Review from Ash W.
San Francisco, CA
I have utilized Wheels and Deals both as a purchaser and as a seller. I have not ever had such simple, smooth transactions while selling vehicles in the past. I purchased my car (2000 civic) in 2008 from them once I had moved here from the Midwest. I saw it, test drove it, and made an offer. Less than an hour later, I was on my way and had already completed all the correct paperwork. I knew I had it right because the guys printed everything out and marked what I needed to sign.
In 2011 I decided to sell the same car, as I had bought a crappy truck to restore for fun. I, for some ridiculous reason, first tried to sell it on Craigslist. After two months of obscenely low offers and rearranging my schedule for test drives who were hours late, or didn't show I went back to Wheels and Deals. I dropped it off on a Saturday and had an offer by Sunday evening and it sold by Wednesday (took me a while to be able to head out there) for $200 more than my bottom line price. Once again they made it easy, had the forms ready, marked where to sign and I was on my way!
You do have to be reasonable when you price your car, just like selling it yourself. Their fees are completely reasonable for never again having to get into a car with another creepster or waiting for two hours for your test drive to show up. -

So we walk in to ask how their service works. We are told it is $99.00 a month and $298.00 fee upon sale of the vehicle. We were also given a couple of other prices for services which included detailing, smog and parking the vehicle in premium space.
They refused any written information. They provided no evidence of a contract or written agreement. They do not offer help for the buyer to find or obtain financing.
They provide no help with the sale paperwork.
Here's one..They carry no liability insurance whatsoever. If someone other than an employee becomes sick or injured on their lot, (either standing around or they trip and fall, whatever..) they stated they have absolutely no liability insurance.
Now, to be clear, I'm not talking about my auto insurance..
Here's the thing that really bothered me: When I asked whether they carry liability insurance for their business, the man behind the counter actually yelled at me.
I'm a nice person. I wasn't being difficult. I was just trying to understand how their process works.
We walked out and spared ourselves the mess this could have become.
Someone should tell their landlord about the insurance thing...Comment from Jerry F. of Wheels & Deals 10/28/2011

I have a good experience with this guys, I bought my first car there used Passat with 53ooo miles, and driving still, it's awesome, BUT the people there, how they talk, how they "understand" the question are terrible, probably I was funny asking weird questions, But I definitely didn't like this guys and the manners. YES, they do good job, BUT they do this ONLY for their purposes. They said if customer wants to buy he needs to call to the owners of the cars, BUT how come W&D stuff decide what price is the better? If customer renting space, why they deciding to sell car or not? I was there this Saturday, 1 year after I purchased my first car, and definitely customer service is the worst... Japanese guy (dealer) there neighbor so good with people, smiling, giving advice, but this guy are terrible....

I have to say I had a great experience with "Wheels and Deals". I had my car advertised in Craigslist for about a month and I only received one legitimate inquiry. That was disappointing!
I took my car to Wheels and Deals and my car sold in one day! I was impressed with how fast my car was put on their website and the help I received from Scott Rottman regarding the price, paperwork, process, etc...he was very helpful!
While waiting for my ride to pick me up, I was amazed at the amount of customers that were walking their premises. If I had to sell another car, I would definitely use Wheels and Deals again!
Thanks Scott and team, I appreciate your efforts!

