Love love LOVE this park! I was here for many different occasions, such as dates, professional photo shoots, sister/family bonding time, re-evaluating myself time/alone time, etc. I've experienced lots of emotions at this park. The lake enhanced my emotions ten times more! when i was happy, I'd look at the lake and be more amused. When I was crying alone, I'd look into the lake and feel more alone.
One thing I hate - too many people, too many ugly infection-infested duckies attacking each other.
Gorgeous park, especially for sunsets.
You're surrounded by water and you will feel like you're in a movie.
My favorite part about the park is the water falls next to the pond that you can swim in! well not really swim but its like mini pond with a mini waterfall that you can dip your feet in. When i was there a lot of kids were like sitting in the middle of it splashing and what not.
Ive never seen a park like this before =)
Its not everyday that I step foot in a park. So yea......I'd have to go out and say this is the biggest park I have ever stepped foot in. The green grass seemed endless. The trees were tall and beautiful.
Great place to play a game of soccer, baseball, and football. It depends where you park. I parked closer to Rosemead Blvd so all I saw were open fields.
6 of us, including myself played the game of football here. Definitely a nice field, but there were a few pot holes here and there and a few wet spots you did not want to slip on.
Two hours later, the field was still brightly lit at 10pm. A nosebleed from a hit, a few bruises, and a lot of cuts later, we decide to call it quits. I was exhausted and my body was on the verge of collapsing. WHERE IS THE WATER FOUNTAINS?! I could not find any in our area, BUT i did not look hard enough either so whatever.
I do not look forward to how my body is going to react to all the abuse taken tomorrow. I am walking with a limp right now and a cane would probably be nice right now. Definitely a fan of this place when my gym membership expires. Great place to enjoy nature and have a good work out.

My aerobics class got cancelled for the week so I had 2 options ether:
1. Be a fat ass and yelp all afternoon OR
2. Drag myself to a nearby park and pretend to run
So I HATE going to legg lake but its the closest thing to a running track therefore i drove over there only to find trash and broken plastic egg shells that the pigs left behind over the Easter weekend. Yay!
Whenever this park is my last option for a workout, i usually go "under cover". I wear big sunglasses, hat, and my ipod full blast so I don't bump into any unwanted individuals (been there, done that, awkward.)
Careful not to step on duck poop and if you decide to take a stroll on weekends be prepared to fork over some cash for parking and to witness Quinceañeras and classy brides having their photo sessions next to the boat rentals.

At the Whittier Narrows we organize since 2006 our annual Run 4 Hope and since 2007 the Ride 4 Hope. In September we work together with this Park to make sure our event becomes a great success. The park allows us to have our food-tents, canopies for the crowd, a big stage with live entertainment, a kids play area with jumpers and game booths, our Kiddie K, 5K and 10K race and not to forget the riders with their Harley's.
This park has been great for us, perfect for the runners and big enough to have our event. The park workers are very helpful and we are looking forward to do it all over again in September '09.

This park is great if you are trying to spice out your work out, to take the kids(DURING THE DAY, this is S. EL MONTE!!)
SURE, there's lots of ducks and duck poop, also lots of trash because people can't see the MANY trash cans posted everywhere, but it's really great to run around in, so many trails, I don't think I've ever been bored. I usually take my baby on Saturdays or Sundays, and just run the edge of the park on a weekday, any day. It's a long trail, you can unwind, and since everyone is usually there for the same thing, you don't have to worry about looking good.
I wish people would throw the trash in the containers, though, tax money wasted if you ask me.

This is a very picturesque park at times you may have to squint your eyes but hey that's what happens after a long hot weekend. There's LOTS of ducks and geese there. They have a long path around the lakes for biking or jogging. A handful of playground skattered throughout the park. Some people fish there and there always seems to have enough tables/benches. There are so many shady trees and even a little waterfall. Only visit if you LOVE Mexican Americans.

Great park for disc golf.
great for all kinds of things. out door sporting, fishing, horse riding, shooting, archery.
some girls say yelp is creepy. some say yelp is a high school. if your high school had no jocks, and was plentiful of all the other kinds of guys, it would be creepy too.
so active life not only makes you healthier, happier, but also less creepy. spend some time in your local parks!

This park is HUGE. My co-worker and I have been going walking after work. There are so many trails, you never walk the same way twice. I also can't get over how many people there are. People fishing, playing, making out. Its a plethora of activity. There are ducks, geese, turtles, all kind of wild life. I think you can also rent bikes and paddle boats.
The only downfall for me is the freaking traffic! I work in the area but live nowhere near here. The 60 freeway at 5p is a beast! But if you live out that was I definitely suggest you giving it a try.

This park has a lot of different dirt/sand paths that are great for jogging. The scenery is really nice, too. There are a few ponds and even some really large geese roaming around.
They also have some exercise equipment around the paths that you can use. I didn't see a lot of playgrounds for kids - just some playground equipment along the path.
There are lots of trees so there is plenty of shade for when it's hot and sunny.

I live in Temple City and was looking for a good place to go trail running. I hate running on concrete and asphalt and I wanted to find a local place for some good running on a soft surface. Although I like to drive to the San Gabriel mountains to do some very scenic trail runs, they are kind of far away and I was looking for something closer to home.
Although there are several parks that make up Whittier Narrows, the one I found the best for trail running was the Nature Center. There are a lot of trails and you can even run through every park with the use of the trails. It is not that hilly and there is also a long bike trail that you can use when you get tired of running on dirt. Even on the weekends, it is not that crowded and the people who are there are very friendly. This is a great running course, probably the best in all of El Monte.

thanks to sam y. for exposing me to disc golf! it was fun! http://static.px.yelp.... i think my throwing arm is sore right now....
the park is pretty damn big. we did a lot of walking. watch out for flying discs and couples getting frisky under the trees. there's an ice cream cart guy walking around which was very helpful in cooling us down.
avoid throwing your disc in the fenced area... you'll end up like this... http://static.px.yelp....
