I went to whirlyball last week with coworkers for a team outing. It was an excellent idea, since it's somewhat physical and extremely competitive, but normal athleticism counts for nothing in a bumper car. By the next day, a bunch of whiners were complaining about bruises around their waists from the seatbelts, but whatever.

The one thing I didn't like was the slashing rule. In my opinion, you should be able to slash the ball carrier's scoop with your scoop as hard as you want, as long as you only hit the scoop. The rules weren't exactly clear on this. I never got called for a penalty for slashing, but other people did. I'd talk to the ref before hand to be lax on this.

Two hours would be the perfect amount of time to rent a court if you were playing about half of the time. A few drinks might not hurt either.

When it comes to Whirlyball you either love it or you hate, I love it. Who doesn't like bumper cars? Who doesn't like crazy made up hybrid games (basketball and lacrosse)? The natural next step is combining them and to all those who hate this activity you are just upset because you spent the whole time trying to learn to steer.

Our bachelor party showed up and even guys in their late-20s and early 30s left complaining about bruises and bumps from the game.  Suck it up!  Whirlyball is the sh*t.  If you haven't played it, you need to.

Make sure you play after a few drinks.  It makes things interesting.  The only complaint about the game itself?  They need to have some rules or figure something out to make "fore-checking" easier.  When the ball get smashed between the car and the wall, it's a pain in the ass for anyone to get it out of there.

I'd love to give them Five-Stars, but you get screwed out of money if you don't use every single minute of your allotted time-slot.  We had a bachelor party there and people trickled in and they seemed lax on getting us ready to go and we started late.  Unfortunately we only received 4, 20 minute games in (80 minutes) in our 120 minute time-slot and we had to pay for the whole thing, not games played.  Needless to say, some people were pretty pissed off about that.  A manager did offer to toss us a few games of laser tag, but we declined.  We'd rather throw balls at each other and smash things.  It's all good.  We'll be going again.

Driving around and crashing into people can be fun.....in a bumper car. This game is like a combo of lacrosse and basketball. Fun stuff!  It definitely got my adrenaline going (I tend to get competitive with this sort of stuff.) This place also offers laser tag, a bar, bags, pool and food. I played some bags when i went and went down over to whirlyball. There are only 10 bumper cars available though so if you come with a group of more than 10, then you'll have to switch off after games.

Bad part about this is that you have to be very careful because this game can be violent. In order to control the bumper car direction, you have a handle that you turn rather than a wheel. I crashed full speed into the wall and the handle was in a bad spot and hit my knee really hard (and I already have bad knees to begin with!), so that was really painful. It happened 3 times to the same knee too :( .But I still continued to play despite the pain.

All in all, it's good fun! my whole group loved it.

a place that has a bar AND bumper cars = one fun night.
however, slamming into walls at full speed while TRYING to play whirlyball leaves bruises that will be evident for a week.
a good time overall. i came with a group of 8, and everyone wanted to come back again.
