I never really knew that a WFM was just off of York Road.
When in need of a some high quality stuff............we are coming here!
While prices can be a bit high as compared to other stores..............the choices and quality here are superb.
Fun to just walk around the store and see the various offerings.
Wifey usually cooks so it was a rare occasion for us to pick up some prepared foods. Got some sausage and peppers (fantastic). Got some kale also and some mac and cheese.
Also picked up some unique root beers and some ginger beers. Fun to drink high class sparkling beverages!
Several employees asked if we need assistance............No thanks just walking around checking everything out!
Will be back before Christmas to stock up on the goods tuff -

Not one of the better Whole Foods I've been to. Parking situation was very tight and you have to be careful turning in off of Odgen during rush hour. Thank god they give you the driveway option to go through the residential Bob O Link drive as a shortcut from traffic. Rather small, disorganized layout. Beer is in 2 different areas with the 12 oz. packs in the cheese area and bombers on the grocery shelf. Constantly moving out of the way for customers got annoying during my visit.
Nearby Willowbrook Whole Foods is much better. -

Love love love this location....
It's always clean and every employee greets you as they see you!! Everyone is eager to assist you and they are knowledgeable about the store's products. If they don't know, they will find someone that does know. They are very well verse on the products in the area in which they work, even more so to make better suggestions on something you might need to try vs. what you thought you wanted.
I am always happy when I walk in, even if I was in a bad mood when I got out my vehicle. I have a hug smile on my face and feel healthier just for having made my purchases.
With my new lifestyle of eating and health regimine, Whole Foods offers so many things I can add to my pantry, snack bag and refrigerator1 Previous Review:

Fabulous store energy and staff.
Love the whole roasted chicken for 5.99 on Tuesday and
love when they have their massage therapist Loni in for chair massage. Loni has been there like forever and knows customers by first name. It's pretty funny to sit and watch while I have lunch. It's like she is the unofficial greeter. -

Mmmm....Whole Foods. When I want to shop here it's just like the conversation I have with myself when I go clothes shopping. "Hmm, I need a new outfit for work. Oooh, and Banana Republic has a new cashmere turtleneck for winter. Yeah....I'll just go to Target.....". My husband and I did serious damage in here once, walking away with about $250 in groceries. Oh man, it's too easy to spend money here. But everything is so goooooooood. Just, everything. The wine and cheese department is naturally my favorite. I have never seen so many varieties of cheese in one building. Heaven for someone like me. I mean, it's Whole Foods for the love of God....what could be bad? The parking lot sucks though.....

Pricey but well worth it. Great for lunch. They offer fresh sushi, pizza, an assortment of hot foods, and a large salad bar.

I really love this sushi and the staff here. If you are going to have take-out sushi, it is cheaper than take out from local sushi restaurants, plus they have a decent variety. The sushi chef is almost always at the counter, smiling and saying hello, and asking if I need any suggestions of something that isn't out.
The flowers are always very fresh. I bought tulips here that lasted 2 weeks (at home I kept on changing the water and cutting them). Having worked in a flower shop when I was younger, I know that tulips can quickly die. Plus on Mother's Day they even have a staff member who wraps the flowers in a pretty wrapping for no extra charge.
They have a huge cheese selection and the staff always has samples or offers some to try. They actually ask questions to find out what types of cheese I like or am looking to serve it with.
This store doesn't have as wide of a variety of a salad bar as the Willowbrook location, but this one is closer for me and I don't really use the salad bar. The salad bar does have a nice variety of soups such as the corn and poblano chowder or the tomato basil. -

I was originally going to give this Whole Foods 4 stars simply because I keep going back, and I do like it, but I will go with 3 (rounding down from around 3.5)
I like the quality of the food, the energy of the building, and the beauty of some of the more unique items that they offer.
The salad and hot food bars, while good quality, feel very limited in selection.
I would get the sushi but this above all seems entirely too expensive for pre-packaged food.
I've found the staff generally to be helpful and friendly although I've had moments with (inexperienced?) checkout clerks that made me frustrated, but this happens anywhere I suppose.
Bottom line- Whole Foods offers quality food and a quality corporate personality that I like, and that I continue to puchase, despite being generally underwhelmed by the price and limited variety of certain items. -

Rude store manager. Doesn't know how to run a grocery store. If you have a problem in this store he will just blow you off and/or call the police on you. I have seen him do it to a friend of mine. The store is not stocked properly. I have been there every week for years and it is always something they are out of stock on that I like to buy. I am thinking about changing locations. Just this week I bought sushi at their deli counter and it was not fresh. I ended up throwing it out cuz the fish was pasty.

