When the owner of your favorite restaurant suggests another restaurant to you, you listen. I did, and am very glad that I did.
This was some of the best Thai food I have ever had, perhaps my favorite tom kha gai (Coconut soup, with chicken) of anywhere I have been. I will return just for this.
We ordered our own dishes, but ate family style, sharing everything. My dish was the massaman curry with chicken and I would have been more than content to eat only that, but I was brought up to share...though, begrudgingly. We had some other curries, Pad Thai, etc. All were top notch.
Service wise, we never were left wanting for anything.
Wild Ginger is worth your time and money, as one of the best or the best Thai in the Denver area.
This place has a very nice interior, few booths where its possible to eat on the floor on cushions, wooden tables have no table cloths, which showcases the natural color of the wood, overall it's a clean restaurant, the most important to me when it comes to an Asian restaurant is the smell you leave with, and here you leave with no smell; regardless of the décor, I was accompanied by great friends, so, really no matter where and how this place looked, I was in good shape!
-- Appetizers
Mussels: plain bland steamed mussels served on broken shells, sauce of something like Italian dressing came on the side.
Siu Mai: this probably came from a frozen box (Ajinomoto brand).
Papaya salad: not bad, but missing some acid.
Tom Kha Gai: strong flavors of coconut milk and chicken, missing coriander, but no taste of kha...
Tom Yum Goong: missing shrimp brain aroma in the broth and missing acid.
-- Entrees
Panaang curry: too much coconut milk, missing Kaffir leaves taste.
Pad thai: good, well balanced flavors.
Cat fish curry: not bad, a tad dry.
Fried Rice: overcooked rice, too much fish sauce.
Pineapple curry: good, nice chunks of firm tofu, very complementing to the texture experience.
Massaman Curry: missing cardamom and a hint of cinnamon.
Overall, all curries had too much coconut milk and palm sugar.
-- Dessert
Fried bananas: this was good, nice mixture of flours making it light, crispy, and not drenched in oil.
Service was super polite, quite attentive but no smile.
Food is very Americanized, far from authentic, too much coconut milk, too sweet, missing flavors that aren't commonly used in American culinary, like Kaffir leaves, kha, cinnamon (in savory dishes).
I had the pleasure of dining here with a couple of my favorite yelpers and the owners of Pho 95 (cutest couple ever). We ordered a variety of appetizers, soups and main courses and it was a perfect round table experience.
We shared a bottle of Chilean Malbec which was surprisingly delish.
The restaurant is cleanly decorated and spacious - the bar is large enough to hang with a few friends and watch the game on Monday night (Go Bronco's), or to dine solo and not feel like a loser.
The food is very good. The medium was spicy enough, but I thought it would have a little more kick. I loved the dumplings and the soup - the mussels did not meet the bar, which has been elevated by so many fantastic restaurants in the area. Apparently mussles are the new sushi.
I also tried the pineapple curry which was the best thing I've put in my mouth since ...yesterday.
They have a variety of curries, so try them all. I also had the Thai fried rice with tofu and I was very pleased. The catfish skewer was also very tasty and somewhat of a surprise.
The experience overall was a definite high point of my week. The service was genuine and good, although not super smiley...and we know how I like smiley.
Oh Wild Ginger, how I've missed you so. Oh how you remind me of what Tommy's used to be yet keep your consistency and amazing food quality up.
Wild Ginger is a very good thai restaurant that I needed a friend and fellow yelper Moni L. To help me re-realize how good it was. After yelping my own gripes about Tommy's it may come as a surprise to you that I'm giving their sister restaurant a full 5 stars but I will state why.
As you all may no, siblings might be more attractive than the other, this is completely the case here. Wild Ginger has a more inviting feel and it's in the little things that the differences between the two stand out the most. The atmosphere is a LOT more cozy at Wild Ginger. The hosts and servers all wear more traditional looking clothing and don't have a headset in like they are managing a McDonald's (sorry girl from Tommy's you've been busted). I say more traditional looking because I'm not Thai, I can't make the call on if they are wearing traditional garments or not. I digress, onto what is important.
