I walked into Wildfire expecting a typical "Applebee's" type set up. I had heard about it from a friend as a good place to eat, but no further details than that. When I walked in, I suddenly felt like I should have been wearing a full suit along with a fedora. The inside is beautiful, with its design reminiscent of what Hollywood would create as the backdrop for a gangster scene in a classic gangland flick. Even the signs that were spread out in the restaurant had a font that resembled something out of that era, with bold, thick letters and thin lines accentuating the edges.
The front has the bar and a casual seating area. The main area of the restaurant is divided into two sides, one with lots of smaller tables and another with a large, long table. Off to the sides I saw a couple rooms that looked like private dining rooms. It's a really impressive set up and I drank it in with my eyes as we were taken to our table.
As part of dinner, two types of bread were presented at the table. The first was an onion loaf and the other was a raisin bread. Both were wonderfully warm and tasty. I was not super hungry that night, so I ordered two appetizers and a side salad. The first appetizer was a dish of mussels with an herb butter sauce. The second was a horseradish crusted clam dish. Both were succulent and tasty. The herb butter sauce was really nice. It was warm with a great combination of herb flavor and butter, none overwhelming the other. The crust on the clams was really tasty but not bitter which some horseradish dishes can become. My side salad was spinach with bacon, nuts, shredded radishes with a wonderful warm mustard dressing.
Service was quick and efficient. The waitress seemed really matter of fact, with no chit chat or small talk. She was friendly enough, and the place was packed so my guess is that she was racing to get through her tables. She wasn't rude in any way however and our food came much faster than I expected.
I have to say that the portions were also much larger than I expected. I was thinking tiny appetizer sizes, but the mussel dish easily had a dozen pieces and the clam dish had about six.
For dessert, I chose the pumpkin pie. It was really good. Not the best I've ever had, but very tasty with a nice thick layer of cream and candied walnuts.
For the price, atmosphere and delicious food Wildfire is definitely worth a visit. I actually hope to go back the next time I'm in the Chicago area and take some pictures too!
The absolutely coolest thing about this place is that Illya Kuriyakin from that old 60's show was our waiter. I swear it is so!
I had two very excellent raspberry martinis. Then I had the parmesan encrusted steak, augratin potatoes and brocolli. Dead on
Then I had the pumpkin pie. Great
If you want a good meal and have a potential celeb wait on you. It's here!
I was totally caught by surprise at this place. I expected it to be good, but it totally blew my expectations out of the water.
I rate this place very high because the service of trying to set up a large party was amazing. So, it was my cousin's birthday and last minute as I was traveling up from Champaign back to Schaumburg we decided to invite a bunch of close friends to have dinner. I have heard of Wildfire before, but never really tried it. Now setting up a fairly large dinner last minute can be very hectic for both the organizer and the restaurant. Mind you this was on a Friday night too. So I made calls to friends to see who would go, and then I called Wildfire to tell them how many. At first I had 14 people go, then later 18, and then finally 21. I called Wildfire 4 times to change how many people would be going, and they were still very polite and nice. Very rare to get that nowadays. The manager was very accommodating and understood and it just was excellent service on their part.
Now actually serving 21 people on a Friday night can be very hard, but again the one poor waitress who had us was very nice, upbeat, and helpful.
The food was terrific. I ordered calamari for an appetizer and the petite Prime Rib. For the price, it completely blew me away. I was stuffed, the food tasted great, and the service was top notch. In addition, the setting was very classy and high-end with dark wood furnishings and yellow dim lighting to set the mood of fine dining.
I ate there again and ordered the lobster bisque and petite prime rib for lunch two weeks later. Again, the service was excellent.
What can i say.....
F'ing amazing
This is our ladies night out place to go. The food is awesome however the main reason why we go is Wildfire makes the BEST Martini's! I have never ordered a Martini anywhere else that has been equal to theirs.
Must say this place is one of my favorites !!!
Halibut is awesome, Service rocks , Frequent diner program kick but
its a must
Went to Wildfire on a Friday night. Ho hum. Food - Average. Service - Average. Price - OVERpriced.