For the few of you who have not shopped here, what are you waiting for? Wait, what's that you say, a pay raise?? Yeah well they don't call it Whole Paycheck for nothing.... But when you need that special ingredient for a recipe that you can't find anywhere else, this is the place to go. Also even though expensive, they have great produce, hands down the best looking and tasting organic outside your local farmers market. Also don't be afraid to eat a meal from the deli. I really have never had anything bad... Today my choices were delicious... Spinach empanada and roasted brussel sprouts... Get there early, I'm told the brussel sprouts usually sell out early everyday!

I still love you. I swear!
You've won me back with a fresh supply of veggie paninis for the past 4 Thursdays. My tears dried when you told me you had a grilled vegetable pizza coming out of the oven in 2 minutes. Then I began to cry again at how nice it was for you to tell me.
I love these kinds of relationships. Whole Foods, you provide some drama in my otherwise dull life. Please, keep torturing me. Don't let this flame die.

This is my home store now since I have moved to Oak Brook. It's smaller than the Naperville one and Schaumburg one, but it's still nice and they have everything I need when I come here... Original Almond Milk, Chocolate Almond Milk, fresh chicken and pork and barley. I don't mind paying a little more when the workers and staff are more caring and nicer here. I always get asked if I am finding everything okay. I never feel like I am bothering someone when I need to know where an item is. The checkout gals know me and my baby girl... they do see us about twice a week :) Ashley is our favorite checkout girl, she's awesome and super friendly and efficient. I love buying flowers here, they are always fresh and about the open and they last for over a week. The Whole Foods on 63rd in Willowbrook is bigger, but for some reason doesn't carry as many flowers as Hinsdale does. The staff here makes shopping here very enjoyable and me likey ;o)
Umm yeah and free wifi for my iphone and ipad (yes i carry it around sometimes if I know I am going to stop somewhere to sit and read) .. BONUS!! -

I love the products at Whole Foods. Although this location is much smaller than other WF's I've visited, it still is browse-worthy and still offers shoppers great choices and friendly service. In this case, smaller does seem better as it has more of a local neighborhood feel to it.
A favorite area to browse is the cheese and wine section. I always find something new that I want to try. I was hosting a tapas party and really wanted to keep the theme Spanish. The folks at the cheese counter were so helpful with their descriptions of the Spanish products and of course there were samples to taste. Over in the wine section, there were bottles of sangria (red, white or rose') and a great Vinho Verde (ok, technically Portuguese, but I needed a good summer white wine). And their running special is 10% off your wine purchase when you buy 6 or more bottles. AND a nice reusable carrying bag to boot!
The deli and prepared foods display is always worth a linger as well. The food is fresh/well-prepared and the folks at that counter will offer you samples if you cannot decide on what to get.
Some great recent finds: Spanish olive oil (ok, I'm obsessed), ginger root beer (naturally sweetened by the stevia plant), chocolate almond milk, beet and fennel salad. As others mentioned, it can be a bit pricey to shop here all the time, but so worth it sometimes for something special.Listed in: I do cook! Really, I do!, Find me in the Food Court

This used to be a Wild Oats Market so it has a smaller footprint than other Whole Foods. The egress from this store to Ogden is not very convenient due to the highway being nearby. The later you go, the better chance you have of getting out.
The aisles are a little narrower and it has a very elongated feel. The selection is slightly reduced but they often have items in stock when the Willowbrook one is out (Argo Tea flavors, Horizon milk flavors, etc.). The staff is quite friendly and are in the aisles to help you out. My main issue with the store is the layout and reduced selection overall. If you go to one half of the store, getting to the other side take a little bit longer since the aisles are longer. -

They've got really good food. Although their salad bar is pretty limited, they've got an OK selection. I mean, it's a grocery store after all. The staff is wonderful as well. I love this location, and I can't stay away.

