I've heard of white castle from the Harold and Kumar movie so we decided to give it a try! As I entered, I saw that the menu was posted along with the price and calories for each item. I decided to get the jalapeno cheese burger which came out to less than a buck! It was pretty small, but I only wanted a snack, so that was satisfying.

At first I didn't understand where the jalapenos were, but I realized that I it was because it was the cheese slice, which was "jalapeno cheese." The teeny tiny burger was about 180 calories.... so I'm glad I just had one! I think the quality of the food was ok, but not amazing. The patty was nothing spectacular as expected of a fast food joint. In my opinion, I actually would rather eat a burger from Wendy's. At least I tried it once!

Possibly the originator of  " The Slider "  but since they are now everywhere, at least in NYC, and more tasty than White Castle ones I would suggest only trying the original, for trying sake, and then go elsewhere.

This particular store is also not very fast at getting you your food and there is also a question of cleanliness.

We were  just thinking about White Castle because we saw one of he actors from Harold & Kumar go to White Castle on the TV. We decided to see where a White Castle was. Lo' and behold, NYC has them. We were going to NYC for Halloween anyway, so we decided to make it one of our stops. The hubs is from Cali and I'm from the DC area, so we only had White Castle fresh from the grocer's freezer.

Since it was before 6AM (thank you White Castle, for being open 24 hours), we shared the #1 which is 4 sliders w/cheese and fries. We loved the cute little boxes, complete with little jokes/funny things printed on the bottom of them.

Anyway, the fries were crinkled and good enough. They weren't crisp and were fatter than I'd have liked if they aren't crispy. The burgers were definitely better than when I've microwaved those bad boys. They were decent thin fast food burgers. Did they rock my world? No. Did they taste like REAL/homemade burgers? No, but I'd eat them again if I was in the area and needed something to eat.

FYI, I loved that NYC puts the calories on the board. How disturbing. I also loved the random drunk kid who was in the joint. Other than that, the other peeps there were really friendly. Gotta love that before 6 in the morning.

White Castle was a definite joint I wanted to check out while in NY. We have In N Out, they have White Castle. I was excited to get my hands on their yummy hamburgers. The closest thing I can get to this is the prefrozen kind at the markets.

We got the #1 which came with 4 hamburgers, fries, and a drink. The hamburgers were absolutely delicious minus the single pickle it came with. The bread was so soft my fingers made imprints on them while holding it. The diced onions gave it great flavor and that bit of crunch.

I'm definitely going to stop by one more time before I leave. I'm salivating at the mouth just thinking about it! They're open 24 hours which is friggin' cool!

I was on the east coast, so I had to eat some White Castle. Plus, I had to get the nasty taste of Gray's Papaya out of my mouth.

That's what she said!

Bad joke aside, I had three cheeseburgers sliders, fries, and a coke. It was solid. But I knew it would have tasted better had I drank all day or smoked a fat joint. Not that I would ever do the latter. I would never risk burning my smooth hands by trying to get the most out of a roach.

In the end, White Castle was made for stoners.

Or maybe even drunks.

Take it for what it is.

Well..I guess I should've smoked a joint first.  I don't understand how Harold and Kumar craved this?  You need to have a bad case of the munchies to want to eat this stuff.  There are so many fine dining options in the city that are open late.  Do you really want to eat imitation meat and fake cheese? Heck, Mcdonald's burgers seem like 5-star meals compared to White Castle.

Service was 1.5 out of 5 stars.  Atmosphere 2 out of 5 stars.  The wait time for the meal was way longer than I expected.

I try to be a food elitest. Really, I do. So I naturally don't eat fast food, and I obviously look with disdain upon anyone who does.

I drink, though. Do you see where I'm going with this?

So I'm out drinking one night at The Blue Donkey. It's about 3:45 AM. There's a guy with a White Castle bag. He's talking about how great White Castle is. In talking to him, I mention that I've never been. (They don't have White Castle where I'm from.)

