Huge Whole World fan here.  I've been going for the past few years now and I crack da f up every single time I go.  Sure, some casts are funnier than others, but if you don't laugh it's because you're a Debbie Downer.  I recently took a date with me instead of the usual gay faux beau.  It was his first time and he's already asking when we can go back.

Love you, WWT.

I used to be a Dad's Garage follower, but I have converted to a Whole Worldian.

I tend to go almost every week now, and while there are on nights and off nights (very very few), it is consistently great. The cast is in frequent rotation and I never feel like I am getting the same thing when I go. It has become my time to just relax and laugh and forget about the weekday stress- Thursdays are especially great, since it is pay what you can- it is a cheap and easy way to have a fun night!

I've also had a date take me here... and let me tell you, it was a great date ;)... a walk through Piedmont Park and then Whole World... I would recommend that for anyone!

Seriously, this place is worth checking out, and remember that audience participation really does make it better- and the more silly and creative you are (instead of just yelling out things like "sex", "gay", "poop"... that is the only thing I notice every time I go... c'mon people, get interesting!) the more fun it is. Also you get a free beer, which is always nice.

Also, the shows are generally adult, but they will do children's shows every now and then which I haven't seen myself, but I have heard from friends that they are good.

I have been to agatha christies playhouse in atlanta for a company christmas dinner before so I thought I kinda knew what I was in for here.

But I was wrong, this place was so much better. It's small but has it's own charm about it. They don't serve food, but have beer and wine, and a great staff!

The shows success greatly depends on the crowd and their ideas. These people do this professionally all the time so they are looking for unique ideas, you can only do gay so many times until it's not funny anymore. And if you have a good idea that they choose you can get a free beer........hello, I said free beer, need I say more!

Like I said this was my first time here so I don't really have anything to compare it to, but I was laughing pretty hard at times. I really enjoyed my experience here, and would enjoy going back. The show is not that expensive and they also have a pay when you can thing going on due to the economy, as well as improve classes you can take if you are interested. So take the time to check out the place it's worth it.

I have been here in the past a few years ago and it was very funny.

So why the one star? I took a group for my wife's birthday, and the guy running the house was so rude and awful. He not only managed to piss me off, he individually pissed off people in my party and other people that were there for the show. Needless to say, it was a huge downer for everyone.

If I had known that he had been rude to my wife and closed the door in her face when she was trying to go in the show, it would of gotten real ugly. I was busy trying to make all of my guests happy, as they were wondering why they couldn't go into the show. He wouldn't explain what was going on to anyone. I told him three times that I had a group of over 20 and they needed to be seated. On the last one, I said it was my wife's birthday and she was inside, and I wanted to sit with her. He accused me of being hostile, which I wasn't. I thought he was going to try and throw me out. He just walked off. I have a witness to all three request. One of my wife's friends who is in the entertainment industry even came out of the show and was freaking livid with the guy; that he didn't seat me with my wife already. I will admit that we arrived just before the show started, but hey our group was almost half the crowd, and to walk there with all the construction going on and the rain was enough to delay anyone.

On top of that, the cast really wasn't that funny. They tried, but as I recall on my last visit, people were just rolling. And even with it not being so great, house manager, aka Dippy Downer, was telling people to be quiet, and actually went up to them in their seat to tell them. What? It's a comedy show with audience interaction. It's not SNL people, get with reality.

I will have to say that I did chat with the nice lady at the bar. I really just wanted to know what the hell was up. She tried to make it right with some beer, but all had gone wrong already. I was actually more pissed off that a good thing like a non-profit theater had been ruined in my eyes. I'm sure the cast didn't know what was going on. It just sucks that they had someone doing a buzz kill on their hard work. The house manager never even apologized, and he knew what was going on, really no class there.

All in all, I wouldn't recommend going anymore, maybe wait another year. I'll give the cast an ok, because it could of been an off night. My name for them last night would have been "Funny in Our Own Little World."  23 double thumbs down from my group.

