Best Auto Part store in the area! So much better than a Kragen or other discount store... These guys know what theyre talking about! They are fantastic on customer service and are there to help you. [[Not to mention some of the handsome strapping young lads in the back. Blonde haired blue eyed eye candy ;) ]]
Bottom line is if you need parts winchester is the ONLY right choice. -

I can say my automotive experience is very low. I am what you would say somebody that is happy to know the difference from the battery to the tires. So not really knowing how to replace something, I was going to try and change my disc brakes on my Chevy Tahoe, everybody in my family was being to look for another car we can buy because they know this might take sometime like months before this would be done.
I arrived at Winchester Auto Parts store, without knowing exactly what I needed to get the job done, I told the guy at the counter, and right away he wanted to make sure I was asking for the right items, we walked to the back parking lot, so he could see exactly what I needed, after that he knew I needed disc brakes and brake pads for my Chevy Tahoe. He went to the back room and a few minute later, he had all the parts out front for me and already ringing my sale. At the time I also asked him if they had an emergency brake cable, which he looking on their computer systems and said they did not have it in stock, but can order it. When he said that I was thinking a few day to get in, he told me it would be a few hours and they would have it in. I said go ahead and ring the purchase up including the item they needed to order.
When I got home, I began to replace my disc brake and brake pads on my Chevy Tahoe, which took me about 2 1/2 hours because you have to remember I do not know what is going on, but with some instructions it was very simple. During this time, I did receive a call from Winchester Auto Parts to let me know my part that was order was already in and ready for me to pick it up. To make a long story short, I did get my brake replaced and everything was working perfect, which made me very happy.
Later in the afternoon, I went to Winchester Auto Parts to collect my special order and would replace it sometime Monday, so I road tested my new brakes, and what better place to go.
When I arrived home, I noticed the emergency brake item was incorrect, and I would need to be returning it back. When I did this Monday afternoon, they guys at the counter check the item to make sure it was not a used part I was trying to return, I completely understood that, and once he verified that it was the new part, he refunded my item that was incorrect without any problems.
Overall if you are an experience automotive mechanic or somebody like me not really knowing what they are doing, this is one of the only places you should be coming to. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and know what is needed to get the job done right. I look forward to getting some other items repaired on my Chevy Tahoe and with the help of Winchester Auto Parts, I know it will get done right. -

The guys behind the counter here are really great. I called to find an alternator for my 2002 Honda civic after going into another parts shop that was out. They held it behind the counter for me and had it ready to go when I got there. I'll be returning here soon for more of my auto needs, just hope it's things like cleaning products or oil and not parts.

With all this rain we've been having, I noticed that my windshield wipers weren't doing as well as last rainy season. I don't trust oil changing places to not overcharge me for poor quality wiper blades so I thought I'd just get some good ones at an auto store and put them on myself.
I went to Winchester Auto Parts (that's what the big red sign on the front of the store says) because of Laura R.'s review although it's farther from my house than two Kragens. I know that my blades are two different sizes and thought the guys at Winchester Auto would be more willing and able to look up the right sizes for me.
I almost gave up because I saw "Winchester Works" first, which is just an auto shop, but Winchester Auto Parts is just a block north. They have a small lot in the back where I saw some guys helping another customer with his car. Inside there were a few middle-aged guys that looked like real auto professionals instead of high school dudes. I told the guy behind the counter that I needed wiper blades for a 2005 Honda Accord and he told me to wait a sec.
He came back 5 minutes later with some blade refills and the wiper blades from my car! I was surprised but not upset since they're easy to remove and the guy obviously knew what he was doing. He used my blades to find the right size refills, put them on for me and then walked out back with me to put the blades back on my car.
The guys here are helpful, friendly and not at all sketchy. This is a great auto store with employees that know what they're doing and seem to really care about their customers. -

Ive came here many many moons ago.
Recently I had a cop pull me over and give me a warning for not having a headlight. I guess you need both lights to drive the mean streets of San Jo. Go figure.
So as not to get an offical ticket....I decided to go back to Winchester Auto Parts. They were friendly last time...let's see if it was the same.
I drove up, parked in the back and although the sign says: NO AUTO WORK IN PARKING AREA. There were either hella leaky cars of the patrons just didn't get caught doing an oil change.
Either way, I sauntered in and got some fuses. Replaced the ones in my car....still no light. Dammit! I thought I was gonna have to break my piggy bank and spend at least 70 bucks for a new headlight.
The gentleman...who I wanted to call Big Poppa cause he was so welcoming and seemed like your neighbor who would offer you a hand in an oil change... Anyhow....he got me a bulb and he offered to put it in my car if it was easy.
I popped the hood...and PRESTO! He switched out my bulb and then I went back in to pay for it.
I love this place and will be my auto supply store from now on. They seem much more knowledgeable than those bloomin bears at Kragens and Pep(to) Boys. -

WOW! I don't go into many auto parts stores these days, but this one gets 5 stars! Had a broken water pump with a severed shaft.
Kyle, with the ok by the boss, took a tourch and proceeded to heat the broken rod until it was lose enough to unscrew it off. They saved me a lot of time and headach. It also is a very well maintained shop.
thanks again. -

