Amazing view, beautiful grounds, friendly and super knowledgeable staff, great wine club and wines that range from great values for everyday drinking to superlative Oregon Pinot Noir capable of long aging. It is a must-see for anyone visiting Oregon wine country.

Has anyone mentioned the staggering, awesome wine valley view? It's true. Willakenzie is a beautiful spot to experience Oregon wines at their finest. The pinots are amazing and the tasting room staff that I tasted with were friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. I took home some bottles and signed up for their club. From talking about this winery with friends who are members already, I am super excited for my first club event!

I took my mom here for Mother's Day and had a really great time. Wonderful Pinot Noir plus some white wines as well which was really refreshing after having so many pinots at other wineries. I liked the staff, they were friendly and totally unpretentious. This is a must-see winery for anyone new to the valley because of its quintessential NW vibe.

We loved the wines at this vineyard. Gracing the walls at this tasting room were many honorary letters from the White House, spanning a few decades, noting exactly which wine was served at which dinner.
WillaKenzie was named after the soil and not somebody. The wines we tasted were all really good, and had a hard time deciding which bottle to take back with us.
We had:
2007 Pinot Blanc
2007 Pinot Gris
2006 Pinot Meunier
2006 Pinot Noir Willamette Valley
2006 Pinot Noir Thibaud's Cuvee
2005 Pinot Noir Aliette
Tasting fee was only $5 and is refundable with wine purchase. The tasting menu and description cards were helpful in explaining what flavors to expect. Elke was very friendly and gave good advice as well.
We bought a bottle of the 2006 Pinot Meunier.
Overall this was an excellent wine tasting experience. There is a little patio outside where you could sit and enjoy your wine. On site is also where they make the wine. Pretty interesting stuff.

My vote for friendliest tasting room in the valley! Sherry (WillaKenzie employee) was great!
We loved the wines, especially the single vineyard ones. Try the Clone 115!
Great discounts for Cellar Club members. Even the clothes are affordable there. This place was the polar opposite to Domain
Serene in attitude, but the wines were just as tasty and a helluva lot more affordable. Be sure to check it out.Listed in: I don't Shop, I Buy

I've been a member of the Willakenzie Cellar Club for about 6 years now, having found this winery a year or so after moving here.
I immediately fell in love with the winery and the rolling hills... and then.. I tasted the wine... wow.. I'm not going to get all wine geeky on you.. but this is pinot done right....
I have about 4 cases of willakenzie in my cellar that are getting better every year... just opened the 2004 alliette.. ( a single vineyard pinot.).. and wow... can't say enough.
If you join the cellar club, you recieve 4 shipments a year ( between 2-6 bottles depending on the type of membership you choose ).. these wines are discounted up to 30%, plus you get great case deals ( these wines are definitely worth buying in bulk... drink a few each year and enjoy them as they improve with time )
Members also recieve 4 or 5 invitations a year to special members only events... one of my fav's is "day in the vineyard'... it's a full day touring the winery, learning more about the process and really getting to know the people who make your wine. Interspersed with all that learning is a lot of wine drinking and fantastic food. Can't rave about it enough. -

Another great winery in the Yamhill county. While planning out my weekend in Portland, I got a lot of winery suggestions from locals and Willakenzie seemed to be a local favorite among many. Willakenzie Estate is farther out than most other wineries but that doesn't seem to stop anyone from visiting and trying their selection of wines. When we came on an early Saturday afternoon, a group of 10-15 were there just finishing up a winery tour, and there were also 4-5 other small groups.
The winery is relatively small in terms of facility space, but is surrounded by fields and fields of grape vines. For the wine tasting, we had around 6-7 different wines, each with a comprehensive sheet of information. The sheets proved to be helpful since the Willakenzie folks couldn't spend much time explaining everything as they were busy serving everyone else in the room.
Right outside the tasting room is an outdoor patio which is another perfect area for sharing a bottle of wine or just have lunch and catching up on life. Perfect setting for a sunny summer afternoon. -

We've always been a fan of Bernard Lacroute and his Silicon Valley Exploits (Sun, Kleiner Perkins) so when we read in the SV Biz Journal that he had his own winery we had to go check it out.
You kind of need a NAVI in your car to find this treasure of a Winery! It isn't something you'd be likely to stumble upon otherwise!
The trip is worth the effort because the wine is soo good! I liked the 2006 Estate Grown Pinot Noir Thibaud's Cuvée which can only be found in limited numbers at the winery and at the che che Village Pub in woodside. We've also had some luck finding their other offerings at the Wine Club in Santa Clara.
Got a nice smile out of seeing the Winery map of the Santa Cruz Mtns in the restroom (which happens list my favorite David Bruce Winery). Nice to know that even though Bernard has given up Silicon Valley for the Willamette Valley he still has some fondness for the place he made it big! -

Arrived by bike on a whipping wet wintry January day. The staff were friendly to us, the wines were complex and flavorful, the flight was spendy at $15 (unless you bought something)--but re-pours and pours of wines not in the flight list were offered, so staff weren't being stingy.
The feel is extremely professional and worldly--not a bad thing, but something to be aware of if (like Garrett below) you're looking for a folksy Oregon style place. Come on--they serve this stuff for the POTUFS (f standing for you-know-what). I'm from California, so I'm allowed to say this: it feels very California. -

Nice looking grounds and wonderful views. The wines are so, so and the most surprising was the complete lack of caring from the staff, very unpleasant, not helpful and overall seem to really not wanting to be there.
I have been there years ago and found it be a great place to stop. Time changes everything, the wine is not for me. -

Ugh. The experience here during the second stop on a bicycle-based winery tour made our group wish we'd stayed at Cana's Feast Winery all day.
The staff's grumpiness made us wonder if we were still in Oregon.
We'd RSVPed days in advance, and called earlier in the day to update our arrival time. When the first of our pack pulled onto the grounds at one minute before our scheduled time, he was told by a patron who was leaving that we'd better hurry up - the staff had grumbled to the other visitors while they'd poured the first of our group's taste flight well prior to our arrival. The experience went downhill from there.
I'd forgive the service somewhat if the wine was up to snuff compared to neighboring vineyards. It is not, but that doesn't mean that it's any cheaper. Decent pinot gris. Overall, the flight of reds ranged from overly simple to unpalatable.
Good view, though.
Pluses: Pretty grounds, better than a kick in the groin.
Minuses: Mediocre wine, lousy value, and the meanest staff this side of an S&M club. -

This was our 3rd stop on the wine tour by limo. Yes all 10 of us were feeling pretty good by now. But we just LOVED the patio, view, arbor, front doors and landscaping of this place. It felt like another world. As for the wines, they were excellent. But the employee was quite rude. When my best friend said she'd like to buy a certain bottle of wine ($55) but could she first have one more small taste of it first, the employee asked her "are you sure you can afford that wine?".