The food is phenominal. I've never really been disappointed here and tried food all over the menu, for you those that like it hot, make sure to get yours Thai hot, you can either curse me or thank me later. I would say that when you visit, give everything a try once... especially the dessert. If you happen to visit when mangoes are ripe and in season, get the mangoes with sticky rice, superb!
went with a group of friends for a casual birthday celebration and really enjoyed it. I had been to Wild Ginger a couple times before, but it had been a while. I was so happy that we went! Service was good and the food was fantastic! I had the chicken pineapple curry and was in heaven...one of the best I've had around town. We also had the coconut ice cream, which blew us away! I will never go there again without getting that ice cream! I want to try other things on the menu, but have a feeling I will continue with the pineapple curry...it's just to good to pass!
Really great food
For those in Denver, Wild Ginger is a bit out of the way - but it is always worth the trek. I can't speak to the authenticity of the Thai food, but everything I've had has been absolutely delicious.
The atmosphere is great, it's comfortable and pleasant, and the service is prompt and helpful. I would definitely err on the side of caution when it comes to ordering spicy dishes. I only made the mistake of ordering my favorite plate "hot" once, and my lips were still burning hours after the meal ended.
The menu is full of vegetarian and vegan options as well as carnivore delights. I've brought many friends here, even those who typically aren't too adventurous when it comes to dining, and it's received rave reviews all around.
I have been here several times, the food is absolutely delicious. The curries are always good, I usually get the thai spicy pork or beef. The server asked if I was sure because it is very spicy. Boy, was she not kidding! I love spicy foods and this was amazing. If you love spicy foods, you've got to try wild ginger. The coconut ice cream is also pretty good too.
Best Thai in Denver. My friend lived in Thailand for years and swears by this place. One of my more memorable meals with with him where he ordered everything Thai Hot in Thai. My mouth is still recovering, so only order Thai Hot if you really want to suffer. Otherwise, the food is fantastic.
I am wild about Wild Ginger.
First - their crab cheese wontons are the best I've ever had, hands down. They're thin, light, and crispy, and come with a divine yet simple dipping sauce. They are a perfect appetizer.
The food is great. The spiciness varies - some days a medium pad thai is manageable, other days I'm sweating bullets. But it's always very good.
Thai is the sort of cuisine that's great when it's good, okay when it's not. Wild Ginger is good.
If you've ever lived in Long Beach (California), than you are no stranger to Thai food. You wouldn't have to go far to find a Thai restaurant. Being a lover of many forms of Asian cuisine, I have ate a a number of Thai restaurants. Well when the time came to finding one and a good one at that, I needed to spend some time reading reviews. Although the places with a larger review count and decent average rating looked appealing, I had to take into account all the low rating reviews and that's what I decided to try Wild Ginger. I trust the names I see writing these reviews.
We got there a little after 11am and so the parking lot was empty and when we walked in there were already 3 other couples seated and in the beginning stages of ordering. So we weren't too early it seemed. The waitress was prompt in asking for our drink orders and they didn't rush us to place our order, which I liked. Too many places in too much of a hurry these days. So far I haven't experienced that in Denver... oh wait... there was one place, but that is still four reviews away.
It didn't take long at all for the place to fill up. I would have to say that within 15 minutes or less, of us being in there. All seats were pretty much taken and this was on a Friday morning. That in and of itself tells you that this place is good. A place doesn't fill up that quickly if it wasn't.
The menu had a lot of familiar items and some not so. We started off with Chicken Satay and Crab Wantons. The woman that took our order had a very strong accent and she had to repeat the order a few times. She in the end ended up mistaking Crab Wantons with Chicken Dumplings. Not too much a big deal as we were both hungry and love Thai. Before that came they served us a small bowl of soup, which I believe was an egg drop soup. A nice little surprise. The dumplings came with two dipping sauces, both separate and together really didn't add much, so I ended up not using them. They were a little doughy, but tasted good. The chicken satay was great. Their peanut sauce was like liquid peanut butter. Very good.