Good luck finding parking here on the weekends. Holy mother - it's busy. Especially when you have soccer mom's driving Hummers and Range Rovers that are too big and they can't operate them. Anyway....
Everyone here is always super friendly and helpful. I'm in love with the bulk food section. It's way cheap, unique food items and you can get exactly the amount you need.
I also love the signs that say where the produce came from. Illinois, Michigan, Iowa, Wisconsin....it's cool to see where it comes from and you know you are supporting more locally grown foods. -

This is the smallest whole foods I've been to....so far.
The one thing I came for, they didn't have. Nevertheless, I managed to buy $20 worth of goods (not hard to do @ Whole Foods). The store was well organized and clean, with very friendly employees at every corner. I really really wish they had the vitakitty cat treats in stock, the main reason for my trip. It wasn't a wast of time though. I managed to get a ball of pizza dough, some cleaning supplies, and other necessities. -

I have high standards because I remember shopping at the real locations in Boulder and throughout CO They have very few vegan baked goods, their deli case is disappointing for the vegan/veget shoppers. The store is quite small and not stocked with many products.
Now that Whole Foods has bought them out, they probably will be even worse, or bring the Boulder locations down to this level.
This is out of the way for products you can get at about 10 other stores, much closer to home.
I traveled out here the first time because I was so stoked to see a Wild Oats in IL - I was not impressed.
Subsequent visits have been because I am in the area and need to a snack to nosh. -

We are huge Whole Foods Fans! Unfortunately we moved over the weekend and were VERY disappointed with our new local Whole Foods location. While we recognize that the Hinsdale location is a smaller Whole Foods Store, we find the condition of the salad bar and hot food bar unacceceptable. We came on 2 different occasions. The first on Saturday evening around 5:30 and then again yesterday around 3pm. The food was old. On Saturday evening I tried the beef with the sauerkraut which was ok and the corn pudding. Then I went to the salad and picked up the tongs for the tomatoes and there was a peice of hair on them (this was laying in the tomatoes) I handed it to someone in prepared foods, the hair still entact and he was just going to give me another tong. I kindly informed him---that after the hair, I wasn't really feeling the tomatoes. Common sense would say, pull the tomatoes and AT LEAST wash them! On Sunday when I came back the corn pudding looked like corn mush and there wasn't anything that look remotely edible. One other issue I see is that they incorporate a lot of dips that don't really make sense on the hot bar. Spinach dip and taco dip, but no chips or anything else to eat with it which doesn't make sense. If you want to offer this to people not eating in your store, package it and sell it on the shelf. There comes a time, when food sits there on a steam table and continues to cook and get old--that is inedible. Just because you can get someone to buy it, doesn't mean you should sell it. My husband, who is usually pretty tolerate---got a pizza on Sunday and said we are never going back and I totally agree. He would rather eat at Jewels....which says A LOT! Shame on you Hinsdale Whole Foods----you should know better! PS--parking lot is too crowded....

My husband went into bleak depression when he heard Whole Foods was buying out Wild Oats. He remembers fondly the Fresh Fields days, prior to Whole Foods making them suck also. We made the journey so he could buy a bunch of the Wild Oats brand items while they were available. I guess if you're a vegetarian, they're quite good. Or so I'm told. Okay, I have tried the salsa, it's fine enough for jar salsa.
I don't mind either store, but then again, I'm not a health food fanatic. As my husband stalks the organic whatevers, I head straight for the bakery. Their baked goods are very, very good and can be bought by the piece as to not overindulge. And of course they wouldn't be made with fake ingredients or preservatives...tsk, tsk! Just butter, cream, chocolate. You know what I'm talking about.
Skip the Starbucks next door and have a sit down in the mini-restaurant with a coffee or specialy tea and your favorite cookie. You won't mind what your partner spends on whatever that other stuff is. Oh, and that potentially will be quite a lot of cash. Three small bags of organic crap, $100. One cookie and some quiet time, priceless. -

