People are fiercely loyal to Wild and Woolly Video and for good reason.  When all the Blockbusters and Hollywood Videos thin down their stock to make room for new releases; Wild and Woolly keeps expanding their selection.

TV on DVD, they have it.  British TV on DVD, they have it.  Long lost psychedelic movies from the 60's, they have it.  They have horror from around the world, the only rentable collection of giallo (Italian crime/mystery/thriller/horror) I've seen, drama, comedy, porn, children's movies... you name it - they have it and they have every subgenre to go with it.

Rentals are cheap.  You can rent an entire season of the show for the cost of one rental.  I love W&W.  I could spend hours digging through their movies then spend days watching them.  Staff is always helpful and friendly.  I'd give them ten stars if I could.

Dear Wild & Woolly

You have provided me with late night entertainment on many many occasions (only once did it include one of your staff!).  Through a messy breakup you were there to cheer me with your comedy and transfix me with your action.  Sometimes you were my only reliable companion........

If I had you in NYC, Wild & Woolly I wouldn't have NetFlix. I love you. Through all the location changes and staff turnover, I still love you.  I'm glad you are ok during this fatal time for Movie Rental stores. When I come back to Louisville I might even give up my Netflix, it would just feel like I was cheating on you.

xoxo

Amelia

I love this place! A true Louavull gem that will probably survive the $20 Extra Extra Large that the city will cut from it's budget.
I WAS surprised that the W & W did not have some cult classics that the video store in the Mid City Mall used to stock.
I suggest new titles should be added.  Fly Fishing In Beargrass Creek, Legalizing, Taxing, and Regulating Pot in the Commonwealth, and Secrets of My Morning Jacket's Taco Salad, come to mind.

Peace,

 U.B.

Wild and Woolly seems small and a little hipster dirty, but due their filing system they have what seems like way more videos than the mega Blockbuster down the road. What I especially like are the TV seasons. Blockbuster doesn't have Planet Earth. W&W does. Blockbuster doesn't have Seinfeld (!), W&W has every season. Blockbuster has the first season of The Wire, W&W has all five. And when you rent them, it's cheaper to rent the whole season at W&W than one quarter of the season at Blockbuster.
The staff does have a little of that "I know so much more about pop-culture than you" snobbery. But that can be charming depending on how you look at it.

Wild and Woolly is one of the few places I knew that I would miss when I moved. If you love old horror b-movies, film noir, troma or any hard to find movie, you'll love this place.  They also have new releases as well.  It's nothing close to Blockbuster or Hollywood Video...thanks god!  This place is a must if you consider yourself a movie buff.

The widest variety of films, and a very good gay/lesbian film selection (the only gayme in town).

This is the best place for movies in Louisville.  Lots of stuff you wont find anywhere else.  Maybe you want some art films, off the beaten track, no big name star movie with substance.  They  also have new movies, low rental prices and personal recommendations.  Its better than Netflix! Support the local shops! No waiting, just go in an get what you want.  Instant gratification.