1) Good - Valet available but can find parking towards the back of the lot.
2) If you have a big party, they'll only seat you if all of you have arrived.
3) Good - Bread offered as soon as you sit down.
4) Average service. Touch & go. Sometimes they refilled our drinks ASAP, sometimes, we had to flag down a waiter/waitress for drinks & condiments.
5) Average bland food. Overpriced. I thought I was going to be blown away but I tasted better at a cheaper price. I had the teriyaki chicken. Huge portion but bland. You can choose a side (very small portion) and that's pretty much all you get. No veggies. Dessert (cookie w/ vanilla ice cream) was huge and very rich!
Not exactly a "MUST GO". You can get better food somewhere else.
The food is so good here I wanted to come back again the next day! I went with a few people and I tried all their foods too. There was not one dish that I didn't like. I also like the fireplace in the restaurant cuz it gives it a nice home-like feel.
The French Onion soup and the steaks were good. I'm happy!
We met a friend for lunch and had a great experience.
Our party ordered a chicken Waldorf salad and two steak dinners (comprised of two filet tenderloins). The tenderloins came with our choices of crusts or sauces, so one ordered horseradish crust and Bearnaise sauce while the other opted for mushroom crust and blue cheese crust. In the meantime, we tasted the delicious, warm onion bread. Beside the annoying crumbs, this stuff is great!
The salad was very generous, such that our friend only ate half and took the rest home. The steaks came with one generous side (asparagus for one, wild rice for the other), but we lucked out: The waiter accidentally brought mashed potatoes, so we got to try those too.
The salad was reported as being very good. The mashed potatoes were amazing, so buttery and creamy and obviously indulgent. The wild rice was a little weird, stuffed with peas, carrots, and some other veggies... just not what was expected. The asparagus was simply steamed, but it was served with a touch of vinegar that I didn't really care for. (I was glad for the potato mistake because I abandoned the asparagus after a couple of tries.)
The steaks were perfectly cooked as ordered and so good. My only criticism in this area is that the Bearnaise was a bit on the thin side, so it dripped a little instead of sticking like a proper version. (The taste was right on, though.)
I also ordered a Door County cherry lemonade, which I highly recommend. It was pretty to look at--adorned with rock sugar, cherries, and lemon--and was such a delicious balance of tart and sweet. (Side note: Our waiter mistakenly brought me a lemonade with grenadine in it when I ordered "cherry lemonade" from the menu, but he realized his mistake part-way through the meal and brought one, apologized, and made up for it.)
We decided to split a dessert trio (key lime pie, Snickers ice cream pie, peanut butter cup) and have some coffee, and we were glad for it. While the ice cream pie got a lukewarm reception, the peanut butter cup was well-liked. The key lime pie was remarkable, so refreshing and balanced with a yummy graham cracker crust. The coffee was great.
Most importantly, the service was really good throughout our meal... friendly, informative, and not intrusive. Our primary waiter was clearly new and made a couple of mistakes, but he didn't get nervous or act weird, and no one pressured us when we decided to sit around talking for a long time.
Wildfire is worth the cost ($125 with tip for lunch, party of three) for the combination of service, quality food, and sleek decor.
Misty S says it perfectly "OVERPRICED! If you don't mind paying more for a meal that you can get for less, then you'll love this place. I mean it." Ahahaha Perfect
Chicago has some of the best steak restaurants I have been to so I was kind of surprised when this place got such high reviews from the good people in Chicago land.
Dont get me wrong, I had a good meal but it didnt taste that much better than some of the other chains that are at a fraction of the price.
Things the Wildfire does well:
Wine List - Cakebread Cabrent always goes well with a steak
Ambiance - I felt like I was in a fancy restaurant about to be served a delicious steak.
Bar - Beautiful wood bar with plenty of people having a good time. Although they are seriously lacking in their cognac and scotch department.
Things they need to fix
Steaks - If you are charging me $40+ for a steak then give me a great cut of meat. This is a steak restaurant for god sake.
Service - Not bad but could be better.
OVERPRICED! If you don't mind paying more for a meal that you can get for less, then you'll love this place. I mean it.