Review from Nick D.
About 10-days after writing my initial review, I decided to actually put up my truck for sale with Wheels and Deals and it was sold today!
From a seller's perspective, if you are looking to sell your vehicle, W&D is really the way to go. Yes, you have to pay a monthly fee of $99...real estate is expensive in the Silicon Valley! But, it's worth it with all the foot traffic they get, not to mention, it'll be displayed on a secured lot, with cameras. You can also purchase some other options, not sure if it's a one-time or a monthly fee though.
But most importantly, selling your vehicle with W&D is much more safe than going the Craigslist route, as you have no idea who the heck might show up at your house, if they're just tire kickers, lookers, stalkers or what. With W&D, you'll have to field all the calls and you'll be talking to the ocassional low ballers but also the serious buyers who have looked at the car, test drove it, etc. Having the potential buyer check out the car before making an offer directly to you will save you so much time.
When all is said and done, there is a fee of $298 that's due to W&D. Think of it as a commission. I believe you can allow to have W&D sell your car outright, so don't have to go through all the phone calls, etc. but I think that fee might cost more, not sure.
The only reason why they lost one-star was because although they say they wash the vehicles every week, IMO, they simply rinsed off my truck, mostly because I noticed the initial "swirls" from my last car wash. Also, my truck was sitting in the same spot for 5-weeks. It would've been nice if they rearranged the vehicles, just so the inventory looks refreshed and the vehicle is started every so often.
TIP: Stop by the lot at least once a week or so just to see check on the vehicle.
Overall, if you're selling the car, Wheels and Deals is the way to go. If I had to sell another vehicle, I would definitely use them again.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Santa Clara, CA
We had a great experience selling our car at Wheels & Deals. We listed our car on Saturday and had four different callers by Sunday. We ended up selling the car within two weeks for a price we thought was fair. Plus no creepy craigslisters at our house!
The place gets a lot of traffic, especially on weekends, which I think helps a lot with getting car interest. Plus I love the business model, no slimy salespeople, and Bob and Jerry (and the other guy whose name I forget) were all very nice to deal with.
My only complaint, which isn't about Wheels & Deals, is that you still have to deal with lots of weird potential buyers. We had weird people, late people, and people who promised to show up who never did.
A suggestion to sellers: We dealt with two buyers who wanted to see the car for the first time AND then make an immediate deal with us, and it didn't work out for us either time. Save your personal time and make them try the car out FIRST before you come over to talk price. That's what you're paying Wheels & Deals for, to be a place for the buyer to see the car and test drive it up-front instead of you having to deal with it.
Great experience overall, we'll definitely sell our next car here too. -

These guys can help you sell a car fast for a fair price. From the time we walked in the door until the time we walked out with the payment for our 1997 Honda Accord was just five hours.
Wheels and Deals is a venue for "For Sale by Owner" automotive deals. They charge $99 for you to park your car on their lot for 30 days, and to list it for sale on more than a dozen different web sites. For the $99, they also periodically wash the car and they give the keys to prospective buyers who are allowed to start it up, but not drive it. They size up prospects and decide whether or not to offer an accompanied test drive. When they do accompany someone on a test drive, they charge you $25, or you can pay $75 for unlimited test drives. When the car sells, they collect an additional $298.
Because our car sold in just a few hours, they did not charge us for the two test drives, so our total selling costs were $397.
They also helped us decide on the selling price for the car, which in their opinion was exactly what I'd thought it should be from doing research on Edmunds, Kelly Blue Book, NADA, and other sites.
Although Wheels and Deals is in Santa Clara, people all over the Bay Area know about it. It's on El Camino Real, the main street in Santa Clara, but we got calls from people as far as 50 miles away.
Once the car sells, the friendly staff will help you with the paperwork to the degree you need help. You fill it out yourself, but they show you exactly what to fill out including what pertains to the buyer and what pertains to the seller.
Overall, this was a great experience, much better than selling on an online only service. -

I listed my convertible with Jerry on Thursday on a split proceeds contract. Since the forecast was 10 days of relentless rain and I am moving to Memphis in less than two weeks - I decided to sell it outright the following day.
I am very happy with the transaction and the service they provide. I would have kept the split deal if I hadn't needed surgery yesterday and was staying in Silicon Valley.
Jerry is very honest, professional and really knows marketing. A great place to sell or buy anything on wheels! -

We have known about Wheels and Deals for years and even had a friend that sold her car through them several years ago. After trying to sell our Volvo ourselves for about 6 months we were frustrated and knew we needed help. Scott and the whole crew were very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. They were confident that our car would sell quickly but after the 30 days we had only received 1 call on the car. Scott offered to have us leave our car for another 2 weeks for FREE! Even though we were coming down from San Francisco (not the most convenient) we decided to go for it. And thankfully, it worked out. Less than a week later we had a serious buyer and check in hand!
Thanks guys! I will recommend you to anyone who is looking to either buy or sell their car!! -

Trust & Confidence are of paramount importance when it comes to dealing with a used car dealer... and in these rough times it is hard to find anyone who is not trying to get their cut and screw you in the end,,,,
But at Wheels and Deals you forgo the BS.
It is a win win situation for both buyers and sellers.
I went in to Wheels and Deals to sell my used bmw and Jerry was of great assistance, I do not have the time or patience to try and sell the car on my own. I know what a hassle it can be to TRY and sell on craigslist or by word of mouth. Jerry explained the premise of the lot in great detail and in the end I felt AWESOME leaving my car in good hands.
Few weeks later my car was sold and I was able to collect from the third party, EASY, stress free transaction and I know the buyer was happy to get such a great deal and I was thrilled to get more $ than I would have had I listed it on craigslist and of course minus the hassle, WIN WIN situation.
The guys over at Wheels and Deals were a pleasure to work with. Nothing short of excellence...with Honesty and Integrity. No BS which is almost an anomaly when you think of used car dealership/sales.
The guys over at Wheels and Deals not only meet but surpass all expectations.. -