I came last night because I noticed (on Yelp Events of course!) that they were having a "Pay What You Can" promotion through June and July. It is a great deal as usually tickets are $16/each. I paid $5 and at the end, felt that I had definitely gotten my money's worth of laughs out of Whole World.

Overall, there were some really funny bits and some flat bits, but the actors were high energy and game for the ridiculous comments spouted from the audience. I am always amazed by the quick-wittedness of improv actors! Plus you get a free beer if the MC thinks your shoutout rocks! Very laid back, casual/cozy environment-- no need to dress up although people definitely do. I'd say try to go ASAP so you can take advantage of their current deal-- support the non-profit!

Would probably try to come back with a larger group of friends! For $5 (some people paid a dollar!)...come on guys-- doesn't really get much better than that for 2 hours of entertainment!!

I went here once a while back.  I had a great time, but to be honest, I feel like you get a lot more bang for your buck at good ol' Dad's Garage.

I don't remember anything I didn't like about my experience here.  It just didn't have the all-around wow factor for me that Dad's Garage did.  I feel that it's unfair to say that without giving a more detailed review, so I promise to visit WWT again sometime soon and update with more information.

If you have ever laughed at your own jokes, harder than those around you, and if Tina Fey or Jimmy Fallon are your heroes, then you will be in your element!

This place ROCKS!! I took the 2-hour "I am not sure if I am cut out for Improv'" class a few weeks ago and it was awesome! You need to be comfortable (and confident) with getting out of your comfort zone, which felt great! The class was a mix of verbal and non-verbal communication, and it is fun to be around  people with ligtning speed delivery!

In terms of the shows themselves, the cast is always cool and they are really respectful to "not offend" with their humor, which I think is great!

They have a small bar here, and two great areas to hang out  in,before being called in to your seats.

Go! Have Fun! Bring Others! It will make for a fun night!

Great spot for a date. The improv show is definitely funny and will be entertaining. lots of pop culure references and jokes so the girls eat it up. Also lots of crowd participation so it keeps things fun.

very casual atmmosphere. you sit on couches you can probably find at any garage sale. also have regular black fold out chairs....that sort of plays into the charm of the place. its not supposed to be trendy. put it this way, I watched the show with a bucket of beer at my feet...sweet!

I went to a 10:30pm show and it was definitely pretty rowdy in the crowd. made for a good show.

my only con is the price. $24 each is a little steep but its a good show. for that price I prob won't be going wit the fellas but like I said a good date place. not sure about parking..I walked.

I went to the WWT last night and it was full of hilarity.  (Of course I would think so since they took some of my audience-suggestions and put them in the show).  The stage is versatile, the seats were good (unless you were in front of the camera), and the actors were great.

The lounge is a wee bit pricy, but I'll forgive since they're a not-for-profit.  There's a shortage of bathrooms at intermission, so be forewarned.  I highly recommend planning ahead and getting there early for a pre-show drink.  (And more importantly, to sort out the parking situation*.)

Also stick around for a bit after the show. The cast came out to mingle and one of the staff was out with a clipboard to ask for suggestions.

*There's a public lot a few buildings down, but the sidewalk is full of cracks and dog poo, so be very very careful where you step, especially if you are wearing stiletto sandals.  I'm taking off a star for this, but if I go back and they make me laugh out loud more than once, I'll add it back.

Whole World Theatre deserves five stars for doing the impossible: Making a room full of strangers laugh their ass off.

I love Whole World Theatre - and judging by all the positive reviews, who doesn't?  More specifically, I love the humorous jokes, I love the bar, I love the stage, I love the crowd, but what I love the most is the energy of this place.  I feel like everyone comes here, trying to have a good time.  With such positive attitude, audiences laugh and have a blast and ultimately leave the theater in such happy mood!

I appreciate Whole World Theatre, because Atlanta nightlife isn't really underage-friendly.  Just because you are a minor, you have to spend your weekend night in your room?  Totally not fair.  Yeah, going to movie theater is an option, but movie theaters have their limits.  So WWT is a good alternative nightlife option for those of us who can't legally drink yet.  (The bar at WWT offers non-alcoholic beverage options too.  How perfect!)

