This old tavern sits inside the very nice Hotel Northampton and you would think seeing the surroundings it would be good. I ate breakfast here in December and was shocked to see that this spot has some of the worst food in the city. The city is full of trendy places to eat and caters to a moxed crowd of customers. What I found here is that the service is terrible and the menu and selections are a joke. They are your average chain restaurant food, thrown together and just basically bad tasting. If you stay here, go outside the hotel to eat. I cannot imagine what dinner of lunch is like if an easy meal like breakfast is this bad.
If you ever find yourself in Northampton, Massachusetts on a Sunday and you are looking for a good place for brunch, you might want to check out the Hotel Northampton's "Wiggins Old Tavern." Located one floor below the hotel, the atmosphere is so cozy and inviting that it makes you feel that you're eating at home. What more is that you will see the table laden with goodies just right in front of you and if that isn't enough to draw you into the restaurant, I don't know what will. At $17.00 per person (prices may change), it isn't that bad if you consider the choices that you have to do with 4 long tables of breakfast and lunch fares.