I just bought my SUV there 2 weeks ago. The one man, I think his name was "Bob", was the nicest guy to deal with.
I am a woman who has been highly successful at negotiating excellent deals at regular new car dealerships. I always go in armed with internet printouts and newpaper ads, and I don't let them bully me, but it was a very draining experience. But, when I went to sell or trade in those cars I bought new, I was dismayed at how much money you lose through depreciation, so this time I decided to buy a good condition used car.
I found my car at Wheels and Deals. I got a fantastic price, without having to spend half a day, expending all my energy, dealing with some slimy salesman at a regular dealership. No back and forth BS, no "I gotta ask my manager" routine. Not to mention how great it was to only have to fill out a few documents, and not 50 pages of nonsense that goes along with a regular car dealer sale.
If you are looking for a pleasant used car buying experience, I suggest you take a peek at what they have in stock here. -

We used Wheels & Deals to sell our Volvo suv which sold in exactly 30 days(side note our vehicle had very high miles)! Jerry waited for us to arrive, past closing time, as we were driving up from south county, kudos on the customer service. They were also diligent at working with us on accurate pricing and helped by giving us weekly updates so that we could understand how the car was doing with visibility and reassess as necessary.
The only recommendation we have is that advertising on craigslist would be a huge plus! But that is easily managed by the seller and its free to guide buyers to your car.
Thanks for a great experience! -

I sold my Honda Civic here and was very surprised at how easy it was to do and how professional the staff is. Being a woman in my twenties, I needed someone to take care of the test drives for the sake of my safety. Test drives are included in the price and I paid a little extra ($30-something) to have a "babysitter" go along for the test drives so my car wasn't driven straight off the lot.
You field all the calls (they give out your number, FYI) and it was recommended to not take an offer without them not having test-driven the car. Once the deal has been made over the phone, you meet with the buyer in person to exchange the cash (always do cash) and the title. In ten minutes you are done!
I can't wait to use them in the future! -

I don't write reviews, but I just saw a commercial and they mentioned that they had good reviews on Yelp. I am compelled to tell you the truth about Wheels and Deals.
I happen to hold a dealers license to buy cars at auction, just for personal and family purchase. I sold my car through wheels and deals and went this route simply for what I thought would be the ease of selling a vehicle, only to be extremely dissatisfied with them for the following reasons:
1. It took them over 4.5 months to sell my vehicle.
2. Every month I would call multiple times and stop by at least once a month to check the status, only to be told that my car was being looked at but no buyers. I eventually lowered the price by a couple of thousand dollars in hopes of selling quick. Each and every time I was told that they would not charge me for the monthly fee. Hence, the reason why I kept my car on the lot....though I wanted to take it home to sell on my own....they balled faced lied! Both owners with whom are brothers.
3. Though my car sat at this lot and was started from time to time my car somehow became so impaired that it took a trip to their mechanic who charged me $500 or so for a check engine light diagnostic and the sub sequential repairs associated including a tune up, in about the 4th month.
4. About the end of the 4th or 5th month of this painful process I was fed up, asking for my car. I had been laid off from a seven year career in high tech (it happens) and had plenty of time on my hands to deal with the sale. Luck or lack thereof, they apparently sold my car. I asked repeatedly for 2 weeks, what did you sell it for since we had agreed on a minimum amount for which I kept lowering over time.
5. Finally, they call me which I think they did 3 times in the whole 5 months, seriously, to be told that they sold it for $800 less than I had agreed was the bare minimum.
This is where it gets really ugly with the owners of this establishment. Jerry and Bob both claimed that they never claimed that they would not charge me for the cost of keeping my car on the lot. Bare in mind that as a dealer sale, they were "doing me a favor", having them sell the vehicle on my behalf as a dealer. They were"allowed" to sell the car for less than the agreed.
I implore anyone reading this to understand that yes, I am bitter about this but have moved on. I just want to help any others thinking of dealing with them, it was quite honestly one of the worst experiences of my life. But such is life, live and move on, but where you can, give advice to others where you can. Best of luck selling your vehicle.Comment from Jerry F. of Wheels & Deals 8/17/2011