Laughing to the point where you can't breath never felt so good!

Laughter meets live performance meets unlimited creativity. I've been to Whole World half a dozen times, and every time I am surprised by the original and hilarious antics. No performance has been close to the same, and every Actor is talented but most of all: funny.

I'm a big theatre buff myself, but I've been with friends and family from all walks of life and they would probably rate it right up there with me. It really is one of my most favorite things to do in Atlanta. It's a great date, or a great place to take out-of-towners after dinner for a drink and some quality entertainment. Definitely an icebreaker that puts everyone in an uplifted mood.

You can order your tickets in advance or pay at the door, two performance times on the weekends, and be sure to get there early. Before the show they gather your improv suggestions, while you enjoy their bar and out-of-this-world art.

Go to Whole World Theatre ASAP for a whole lotta fun!

Ok 4.999997 stars and only b/c I have high standards   =)

I live in Atlantic Station and must have driven pass what looked like an abandon building to me a dozen times before

Inside, completely different story...lounge area had enough room, amphitheater a little cramp but appropriate for genre, and best of all genuinely funny actors & actresses

BTW interesting story last night (TUES). I was "chosen" to couple up w/ a very nice Southern Belle on the couch (see their website for event details)

And no we didn't win the all-expense paid free date (aside, 2nd runner up really deserved it)...c'mon do you really expect me to remember her last name? But I was impressed she remembered my job.

Anyway, what's rattlin' in my head right now...is when should I sign up for acting classes?!?   hahaha

BTW it's my first review in a while...usually get paid big $$$ for these kinds of insights...feeling charitable today   =P

One word: infectious
Or, two words: too much
I've seen so many shows here I can't count it on all my remaining digits, but I've honestly considered getting up and leaving in the middle of a scene because I was laughing so hard it litterally hurt.  And by nature it's always so fresh and so clean, clean - so it's new every time.  Whole World Theatre is a guarantee every night and is quite likely to get you some action from your date.

Went for the improv at WWT tonight. WOW. These guys (and girls) are AMAZING. Every single scene nearly had Jane and I rolling in the aisle. I wish I could say more but I'm just at a loss for words. Go. NOW.

WWT sells beer, wine and soft drinks for you to enjoy before and during the show. If I had to say anything negative, it was that parking is a bit of a hassle if you are a cheapskate like me who won't pay the $4 to park nearby. I found a street spot on the other side of 14th, so it wasn't too bad.

ber awesome place to go with friends, co-workers, a date...you name it. When you first walk in you see a cool bar and the place is packed with people waiting to get in (you're called in groups of numbers), Local artwork hangs on bright colored walls and there are some couches in the back for hanging out before the show.

The show itself was amazing, and I won't go into too many details - because the show will be different every time you go. It is improv after all. Impersonations and voices were dead on, and these actors and actresses were so talented in instantly getting into character. One of the best improvs I've seen.

Just like all the other reviews mention, WWT is classic 'first date' fare, and I likewise fall into the 'had a great first date here' club, too. Unlike the movies, people won't give you dirty looks if you talk quietly to your date-ee, plus if you get a couch spot, it makes a good spot for 'accidental' body touching. (Nothing raunchy here, kids. I'm talking innocent first date knee brushes, not back of the movie theatre makeout sessions.)

Seeing these comics literally put it all out there is exhilarating. Just went to see the WWT gang (at Improv in the Park, an annual free event, which is great!), and much discussion about how if it was us, we'd be vomiting backstage because of fear of being. .. well, not funny.

Thankfully these pros and even the improv class participants, are quite that.  The skits go by quick, they take intermissions to refill your booze and it gives you a lot to talk about.

And of course the hurts so good cheek pain from laughing too much.

Yay, WWT!

I've been to the Whole World quite a few times with friends, on dates and I've even taken clients there. There is no better way to bond than over laughter.