The guy immediately offers me a burger. I would never take food from a random stranger at a bar. ...if I were even remotely sober, but I'm at The Blue Donkey at 3:45 AM.  So I totally try the burger, and it's the single greatest thing ever.  I insist on buying the guy a drink to repay him.  He tries explaining to me that his drink costs about six times what a White Castle burger costs, but I'm too drunk to really grasp that.  So we agree to a compromise.  I'll buy him a drink, and he'll give me the one remaining White Castle burger.  We make the exchange, both feeling bad because we think we've cheated the other.  (The second burger was every bit as good as the first.)

Fast forward to present day.  I hadn't reviewed White Castle based on that experience, because I've found that I like a lot of food when I'm drunk.  So I visited White Castle sober, and it's still pretty fantastic, maybe not the single greatest thing ever, but pretty fantastic.

...and by the way, I was able to buy a four burger meal with fries and a Coke for roughly what it cost me to buy the guy's drink at The Blue Donkey.

After my friend and I watch the movie White Castle we had to see what all the fuss was about with the burgers. We both worked at airlines so we decided to take a trip to NYC just to try these mini burgers. We've been to NYC many times but this time we totally got lost and it took us 2 hrs to locate this place. After walking around Manhattan we discovered White Castle. We ordered the burgers and they came in little cute boxes. My first bite i couldn't understand what all the rave was about. It didn't taste like anything out of the ordinary other than its size. Overall I was not impressed.

I have never tried white castle, a friend and I were discussing how we'd never tried it but were interested. We are not snobs, I have enjoyed a good meal at BK or Mcdonalds, I dont eat that everyday but I have place in my heart (stomach) for this type of food.
Back to the context of the story, we were meant to go to another place for lunch but decided to share a combo here just to try it. First of all going in, the place had a really sad and depressing aura, it was were dreams, rainbows and happiness died. It wasnt the other people in the establishment or the staff that gave it this aura, it was the lighting maybe? the decor? I dont know. The staff was extremely nice and upbeat for fast food, the food I personally thought was awful. The beef in the burgers seemed uncooked, and the chicken fries were too dry. I really enjoyed the concept though, the cute mini burgers and the interesting sides. The execution just wasnt there, or maybe this location in particular is bad. Thankfully it did not ruin our appetite for our main lunch plan.

We hail from the land of In-N-Out, where White Castle only exists in your neighborhood grocer's freezer, or briefly as a promo for a stoner movie. Being our first trip to New York (not to mention the east coast in general) we HAD to visit a White Castle. We were shocked to discover that only one existed in Manhattan. Us two native Californians braved an 80 degree drop in temperature in the middle of January and painfully trekked our way to the castle.

We expected something magical. We forgot it was just another fast food place. What we found was a hole in the wall miniature Burger King.

The posted nutrition facts were interesting and something hardly found in Southern California. As my girlfriend puts it, knowing just how BAD this junk is for you is almost enough to deter you -- but we were on a mission! We ordered a decent sized combo of coronary artery disease and got down on the biggest ratio of grease to food I've ever seen (next to Pizza Hut).

I really can't comment much else on the food. Fast food will always be fast food, but we'll still always remember you, White Castle. Especially you, crazy bum that spent 10 minutes banging on the locked restroom door, cussing at the poor pubescent occupant inside. I heart NY indeed.

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.... Quoted by EB Browning.

I know she was talking about White Castle.

I had the crave and made the inglorious train ride to nitty gritty Port Authority after work. The "Harold Lee" in me (If Beyonce can be Sasha Fierce, I can be Harold) became a petulant bastard; yelling and plowing through all the dimwitted tourists in the area just to satisfy the crave.

Number 2 please (2 double cheeseburgers with fries and a medium drink), uhm... but make that a double jalapeno cheeseburger... oh... and add an apple pie.... Cash or credit? No time for cash, swipe the credit card... hurry... grumble, grumble. Listen to the beef patties sizzle.... Come-on.... speed it up!... Your order is ready Sir....

