Went to ride the slides today and rode the ones I could since you have to be 44 inches tall for the big slides and my daughter is only 40 boo!
So the safari river was cool, I think I floated and walked it like 10 times that was my daughters favorite for swimming.
They have a small version of the water slide with the mats and that was pretty fun, I can only imagine how the big one was.
The wave pool was super cool, think I almost drowned a couple of times cause the waves were throwing me around like a pebble in the water. Also people on the rafts knock into you, but jumping waves is always cool.
The slides are old school cause its squishy when you walk on them which is kinda weird at first but I guess safe for the younger ones. Pretty good food, it is pricey but when you are hungry it doesn't even matter. Do not forget the sun block, my skin is extra crispy from not reapplying it.
Will go back next year cause it was not even crowded at all.
First off, I want to say that I'm not a HUGE fan of water parks. Wild Rivers is the only one for miles in Orange County. Granted, we have the beach at most 40 minutes away, water parks offer slides and other attractions that the beach does not.
I arrived at the park at four. Great price after four. But it's a little cooler in the afternoon (obviously) so beware. The rides are all great, some better than others. The more intense slides are truly intense, and you can get going pretty fast.
The water seemed clean. And didn't reek too much like chlorine. I mean it is a water park. It's not the cleanest water. But probably cleaner than the ocean.
The tube rides are by far the most popular, for good reason. River Rapids is a favorite, and is still great time after time. The Patriot, the obviously boasting slide right at the front, is by far the busiest, but in my opinion, skip-able.
The food is over priced, and so are the drinks. But it's a theme park. Definitely not as bad as like Disneyland, but still steep.
There were plenty of spots open when I arrived and minimal waiting on rides.
The environment is very kid-friendly, and the fact that it's a smoke-free park, is definitely a plus in the family oriented demographic.
There are lockers for a reasonable price, and I would definitely suggest using the lockers. A friend's bag was stolen, although no actual VALUABLES were in it, it's still a frustrating experience. When we arrived at the Lost and Found there was quite a line, which suggests that this is not an irregular thing.
The lifeguards are all really friendly and mostly young. (Not to mention fun to look at. =P)
Overall, it's a fun place. I would try going past four, unless you plan on arriving early. Check your things in a locker, and have some fun.
If you want to ride water rides, chill in the lazy river, or get knocked around by 6 foot waves...This is your place.
I don't like other water parks, because of the crowds and long lines. You can get through this place and ride everything in one day.
They have small kiddie slides and water play area for the small guys! Even old folk have fun here. We have been several times this summer and had a blast.
So I don't know whether I still like water parks, but if I do, Wild Rivers is one of my favorites. It's not quite as big as Raging Waters, which means it's not quite as crowded either. And because it doesn't have the scariest slides, it tends not to attract as many teenagers, or at least it didn't when I was a teenager.
But the reason I'm giving it four stars is that its slow river thing is really fun and relaxing.
Wild Rivers is pretty fun! It's not as crowded as Soak City BUT it can be good cause the lines aren't as long. The food in there is hellla expensive though...Some of the rides hurt..OH be sure to apply & re-apply sunscreen cause i got a sunburn ): There arent THAT much rides, so you can prolly finish all the rides by the end of the day. The best time of the day to come is 6-8 pm. LOL cause everybody leaves and you dont really need to wait much. Overall, pretttty good :D
This park is fucking old as shit. Styrofoam goop on most of the rides are sticking out and the Bazooka Bowls Fuck your back up like if you were a slave back in the 1800's. It literally feels like your getting whipped by the cracks on the bowl every time you go over them. As a matter of fact, if your in the waiting line above, you can here the whipping the stupid bowl gives you. The only thing that made me give this park a 4 star rating, were all the stupid girls who lost their tops and were walking around not realising there boobs were sticking out.
Silly....
Another thing i disliked was that their biggest ride was closed down, and some other stupid ride that resembled a mountain or something would leave you stuck halfway down. Other then that, the rest of the rides were decent. Also, not too packed as everyone probably flocked to the the newer water parks in So Cal. Still, Id rather they keep this park open, then Irvine build a bunch of duechebag town homes...