I won't bother trying to describe what your experience will be like if you go because it is different every time. There is a back and forth between the stage actors and the audience that is crucial to improv. If the audience sucks the actors can only do so much to make it funny. Also, the different combinations of actors can affect the level of the performance as well. Usually the result is hilarity though.

I've truly never seen a bad show at the Whole World. Chip, who usually acts as the MC is a freaking riot all on his own and he encourages the audience to participate and rewards the funny audience members with free beer.

mmmmmm free beer.....i want to be funny.

Funny, funny, funny this is a great place to come out with a group of friends or even a date (not a first date because there isn't much time for talking and getting to know each other during the show). I made the mistake of coming to a 2 hr show on an empty stomach. Coming in at 8 and not leaving until about 11 doesn't do much to keep a stomach happy. The one good thing is they serve beer and wine. Hmmm, getting drunk on an empty stomach I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad one but after a few beers and some laughs I was all good. I had been to WWT a few times before but it was for work functions and there's only but so much letting loose you can do with the VP sitting on the old sofa next to you. And yes I'll let you soak that comment in for a minute "sitting on an old sofa" the interior of the place has a old frat boy feel but I think that adds to the locations charm. The performance we saw had some really high, highs and some really low, lows but as the stage manager told everyone before the show "the energy you feed us helps make the show better". The crowd Friday night wasn't as wild as they have been in the past so I guess that took away from the performers that night but  that's the chance you take with live performances. So the show goes on at WWT, would I go again probably but I'll give it some time before I dip my toe in the water again.

Tues and Thurs they have price specials too, i think one night is college night and one night is ladies night, so thats pretty nice too..

The improv actors at this place are AWESOME- too funny to justify it with words. If you are into the SNL/Mad TV type of comedy, this theatre company is 100 times better!

Be prepared to laugh your arse off,  I'm mean your most embarassing gut busting laughs- because the actors are very on point.  Oh yeah, and they encourage you yell out what you want to do do!

There is really cool pop art in the lobby that is worth checking out as well.  I know I can't wait untill I go back!

Whole World Theater is a whole lotta fun.  I have been there three times and had a blast each time.  One downer is that it becomes predictable after you have seen it the first time.  A lot of the celebrity impersonations were repeated which was a let down.  Regardless there has been a new cast each time and always a great crowd.  They run specials all the time so be sure to sign up for the E-Blast on their website to get the best deals.  I defintely recommend this place if you are looking for something new and different to do in Atlanta.

This place is cheap and fun! Ladies are free Thurs night! The best shows are on the weekend, and cost a little bit more. If you are looking for a relaxed atmostphere and a good laugh, go here.

I love this place.  If you like improv this is a great little community theater that doesn't feel comercialized (cough, cough ... like second city).

If you are on a tight budget then the 1/2 price night (Tuesday I think) is a good time to go.

Parking can be scarce so go early and have some drinks at the bar.  The best parking is in the tiny lot behind the building but make sure you are in a proper parking spot and pay because the @$$hole$ running the parking lots will tow/boot you.

Enjoy!

I can't say I've actually been to their venue, but I saw these guys last night at Improv In The Park and they were HILARIOUS. They had their teen group perform as the opening act and they were just as funny as the pros.

Now....I would throw up if I had to get up there in front of all of those people and act funny on the spot, but - these guys did it no sweat. We were rolling on our blankets laughing so hard!

I am definitely going to check this place out now that I've seen what great comedic skills they've got!

What to do, what to do on a late summer Thursday night???? Huummm.... A friend of mine suggested improve comedy and The Whole World Theatre! (it's not a typo, they spell it this way) Great idea!

