Review from Chris C.
Nice pub/bar area in the upstairs with a relaxed atmosphere. Tons of bar seating, high tops and regular tables with lots of TVs so you can catch all the sporting events. The service was decent although a little slow, but I think that was because there are not enough servers when the place is really packed.
So while you are waiting there is a free serve yourself popcorn machine. I haven't tried it yet, but it does always smell go. For beer selections they keep it to mostly VT local brews although they do carry the macro brews on tap as well. The appetizers are the best thing at this place. They have very good wings in an assortment of sauces, but I prefer the maple habenaro sauce. They also make a good pretzel with a beer cheese sauce made with Switchback Ale.
The best thing about this place is that the prices are pretty low so its a great choice for quick drink and cheap snack. -

When I lived in Burlington, I used to love coming to the WIndJammer for the Salad Boat. I'm a salad kind of girl and this was heaven! The Entree's were good as well, I usually ordered a fish, it was always delicious. Salad Boat!!!

We went here for my friend's rehearsal dinner the night before her wedding. There were no rooms available at the time, so they shoved us all into a corner in different booths. Not their fault at all, but it was a little cramped.
Drinks were okay - my vodka tonic was HUGE. My friend ordered a sidecar, which they didn't prepare correctly. Her husband ordered a neat whiskey and that had no idea what that meant. Minus points for you.
Salad boat is just that - lots of options, which was nice. They had some cabot cheese and crackers, which was a good addition to what they already had.
I ordered the aged NY Strip and it was good. They do have a HUGE menu of so many different things - lots of different cuts of beef. My steak was a little bit on the fatty side, but cooked exactly how I ordered it.
This wouldn't have been my first choice of a place to eat, but it was pretty good for what it was. -

Margarita was just ok. Pork burger with tarragon aioli was amazing, sweet potato fries were not crisp. great service, very loud (we ate upstairs) definitely not a disappointment.

I use to be a fan of this place - the waitresses can be hit or miss, but the last time there has kept me from going back. I was there with one of the local distributors just to stop in and grab a bite and quick drink. We are very outgoing people and apparently if you laugh too much they wont serve you. The waitress refused to serve me and the distributor a beer at about 6PM - she was also very rude about it, if we weren't so hungry we would have gotten up and left.
When you get a polite server - the food is great and the salad bar is like no other. -

Basically chose to eat at the Windjammer because they were able to accomodate a party of 11 on the eve of the Vermont City Marathon.
Very large restaurant...it looked like they had a wedding party and a prom gathering there that evening and still managed to seat our large party in a nice, quiet corner room. Very pleasant atmosphere.
Choices were plentiful on the menu for both adults and the kids in the party. Portions were generous - we chuckled over the chicken tenders served to a five-year old in the party...the meal would have fed him for a week.
Most in the party had seafood - very nicely done. A half-chicken dish was also very good - someone did order chicken teriyaki and was not completely impressed.
Staff was pleasant and attentive. Very nice evening all around - we'll be back for the marathon next year and we'll no doubt return to the Windjammer. -

After walking around all of downtown Burlington and stopping in every restaurant only to be told there was a 1.5-2 hour long wait for a table, we decided to look elsewhere. So we found the Windjammer, but we actually ate at their "upper deck pub", the upstairs part of the restaurant. It's a nice bar-. Large seating area- and nice tvs everywhere. They had local beers on tap- tried the Good Night Irene Long trail and Northshire's Equinox pilsner. Both not bad- but spectacular either. For food, we just ordered apps- pretzel with switchback ale cheese fondue and the wings with maple chipotle BBQ. Both very good- and very filling- and most importantly everything was very inexpensive. And the service was good too. So in my head I was toying with the idea of giving them 4 stars, but maybe just 3 because I wasn't away or anything, but then the check came and we were given Andes mints with the check! The perfect little finishing touch- thus I have granted to them a score of 4. Not sure I would make a point to stop in here again, on a Saturday night when all the restaurants are crazy busy- if I was ever really hungry and didnt want to wait, I know the Windjammer would be there to save me.