Next came the Chicken Pad Thai and Gai Yang. I had read about the spicy scale and completely forgot to mention it to my girlfriend. She ordered in Medium and it turned out to be a a little too hot for her, but it was just too good not to keep eating. One of the better pad thai's that I've ever eaten. Will order it again, but Mild next time around. The Gai Yang (Charbroiled/BBQed Chicken) came with on bed of veggies, white rice and a dipping sauce. I left the veggies alone (as I so often do.) and went right for the chicken. It didn't say in on the menu, but the taste was so familiar to me that it brought back great memories. The chicken had a tea-smoked taste to it. I've encountered it a few places with duck done in a similar fashion. The best of course I wrote about here: http://www.yelp.com/bi...
That is what I was hoping for here. Duck. Sadly I did not find any on the menu. That will be my next search in the Denver area. Continuing with the chicken, it had a nice crispy skin and very flavorful. A hit in my opinion.
I must say that I had a really good experience here. Even with that small mistake, the wait staff was very attentive and in a good way and the food was good enough to keep me coming back. We both had a great meal and it all came to under $30. Not bad at all.
Easily a 5 star.
My husband took me here as he heard it was the best Thai in the area. We recently moved here from CA and I've been disappointed with the Thai food I've had. This place was wonderful. Definitely on par with some of the amazing Thai I have had in CA. I would recommend it as the best Thai in the Denver area. It's affordable too.
If you are vegetarian or vegan, there are lots of options on the menu too. Try the Thai iced coffee - yum!
Also the alcohol was reasonably priced. They had many choices for glasses of wine between $4.50 - $6.00.
Always great Thai food and good service ! Our favorite Thai restaurant in the area!

This restaurant was favorably reviewed on Yelp so I was happy to try the place out when invited by a friend. I have had some experience disagreeing with the reviews in the Littleton area in the past, so I went to the restaurant with cautious optimist. I'm happy to say that the restaurant lived up to the high ratings.
The restaurant is fairly easy to find on Littleton Boulevard and has plenty of parking in the lot outside the building. The decor is decent and the wait staff was diligent and not over friendly.
We ordered a panang curry with veggies and chicken as well as a lemongrass/chicken/vegetable dish. The food was very flavorful and had the interesting layering of spices and textures that I so enjoy about Thai food. I ordered the curry "hot" and was pleased to find that it was indeed spicy. I also ordered some Sake which was an interesting if slightly peculiar find on a Thai restaurant menu, but complemented the food rather well.
We went on a Monday night so the restaurant was only about half full. This was welcomed as we ended up staying a long time after our food had been finished and there was no pressure for us to leave sooner. Overall I think this is a good Thai restaurant and one I would recommend to others.
One time only. I would not give Wild Ginger a second try. I ordered simple Pad Thai with chicken. I received, bland undercooked noodles and CHICKEN FAT pieces.Disgusting. Service was slow, polite, but extremely slow (even on a slow night). Beautiful atmosphere ruined by substandard cooking. Would not recommend this place to anyone.
thai food is a recent thing for me, as in when my friend and i met there for lunch she said, "oh, i forgot you don't eat anything they serve here." however, to her surprise, college has broadened my horizons, so EVEN THOUGH my drunken noodles came with sprouts in it, i still ate it. and it's a small victory, but i'm proud of myself.
i used to come here in high school and just order the coconut icecream, which is ballin' (to use my hip lingo) and always satisfied me, whereas a simple, seemingly safe chicken noodle soup came with every kind of vegetable EVER and tofu. i was horrified.
now, a few years later and not as terrified of tofu or sprouts, i LOVE their drunken noodles. this was my first experience with drunken noodles, and it won't be my last, as it was amazing.
not a fan of the soup, but the ambiance is kick ass, and everything on their dessert menu makes me drool like nobody's business.
