In high school my freshman year I got made fun of for my hair. I was told it looked like a triangle... It took me a long time to grow it out and I measured the length of my hair in relation to how far down my hair went below my breasts... Not sure why, but maybe I was obsessed with both at that time. By the time I graduated high school I had some long hair that went to my waist...No, my breasts did not go that far silly!
I dragged around this hair all through college and loved it.... then I started cutting it shorter and it was cute, but it didn't make me feel like I was on a Salon Selectives commercial flipping my head all around after I stepped out of a salon.
In an effort to obtain this haircut curb appeal, I asked around for curly hair salon recommendations. Wildflowers was recommended to me by a fellow curly hair gal that has a cute short bob...Not sure what came over me, but I went in and saw Tenneya (totally wrong spelling here, but you get the sound). Tenneya also has curly hair, but it is long and she pulls it back.... so you can understand why I was nervous with her at first. It is like seeing an eyebrow artist who has messed up eyebrows, or only one eyebrow for that matter. How could I trust her?
Anyway, I let her dye and cut my hair and at first I was not sure I liked it.... I pulled it back and didn't want to look in the mirror. Then I took a shower and scrunched it up myself and styled as normal, and *BAMB* I felt like I could take on any Salon Selectives model any day. I get compliments galore and now of course.... now, I can say that I love Wildflowers... 'Cause I like my cut, I look buoyant, and I plan to go back.
* Star one for using earth friendly dyes and selling earth friendly products
** Our second star is for free parking
*** The third star is for the cheesy decorations that make you think that you are in a exotic love machine of a salon... where naked hot men are going to come out of the tanning beds and start signaling you to come join them
**** Our fourth star is for the good prices and friendly hairdresser and owner, Tenneya... She does not talk much, but she listens and she is patient
The fifth star was lost due to the decorations... It feels that everything is half done... I was just fantasizing about the naked man and tanning bed thing.

So, any brides-to-be out there, here's a recommendation for you: Have your hair done, by the person you think you'd like to do it, BEFORE the big day. I did, and boy, oh boy am I happy that I did! I took pictures into a salon (NOT Wildflowers) and asked the lady if she could put my hair up like the picture. Naturally, the answer was "Sure."
Oh but ladies, my hair looked absolutely nothing like the picture. You know the hairstyle EVERY prom girl wears? The one that looks like 4-5 toilet paper rolls piled on the crown of your uber-slicked back head? Yeah, that was the one she gave me. Besides, not being remotely like the picture, or being able to make facial expressions (due to the tension of my hair pulling my face back into a Joan Rivers facelift), and besides not liking the hairstyle to begin with, I didn't want to look like every 17 year-old Prom girl on my wedding day. No thank you.
I pondered who on earth I could possibly trust to do my hair for my wedding. It should be mentioned that I have quite long hair, and everyone recommended that I cut it in order to be able to put it in an updo. Seems to me millions of ladies had long hair back in the day that they all wore in updo's every day of their lives. So thanks for your input. Buh-bye.
I pondered this predicament out loud during my bachelorette party and my friend Kristen came up with the solution. Her hairdresser, Tinea, at Wildflower was a genius with long and curly hair. Kristen has awesome hair and a great cut, courtesy of Tinea, so seeing how I didn't have a better idea at this point I made the appointment for the big day and crossed my fingers.
I love Tinea. She did an incredible job. She tamed my long locks into a beautiful coiffure, very much like the picture I brought her, and infinitely better. It was snug and secure but comfortable without stretching my face back, and didn't knock loose or get fuzzy while getting dressed or dancing. I received tons of comments during and after the big day on how awesome it was, and some silly people thought that I actually had falls and hairpieces to create such a masterpiece.
I've added some pics of "the do" if you need some visible evidence to confirm my raving. Or you could decide I'm raving in a different manner. Meh.