Also, if you have kids that weigh 2 pounds, please don't let them get on the downhill racing ride. Every time I got on that ride, there were always stupid kids stuck halfway down because
A. they're idiots
and
B. my dumps weigh more then them.
I just love water parks. I came here last year after a 15-year water park drought and found a large crowd of youngin's and teenagers. Typical. I mean don't you guys have the high school exit exam to study for?
My last ride of the day was the Bazooka Bowls. You start off on a winding slide that is approx. 4 stories above a large bowl at the bottom. The slide shoots you out into the bowl like a cannon ball. When you finally hit the large bowl, there's a donut hole in the middle, where you and the kids get dropped off about 3 feet into the pool.
I eagerly jumped onto the ride. The slide spat me out into the bowl, I circled around a few times and went into the pool, head first. Ouch, right? But that wasn't my main concern, for the force of the water had managed to strip off my bikini top. I didn't know I had signed up for a peep show.
a friend of mine peed his shorts while we were waiting in line for the bazooka blasters.
water parks are cool. i always feel gross and dirty afterwards. entrance is overpriced (as well as food once you're inside) but you can't help but enjoy yourself while you're there.
the only things holding me back from giving them 5 stars is the fact that the only attractive females were definite jailbait, and the fact that i KNOW there's pee everywhere. but whatever, i quess i'm down to get gross and dirty to have a good time, then take a 30 minute shower afterwards, haha.
Yeah, it was pretty fun when you were thirteen. But the more you get older the more you realize that wave pools suck unless you and the girls around you are twelve and bazooka blasters doesn't give you the same thrill it used to.
I love this place. I've been coming here on and off since I was 12 thats over 15 years ago. well now i only come here like once every other year for just a few hours. The Irvine compnay wants to shut this place down to build some homes... Like there isn't enough in Irvine. Anyway thats a totally different subject. There are many great rides here like surf hill, bazooka bowls, bombay blasters, congo river rapids, wipeout, and many more.
Considering that this is pretty much the only water park in OC you really can't go wrong. There is raging waters, but it is much more crowded and you can definitely tell the water is much more dirty there. It is really close to the Irvine Spectrum so you can grab a bite off location. Although they actually have some good overpriced food.
If you go after 4 I think its only like 15 bucks or so. So if your an adult and just want to go and avoid all the kids I'd go at that time. They got till next year so try to go b/c who knows when/where they'll reopen after it closes!
Looking back, you can obviously tell that it's not the greatest water park out there. But when you were younger, it was always something to look forward to. There was plenty to find to do, and a lot of times you could find a quick ride to go on so you wouldn't have to wait long in lines. One of the greatest things though was playing in the kiddie area when you're obviously way too big or way too old to be there. And laying back, just floating along in the river was always nice and relaxing. Not too mention that you always had fun fighting over to see who would get the first inner-tube. Too bad all the food was way too expensive. But remember the drink that came in the pineapple? Totally the reason I give this a 3 instead of a 2.
Against my better judgment I allowed my daughter to join in the end of the school year party here. Water parks just seem so dirty to me. But I figured it is one of the first days they are open for the season (it will be cleaner), public school is still in session (less people to pee) and my Mommy friends would be there.
I was right!
We arrived when the park opened at 11 a.m., the sun was out and there were plenty of chairs to sit in. I can see that this could be a problem on super crowded days. I knew the food would be worse than a carnival so we snuck in our own food and drink. Some of the workers saw us and didn't seem to mind. The water seemed clean and I even saw guys walking around testing the water every hour or so.
Tips....
*Bring major sunscreen, hats, glasses. The cement is white and throws off a wicked glare.
*Bring your own food. Buy dessert there!
*Have your kid wear aqua sox. The cement is rough and it just ground up my kid's feet.
*Get there early to get a chair!
*Don't let little ones or fragile ones on the Bazooka Bowl. EVERY KID got hurt on it!
My one complaint was that the park was supposed to close at 4 p.m. At 3:10 they started shutting down rides and shooing people away. That was bad.
Went there on a Saturday. It was OK. I guess I should be happy since couple of weeks have gone by and I am not sick (this is more than I can tell about raging waters, where I caught all sorts of skin diseases after my visit!). It was a bit crowded, and way too many people in the lazy river, some of the lines were too long. But overall it was not too bad.
wild rivers rocks. it is great for both young and old. it is great on warm days and is reasonably priced. the kids love the place