It was my first time being there and has now become my new FAVORITE! thing to do. The environment it self is utterly entertaining with with the walls being expertly decorated with paintings and renderings of super hero's, creatively decorated skulls and a brilliant array of bold and striking colors that provoke an intimate yet swank casual feeling.
I liked this place the minute I walked in as the room was open and easy to navigate to the restroom and bar. The lady at the front desk selling tickets was wildly entertaining the minute I approached the desk as she had my date and I laughing already. Ticket prices at the door, day of the show are 3 dollars more then if you buy on line so definitely say visit the web site FIRST! to buy your tickets.
I had heard from other ATL-YELPERS (shout out!) that Thursdays were ladies night (ladies get in free of course) but was surprised when the girl at the desk told me $18 dollars for the 2 of us. Of course I asked "are there any specials tonight?" and she replied "yes, but she (my date) has to tell me what it is!" So be sure to ASK if there are any specials or better yet, tell the ladies in your party/group to ask if there are any specials. That way you get the discount. You can also sign up on their web site for the "email blast" and they will send you discount coupons and codes to get the money off admission.

Go early to have a drink or 4. Better yet, buy a bucket of mixed beers to start having a good time before the show. The lounge area (as mentioned above) is a great place to hang out with friends before the fun starts. Beer, plus (+) improve comedy, equals (=) a dam good time.

The show it self was brilliant! I love how the MC keeps the audience inter-acting with the direction of the show. Any time a group of drinkers are asked to blurt out scenarios and thoughts, you are guaranteed a hodge-podge (official word use there) of ideas which makes for great comedy. Tuesdays and Thursdays are the apprentice actors and it was easy to see they were all very talented. I can't wait to see the main stage actors on Friday's and Saturday's. I'm sure I will be in for a high caliber show. =)
Just because the show is over, doesn't mean the fun stops there. I highly suggest hanging out after the show to have a drink with the actors/actress's. I promise they will have you rolling!
I could go on and on with this review but as it is, this is already way long.
My over all review:
Whole World Theatre gets 2 "enormous" thumbs up PLUS!!!
5 stars (a very prestigious! acclaim.)

Things I didn't like: Paying for parking was a bit of a pain so be
sure you have 4 singles on you.

I love this place like crazy.  I take classes here, and it's the best investment in myself that I've made since college.  It's a fabulous way to meet really great friends and be encouraged to act ridiculous.  The shows are fabulously entertaining and are sure to cheer you up after a hard day of work.  Thursday nights are free for ladies, and there are usually discounts on the website.  Niiiice.

Great experience! My husband's company had their holiday party here and WWT was very accommodating. We had about 20 people and many of us had never been. We were in for a treat. We had a blast. The beer flowed quickly, the staff were all nice and the improv was hilarious. I left thinking, "we've gotta come here more often." So yeah, great place for a date and a group of friend. Enjoy!

Going to WWT was such a fun experience for me! I love how the performers actually take the time to write down ideas from the audience & incorporate them into the actual show later on. The host works to ensure that the audience feels comfortable and included in the show by constantly asking for ideas for skits. It's a great place to go whether you go with friends, a date, maybe even your parents..!! Sit back, have a drink (or two or more, I suppose?), and just enjoy some quality improv.

I can't say how hard I laughed!  This place had my face hurting from laughing so hard.  The only down fall of the place is the parking in that area.  It's not the most pleasant place of Atlanta, but I guess they can't control everything!  I would highly suggest this place for a couple's night out or even a group.

It has been a few months since I've been here, but if you enjoy improv comedy, the WWT is a great place to go.  The building is a little small and shabby, but you get huge top-notch laughs.  The prices are also reasonable.  You sit in a small stadium-seating room looking down on a small stage.  The host introduces general scenarios and ask for the audience to give ideas on how they should pan out.  The improv comics then act out the scenes.  The scenes are hilarious because some audience members come up with crazy ideas.  I believe some of the ideas are generated as a result of the bucket of beers you can buy at the bar.  You will enjoy it beginning with the introduction from the host until you leave.

I've been three times and two performances were hilarious while one fell a bit flat - I guess that's the danger of all improv!  But, I recommend it frequently, and will definitely visit again.

I went to this place once and was not impressed. If you go to an improv night I would check out Dad's Garage first. I see below that Emily and Five A. fell off their chairs rolling so maybe I need to go with one of them to get another prospective.