Cheap lunch options. Downside is they are closed on Sunday.
This was the first good ethnic restaurant in Littleton, which is now thankfully NEARLY lousy with them.
It used to be called Orchid, and Orchid smelled like an armpit, then the new owners took over and it has been perfection ever since.
The decor is awesome, and the ability to sit on the floor is a NICE touch for a date, it's very intimate to take your shoes off on the first date. Assuming that you dont have bunions or some sort of foot fetish that makes it impossible to concentrate on the amazing food.
The service is fantastic, the prices are reasonable, and the portion size is decent if not generous. There is plenty of parking, and plus its in Littleton, which means your car is safe in the lot.
Sorry for being a party pooper, but I was disappointed with Wild Ginger. I love Thai, and my #1 fave restaurant ever is Bangkok Restaurant back home in Columbus, Ohio. I can't help but compare every Thai meal to the delectable feasts I experienced there. Tom Yum Gai is to me what pho is to a lot of people - the ultimate cure for hangovers, colds, and pissed offed-ness with the world in general. At $8.50ish, WGT's is ridiculously overpriced. The broth is bland, with only a hint at the taste explosion that should be good Tom Yum Gai. What's the deal with the ridiculously small, luke-warm portion, with a few sliced button mushrooms, raw onions and insipid tomatoes? And four shrimp? Really?? Where were the kaffir lime leaves, the sliced galangal, the birds eye chillis, the straw mushrooms, and the strips of lemon grass? Really disappointing. We shared a Pad See-Ew ($9) which was quite tasty, but, again, the portion was tiny. There was about five pieces of dry bland chicken in it, and the noodles were skimpy.
Service was overly attentive - we asked for the check, but were then asked by no less than three patrolling servers if we wanted to order anything else. I also disliked the fact they load your soda glass 2/3 full with ice, but then charge for more than two re-fills.
We were in and out in less than 30 minutes. Underwhelming.
Tasty Thai: A look at Wild Ginger Thai Restaurant
I love Thai food; some would say that I was definitely born in the wrong country. When I was younger my grandfather always asked where I came from because my diet consisted of Chinese, Thai, and Japanese food. Well at least the Americanized versions of it. So when I discovered Wild Ginger Thai Restaurant in Littleton I was in heaven. I have been frequenting this tasty joint for years. They even do takeout for those times you are feeling super cheap and do not want to leave that tip for great quality service, which is what you get at Wild Ginger. Not a cup goes empty, or an order is wrong, the service here is spot on and generally friendly when the servers do actually speak. From the Crab Wontons ($4.25), to the Pad Kea Mow (Drunken Noodles $8.25) and Pad Thai ($8.25), to the curries you can't go wrong. I may be biased but I have tried so many Pad Thai dishes around town and not one has come close to getting it right except Wild Ginger. Their Pad Thai has the right amount of kick to tickle your taste buds with heat and a little bit of sweetness to offset the heat. This dish is a must try every time I go there this usually wins over everything else on the menu. The Crab Wontons are crisp and delicate with just enough crab and cream cheese flavor and a little green onion thrown in to jazz it up. The drunken noodles not my favorite because of the overpowering basil flavor but still mouth-watering if you are an extreme basil lover. The Rice Soup ($2.75) is good but a little bland; add a little salt and pepper taste and you're golden. If you're ready for some knockout Thai food head to Littleton and you will be in for a flavorful experience.
Still my favorite Thai place near Denver. The best Yellow Curry (and one of the only places you can find it) in the state. Great Crab Cheese Wontons, Royal Chicken, and Pad Thai as well. Service is friendly and food usually comes out very quick. The prices are also very affordable, and they have even better lunch prices!
Right down the street from Littleton High School, this is a solid Thai restaurant. The pad thai is good for $6.25 and the restaurant is decorated nicely. There is also a full bar if you're looking to get your drink on.