Mike, be cool.... just walk to the table, sit down and relax. Take off the suit jacket, loosen that tie... Savor the the precious moments you have with these babies... Travesty... the luscious burgers and fries have been inhaled... Resist the urge to get another... Panic mode.... grab the credit card... Another double jalapeno cheeseburger please...

30 mins later...

Stomach aching... but it was well worth it...

Did I ever mention the White Castle "Surf and Turf"???? Not on the menu you say?  Ahhhh... Only true Cravers know....

White castle is another one of those amazing late night snacks, but nothing that should be consumed sober. I will have to admit that I had 3 sliders for dinner one night because my friend insisted on eating there, and I felt sick for at least a good hour. Low quality meat with cheese, but it has a surprisingly good sauce. Just way too much grease to handle.

2 stars as a sober meal/snack and 3 stars as a late night snack. Anything greasy takes good late at night.

This is the most disgusting White Castle I've ever been to, and I've been to many a White Castle.  I debated as to whether being the most disgusting White Castle could ironically justify a 5-star review rather than a 1-star review, so I decided to award the average of 3-stars.

The first thing that strikes you about this place is how filthy it generally is, with overflowing garbage cans and tables that appear to never be cleaned during the course of daily business.  Another interesting aspect about this location is that it seems to be a magnet for panhandlers and bums.

Most importantly, this is the only White Castle in Manhattan from downtown to midtown.  Thus, it is the only place to get your White Castle fix when "the crave" for 140 calorie, 7 grams of fat miniature burgers strikes.

When I used to work in Tribeca, we'd actually send someone all the way up here to get about a billion little burgers for everyone for lunch.  Then the traders would force a recent college grad to eat White Castle burgers until he threw up, and everyone would gamble on the over/under as well as the exact number of burgers consumed before he would spew.  This game was played on several occasions, the jackpot usually hit $1500-$2000, and if you're curious, it usually took about 20 or 22 burgers before the "end" of the game.

After watching Harold and Kumar years ago my time has finally come as of today August 1, 2009 around 12ish in the afternoon I have finally experienced white castle at this location. I ordered a number 3 10 sliders with 2 fries and 2 21oz soda for $10 for me and my friend. Once we got the food the sliders were soggy. The fries are standard and plain. It is edible. There probably is a better white castle location than this spot because the location is ghetto! After we have consumed this food it will give you the BG's for reals so prepare to stop by the rest room after an hour or so haha!

Yup.. tourist from Cali also.  I spotted the white castle next door to Gray's Papaya and was drawn in.

Having lived in NYC and the south before, I've had White Castle and Krystal's mini burgers before (of which I would say Krystal's are better by a slight margin), but there's no doubt that White Castle has benefited a lot from it's cameo appearance in Harold & Kumar.  These burgers probably taste amazing when you're as stoned as those two were... so good that you'll go to the ends of the earth for it, but when you're sober, they're just all right.  If you're touring NYC and are borderline about making this a food stop, i'd definitely have some other places to recommend.  But hey, if you have to be like Harold and Kumar, by all means, go ahead.

Fries here are really good.  They're crinkle-cut and quite crispy.  They also serve them hotter than their burgers, which came out rather lukewarm for me.  Their meats are only steamed, after all.  It makes them just a bit better than the ones you microwave at home.

I have to say that I love me some White Castle cheeseburgers!  It's DELISH!  There were 6 of us and we ordered the 20 burgers with 4 drinks and 4 fries.  We decided to do 10 regular burgers and 10 cheeseburgers.  Each burger came in it's own little cubby box and it was WARM.  YUM-MO!  Soft and warm!  I only ate 2 because we just had a papaya dog from Gray's Papaya.  I think I could of had 2 more but I didn't want to push it.  Anyways, my bf was able to chow down 6 of them. I think he wanted to eat more but again it was late and we already had the hot dog.

The fries were ok.  I prefer thin cut fries like McD's or BK.  I dipped my fries in the tartar sauce and sweet mustard provided as condiments.  That made it better.

