It's busy, crowded, and the line moves so-so. The restaurant is definitely too small for how many people go there.
Despite all that I can hardly think of a time when I've gone to Truckee and not eaten here... especially before a snowboarding trip. Their breakfast burritos are awesome, though sometimes cold inside because they re-heat them (yet I still love and order them).
Above all, I recommend their Turkey pesto panini sandwich, though its probably called something else. That thing is dang good.
I also love how their meals come with chips and salsa, mostly because their salsa is surprisingly awesome (surprisingly because why would it be at a place like that?).
- Don't order the smoothies - those things suck.
- The coffee is fine. I constantly hear how much people like it, but I just think its 'meh' -

Truckee never stops to impress me, I enjoy how honest, loyal, and quaint the little places in Truckee can be. Wild Cherries Coffee House is one of those. This is a great place for visitors and locals alike. There service was fast, the coffee and food was great.
Easy to get to, and a great spot. When you walk in there is tons of sitting, In side and Out. The counter is strait ahead with a list of drinks on the wall behind the register. The place has a warm and welcome feel and it makes you just want to sit and relax.
Quick and Dirty: Great Spot! good for a quick cup of coffee or to sit and relax. -

Truckee, CA
Coffee here was really good, had an exceptional "corporate macciato" but not after getting it confused with a "real macciato" which is apparently just espresso with foam. But I have to say that the service left a little to be desired. I got no greeting when I walked in, and no "thank you have a nice day!" when I left. And they weren't even particularly busy. Call me old fashioned, but just that one little greeting and thank you can make all the difference when I'm choosing a coffee shop. None of the employees were particularly rude, but not particularly nice either. Guess they're just so used to snooty tourists and ritzy coffee snobs to think that such things would make a difference.

I've been here at least a dozen times in the last year. At first I was impressed but at some point they lost there focus on the customer treating the whole guest interaction as if they don't care anymore. The food is average. The location is perfect on route to local resorts. Parking can be tuff at times. I recommend the hazelnut coffee.

What a gem Truckee has!
Everyone and their grandma was here last Sunday! Place was packed. Wild Cherries must be THEEE place to get your morning or afternoon fix! Only open for breakfast and lunch. Free Wi-Fi.
After staring up at the menu for a bit and letting other go infront of me (due to being undecisive), I finally ended up with the everything bagel with cream cheese and avocado. I ommited the red onion. It was deeeeee-liscious!! Fresh avocado and plain cream cheese on a toasted bagel was perfect for my tummy! I also had a double shot of their white mocha. So robust, it woke my butt up, thats for sure! Prices are pretty normal in my book for a bagel sandwich and a great tasting coffee. For mine it was around $8.50 or so.
After ordering you find yourself a place to sit, indoor or outdoor and they give you a number then bring you your food when ready. Nice! Looks like alot of locals with their dogs chill outside and talk shop.
Another place I will try to come back and visit when up in Truckee. -

This place is perfect to hang out with your friends or kids. The food is good the coffee better and the ambiance great. Whenever I have a spare moment I stop by to grab a cup of Joe or to eat one of their kitchen sink cookies (which are to die for). Their sandwiches are great and if you have a sweet tooth they also have excellent smoothies, soft service ice cream, cookies and pastries. If you need a quick pick me up you should stop here. It has a great local vibe too!

I love this place! Local people are packed tight for the coffee - and socializing. And I'm a big fan of the owner, Kris, she is Hot!

I love Wild Cherries more than fresh powder.

Truckee, CA
My favorite coffee house in Truckee! The foam for their latte is always thick and creamy. The "deli build your own sandwich" is a winner, you can pile the veggies on high, cut out the mayo and get the bread you want. The "kitchen sink chocolate chip cookies" are real tasty and filling. My wife likes the Yogi salad. Vegan chili is great also. Friendly staff takes the time to remember locals by name.

Coffee is delicious! being known as a "Coffee House" and Locally owned as well. I hope to up the rating in the coming months, just stop making me feel like another coffee addict... another number!