Booh, my first ever BAD Whole Foods experience! (and I've done a lot of shopping at a lot of Whole Foods stores)
Once, when shopping at the Hinsdale Whole Foods, a staff member showed me how to read the little price tags on their aisles to determine how many items you had to buy for a case discount. Basically, there is a tiny number in the middle right of the tag. He was showing me in context of Bota boxes of wine, where the number for a case discount is 3.
Since then, I typically buy 3 Bota boxes at a time, to get the discount, which lasts me for quite a while. Last week, I was in the Hinsdale Whole Foods, purchased 3 boxes, and asked for the case discount at check-out. The woman said it wouldn't ring up, and asked if I'd like to speak to the shift leader. I said yes, and the other girl came over and called several people around the store, all of whom said I had to buy 6 boxes to get the discount. I explained to them that the 6 rule is for bottles of wine, and that I knew the Bota boxes only required 3 from several past experiences. In the end, they refused to give me the discount. After my fiance and I paid, I ran back to check the price tag, and sure enough it said THREE. I walked the shift leader back there and showed her the tag, but 2 other employees came up and said "no, it's 6." She refused to give me the discount, even though it was labeled how I thought on the price tag, and said she had never heard of it being 3. Even if they had changed their policy, then she should have known about the change and updated their price tags.
I will not be back to the Hinsdale Whole Foods, even if I'm driving right past it... not with so many better locations in the Chicago area. -

What a nice little grocery store! As a Southern Californian native, all thing small and convenient amazes me. Boxy stores on busy streets are so common that little stores with little parking lots in little neighborhoods intrigue me sooo much. Even seeing California-grown oranges being sold in Hinsdale, IL is amazing to me, too! I'm so intrigued by little things, I know. I came by to get some groceries and milk for a 3-day stay. Would have gotten the bananas, but they were all so green and would probably not ripe as fast in this type of weather. Boo!

Who doesn't love Whole Foods right? They have the best, most interesting selection and everything tastes fresh and awesome (even their processed frozen foods, who knew?!)
So you're asking why did I only give 4 stars and not five stars? This particular location in Hinsdale is a little too small for me. The parking lot is ALWAYS packed and the aisles are generally crowded with happy shoppers - so, it makes me wonder why they can't expand and offer more selection. They have the smallest Whole Foods salad bar I have ever seen, and the salad bar always offers the same exact food. I wish they would spice it up a bit, or maybe I don't because it will be guarantee that I'll go broke and gain 50 pounds all at once.
But, that is my only complaint!
The prepared sushi here is awesome! It is always fresh and the sushi chef is always all smiles while I peruse his selections of the day.
All the Whole Foods team members are awesome actually, They always ask if I need help. They are always smiling, seriously what kind of benefits to Whole Foods employees get - free food for life, happy drug session before work, or is it the awesome empowerment they get of working in such a great haven for food lovers?
BEST selection of Gluten Free food!
Having a party? You have got to have Whole Foods cater. Some of my favorites include their crab cakes, crowd pleasing wraps, teriyaki wings, quesidillas, fried mac and cheese and omg their Cakes are to DIE for. really.
Okay, I'm starving now! Thank god this place has great hours (8 a.m. to 10 p.m. everyday) to satisfy my love of shopping here! -
Review from Tina T.
Wild Oats is a decent specialty grocery store specializing in organic and natural homeopathic products. However, I do believe that Whole Foods, in comparison, is way better than Wild Oats. So if you are looking for an organic product and this location works for you, you'll definitely find great organic products and baked and prepared goods. However, if you can make it to a Whole Foods, I think you'll get a much better selection of produce; and their fish and meat counters are much more extensive than Wild Oats, as well as their baked goods and deli area. One thing that Wild Oats does have over Whole Foods is a more extensive natural care area; but in terms of groceries, I think you'll do better at Whole Foods!

I have always loved going into this store since I was a little girl and my mom would take us to Hinsdale to look at all the big houses and window shop! Even though it is called Whole Foods now, it is still exactly the same inside. A huge selection of organic fruits and vegetables, a station to make your own peanut and, I think, almond butter. An AWESOME cheese and beer/wine selection and my favorite part...they carry Callebaut chocolate pellets which make my famous chocolate chip recipe that much better! YUM!! And they sell them for cheaper then I have seen them other places, surprisingly, since this store is on the expensive side. I just can't say enough about this place...it's one of my faves!