Yum!!! Whether you're upstairs or down stair this place kicks butt. The salad bar is amazing, fresh made bread, miles of toppings. I love that they even have roasted garlic cloves.
The calamari upstairs always leaves me wanting more. It is a work of art, piles of breaded squid with spicy red sauce and jalapenos. I make it a point to go here at least once every visit. It's probably my favorite burlington area restaurant. -

We arrived about a half an hour before the restaurant closed, which can often spell doom for your dinner plans (i.e. cranky wait staff, poorly cooked food). Not the case with Windjammer.
Atmosphere was nice, dimly lit, clean. Romantic. Waiter was friendly and fast, though our wine glasses did run dry.
Unimpressed by the salad bar, made the restaurant feel a bit cheap.
The menu has a lot to choose from and I give them compliments on their large selection of wines. Our food was good, though my salmon was slightly under cooked in the middle, but the steak was cooked perfectly. Generous portion sizes. The creme brulee was a delicious follow up to the meal.
We would definitely eat here on our next visit to Burlington. -

I was visiting Burlington with someone and looking for a place to eat dinner on the last night of the trip. Windjammer had a nice atmosphere, great service, delicious food (Filet Mignon & NY Sirloin/Teriyaki chicken), great salad bar, good drinks (Sailor's Delight) and dessert (Kahlua mousse).
Will definitely return next time I'm in the area if I'm looking for a low-key place to relax and eat outside of downtown Burlington.
P.S. House salad dressing (dill ranch) is also highly reccomended. -

I've been going to this place for years. I most definitely recommend anyone in the area should check it out. They have the best salad bar on the East coast. My favorite thing to order would be prime rib of course, cooked to perfection.

Picked this place out based on a couple reviews for a nice dinner during a recent stay in Burlington. When we pulled in the parking lot we started to debate giving it a shot, we have a rule against restaurants attached to hotels... We decided to give it a go...
I'm glad we did, this place was great! Maybe one of the best cooked steaks I have ever had. All the beef is dry aged and the seafood is fresh daily. They have a salad bar that is top notch included with the meal. Clean and well stocked. Good beer list and an even better wine list. Our waitress was amazing! Truly a perfect dining experience... -

It is a casual steak house with good food and a very nice salad bar. We ate here twice while we were in Burlington and enjoyed both our meals.
The staff seemed very friendly and were there when we needed them. The menu is large and has an emphasis on steaks. We especially liked that many of the desserts can be ordered as half portions. They were very good and were not too big to have after a big meal. -

Went here with my husband, son, mom-inlaw, dad-inlaw, sister-inlaw, brother-inlaw, grandmother and aunt. We all loved the salad/bread/cheese bar. The drinks were good, mojito for me, gin and tonic for the hubby, then beer and wine for everyone else, except our toddler of course, he had apple juice, straight up. Everyone enjoyed their meals, I had a pork tenderloin with panchetta stuffing (that's my pre-vegetarian days), and everyone else had steak, and we didn't find it too expensive. I would eat here again next time we're in Burlington.

My boyfriend and I went here for dinner during restaurant week and were both disappointed. The portions were smaller than expected even given that we were getting a deal. Most of the meal was mediocre at best. The steak was disgustingly fatty but the salad bar was good.
The salad bar will not disappoint but the rest of the menu will. -

Read the earlier reviews, ate in the upstairs pub. Fish was excellent, service was fine, atmosphere was congenial, and upbeat. Plan on stopping here again when in Burlington.

Being a New Yorker I don't usually like these "formula" retaurants. This place, though, had the best prime rib I have had in years. Gracious service, inexpensive wine list and superior salad bar made the dinner a complete success. I highly recommend it.

This place is great! Being a frequent traveler I'm normally very wary of hotel restaurants as they are normally fairly stock, but this is a different story. The food and service is always excellent and they have the best salad bar in town!