If I am up in Truckee Wild Cherries is on my must visit list. The coffee is strong tasty and hot. Their food is hearty and many items are home made. Plan on a line on the weekend but don't fret it moves fast. Folks are pretty aggressive for seats, so be on the look out from the moment you walk in for a place to park your butt.
Service is simple and friendly. But I give them credit I have noticed the same set of folks working there for just about a year now. So they must be treating their employees well!
For coffee, breakfast or lunch there this is for sure a place to check out. -

Good coffee many selections of coffee and self service. I also had a Ham and cheese bagel sandwich. The Bagel was good but really small, perhaps made in house or by a local bakery. Not quite worth the $5 price tag but good. The staff was friendly. Id go back for coffee next time I'm in Truckee.

Place is not that bad.
The staff is courteous and quick to get your order to you. Nothing really sticks out about this place though. A step above Starbucks for sure though.
This place can get VERY busy (a local favorite) but they get through the lines pretty quickly.
Drip coffee is a good deal, and their chocolate croissant is very enjoyable (ask them to heat it up!).
The biggest turn off for me is the $5 dollar minimum for debit/credit transaction. Honestly not that big of a deal... but I never really carry cash so it's somewhat of an inconvenience. -

The service here leaves much to be desired.
And it's a shame, because the coffee is just divine.
As much as I loved the enthusiastic "...hey..." from the barista with the glazed eyes and the perma-frown. And the *WHAM...thrusts coffee* from the guy who actually made my drink (Sheesh...could you maybe NOT huck it at me like it's a diseased rodent?)...i just don't think I can handle such all-around joy at one time, in one place.1 Previous Review: Show all »

This place is a good place to get a coffee or tea drink in Truckee. I have found that the food is good and the coffee drinks are enjoyable.
The employees are usually friendly, out of the five times I have gone to this store I remember a couple bad experiences due to angry employees.
This place is always really crowded, which makes it a noisy and hostile environment. If you are looking for a quite environment, I would recommend going somewhere else.
The reason why I gave it two stars is their credit card policy. Stores today should accept credit cards without an minimum amount. I went in to get a coffee and ended up having to purchase over $5 worth of stuff just to be able to use my card. I work and own a business and it is unacceptable that stores try to enforce a policy like this. -

I stopped in here for some beakfast with a client on our way to do some day skiing at Sugar Bowl. Mid week its doesn't seem too crowded. The service was fine and food was good. It was an easy way to have breakfast with out too much drama and better then fast food. My client liked it and had never been to Truckee before. I'll stop in again on my next time in Truckee.

Truckee, CA
Wild Cherries has been a staple of Truckee locals and visitors for a long time! It's got a bustling but inviting atmosphere that suits most everyone's mood. (The outdoor seating and lawn area are also great.) The food's good, hearty fare that always makes you feel good all over and the coffee+espresso is excellent. The service can be better some days than others but it's always efficient.

Oakland, CA
Nice enough place with character in old strip mall in non-touristy west end of town.
Pluses:
* Lots of food options so good place for lunch or a snack; it looks like they have a really good chocolate cake
* No password needed for wi-fi
* Places to sit outside
* Available magazines and wood furniture makes a little home-y
* You can get non-disposable cups for coffee
Minuses:
* Wi-fi was 1mbs when I was there so not terribly fast
* Espresso was kind of watery
* Surroundings are not that nice; you're not going to walk here from anywhere (unless you go to the high school next door) but parking is fine if you're driving
* Unnecessary TV with sound off. tuned to news station (I don't like TVs in bars either but you may not care) -

For as long as I've been climbing up in Donner, I'd never stopped into Wild Cherries until recently. Now I stop in almost weekly as I am climbing that frequently. If I lived in Truckee I'd come for the free wi-fi and $1 coffee. Although, I have family who live in Truckee and when I was excited to share my new found joy in Wild Cherries, they both scoffed "They have terrible service in there, I'd rather go to Starbucks." From my personal experience though, I've never had bad service.
Best thing: A small coffee cost $1. One buck that's it.
Outdoor seating is nice!
Love the gift items they have.
Love the Fruit Smooties ...
Loved the cookies I've had too.
That wraps it up.Listed in: COFFEE, The Places I Go Out