When are we getting White Castles in the WEST side???

Now I can say I've eaten at an actual restaurant, but I can also say that there really isn't a difference between these ones and the frozen ones I can get at Costco in Los Angeles.. White Castle was a block next to Gray's Papaya, so I had to try it.. even after I had a few hot dogs and a drink.  I was anxious to see what the hype was all about, especially after watching Harold and Kumar!

This location was a little ghetto. Not sure if other White Castle's look like a plain, small fast food burger joint, but this is definitely the impression I got. The burgers were small and thin, yet tasty. I've tried the frozen burgers before and the fresh ones didn't taste much different. I guess I expected more.  I eventually came back one more time and ordered a meal.. also tried their bbq pulled pork burger, which was good. The fries are alright. It easily takes 2 - 3 bites to eat a burger. 1 if you didn't mind stuffing your mouth.

So living in the west coast all my life White Castle the only thing I knew about White Castle was that Harold and Kumar were willing to ride a cheetah to get to it, which was good enough for me to want to go out of my way on my visit to NY to try it.

I got 8 cheeseburger sliders, 2 fries, and a soda - and overall the burgers definitely tasted better then they looked and better then most fast food burgers although the patties were the thinnest patties I've ever seen - which would explain why everyone was ordering 4-12 burgers. Now that I'm back in Cali if I had to do it all over again I would have wanted to try some of the other items on the menu (such as the chicken/fish slider and the onion/chicken rings) but its definately worth trying once for those on the west coast.

Well, White Castle is famous from the John Cho/Kal Penn movie, but it certainly is an acceptable late-night snack. Greasy, small, smooth, and soft, the burgers are plain but certainly have a knack for tastiness with the butter and grilled onions to top it off. You can get the standard snack pack of 30, too.

Not a fan of the fries, but a sack of onion rings usually works out well.

For a late-night, greasy stop by Penn Station, this is the place to go.

For those looking for a little more healthy, avoid at all costs.

Inside, a bit dirty, and the bathrooms are locked - ask for the key at the desk. If you want ice in your iced tea, you have to get it first before they put the ice tea in.

Bonus - open 24-7.

Like previous few posts, I'm from California trying out White Castle because of Harold & Kumar, mostly. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy it as the others did. No I wouldn't travel hella far for it again, or consider it "fairy jizz" (epic quote from John C., btw).

I mean yes it is steamed and soft and easy to eat and digest, but is it really delicious? Not to me nor my friends. We thought it was pretty overrated. Everything tasted plain, including the fries. It was cheap, but it should be since the sliders were about half the size or smaller of a regular burger at other joints.

I'm glad I ate at Kat's & Five Guys on my trip, or else I would have come home as a failure and would have nothing to argue against the Cali sheeple who say In-N-Out burgers are the best

First off, I made two significant mistakes when I came here to eat which severely hampered my enjoyment:

1) I was sober.
2) I didn't bring my Indian buddy (How cliche is that joke now in these reviews? I'm sorry.  No I'm not.  It's a great movie).

The sliders tasted fine.  They are mini burgers with mini onions.  Cool.
My complaint is the way the grease sponged bun and meat patty made my mouth and heart feel afterwards.  Picture a cute fluffy smiling white baby seal pup hanging out on the ice and then imagine it being brutally ambushed by an Exxon oil spill.  The poor sad faced seal gooped in a gelatinous film of tarry black oil.  Now put the seal in your mouth and swallow it.  Did that make any sense?

I skipped taking the subway back home.  If I was going to have a heart attack, I was going to have it under the canopy of buildings belonging to the City That Never Sleeps and not underground next to a stale puddle of urine.

Why did Harold and Kumar have to go to White Castle?  Why couldn't they go to Carl's Junior, Taco Bell, Burger King, or even Jack in the Box (which we all know to be a pothead's haven)?  But no, they had to go to White Castle.  Which made this California kid crave White Castle, which really got built up in my mind, despite what everyone was telling me, and which ultimately let to my great letdown.