This place is a lifesaver. On a Saturday, my engine light came on and the engine starting knocking. I've been through this before with my Audi so I knew that one of the ignition coils failed.
Never in my wildest dreams did I expect to find a parts shop nearby with an ignition coil for my 2001 Audio. Sure enough, they had it and it was less than $40.
Goto any mechanic and they'll charge you $200-400 to replace this. It takes 5 mins to do. Thankfully this place had what I needed and saved the day for me. -

These guys are great! I have been to Winchester Auto Parts twice now and both times they were extremely helpful, they even went out of their way to use an impact wrench to remove a lock nut from a strut I was having trouble with, now that's service!
They are always well staffed, which makes it really easy to get service when you need it, and their prices seem very reasonable! There are probably about half a dozen auto part stores between my house and Winchester Auto, and that is fine by me, Winchester will always have my business! -
Review from Lorrie M.
My ex-boyfriend used to work for Winchester Auto Parts so I got to know the business pretty well. I think they're pretty good when delivering parts to shops and ordering parts to get here on time. Most of the employees and staff there are very helpful and are always ready and willing to not only just answer your question and give you the right product, but educate you on why it is the answer and why that product is good.
They also have a pretty decent selection of car parts and detailing supplies which will satisfy any enthusiasts need to keep their car well maintained and sparkling new. -

Great service here, compared to other auto parts stores. I called a few places for brake pads, and no one could tell me the correct part. When I called Winchester, Kyle helped me. He said it was complicated because there were different brakes for depending on my engine type. He spent a lot of time and figured out the correct part, and got it right. The other stores wanted me to bring the old pads in so they could figure out what I needed, obviously not convenient. I appreciated the excellent customer service, and the reasonable prices. They are always busy, but have plenty of people working at the counter so the wait is minimal.

Why waste your time running endlessly around at the so called discount auto parts places only to get the wrong part. The helpful people at Winchester Auto Parts have been providing me the right part every time for the past 20 plus years. If I need a part for my cars I will always patronize the place that is always helpful and treats me like a valued customer!

These guys are ridiculously AWESOME! After 45 minutes of calling two different AutoZones and being put on hold multiple times, I decided it was time to jump on Yelp and give these guys a call. Not only did they have the item I had in stock, they actually TALKED to me. The person that answered the phone was able to answer all my questions... I wasn't transfered around at all. I have decided to go to these guys for all my car needs.

I live across town, and it's inconvenient to go there, however I do it becuase I can always be confident they will sell me the right part, and if i have to order it, it comes in on time as promised. I drive an older car, and use 20/50 wieght oil. Compared to the other automotive parts dealers who only carry 10/40, Winchester Auto Parts is one of the few that carry the heavier wieght oil, and if you purchase a case of the store brand, they throw in an oil filter FREE ! The staff acts proffessional, and polite, and for the many years I have been delaing with them, they always sell me the right part !

I went to this place with low expectations that they would have the turn signal bulb for my 1999 Golf. I pulled into there parking lot in the back where they had the back door open "For Employee's Only". A sign directed customers to the front entrance. One of the employees saw me pull up, and hurriedly disappeared back into the store. When I went around front into the store, he was at the counter and greeted me with a "How may I assist you". To cut the story short, they had the unique bulb I needed, for a very low $3.50-ish price. Service was first rate. This place is getting all my future business. So much better experience than any of the other discount places.

Never had these guys do any work for me, but for a while they were the only place I could purchase the synthetic oil I run in my car, so points for that. Otherwise seems like a nice store, way better than a Kragen or Autozone.

I hate Kragen. I really do, and Winchester Auto is why. Unlike our fine franchised friends, Winchester Auto's techs actually know something about cars (not just modding) and are willing to go the extra mile to help you find the right part and get it ASAP, even if this means calling around for you. Just tonight, Alex spent about an hour helping me track down the right parts for my poor old Corolla. More helpful guys there have never been! Thanks Alex!

I was very impressed with this place. We went by for some parts for my 1999 Saturn that has been "acting up" and found the clerk to be very helpful. It turned out the part I needed was unusually expensive. Not only did he go on the Internet to get information for me, but he called another store and found another place where I could get the part for less money. My advice is, go here for parts before you go anywhere else!

Review from San S.
Emeryville, CA
These guys are excellent. Friendly, knowledgeable, and cheap. I compared prices with other stores several times in the last few months and they have always been the cheapest.
The last time I went in was to get wiper blades. Gary came back to look at my car as different models have different configurations, then gave me a couple of options. I chose the most economical and asked how difficult it would be to change them. Gary came out to the parking lot and showed me how to do it by changing the wipers for me.
I don't even bother comparing prices with other stores now. I just go straight here and get what I need. Feel free to call ahead -- they always seem unhurried when serving you over the phone, taking the time to get all the details, give you options, answer your questions, and give you the lowest price you will find anywhere. More power to this store!