Great coffee & menu selection! The spicy chicken sandwich is one of my favorites, as well as the vegan chilli. I am not remotely vegan, but would highly recommend this to all food lovers - veggie, vegan & meat lovers... And the Hawaiian Hazelnut coffee is amazing!
The place is normally packed but 9 times out of 10 you'll be able to quickly find a spot & can be a great place to sit down with a laptop. The food is served relatively quick for how busy the place normally is.
Great spot for coffee, breakfast & lunch! Really the best spot in town, by far! -
Review from Jen K.
This place is everything a coffee house should be. Locally owned, fun and casual. High quality drink, nibbles and great people. I don't regularly drink coffee, but always grab a cup when I'm in the area. That is when the line isn't practically out the door. This place seems to get more and more popular every time I'm in the area.
Nice patio and ladies, did I mention that it is next door to the Fire House.... just sayin'Listed in: Tahoe Time

Stopped by here around 3pm on my drive home from Tahoe. It wasn't crowded, and I didn't feel rushed to order- my guess is that this when it's a good time to go here. Ordered the small Yogi Salad and loved it. Big salad with tons of organic veggies and loads of protein (chicken/eggs/walnuts). The spicy chicken sandwich was also really filling and satisfying (the focaccia was almost too good as you felt sortof guilty eating it-- extra soft, clearly freshly made, lots of rosemary).
Good food, local vibe- just what I wanted. Free wi-fi and friendly dogs waiting outside are an added plus. -

Love this place.. love the coffee.. I believe the coffee is just as good, if not better than the evil SBucks..
But i digress.. this is definitely the local hang out for a coffee, before hitting the slopes..
And if i had a choice between supporting my local favorites vs. the evil empire.. i vote local.
You wont be disappointed. -

I need to point out the amusing inside joke on the menu: they offer a "corporate macchiato," which is what you get if you walk into a Starbucks and order a macchiato: it's a latte with vanilla syrup and caramel drizzle. Which of course is not what a real macchiato is supposed to be.
In a weird ironic twist, Art's Coffee House in Incline Village has a "caramel macchiato" on the menu, and it's also the exact equivalent of the Starbucks drink. So Art's cafe is the dual opposite of Wild Cherries, in a David Lynch Doppleganger sort of way.
As far as useful information: this place is open daily 6-6 -

Hats off to Wild Cherries Coffee house. This place is almost always packed, with a line out the door to match. Locally owned and operated, why would anyone go down the road to Starbucks when this place offers better coffee at better prices? FRiENDS DON'T LET FRiENDS DRiNK STARBUCKS (err....when you're in Truckee, anyways! And if not- go to Peet's next)! I like their Mocha with dutch cocoa, or their ghirardelli white mocha. the breakfast sandwiches and lunch paninis are super yummy! Best coffee house I've been to yet. Hands down.
Oh one more thing- Try the Turkey Pesto Panini on sourdough- AMAZINS, yo. -

Local coffe shop in Truckee. Good coffee & breakfast food. Even better, stop here in the am before hitting the slopes and order something a little extra for lunch.
I think their jalapeno cream cheese on a toasted bagel is really tasty! -
Review from Jeremy G.
This place, all around, was horrible.
I ordered a double espresso to help perk me up for a day hike and the people behind the counter were downright cold and unfriendly. I understand the cafe was busy, but you can at least muster a smile and maybe, just maybe, a few words like "Thank you" or "Have a nice day"? The simple things, you know?
I got my espresso from the expressionless barista and it was like a double shot of light drip coffee. There wasn't any crema and really no flavor at all. I have NEVER had an espresso that was that bad.
This place has a lot of potential and hopefully they can figure out what's wrong with their espresso machine and hire some friendly baristas. Having a great location will only work for them as long as a better coffee shop doesn't open up in town.
The day was not a completely loss, though. My hike up Castle Peak went very well, except for getting a bit lost and ending up on entirely the wrong peak. Ha ha. But then again, getting lost is half the fun! -