This is the best Thai food I've had in 11 years in the Denver area, and the prices are amazing. The only bummer is that it's not across the street from our house.
I don't know how authentic this is for Thai food, but it's certainly spicy. I love spicy food and I sincerely doubt I could finish a "Thai Spicy" dish -- hot is definitely enough for me. The service here is polite and friendly, and the decor is very interesting. If it's not too busy, you'll even have the option to sit at the traditional-style tables where you're asked to remove your shoes and sit on a pillow at a "ground-level" table (although these booths are elevated). The wood sculptures on the walls are incredibly intricate and nice to look at. The best aspect of this restaurant, though, is certainly the food. Many times, they'll give you a free cup of soup to start off your meal; the dumplings are a satisfying appetizer that come with two delicious sauces; and of course the noodle dishes are spectacular. I'm partial to the drunken noodles (pad kea mao), which combine mildly sweet and intensely spicy flavors with a brilliant noodle texture. The tom yum soup is also really good; ordered hot, it was probably one of the spiciest dishes I've ever eaten. The only drawback to this place that comes to my mind is that sometimes there's a wait -- I guess the word is spreading already!
Thai food is probably one of my favorite foods to eat. If there is a Thai restaurant anywhere near me, I will try it. When I lived in Littleton, Wild Ginger was at the end of my street so needless to say, it was the main staple in our house. My niece (10 at the time) begged for their green chicken curry and coconut ice cream. My favorites were the BBQ chicken or BBQ Shrimp (Neither have BBQ sauce on them). So many spices and charcoal cooked to perfection. My mouth is watering just writing about this place. I miss you Wild Ginger.
I will admit that i'm not an avid fan of thai food, but the Wild Ginger was GREAT! Because coconut milk is one of my least favorite ingredients, I ordered the Royal Chicken with a medium spicyness to it. Delicious, but the cashews were at a minimum and my mouth was pretty much on fire (so watch out if you're sensitive to spice). Their chicken satay was one of the best I've tasted. My brother who IS a fan of coconut milk loved their green curry sauce. The Pad Thai was also scrumptious. Oh and you can't go to a Thai restaurant and not order a Thai Iced Tea. This is a good place to try one if you never have. The dining room is small, but inviting and they even have awesome floor booths. The service was customer friendly and fast. If you enjoy Thai food, then I'm quite certain you'll become a fan of Wild Ginger.
simply put...the best Thai restaurant in Colorado.
Wild Ginger may not be chic, and you'll have to head to strip-mall studded suburbia to get there, but the scintillating Thai food at this understated, but elegant spot in Littleton, is as flavorful and fragrant as anywhere in town. Curries are the main draw here, most of which are so smooth and creamy, they could pass as desserts --- were it not for the fire that singes your tongue. Even satay, a mainstay on most Thai menus, gets the royal treatment, and the ubiquitous pad Thai is outstanding. The decor is a huge step up from your basic hole-in-the-wall Thai joint and unobtrusive servers dress in native Thai garb. If you're feeling in a footsie kind of mood, opt for one of the cozy floor seats.
The best Thai food in the Denver area, hands down. While it has similar flavors to it's cousin in Central Denver (Tommy's Thai), Wild Ginger wins my vote for better taste. More veggies, more heat. My favorite is the green curry (thai curry) with chicken, medium spicy. The spicy green beans are also outstanding. I've not had a dish here that I didn't love. Save room for dessert... mango with sticky rice. I know it sounds weird, but it's really really good.
We loved the atmosphere, the seating, the people. Here we have the total combination of people, food, value and ambience. Long live Wild Ginger. It is kid friendly, busy and happy. We got out of there of $78 with wine for a family of four. Comfy, nice. The green curry was esquisite, Pad Thai great noodle texture. Oregon Pinot. Happy Kap,
One of the few truly authentic and tasty Thai restaurants in the Denver Burbs... the service, atmosphere and food is all excellent! Enjoy!