SERVICE: Was excellent! Our waitress was friendly and attentive. FYI, the host won't seat you until your entire party is present. A couple of people in our group arrived 10 minutes after our reservation time, but they were still able to seat us right away.
The starter bread was soft and full of flavor.
MARTINI: POTENT!! H-O-L-Y crap...I usually don't support alcohol abuse, but I had to leave some behind. My Sapphire martini ($11) was delicious, but very strong. I wish they would offer a smaller portion.
DINNER:
1. Chopped salad - This salad is HUGE and can easily feed 4. It was pretty tasty with roasted chicken, avocado, tomatoes, blue cheese, bacon, scallions, corn, tortilla strips tossed with citrus lime vinaigrette.
2. Blue Cheese Crusted Filet - I mean, it was a great piece of steak, but it wasn't $30 great.
DESSERT:
1. Ice Cream Sandwich - The "cookie" part of this dessert was hard and kinda gross. It comes with 3 pieces, so it can easily be shared. I wouldn't order this again.
2. Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie - YUM!! The peanut butter part of this dessert is warm, gooey and delish.
AMBIANCE: I love the decor and I really didn't notice the other people around us even though the restaurant was full.
PARKING: The lot was pretty full, but we were able to find parking at the very back.
As a shameless carnivore, I counted down the days until an office party led me to what I knew would lay ahead - dinner at Wildfire on somebody else's dime. Joy of joys!
I'm not a big fan of the whole Lettuce Entertain You chain. Even Big Bowl (see review below) and my beloved Pad Thai can only wrangle 3 stars from me, and that's on a good day. But gosh darn it, Wildfire knows steak. And once again, they did not disappoint.
Our affair was a family-style dinner, and I have to say - everything was perfect. No, really.
Starters were spinach-artichoke fondue and "jumbo" shrimp cocktail. Jumbo? They ain't never lied!! The shrimp were so big that I wondered briefly if Chernobyl had an ocean nearby. We're talking mutant-huge here.
I can't vouch for the Caesar salad because I was too busy shoveling the chopped salad into my head. Nom nom nom! A cornucopia of greens, avocado, chicken breast, bacon, blue cheese, tortilla strips, and a wonderful citrus-based dressing. Soooo yummy that I even forgave them for the corn in it. Corn? Really? Okay, whatever, not enough to detract from "perfect".
I might have overdone it at this point because when they started bringing out the entrees, my stomach was already sending "me full" signals to my brain. I plundered on, there was cow to be et, dammit!!
One small crit was that I could not order my filet mignon the medium rare that I typically enjoy. The family-style dinner was not cooked to order but rather a flat "medium" across the board. However, my filet was wonderfully undercooked in that regard and I ended up getting my medium rare after all. I'm sure that would have been a problem for anyone who does not enjoy medium rare, but in my case it was not.
Oh the delight of a Wildfire filet mignon. Words simply fail me. I've always said for years that I want my last meal on earth to be my dad's huevos rancheros. Sorry Pops, but you've been ousted, I'm going out in style!
Every. Bite. Gone. With even a helping of their cheddar double stuffed potatoes. Groan.
Dessert looked good. I had to pass on it, though. Maybe if I had had a hollow leg...
You know I should have been more impressed with this place, but I wasn't. Service was good, but for what you pay I want better food. The portions were ok, the taste was OK but I didn't have that wow feeling for paying $150 for three people.
As someone coming from an area with some of the freshest seafood out there, it's a bit unfair to judge a steak place on their fish, but I don't eat steak and chicken seemed boring.
Instead, I opted for the cedar plank salmon and was pleasantly surprised. The teriyaki sauce was a bit over bearing, but the salmon was well cooked. I have a feeling most people don't order it here though. The broccoli side was a bit odd. It was basically a head of broccoli on a plate with some butter melted down over the top. Not spectacular, and I have a feeling the mashed potatoes all of my co-workers ordered were much better.
Dessert options were great - homemade ice cream sandwich, banana creme pie and a fresh baked chocolate chip/pecan cookie with ice cream. Each portion would have been enough for the table to share, but we splurged - it was an expense account dinner afterall.
