If you're looking for a sports bar in Tuscaloosa, this is the best of the bunch.

The owner, Bill, is an all-around great guy, and the servers are quick and friendly. I've also come to like the food, which is pretty good for pub grub. Finally, as others have mentioned, the beer selection is outstanding.

    Roll tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide.

Boy, was I in Bama country when we visited yesterday for my boyfriend's music gig. This appeared to be the spot to hang out, wear red, and pre-game the night before the Alabama - LSU game. When we first made our way to Wilhagan's (at the urging of the event organizer for his gig), we were told that there was at least a 30 minute wait for a interior table (some patio tables were open but it was chilly out) and approximately 90 minutes for food order. W.O.W. I didn't realize that sports bars were the mad trend for the season?

She ended bumping us up in just a few minutes after she found out that were linked to the event organizers which was nice but I wondered if anyone else was willing to wait that long? Once seated, I enjoyed viewing the extensive beer menu which included my faves Chimay ($8) and Abita too. At times the serves seemed confused on who was assigned to our table too. They warned us that the regular menu would definitely be around the 90 minute wait but that we could get appetizers such as chips and salsa, french fries, and cheese sticks would take closer to 30 minutes. We were all starving so we waited. The chips and salsa were brought out immediately but to our dismay, the chips were soggy and stale. The salsa was the saving grace as it was delicious! Next the french fries and cheese sticks (which I didn't nosh on as I am vegan) were brought out and measured up to what is expected in a sports bar... greasy and without any frills. They certainly sustained our hunger but weren't anything to write home about.

All in all, this is a great spot to chill out with friends for some brew and to talk mad shit on opposing teams for those who are patient!

One of the staples in Tuscaloosa. The food is par for bar food, but it is a fun place with great drink specials. Between trivia night, poker night, the dart boards, and the pool tables, there is always something to do.  The wait staff is pretty great as well.

I only frequent Wilhagan's at lunch, but I must say I enjoy it very much. I have never had anything that I did not like. Also, the service is usually good (although, like any place, bad service happens and I have experienced that a time or two).

There's two great things about it during the day:
    1. It is never crowded
    2. It is quiet (but not too quiet)
This gives me a chance to relax a little bit. Overall, I am definitely a fan and suggest it!

A big sports bar.  Has several pool tables in the back.  Very consistent with good food.

Little Willies, Blues and Jazz is connected to it on the right.

The beer selection is good and they have pretty decent food, but the atmosphere isn't really to my liking. It is very spacious, and there's no smoking before 10 (always a good thing), but it just lacks character, in my opinion. Still, not a bad place for meeting up with friends or large groups. The patio is decent, if it isn't too hot. My biggest complaint about this place is the service. I've never felt like I got even acceptable service, much less good service. If they spent more of their efforts hiring capable servers instead of what some people might call eye candy, Wilhagan's would be a much better place to hang out.

Wilhagan's is good sports bar in downtown Ttown.  It has a decent beer selection and a little card called the "Passport to Beer" with 20 beers on it.  When you get all 20 punched, you get a T-shirt.  It's addictive.  They have specials during some football games like half-priced pints, $3 burgers at lunch, etc.  The menu is actually decent for a bar and has a couple of standout items like the prim rib sandwich, but the burgers are only so-so.  There's always sports on the giant TVs and there's 6 or 7 pool tables, if I remember correctly.  The really great thing is that if you and your friends feel like listening to some great live music on a Friday or Saturday night, there's a little martini bar right next door that brings in good blues and jazz.  It's owned by the same people and has a martini card like the beer card, but the reward is a day at a spa instead of a T-shirt