So on Halloween night, after all the ghouls and goons had gone to bed, I made the pilgrimage that I have been waiting to make since I got to this city.  I stood in line with all the other scary people out at 3am, and I ordered a bunch of tiny burgers, some regular sized fries, and a regular sized drink.

The fries were not crispy, not crunchy, but simply limp.  The burgers were flavorless, completely flavorless.  And despite tiny buns accompanying those tiny patties, the buns were still too much and overpowered the flavorless tastelessness thing I was eating.  The drink was standard, though probably a bit watered down.

Boo White Castle, boo.

Strangely enough, White Castle may have been the restuarant I most eagerly anticipated visiting after moving to NYC.  I practically grew up on Krystals and wanted to see how the northern counterpart stacked up.

The restuarant was clean and fairly well-kept.  Service was adequate.  The White Castles themselves though were disappointing.

These burgers were rather stale and tasteless compared to the steamy/soggy and salty taste of Krystals.  I suppose they'll do until I head back home for a visit but I was really hoping to enjoy these.  I had heard folks say White Castles are better than Krystals but I guess it all depends on what you're used to. The fries were a little disappointing as well.

Being a tourist from Cali...this was one of the places I just had to visit.

As a first-timer, I had the sliders, fries and a drink.

The food was actually good.
The sliders are sooo cute. I actually felt good eating them even though they're fast food. The sliders were steamed and they seemed light (not because they were little) so I don't feel guilty eating them. :)

The crinkle cut fries were crispy...not disappointing.

The restaurant seemed small and almost easy to miss if you pass by.

I guess my tastes have really changed since I was younger.  When I spent my pre-teen years in Queens, NY, I remember that I'd always take White Castle over McD's or BK.  After moving to Cali, I sorely missed White Castle.  I even bought the frozen ones at Safeway one time, but it wasn't the same.

Even though I travelled to the East Coast a number of times, I never made it to a White Castle.  I finally hit one up in Manhattan during a biz trip a few years ago.  It wasn't bad, but it certainly wasn't memorable.

On my last trip to NY a couple of weeks ago, we went to a White Castle and a group of us shared a dozen mini-burgers.  Although I saw the burgers cooked on the grill, they didn't taste as fresh as I would've liked, probably a bit too greasy.  In addition, the smallness of the restaurant and the feeling of uncleanliness did not invoke any of the good memories from my childhood.

I'll probably pass on White Castle on my next trip to NY before all of the good memories are wiped away.

So are you scarred to poop.... A LOT? Than maybe avoid this place...

Poop is the first thing that comes to mind when WC is mentioned even though the food is... MmmmMM... I like this location, they let me feel like they care about getting my order right, as much as fast food workers are capable of caring about anything that is... This makes the perfect post night drinking wrap-up... I get the cheeseburgers without pickles and onions... I am not sure why I like the flavor of onions, but I like ordering things to need to be made at the moment's notice... You also got to get your order with a sack of fries... I love these crinkley, mushy pieces of potatoes... I also sometimes order the chicken sandwich with cheese (not the chicken ring sandwich, not as good).... Order extra... these babies stay in the fridge for a while well until you can resist them and you are done pooping the next day, but just bring some cool reading material in the bathroom and suffer it is worth it =)

*Also worth mentioning is the yummy WC Breakfast ordered, cheap and yummo,,,

Since I've watched 'Harold and Kumar' I've always been craving for White Castle.
It's one of my 'must eat" in East coast. of course.
Oh gosh.... It's soooo good. beyond my imagination.

To be honest with you, In-n-out tastes way better . But for me, living in west coast, White castle is more than a burger. It's all about what I've craved.

so I'm satisfied no matter what.

I'm giving this my first 5 star review, solely based on the back story.

It's my last night in NY.  I'm hanging out with a friend of mine, having a couple of drinks at a bar in the west vill.  It's crazy late and I haven't had anything to eat, so I say "Man, I'm hungry, let's go get something to eat."

