We use to hang out on Whidbey Island every weekend. Our Friends family has a 10 acre estate. So when ever we visit her we make it a fun weekend. And Wine tasting at the local wineries is always a winner.

This is one of our favorite wineries. As they grow some of the vines for the wines here. $2 tasting fee for 5 wines is a great deal. They have a local house cat that roams around the tasting room. He always rubs against all the customers legs.

I picked up 2 wines here today for dinner.
A lychee tasting white wine that goes great with seafood.
And a cabernet sauvignon for bbq chickens and ribs.

We spent a good 40 to 60 minutes here.

Great start to a wonderful weekend.

Whidbey Island Winery is on the main hwy to Langley. The tasting room is on the grounds of the vineyard making it easy to find. Pun intended, it was a tasteful tasting room. There were a couple of other groups already at the tasting bar when we arrived. Pleasant atmosphere, a friendly server. Usual trinkets for sale, scattered among their wines.

There's probably a dozen and a half different wines they produce, mostly in small lots aimed at the wine club. They make several of their white wines from grapes grown on the estate. The red wines are made from sourced grapes bought from eastern Washington. Of the reds I tasted, I was most satisfied with their Sangiovese and bought some. I had skipped the whites (something has to give when you are on a multi-stop winery tour).

There's just something romantic about tasting fabulous wine while actually viewing the vines that some of the grapes you're drinking grew on!  Maybe it's my love affair with wine that makes me feel this way and in Western WA, we don't usually get this opportunity.

Instead we are forced to envision such vines while tasting in an industrial park surrounded by the barrels and wine making implements.  It's still nice, we are spoiled here, don't get me wrong!  Many of those Woodinville tasting rooms are terrific but this is just a completely different experience.

The tasting room is a cozy little house-like building surrounded by lush vines and fruit trees.  There is a seating area alongside of it including picnic tables should you want to have a little lunch to go with your vino and view!

We had a great time talking about pooches with ours in tow while tasting an excellent selection of whites and reds.  Besides those grown on the property, all other grapes used in their wines are WA grown.  The taste session is merely $2 per person and we tasted 5 different selections.  Many other wineries charge between $5-$10 to taste so this was very reasonable.

Although we honestly enjoyed all of them, a few stood out and had to come home with us.

The first was the Island White.  A blend of Madeleine Sylvaner and Madeleine Angevine, both grown in the vineyard we were viewing.  A very unique white that was smooth with a slightly sweet finish and had almost a muskiness to the tongue that was just heavenly!

The Rosato of which was a Washington Rose made up of Lemberger and Merlot.  This was a fabulous combination smooth and supple strawberry and cream like finish.  I can hardly wait for the next picnic for this to accompany us.

Composition, a Bordeaux style blend of 50% Cab, 45% Merlot, and 5% Cab Franc.  This was so incredibly smooth and rich with that great spicy bite at the end from the Franc.  Delish!

If you ever take a trip to Whidbey, this is a stop that just simply can't be missed or could even be a reason to go!  Trust me, I'll be using this as an excuse for a ferry ride again in the near future!  It's located just 10 mins from the ferry terminal, totally do-able!

This is such a cute little winery that I almost don't want to share it with anyone else! But, I will.

They do regular tastings every weekend in the afternoons, have a great selection of both reds & whites, and their bottle pricing is really affordable + you can get case discounts.

But the BEST thing is: they have a couple of picnic tables outside in a cozy meadow with a view of the vines - and they totally don't mind if you bring some food, buy some wine, and pop it open to have lunch RIGHT THERE. Highly recommended on a lazy summer day. :)

This place is beautiful! They have gorgeous gates that lead into the rows of grape vines, its really nice.

This was my boyfriend and I's first stop off the Clinton Ferry. We both did a wine tasting, we tried 3 whites and 2 reds.

It was $3 for the tasting... the wine maker poured us some great choices. We also LOVED all the wine accessories they had, at good prices too.

I would definitely recommend checking this place out!

I love this adorable winery. I came here with my mom because she lives right down the road and my husband and I ended up bringing six bottles back to California! The tasting fee is only $2 per person - who can argue with that - and the lady who helped us was extremely knowledgeable and taught us all about what we were tasting.

My favorites are the Cab Franc and Island White. We have yet to taste our Port that we bought, but my mom tried hers and said it was fabulous - not too sweet.

    We will definitely be back!

I love this winery. It's a great place to stop on your way to Langley to pick up a few bottles and only a few $ for a tasting. It's small, quaint with a family feel to it. I really liked some of their white wines... roussanne, seigerrebe, island white, etc. and some other specialty dessert wines.

We went to the winery because we were on Whidbey and figured, why not?  Let's at least try it.  But the wine turned out to be great!  Reasonably priced, too.  Especially recommended are the rose and the dolcetto.

(One tiny complaint - it was $2/person for the tasting, and normally wineries deduct the tasting fee from your total charge if you buy wine.  We bought 5 bottles, but they didn't take the tasting fee off the total.  Again, a tiny complaint - I totally recommend this place.)