Overall, it's probably best to order steak and dessert here, but avoid the seafood. The chicken looked tasty as well and may be worth a shot.
BEST STEAKS EVER
Always have a pleasant time here. Meat is always wonderfully prepared. Mashed potatoes are always delicous.
Just go here :)
Business led me to Schaumburg and I found myself at Wildfire two nights in a row so my review is based on two rather than just one meal.
Wildfire is your typical steakhouse run for business travelers with a menu of "aged" steaks. The restaurant itself is very nice and lends itself to a good business meal. However, the reality is that the food is relatively mediocre. Sure, the steaks beat what you get at a random non-specialized restaurant but they weren't amazing.
Ribeye - I ordered mine rare and it was overcooked. Perhaps because of that, it resulted in meat that was too tough. It also contained too many tendons.
Honey Mustard Ribs - They tasted good but the meat wasn't exactly fall off your bone. Closer to ESPNZone than Texas or Atlanta perfect.
I also tried the stuffed shrimp and that was okay but again, nothing great. I will commend them for having a pretty nice wine list.
I had a good time but it's not the first place I'd go again if I were visiting town.
One of my all time favorite restaurants. I'm not a big meat eater but they have a variety of yummy fish dishes I enjoy, especially those scallops, which I enjoy almost every time with a huge gooey sweet potato! The warm molten chocolate cake is to die for when they have it (although they do tend to rotate their desserts). Great coffee to end the meal too.
To me this place is kid friendly if you have GOOD kids, which usually equals older, at least age 7 I'd say. My 8 year old son enjoys this restaurant very much, and they do have kid's meals. I tasted his ribs which were superb! This place is a very fast paced, crowded, loud, and mostly adult establishment so I could see kids getting bored here.
A word to the wise- make reservations! This place is ALWAYS jam packed at dinner time.
I went here for my mom's birthday last weekend and had a wonderful experience. We started with the chopped salad which is always amazing. We were going to order a larger for our party of four, but our waitress told us that a small would suffice. That is always a sign of a great waitress. For dinner I had a the braised beef short ribs special. WOW!!! So damn good. It came with their amazing mashed potatoes and these great roasted veggies for $20. What a bargain. The food was great and our waitress was wonderful. I have been to other Wildfire restaraunts and just didn't have the experience I had here. This one is the first one that has been worth going back to.
I love this place!
Drink of choice: Margarita! YUMMMMM!
I love the individual salad with thousand island.
For my meal: coconut shrimp with mashed potatoes.
Dessert: Key Lime Pie
Hubby gets the ribs or the peppercorn steak. Which lately "dies" over the perfect peppercorn steak.
Hubby used to love the lava cake. Still have many laughs from when we didn't see it a while back and the waiter said "It wasn't in season."
I guess chocolate is grown in between watermelons and strawberries!
Try Wildfire. You will enjoy it! If it worked for me... it can work for you!
This was my first time going to Wildfire and I will definitely go again!!!
It was busy and there was a wait so if you make a reservation they seat you in less than five minutes. Our waitress was fantastic...she knew the specials and when we placed our order she suggested wines to go with our food and was able to describe the taste of each wine suggested. The atmosphere was energetic and the dining room it self has a dark romantic feel to it even though i was there with friends it was still nice. The steak didn't need any sauce it was excellent and full of flavor. The desserts were awesome the creme brulee was not super sweet and that made it even more satisfying. I cant wait to go back!!!
Okay, admittedly I'm so far out of the loop because we're one of the last couples in the Chicago area to try Wildfire, not that we hadn't heard of it, we're just cheap so expensive dinners don't happen often.
What kind of restaurant did I think I was going to? I don't know, but I expected it all to be top-notch, top-shelf, superior... because that's what everyone tells me.
Walk in, 6:15, have 6:30 reservations and they seat us right away, all the way on the other side of the restaurant, but in a cozy spot. Good start. Water hits the table, server comes and discusses specials, takes drink order. Okay, we order, I order petite filet, well (oh, shut up! I order well done meat all the time, it is not wrong to order red meat... cooked!). Husband ordered Char Crusted Rib Eye, Medium Rare (because he's a canibal, that's the only reason to require so much blood in your meat... or you're a vampire! -ooh, maybe that would explain those bite marks on my neck....). Both of us ordered a salad...
