I'm not a big BBQ person, but I have to say, this place makes great BBQ.  Unlike a lot of the stuff you'll find in the south, it's not too sweet and not too heavy.

There are a wide variety of sauces to choose from, and they're all pretty good; most people will find one or two that are their favorites.  Prices are very reasonable: portions are large without being disgustingly so.  The sides are also good.

I can't complain about this place, I can only think of a single BBQ place I've found in the U.S. that would beat this place.

I'm from Massachusetts and was in Little Rock on business, and I knew that if I was going to be in the South I'd have to eat some BBQ. This place was awesome. I had a half rack of ribs with beans and potato salad. The ribs were perfect, and the food came out extremely fast. I could have ate here the whole trip.

Awesome BBQ! Whole Hog is my favorite BBQ place in Little Rock. Rendezvous in Memphis has nothing on Whole Hog. :)

I lived in Little Rock for five years and ate at Whole Hog countless times.  It is damn good and eirily consistent.  Ribs, chicken, and pork are all pitch perfect.  The potato salad is so good it hurts to eat it.  The only miss is the beef brisket, which they clearly have no idea how to prepare.

Overall this id as good as BBQ gets in Little Rock.

The best BBQ in Little Rock. Would have given them 5 stars but I visited the West Little Rock location and it was not nearly as good as the original location (the meat was dry).  Don't miss the potato salad.

Jump'n Jeepers BATMAN!

I know that when it comes to BBQ, everyone has their favorite styles, favorite sauces, and their favorite joints.  It can be become something of a holy war for the true BBQ aficionados.

I was in Little Rock on business a short time back.  I was walking around one day randomly asking people where to go to get some damn good Southern BBQ...  (Thank you Little Rock locals for being nice and helpful - I am from San Diego, CA)

Out of the 8 or so folks that I polled,  7 told me go to the Whole Hog Cafe, I was sold, I was there.  I was not disappointed.  I ate myself well past the point of full, well past the point of gluttony... I ate myself to the point of wondering if this wouldn't be such a bad way to die... Yes, it was "that" good.

I really can't comment too much on the sides and I really didn't pay attention.  The sauces had excellent flavor but none of them were that hot and spicy.

If you love pork and if you love BBQ, then you will surely love this place.

With that said, Oakland, CA, has some damn good BBQ places in its own right.  Check out Flint's.

Whole Hog has incredibly delicious and lean pork and beef. The chicken is excellent. Vegetarians can get a baked potato there. This place is great.

Best BBQ in Little Rock, AR.  I loved their 6 sauces (sticky, oozing delights that fill the senses with sweet, mustard, vinegary, etc.), which accompany each table.

I am a rib gal, and my platter was excellent.  My guy loved his beef brisket - he said it was the best he's ever had.

Great, smoky goodness on a bun! I had the pulled pork sandwich platter, which included cole slaw on the sandwich and sides of potato salad and beans.  Yum!! The meat was tender, but held together well with the #3 sauce (spicy).  The potato salad was excellent and the beans were okay.

This is not the best location for a restaurant (in a strip mall), but the food overcomes any objections.  The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I've been to BBQ heaven at Rudy's in San Antonio.

I enjoy WHC because out of all the bbq's I frequent, I know when I hit the door I will get my moneys worth.  A jumbo is a jumbo, not a regular bun with a extra half oz of meat. The potato salad is to die for, if you like a mayo version.  When you place your order you will have it in less than 5 minutes depending on how long the line is even at lunch.

When visitors are here that is one of the first places I offer to take them when they want good southern BBQ.

Whole Hog is always one of the first places I go to when I'm back in Little Rock. When you walk in, you immediately know you are in a legit BBQ mecca. There are trophies everywhere, and you find a very large, tall, and prestigious trophy right before you get ready to order: A Memphis in May World Championship. Folks, those are earned in direct competition against the best BBQers anywhere in the world. Whole Hog's ribs are simply the best...ANYWHERE! Always tender with an incredible sweet basting that serves as a great compliment to the hickory flavor from when they cook 'em.

Major props on the pulled pork as well-absolutely fantastic. Moist, tender, and very high quality. What about the sauce-that's what really separates the men from the boys, right? Well, Whole Hog is world class in this critical BBQ category as well. When you sit down you will have six outstanding options on the table. I highly recommend the #6 Old South sauce, the Carolina sauce (#4), and the traditional (#2) sauces. Whole Hog is definitely the best of Arkansas, and I would bet on these guys beating anyone from Texas, Memphis, or Kansas City in a straight-up BBQ contest.

Without wanting to be hit by hot sauce bottles being thrown at me, I'll try and stay ducked beneath my table. I'll start by saying that BBQ in the South is a religion.  When you win Memphis in May, as The Whole Hog has done, then you are a God. I recently went there with some friends who left Louisiana during Gustav. They wanted to experience true Southern BBQ, and that involves PORK only, so I took them to The Whole Hog. I have had their BBQ many times at  competitions and they had always been one of the best.  This visit to the 'main house' was not what I was expecting. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich and man was I was less than impressed. The slaw comes on the sandwich if you dont otherwise tell them on the side. That is what kept me from giving them a 5 star rating. Being one who knows that a pulled pork sandwich just isnt a true BBQ sandwich w/o slaw on it, I left it on the sandwich. Well, that was the mistake. I remembered their slaw to be good so I kept it on the sandwich. Well, this slaw was bitter and salty. After one bite I removed it from the sandwich and had a very good pulled pork sandwich but it just wasnt the same as I had remembered.

Their many arsenals of sauce is a bit much for me, As a purist, I like two to choose from. I will say this. Their beans are the best I have ever had. WOW, I am still trying to replicate what I experienced that day.

The drink fountain was a hit to Cooper. He is my friends 8 y/o son and a typical cajun from Thibodaux, La.  He returned to the table with his drink and I noticed that it was kinda of a weird color so I asked him, "What are you drinking?" He replied in his cajun/coonass accent. "A suicide." I knew what he meant but it brought me back to when I was a kid and we called them "rainbows." You know the drink when you put some of every drink together. Ahhh, to be taken back to my childhood but only to have  an innocent name being replaced by something so, so modern.

If you want some of the best BBQ ever, then visit The Whole Hog Cafe just ask for the slaw on the side. Taste it and if it is good, then slap it on your sandwich and experience the BBQ South.

Oh god. Saucy Pork. Mmmmm. Whole Hog is to die for. Despite it being anything but rustic and original (its in a strip mall and populated by mostly suits in the lunchtime hour), you take your first bite and can taste  smoky, deliciousness.

They'll put the meat on a plate, on a bun, or even in a potato. All three ways are fantastic.

Its even better with the beer that they have on tap.

6 normal sauces, 1 volcano sauce which is supposed to be super spicy, but I was disappointed.

All in all, incredible. If not for heart disease, i'd be a fixture at this place not unlike the neon pig sign.

Yummmm!  Chicken, ribs, sausage, and brisket were rockin' good.  The sauces were delicious- loved the number 3 with the chicken and my husband thought the number 4 sauce was perfect on the brisket...he wants a bowl of that sauce and a loaf of bread to sop it up with.  A yummy, quick little stop on the way back to Texas!

THE BEST BBQ!  Everything is great and lightning fast service even with the busy lunch crowd from local businesses.
