening.  If the rest of their menu is as good as my lunch has been, this place will not only be sticking around, but knocking down walls to make room for growth.

Hats off to the Chef and keep sending out the kick ass food!!

Wine Down may now be Wine:30, but nothing's really changed.  This place is still amazing.

Actually, what am I talking about?  This place has changed a LOT since the last time I reviewed it.  They now have a full and vibrant wine menu to go along with their much needed liquor license.  I guess that is a pretty HUGE change.

But the heart of Wine Down... err.. Wine:30... hasn't changed the owner and staff are still extremely friendly, and the food remains its secret weapon.  I've enjoyed a number of dishes off their growing and ever changing menu, but the apple and brie sandwich still haunts my dreams.

After enjoying a particularly delish tex mex salad, with a covering heavenly cilantro dressing my boyfriend and I found out they also offered brunch (also known as the best meal of the day).

After a week or so we returned and were wowed yet again. I always like to say I'm going to get pancakes (or french toast) and end up getting eggs. I just always give in to savory but this Sunday afternoon I stuck to my guns and ordered up the french toast - the true test of any brunch place worth going to. AWESOME. SCRUMPTIOUS. DROOL.

Of course, sweet isn't really a hangover cure and for those of you considering a stop in for brunch but in need of meat and eggs to quell your post drinking stomach... there is something for you too! My boyfriend got the steak and eggs of which I unceremoniously stole a bite or two ;) The steak was tender, the eggs fluffy.

But really, take it from a savory-a-holic... check out the french toast!

amazing sandwiches and tasty looking salads. i LOVE the look and feel of this place. Wood beams across the ceiling, brick wall with large mirrors along the bar, blackboard sections and modern wood wine racks.

I've enjoyed two incredible lunches here so far.  This place has only been open a short time but their attention to detail in the simple menu offerings and service is wonderful.  I've had the Roasted Chicken sandwich and the Ham and Gruyere, both were delicious.  The liquor license is coming soon from what we were told, which will make this place that much more appealing.

Highly recommend trying this out, especially given the limited alternatives in the area.

I really like this place.  Very small, cozy spot on 30th.  They have a lunch special..salad or soup and sandwich for $11.  Nice.  I was in a party of 5 and they accommodated us no problem.  We had the trio tray as an appetizer.  Delicious!  The tabbouleh was very tasty, not bland like most.  I ordered the turkey sandwich for my meal.  Fantastically delicious!  I don't know what they put on this sandwich, but it had a ton of flavor.  I ordered a sangria, which they usually only serve by the pitcher.  Again, they were very accommodating.  Love this little spot and will definitely come back.  Not a good place for large groups.  Oh, and it's now Wine:30, but the Wine Down flag is still flying.  Very friendly staff. I recommend!

The great lunch debate occurs at approximately 11:45am among my peers and coworkers in an office space straddling Madison Square Park. This debate typically ends in the lot of us telling Peter D to find us some grub via his particularly potent yelping skills. After some grumbling he usually complies since he likes being bossed around by the women in his life.* One splendid day, however, I was forwarded a review from Grant C on this newly opened gem only walking distance from our office and without any bossing around, Peter agreed to try it with me.

So we finally journeyed over to the much raved about Wine Down, a tiny place right around the corner from Subtle Tea. Taking a seat at the window, the owner greeted us and announced excitedly that he had just--that day--received his liquor license so we could expect wine galore on our next visit. Since we'd read the reviews on Yelp already, we didn't mind the sparse beverage menu and instead indulged in a soup and salad and two entrees which we divided up so both of us got to try everything. While we ordered the tomato thyme soup, he brought out the gaspatcho which ended up being pretty tasty so we didn't bother sending it back. I usually hate gaspatcho so the fact that I ate this version speaks volumes. The salad was small and light, just a blip. The sliders were good quality with one problem: the cheese was hardly melted. Now I know it doesn't take much to melt gruyere, so it's likely the dish was served a bit cold. The chicken on french bread sandwich was incredible, perfectly flavored and easily devoured. All this for about $11 each made for a satisfying lunch. The owner/server really made the whole meal fun. He was so full of life that his happiness was infectious and it was hard to leave!

Great food, great prices, and since they just got their wine license, they let us in on plans for happy hour where the offering would be $30 for a bottle of wine and three appetizers. I will, of course, have to test this for myself!

The friendly smiles upon entering had me wondering if I was still in NY, but after getting to know the owner/operator Volcon (sp?) and his wife Catherine, it was easy to see why his guests were so pleased.  Having recently received his liquor license (as proud as a new father he was), the wine was pouring freely (both in portions and cost)!  Being here felt like being part of a big family - and I immediately new my gf and I would be lifetime guests.  Haven't eaten a meal there yet, but the decor (remodeled by Volcon himself) alone makes me believe the food is tasty.  Give it a try - you'll be family before you get to dessert!