Salads: Not sure about this hearts of palm thing... the salads were okay. Balsamic Vinigarette was great, according to husband. Thousand Island was that pink watery kind, it was kinda icky.
Steaks: Husband's Rib Eye, he loved, perfectly cooked, great taste... no complaints. Petite Filet... well, they told me that it would be buterflied because it was to be well, not sure what they mean because there was no essence of butterflying to my meat, but then again it was also served to me Medium... back to the kitchen, give it some fire... ta-da! Well done, and a good cut of meat. Yum-yum!
Desert: Husband ordered the key lime pie and I ordered the apple pie w/caramel and ice cream... key lime was not the best, but it's a steak place, not a pie place (an husband's affinity for blood may have skewed his tastebuds). Apple pie was great, but too much for one person! While we were eating desert we overheard our server telling another table that many deserts could be odered as half... would have been nice to have been told that too, I'd have ordered half.
So the service was really good, even if my meat wasn't fully-cooked the first time it hit our table. The food was good, aside from my salad being thoroughly unimpressive. I think Wildfire is a nice experience for the price, but thought that the ambiance would be more than it was.
Oh, one last thing, and maybe this isn't something others review, but it's a big deal to me... restrooms! There is only one set of them, on one side of the restaurant and no easy way to get there from our seats, unless we wanted to use the kitchen run for the servers. Then the bathrooms were kinda weird, with an odd/funky trough sink and kind of unkept appearance. Not repulsive, but kind of icky... I don't know... it was a bit of an issue for me though.
All in all a decent experience, we will likely go back with a group, and I'll just not use the restroom.
Great food. I ordered the halibut. Big portion of fish and side!
Nice atmosphere. Part of the "Lettuce Entertain You" company. They always have consistent quality food and service.
Will be back, if back in the Schaum anytime soon.
D.E.L.I.C.I.O.U.S. Everything is awesome, (drinks too). Enough said.
I've been here numerous times, and each time was an enjoyable time. I can tell you that the food is top notch and worth every dollar you spend- and just like one of my other favorites (Sabatino's, Chicago) it comes with a price. :)
Not only is the food good, but the service, and atmosphere is excellent. There is something about it that feels classy and almost like this restaurant is being run in the 1950s but with a modern feel.
I definitely recommend the Horseradish Encrusted Filet Mignon! :)
Good food, but expensive. attentive waitstaff. Good drinks. Good date restaurant
my sis took me here for my birthday and we had a great time. our waitress was very helpful with making suggestions on what she thought we'd enjoy.. to start, we had a couple of drinks. i had a sangria martini that was a bit too sweet for my taste, but i tried my sister's pomegranate martini and it was great. and i LOVE their bread. as for the entree; it was a summer day and i was in the mood for something fun, so i had the baby back ribs w/ fries. let me just say, these are some of the best ribs i've ever had, next to my dad's who has run several BBQ joints. these ribs were fall off the bone tender and glazed with a mouth watering honey bar-b-que sauce that had a little bit of a kick. the fries were good. crispy and well seasoned. we sat and talked for a while and enjoyed catching up with each other and the waitress was good about not bothering us, even though it was close to closing. she finally came around to clear off the table and i let her know that we were interested in dessert. she brought over the dessert tray which was filled with goodies. it was hard to choose. my sister actually wanted to get a closer look at some of the dessert statues(?) so she picked one up and was showing to me. the waitress who had previously been so nice, quickly snatched the dessert from my sister and put it back on the tray (can you say feisty?) and continued to explain the desserts to us like nothing ever happened. i don't know what that was about, but it was hilarious. we finally decided on a chocolate chip cookie filled with chocolate sauce and topped with a home made buttery ice cream.. party in my mouth? i'd say so.
I've been wanting to come to Wildfire since moving here. The beau had been here numerous times for business dinners, and never felt compelled to return, in spite of my chiding until .... our friend's birthday.