My first thought of food was a street meat cart on 6th and 56th, right outside the Hilton.  All you new yorkers know which one I mean.  So we hop in a cab, tell the driver our destination and we're on our way.

It was only a couple of blocks when I glanced at our driver's medallion and I couldn't help but laugh.  So I nudge my friend and say in a whisper, "psst....check out this guys name!!" and immediately we start to laugh.  Not in a loud comedy club way, but just a kinda hahaha way.  So I turn to my buddy and say "you wanna go there instead?"  His response, "hell yeah!"  So I turn to the cab driver and say "Hey Kumar, can you take us to the White Castle on 8th and 35th!?" and his response "No problem my friend!"  Wahahahahahahahahahahaahaha.

So we arrive at White Castle in style, driven by Kumar nonetheless, pay our fare, get out of the cab, and just laugh for the next 5 minutes.  You can't get better than that right?

After a solid eating of many delicious, delectable burgers, we couldn't finish the crave case we purchased.  (It's a cardboard briefcase full of 30 burgers)  We did our best, but lost the fight.  The remaining burgers were packed up and we headed out the door.

Overall, one of the best nights I've had in the city.  Would definitely make the trip out there again just to relive the memories!

So I had just completed grabbing a quick bite at Gray's Papaya, and low and behold, I see the sign from afar, and immediately I think to myself, "White Castle in downtown... I gots to grab a burger".

I love me these small little sliders.  The meat is moist, the burgers are soft and the entire cheeseburgers are little tiny mouthfuls of joy.

I don't care that it may not be the best or healthy... I mean really, we only live one, and we might as well enjoy our food creation to the fullest.

It's not  on the official menu, but White Castle's Surf and Turf is a double cheeseburger with a fillet of fish in the center--ask for both tartar and hot sauce plus extra katsup. Get drunk and eat one before you die, but don't eat two or you will.

OK to be perfectly honest I don't see what all the hype's about. Being from the West Coast the only thing that comes close to having White Castle is going to our local grocery store and buying the frozen brand. I thought my first time here a couple months ago was uninspiring and I felt so again when I came back. Now for me the craze began with Harold & Kumar go to White Castle. Before that I have never even heard what kinda joint this place was. Since this is the only one in close range to Times Square my friend and I decided to check this place out. When we got there we arrived to see a nice small fast food joint that wasn't too busy at all.

After looking at the suspect prices we just decided to order the cheeseburgers along with fries and a drink and that all came decently fast. However in my opinion the fries were soggy and bland and the "sliders" were really nothing to rave about. It's like any other slider I have had in the past and really don't think there's anything special about them even with a movie based on the chain. Maybe that why they're based in the mid-west, east coast? All I have to say is that the other options such as the fish nibblers and the clam strips are the way to go. If you can overlook the fact that they are indeed deep fried, you will be satisfied knowing that at least you are eating some seafood. The clam strips were not over cooked and along with the tartar sauce made it a nice side to the overly salty burgers and friends. The fish however was the best thing here. Even for a fast food joint the fish tasted fresh, and it never had too much seasoning or too much grease. It was refreshing to finish the meal with something that felt a little more healthy. Will I come back here again? Sure. But would I come back to the East Coast just for this? No. Just like everyone else from the West Coast, I prefer In and Out any day of the week.

Four stars because the serving lady was so nice.  Yes you heard me nice in NYC! Extra napkins and ketchup.

Hey I'm easy to impress :)

Of course the burgers are bite size and great.  What else could you ask for.  This place had a movie made for it afterall!

Tastes better really late at night.  If you're confused just order a combo and a shake.. you can't go wrong.

Relatively cheap to boot.

