I saw Rufus Wainwright at the Sunoco Perfomance Theater the other week; the sound was great and I love how intimate it is inside. Definitely a neat place to see shows. It's beautiful inside when all the lights are turned down except for around the balconies and on the stage!
I've only been to one show in the IMAX theater. Is it just me, or is it weirdly cramped and small for being IMAX?
The museum is fun. The bodies exhibit last year was neat, albeit disappointingly small for the admission price. They also have a pretty cool gift shop!

Sunoco Performance Theatre review:
Great place to see a show. Great sound, great sightlines. Seen many concerts here and always had a great experience.
Great addition to the city, I really enjoy the IMAX theater, science exhibits, galleries, and shows that the Whitaker Center brings in. I recently saw the bodies exhibit here and it was amazing, I would recommend it to everyone.
The science galleries and exhibits aren't just for kids either, you'll find yourself pleasantly entertained with all educational activities in the place. I recommend you check it out for yourself.
Ever wanted to find out your chances of having AIDS, watch an IMAX movie about geese, write your name backward into a mirror, and see a short play about the wind all in one day?
Chances are you haven't. However, these are among the many enjoyable activities at the Whitaker Center located downtown in Strawberry Square.
I've been to Whitaker Center twice, both times for work and the first statement I must make is that KIDS LOVE THIS PLACE. Not just science nerd kids, or artsy kids, or "good" kids - all kids. The worst of the worst still LOVE it.
There are so many hands on exhibits for everyone to enjoy. Sometimes kids can't get the full meaning out of them, but they love playing with the gadgets, and when you're there you can sort of force feed them the information about the exhibits too.
The staff is amazing. They really go out of their way to make sure everyone gets the full interactive experience and gets to see everything they want to see.
For example, the first time I was there with my kids (work kids, not like biological fruit of my loins kids), a group of them was interested in a cockroach they had on display. The exhibitor allowed them to hold it while she told them about other cockroaches they had at the museum. Before all the kids had held the cockroach, one of the staff members was going to the entymological room to obtain a pregnant cockroach that the kids expressed interest in.
On other occasions they have had chocolate covered bugs, interesting plays, and little demonstrations and shows on exhibits.
Right outside of the museum is a wind tunnel machine. For a nominal fee (I can't recall how much) you can feel what it's like to be in the center of a hurricane. I didn't get to try this because I was with my campers, but it looks pretty awesome.
The only thing I didn't like about the Whitaker Center was the way the administration/management treated our group. A lot of their business relies on groups of school age children. They pushed us into a tiny basement room for lunch (no tables or chairs, which was ok because we're used to eating on the ground, but the room was so small and they knew we had in excess of 60 kids). They were very rude and uninformative about our schedule for the day. And then, because our kids were "bad" they threatened not to invite us back next year.
Overall, the Whitaker Center is a pretty nice place, great exhibits, IMAX, and a Starbucks right next to their gift shop. I just wish I could spit on some of the managers there.

I've only been to the Sunoco Performance Theatre, I went and saw Earl David Reed here last august. He was the main act, but jen shade and Nipsy where there too. although 105.7 is kind of the music I like, I dont listen to it, at all. But still Mr. Reed was pretty hilarious. Im not a huge fan of stand up comedy, but if you have a chance to see him, please do. The Whitaker center has free admission like twice a year, usually on holidays.

This is strictly a review for the IMAX:
Went to see I Am Legend on IMAX (supposedly), turns out they didn't use the whole screen when the actual movie played, it was middle 1/3 of the screen which the movie was displayed on- obviously not true IMAX. Pretty misleading and the visual awe was just not there as it is with real IMAX movies. With that said, the Dark Legend preview WAS in full IMAX mode and it looked amazing. Who knows why there was discrepency. But it felt like a waste of $13 to watch a regular sized movie on a IMAX screen.

Excellent place for a unique date, as many of the exhibits are made for two people. A please touch science museum which is kid-friendly.
There's also an Imax theater here which show science shows, as well as feature films. Fun!
