I FINALLY had lasik and choose Dr. Boothe because a good friend recently used him and said he was great. Well, great HE was, but man, I felt like I was in a round of cattle signing up, getting the surgery and visiting appointments.
I was a little disappointed with the way his office is set up. Based on how many clients he sees and how many people on a daily bases go through there, I expected something nicer and better laid out.
When I first got there I was slightly pushed around by not very friendly staff (though I have had nicer staff since then). I was actually thinking "what did I do" until I met Dr. Boothe. He's a quiet man, but he made all the difference in me finally seeing without contacts and glasses.
If you are willing to go through the cattle call, I would say it's worth it.
I got Intra-LASIK surgery this past Friday from Dr. Boothe. This is probably one of those life-changing events. I have worn glasses/contact lenses since I was in elementary school. Now I don't have to deal with that. That means extra precious minutes of sleep before work. That in itself is already a fraking great deal! No more wasting money on optometrist appointments, contact lens solution, and ripped lenses. Goodbye to glasses marks left on my nose and ears.
Dr. Boothe and his staff are very knowledgeable in what they do. I believe I saw some statistics which show Dr. Boothe as having performed (most experienced) the most intra-LASIK procedures in the world. The waiting room is always packed with people who want to get 20/20 vision.
That leads to the only downside of my experience. Because of the demand for Dr. Boothe..the wait time is horrendous. Be sure to plan out your day..because you may have to spend the whole day in the office waiting. There are so many different tests that are needed to make sure your eye is healthy enough and a proper candidate for LASIK or PRK. It may seem that you are treated like cattle moving from station to station, but it is done efficiently as possible so that everyone can have the gift of sight.
