5 reviews for Wild East Asian Bistro
This is an excellent restaurant that manages to cook great food within reasonable price (at least by Las Olas standard). The outdoor seating on the river really give you that Venice feel.
A great thing with this restaurant is that you can order take-out. It may be a few dollars more than the run of the mill take-away strip mall but then you get restaurant quality food.
If you're a fan Pad Thai try it out, it is as close to the real thing dry style I've eaten in Thailand as I've found so far in the US. Perhaps a little too easy on the spice, but ask for hot or spruce it up at home with some dried chili.
It's definitely a 4 star and the take-out takes it to the 5th one in my book.
I've been to Wild East for business meetings when we needed to break away from the office, parties and family outings. Their food is amazing, and their crispy calamari is hands down the best appetizer on the menu, yum! It's a great atmosphere for dates, and eating on the water when the weather is cool makes for a comfortable atmosphere for an enjoyable dinner.
I'v eaten here several times since it opened a couple of years ago. The food is reliably good and while the wine list isn't very inventive, it's passable. I'm a big fan of the steamed sea bass. It's one of the few places that you can sit on the water and have a good meal. It's been a real challenge for me to find good asian fusion food in South Florida and finding this place seemed like a stroke of luck. I hope it stays around.
An excellent Asian fusion restaurant towards the end of Las Olas.
We started our meal with the crab wontons, which were crispy and sweet. The Thai chicken sticks were juicy and flavorful, coated with a light peanut sauce. We ordered three family-style entrees for the four of us, which proved to be exactly enough food. The veggie lo mein was tasty, and the mango chicken had a sweet, fruity sauce. The kung pao chicken was unremarkable, however; somewhat disappointing that this traditional Asian staple proved rather bland. For dessert, I highly recommend the spring roll bananas and ice cream. A fantastic way to cap off any meal.
Props to our server for recommending Midnight Moon, a fine, smooth sake with many vodka-like qualities. Demerits to our server for getting overly involved in our conversation and for claiming that Wild East was a "traditional Asian restaurant".
I would be happy to return to this fine restaurant.
An asian restaurant over looking the river on Las Olas!!! How could you complain, let's face it! I lunched at Wild East last week with a client and was thoroughly impressed so much so that I can't wait to go back!
The owner is the same as Jasmine in Boca Raton which has been around for many years. He brought all different dishes together at this fusion of Asian restaurant. I usually have issues with Asian Fusion restaurants unless they are trendy/funky/minimal design. Think Tao in NYC. I started with the Vietnemese summer rolls and I have to say I was a bit disappointed since I didn't feel they represented the dish well (there was no rice vermicelli wrapped in the rice noodle, no spring onion, no pork and no mint). The rice noodle was also harder than I like it to be which tells me that they don't make them fresh to order. All was ok since my main was out of this world. I want to say my dish was called "firecracker chicken." The server advised me that it is not for those scared of spicy food. He said that it will 'burn your mouth off.' Of course that caught my attention since I am a spice whore and was very intrigued if a place could actually live up to their hype about spice. I think for the people that appreciate spicy food but don't eat it every day, this would be a very spicy dish. Since I am what you would consider an 'expert' at spicy food, I didn't even notice it. I could see the red chili's in the dish but I couldn't actually taste the spice. I had him bring me some chili oil on the side and the rest was history. The dish was cooked to perfection. All of the ingredients were very fresh and high quality. The noodles were cooked perfectly. I wasn't sure how I would feel about udon noodles in anything other than soup but I was pleasantly surprised and look forward to ordering this again the next time I go. If you are interested in trying an asian fusion restaurant in a trendy setting, please don't hesitate and GO to this place before they go out of business from lack of risk takers.