Went here on Saturday and man is it expensive. But I only go once in a while so I don't mind. I love walking through this store and finding new things to try. I got some Soy milk for my mom and she loved it. Their produce is always fresh, I like getting their ground beef here, it just LOOKS good. They have a massive selection of wine. I can't help but buy a reusable bag everytime I come in here. If you want Organic, this is the place to go!

Love the deli. I've had so many excellent carry-out lunches from them - great soup, sandwiches, and microwavable burritos to die for. Excellent selection of natural foods with the corresponding pricetag, but it's the grocer you want if organic is a priority. Nice size, not so huge that you wait in the checkout all day.

*groan* I have fallen in love with Whole Foods. I know it tends to be more expensive than other grocery stores, but I keep my eye on the prices, and if I know I can get it cheaper elsewhere, I will. I get a lot of gluten free items here--they have a nice selection of flours and mixes. There is an aisle with a collection of gluten free items, but if you meander through the other aisles, they have gluten free items in nearly every aisle--spices/cooking supplies, pasta, pretzels, cookies/crackers. The prices on the gluten free stuff isn't too bad, either--a little more than non gluten free, but that's to be expected. I found some strawberries here, 2/$6, and one of them was the size of my fist! Really! So there are great deals to be found, and also good prices. And don't forget to check out the bulk grains, rice, lentils, beans and such!

This is my local Whole Foods after being used to the River Forest location. I have to say I am sold on Hinsdale Whole Foods! It is bigger and less congested than River Forests location and the lines are never as long. I will happily take it.
The customer service is great here too. Recently I somehow dropped a bottle of beer and broke it, beer and glass all over the floor by the cheese counter. Uh-oh. The staff was so nice about and their main concern was if I had gotten any glass in my shoes. I felt like an idiot but they did their best to make me feel okay.
they have a great selection of body products here and I often leave with at least one new bar of soap to try. I like to buy my produce here when farmer's markets or my garden aren't available. When we buy fish and meat I prefer to get it here as well. And their Taco Dip is my weakness.
One suggestion I have is for Whole Foods to expand it's bulk section because it is pretty weak as is right now. Being able to buy foods in bulk is not only helpful for me to only buy what I need but is a much more environmentally friendly way to purchase goods. -
Review from Jojo F.
I used to shop at this location when it was a Wild Oats Market (my pre-Yelp days). I preferred Wild Oats because they carried similar items to Whole Foods and at most times, they were priced competitively. So the dish on this location? Great service team. I was hosting a party at my house and stopped by and bought chocolates, nuts, cheeses, yummy party fare. All good. I had to subtract a star for a few dozen shelf items that were expired (over 6 months!). Convenient to I-294/I-88!

An amazing place. I feel like a kid in a candy store, but with a personal debit card it can be more dangerous! Great selection of products, I always have to try to limit myself when shopping there, next time I should just be chaperoned by a personal accountant :). The staff is extremely considerate and polite! This, unfortunately, does not help me, i just want to buy more and support the place as much as I can. haha

I'm conflicted. I love of Whole Foods unique brands and tons of organic food but it's just too expensive, dammit! Last week I went there just to pick up a few things to get me through the week (without having a full blown grocery trip) and spent $80 bucks!!! Wowza, man! I was like "damn, how much do these avocados cost!" Just kidding, it wasn't the avocados, it was the beauty section that sucked me in once again and FORCED me to buy Mineral Fusion makeup which I had heard so much about and can only purchase at Whole Foods. So as I come out of my coma in the checkout line I look down at 3 avocados, 4 cans of diced tomatoes (which I had coupons for) and 2 items from Mineral Fusion...CHA-CHING! $80 buckaroos. This is definitely not my Trader Joe's experience. Don't get me wrong, I love whole foods but I just can't afford it - so back to my lovely and pocket-friendly Trader Joe's I go. On occasion you will find me wondering the aisles, eating guacamole (until one of the employees gives me a dirty look for eating way more than a samples worth and rounding the table multiple times), and twirling down the beauty isle sampling everything in site.