Hell yeah,
How could I forget "Wild Hotties"!?!?!
When I lived in TD we'd go here all the time. Its one of those great places where you're likely to run into neighbors from around the corner or a random guy from the other side of the earth who's come out to ski.
Awesome breads and damn good coffee based drinks. Decent sammies and fine, fine ladies.
The food kicks ass, the line moves fast and you can read your horoscope in the local indie paper while you grub. Open early so you can get first tracks. -

Wild Cherries has become my Coffee spot and I love it. I move a lot so finding "my coffee spot" means a lot. The staff is warm and welcoming, they knew me(or at least my drink) within the first handful of visits. Their sandwiches and breakfast burritos are soooo yummie! I've been in the service industry for most of my work life and I truly appreciate and recognize good people and food I can count on. This place has it and has me. Thank Wild Cherries. Keep being GREAT!

Only went there once...and witnessed an employee angrily changing a trash bag next to where the customers form a line, scoop out old trash and goop with bare hands. drop it on the floor, scoop it up again and toss it into the new trash bag, and splatter some on a customer who was standing by. Neither one noticed what's been done (customer's back was turned and the splatter landed on his jacket's shoulders), but I wonder if that same guy makes the sandwiches in the back. NO THANK YOU!
Service was not cold, but not too warm either. Place seems to have an odd set up - I didn't feel welcome and just felt rushed. Cookies were good, but too sweet. Coffee was just OK...I might go back again so this bad review doesn't haunt my conscience for the rest of my life.... -

This place never dissapoint everytime I am in North Tahoe.
The breakfast is fresh, fast and delicious! The bagels, the croissants, the breakfast burrito seletion make my head spins everytime, what to have! If you like salmon, their bagels with salmon gets two thumbs up.
Coffee is solid, not the best around, but it is a great deal for what they charge.
The servers are nice and prompt. What else can you ask for? -

Considering that I come here every winter, preferring this joint to Starbucks, I would say that this whole town of Truckee is nice, people are nice, the air makes everything taste great but....I guess I'm just not used to the whole taking the time that people do when you order food or beverages. Super nice people but the service is definitely slow.... But the time taken to make the food and bev definitely shows, the coffee is delish and the food is great.

This place is awesome! The pesto bagel breakfast sandwich was so good I got it two days in a row...this is now a mandatory stop any time I'm in Tahoe to go skiing. The coffee is good, the service is quick, the prices reasonable and the food is to die for. Everyone in my group was really satisfied, I love this place!

While in Truckee for 3 days, we visited this place twice. Our local friends seem to love it.
The coolest part is that they have a drip coffee station where you just drop a buck or so in the bin and get your coffee. No wait, no mess, no nothin'.
I don't drink coffee, but I ordered an iced tea the first time I came. Not sure if they heard the "Tea" part, because the whole cup was FILLED with ice. There was maybe two sips of tea. I was kind of pissed.... I hate how places rip you off by filling up the cup with ice. Next time I went I ordered LIGHT ice and they obliged.
There was a girl there with blond hair whose pants rode so low that her ass crack was on prominent display the whole time she was walking around. Ew.
Other than that, the place seems like a nice and spacious place to chill with your friends, and they also have an outside deck! -

I really wanted to give this place more stars. Everything looked so good and I'm sure it is. I think I just ordered the wrong thing. I got a pesto panini on ciabatta. It was good, pesto, melty cheese, but I think the combination of pesto with the ciabatta was just TOO salty.
I really liked the people who worked there and the ambiance, but my sando was just not very yummy. I'll come back next time I'm in town and order something else for sure! -

Good coffee, but the sandwiches are where it's at.
The Turkey Club or the Turkey Pesto Paninis are outstanding. I also like the atmosphere of the place. It looks a bit trendy and could be a possible douche-lair, but it's a local hangout.
Beware the manager Yvonne, she's the one who looks like a chubby man with glasses. She' sucks at life and consistently tries to spread her "case of the Mondays" around, but don't let that ruin your time there. -

Good coffee, great breakfasts - whether hot (breakfast sandwiches, burritos, etc.) or pastries/muffins. Also a great selection of lunch fare and COOKIES! Plan for a wait, though - it is rare that there is not a crowd. Even so, the people who work there are friendly. TIP: if you can, call ahead and place your order ... Nice outdoor seating as well. Two thumbs up.