What a letdown. Maybe it's all the high expectation.
Don't get me wrong, the mini medallions, breads, sides and especially keylime pie were great. But I could also get the same quality steaks and food at considerably lower cost elsewhere.
The restaurant crams too many tables too closely. The stadium booth seating is disconcerting. I find myself talking so loudly that I worry if our conversations could be heard the next tables over.
I won't be going back anytime soon.
I love this place; not too upscale and not too casual. The room always has energy. The service has lasted the test of time, I've eaten there so many times. Above all, their Horse Radish Encrusted steaks are to die for. I dream about them.
If you have the option and your party isn't too big, request a booth. It's much more enjoyable.
This place gets real busy on the weekends.
My first, but not the last time to visit this establishment... as soon as we drove up, we knew we were in for trouble! The parking lot was plugged on a Tuesday night, so we valeted it, then waited to be seated. As I walked past the reception area and into the dining area, the kitchen immediately caught my eye ~ FIRE! The place is beautiful, the setting is romantic/fun, and the service is impecible to say the least!
The bread, appetizers, dinners, desserts, I could go on... I just really liked being there and great company made the evening a very memorable one.
Thanks, Shaumburg, a new Chicago 'burb favorite!
Full Disclosure: I worked at this location when it first opened for just over a year. And I still enjoy dining there even as I recognize less and less people. It's Lettuce Entertain You in all its glory - open kitchen, fun, big, etc.
Describing the dessert tray was always my favorite part. Something for everyone: snickers ice cream sandwich, key lime pie, sorbet, and many more. (The sorbet goes on and off the menu.) I like the different crusts you can get on your steak. The filet trio is not the best bang for your buck, but it allows you to try 3 different crusts on a good cut of meat.
Is this the best-ever-steakhouse-of-all-time? No. But it's a great place to go with a group of friends or on a date. When making your reservation, tell them you're celebrating a birthday or anniversary and you'll get a complimentary mini chocolate flourless cake with a small scoop of ice cream.
Outdoor seating in the summer, but it's next to the parking lot. I don't recommend it.
We ate here Saturday night before seeing Dave Attell at The Improv. This was a great dining experience. The service was friendly and uber-professional, the ambience and spacious dining area made the whole experience such a pleasure. Deb had the Filet Mignon Wellington; I had the Filet crusted horseradish.
We were amused to the see the same service cues from our waiter that we have seen at other Lettuce Entertain You restaurants. They really have the quality service thing nailed.
We were seated a tad close to one of the entrances to the kitchen, that is the only thing we could complain about. However it probably facilitated more frequent visits to our table by our waiter so no harm.
Wildfire is a great. They really know how to make a steak perfect. My hubby and I have learned our lesson with the wait for a table, so we tend to get in there for an early dinner (around 4:30, no wait at all, perfect). Otherwise, make reservations or prepare to wait for a good hour before you get seated.
I've figured out that my favorite dish is the Filet Mignon Wellington. It's a special and only served on Saturdays. But man oh man, it's so good. My husband loves their Macademia Encrusted Halibut. They have a HUGE cheddar twice baked potatoe which is a meal on it's own.
I have no preference in location. I've been to this one and the one in Lincolnshire and had the same experiences. We haven't had problems with the staff, I find them to be great waiters and waitresses and pretty professional. I love how they stuff you up full of fresh baked bread so when your food comes you aren't hungry anymore. I really need to learn better self control.
I'm just so used to going to the Chicago location of Wildfire that it was almost an oddity... like stepping into a parallel universe when our party walked into Wildfire-Schaumburg. The decor is just as beautiful and not nearly as bustling as it's sister location, but the food is just as good.
We started off with the combo complimentary bread tray with a petite loaf of rye raisin-nut bread and what I believe to be an onion and garlic sweet bread. Both are equally delish.