This rating is not based on those tasty little burgers because, since I'm from California, it'd be an easy 4-5 stars. No, this review is based on my first experience in a White Castle, which included a bum who was asking everyone in the place for a burger. We sat there trying to enjoy our 20-pack / 4 fries meal with awesome tasting tea in a big Family Guy cup. We were hoping he wouldn't walk by us, but eventually he did. Since we were already struggling eating 10 of our 20 burgers I handed the guy one pack of fries because we clearly weren't going to get to them. He touched our arms (gross) as he said thanks. As he walked away, he turned around, said "God bless you, I'm gon' take a picture", held two fingers up to his eye (like scissors), and in a scissor-cutting motion, he said "Click". Umm, you're welcome?

Full from 10 burgers and relieved that he was gone, we decided to take these back to our hotel near Broadway. Walking along Times Square, fellow tourists saw our bags and asked us "Where did you get White Castle?" I'd tell them where it was with full confidence, like I knew where I was going. We clearly underestimated the ability for these burgers to make us full. That whole day we ate our leftover burgers. At least we saved money on food that day.

It's cool that this place is open 24/7, but I can't imagine the types that are here during the late hours.

I've wanted to try White Castle ever since I saw *that* movie back in the UK.  There had to be something magical inside them buns to inspire a movie!

Sadly White Castle isn't exactly a national chain and as I live in Northern California we never seemed to be in the same place at the same time.  So when I found myself recently in New York I made a beeline to the nearest White Castle to see what the fuss was about.

I took a sack of four, sat down with my fountain soda (Diet Dr. Pepper!!!!) and munched my way through the intriguing little Slyders.  The burgers are tiny and square with four little holes in, they are cooked on the grill en masse and then the buns are put on top.  Steam escapes through the holes in the burgers and the onions and buns are steam cooked.

The net result at first seems a rather unattractive, slightly soggy mess but there is something magical about the way the bun delicately flavours itself with onion & pickle from the steam.  I finished the first not quite sure what to make of it but by the time I had munched my way through half of my crinkle-cut fries I was already craving #2.  Then #3, then #4!

I almost ordered another sack but decided to save myself for a slice of pizza later haha.  It mostly lived up to the hype and I'm now back on the left coast and i've been rudely cut off.  The ignomy of it. :)

My first visit while vacationing, my fabulous cousin brought me here for breakfast.  Yes, I wanted to make this my first stop as soon as I got off the red eye.

For about $11, we got 2-#1 combos consisting of 4 burgers, crinkle fries and a drink.  We mixed it up and got half with cheese and did one as onion rings.  While the taste did remind me of the frozen section of Target, these were noticeably tastier.

I took a swig of their sweet tea and found it too strong for my buds.  The little boxes for their burgers is nifty for keeping product intact (I am amused easily enough).  I was intrigued by the messages inscribed in them, "By removing a space 'sack of ten'  becomes 'sack often'.  Kind of makes you think".  Perhaps they are the anti-I-N-O?  No John 3:16 here.

There is a great deal of security inside the joint, but you would never know unless there was a vagrant.  We were fortunate enough to have one in our presence.  In the middle of our meal, a man walks in and plops himself on a chair in the corner closest to us and does nothing.  Just loitering by his lonesome.  Minutes later, a BOOMING voice instructs him to leave the store.  I totally thought I was either hearing things, or that something was going down outside.  I look around to notice an overhead camera acting like TPTB, which was fine by me.  Again, the Wizard commanded the man to leave.  He did eventually.  It made me feel good.

The one disappointment was that they forgot to remove the pickles as we had requested.  Mind you we were the only party there at 8:30am on a Saturday.

I liked the fact it was reasonably accessible from the subway, and it was the closest one to Times Square (where we were staying).  I would visit there again.

Okay, so as many times I've been to NYC I barely had my first taste of this place. Maybe it was just too late to actually taste my food...? or maybe it was the creepy guy I was with who just loved this place?? I didn't like it. I missed my in--n-out!!!!

3 stars purely on the basis that its a white castle, and that's not something I often have the chance to go to ... and I love me some white castle.

That being said, this has been the absolute worst white castle I've ever been to, every time I end up here (about once every few years when I'm in the area).  Yet when the booze is in full effect, I always come back for more.