I actually tried the Filet Medallion Trio, per the recommendation of our Wildfire-Chicago server from the other night. The entree comes with three 3-oz. filet medallions with a choice of three different crusts (there are about 6 crusts to choose from) and a side of red skin mashed potatoes. I selected the horseradish, blue cheese and bernaise toppings. The medallions were so fragrant and succulent... were cooked to my satisfaction (medium rare) and almost too big of a portion to finish eating in one sitting, but I managed... of course I had to skip dessert or I would have probably exploded.
Service was good.
Came here for lunch with my mom + her friends and a couple of people my age. Started off with the bread + butter. The bread was decent, but the butter (?) was really delicious, and the waitress brought out a 2nd loaf because everyone else liked it so much. I'm not sure exactly what I was spreading on the bread, but it definitely something better than butter.
Onto the salad. A large salad was mixed for our table by the waitress, and it was fresh and pretty good. A few dressings were brought to the table, and no one had any complaints.
I went all out with the filet mignon. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't mind-blowing - it was good. Also the outside seemed to be a little crisper than I wanted as well, but not so bad that I'd send it back. Also I forgot to order a topping (my friend got peppercorn, and that looked pretty good)..I wish the waitress had asked me what kind of topping I'd want. Overall, not bad for a $20 filet.
As a note, my mom and her friends are vegetarian, and they definitely had some options. I think they shared between a portobello mushroom sandwich, some sort of pasta, and the salad, all of which they were satisfied with.
I think the service had some good and bad. The waitress forgot my mom's side order of mashed potatoes, and we asked her if it was coming...The waitress said she could put in another order, as if we didn't order it in the first place. It's nothing to go ape shit over, but she did miss the order.
Overall, decent dining experience, but not going to go out of my way to come back.
We had a group of 15 (4 children and 11 adults) on the Saturday before Mothers Day and the place was pretty packed. Lots of people, we didn't have to wait too long once our whole party arrived. We were placed in a backroom with other large parties and had 2 of the staff attending to us. They were pretty attentive and moved things along pretty well.
We ordered some appetizers (wood smoked crab cakes, portabello mushrooms, a goat cheese and mix greens salad and some goat cheese dish that I forgot the name of) that were very good. The goat cheese salad was very good, I was surprised at how flavorful the salad was with the peppers and zucchini and mixed greens were. The crab cakes were pretty good and the portabello mushrooms with spinach were very strong, my wife didn't like them but I thought they were tasty. For my dinner I ordered the lamb porterhouse chops with broccoli. I should have ordered the mashed potatoes instead of the broccoli, but the lamb chops were OK, on the small side, but you can't expect huge chops from a lamb. The lamb chops were kind of tough but I think that's because of the small cut and the lamb meat itself.
Overall, I think you'd probably get a better experience during the week when the cooks aren't rushed to get so many food plates out on a busy weekend. I'd probably give this place another chance and try the fish. My mother had the salmon and my brother in law had the macadamia encrusted halibut which he said was pretty awesome.
Always solid food when I've been here for work. The filet's are my standard and they're pretty juicy. One plus is on Passover (Jewish holiday.... Jesus' last supper was a Passover Sedar, so there's your bit of trivial pursuit for the day) they offer matza since Jewish people cannot eat bread.
BTW their ribs are tasty too, so is the Macadamia crusted fish.
Love the food, everything we've tried is good. Atmosphere is nice. Can this really be a Lettuce Entertain You restaurant?!?
We have only been to this location for lunch but, we've never had to wait for a table. Servers are pleasant but, occasionally the food is on the slow side which is why they are only getting 4 stars.
I do like this location better than the one in the city. Try the scallops in lemon butter sauce, they are really good. Also the wild rice is really good as well. My friends seem to like the medallions a lot.
We actually sat outside on Sat, we didn't have reservations on a Sat night and only had to wait 45 min for an outdoor table.
Food is sooo yummy here! Came here not too long ago for someone's birthday party with about 10 guests total. We got a little private party room....I'm not sure if it costs extra or anything though.
The party room was really great since there were a couple of little kids here (not mine thank goodness...haha), and it's always nice to not bother/annoy other people in the restaurant, plus the parents got to eat and keep an eye on them. :) So everything turned out great. Food was fantastic, servers were super and so was the coffee. :)