Easiest way to sell a a car! I sold cars before by placing ads in Auto Trader and also on Craigslist. It took so much time and effort to field calls and set up test drives. I also had to make sure I had another person with me for safety reasons on the test drives. I was not looking forward to this at all when selling my current car (2000 eclispe).
I took my car in on a Sunday (2 hours before closing) and met with Bob. He throughly explained the total cost to place my car on the lot. I was a little nervous that it would take more than a month to sell my car since it was a bit old and had high mileage. Bob helped me with an appraisal and we came up with a list price for the car. By the time I got home that evening, my car was already online as Wheels & Deals takes care of the internet advertising as well,
The very next day to my suprise, I received a call from Wheels & Deals saying someone wanted to make an offer on the car. I accepted the offer and closed the deal with the help of Wheel & Deals who also assisted with the paperwork.
I was so impressed. My car literally sat on the lot for only 5 business hours before it was sold. It couldn't have gone better. Both myself and the buyer were happy as well as Wheels & Deals. If i ever sell another car, I will not hesistate to bring it here. Its as EASY as it can GET! -

I go here regularly to check out dream cars for my budget. This is the best place to window shop for used cars for sale by owner. No gimmicks and no salesmen trying to hustle you.
Sometimes you come across something dream-worthy. Like that '73 Corvette aka The Batmobile. Or a '67 Porsche 911. But usually they have the typical array of Honda Civics, BMW 325, VW Jettas, and a bunch of pickup trucks. -

What better way to sell your car than leave it in the good hands of Wheels & Deals who will let people test drive the vehicle on your behalf. Fellow Yelper Travis W recommended this place to me and I sold my Passat within 2 weeks and at least more than $2,000 what a dealer would offer me for a trade-in.
One star less because you really still need to do your own advertising on craigslist and you will still need to handle calls from prospective buyers and do the paperwork yourself.Comment from Jerry F. of Wheels & Deals 2/24/2010

How is it possible that no one has reviewed this place? Is it THAT much of a hidden gem that even though its 2008 I still manage to find FIRST TIME yelps?
So here is how to sell your car, guaranteed. First off, set a fair price. Check http://www.kbb.com. Then, make a rocking post on CL about how awesome your car is and tell them to check it out at Wheels & Deals. By this time, you've already gone there and dropped the car off at Wheels & Deals. They will show the car for you and by having it there, you don't have o go through the hassle of setting up a time to show the car off how ever many people you have interested in buying. I agree that it's a good place for buyers, but not for sellers. They did try to upsell me, I fell for the $75 for 'test drives'. No one drove it. When someone wanted more info they called me anyway. Waste of $75. The car ended up selling for $2k below blue book (VW Jetta). I wasn't to pleased with the whole experience.
I see where they are coming from and it is a good idea. I think it would be even better if they didn't CRAM all the cars together, if the office wasn't so 'trailer park' looking, and if it was generally a nicer place to do business.Comment from Jerry F. of Wheels & Deals 2/6/2010

My favorite thing to do on a lazy weekend day is check out used car lots and ogle the vehicles. The one thing I absolutely HATE about that though is slimy annoying salesmen who follow you around like stalkers and won't shut up. This is why I love coming to Wheels & Deals -- you are 100% free to run amok through their lot (and it's a large lot!) and look at anything you want and THEN if you decide you wanna see more of a car or test-drive it, you just let them know and they help you out quickly. No pressure at all. I'll more than likely be coming here to find my next car.

If you're in the market for a used car, you absolutely positively have to go to Wheels & Deals.
A lot of the prior reviews have it nailed: no slimy sales guys following you around, insulting your intelligence with BS stories about how great their cars are, no pressure. It's a consignment lot, which naturally removes the slimy sales guy from the equation.
W&D also always seems to have a high-quality inventory of cars, including some exotic sports cars, classic musclecars, and even a number of nice motorcycles.
And when you buy a car there, the paperwork literally only takes a couple of minutes. -

I recently bought a car off their lot and I was really impressed with the service they provide.. They charge you $298 when it sells and $75 per month to put it on the lot. They wash the cars daily and they help you with the DMV paper work if need be. I've bought and sold a few cars in my time and it's always a hassle to show them. When you find a car you like you can inspect it and take it for a test drive but you deal directly with the owner if you have any questions or want to haggle on price. I went there to check out an Audi and bought a BMW.

My husband and I have sold 3 trucks and one car from Wheels and Deals. All our experiences have been great! The guys working there are very upfront about all costs. They completely explain things to the buyers and the sellers with great humor. When I went to price my car they recommended a much higher price than what I was going to go for. I didn't get that price but I did get a couple of hundred dollars more than the price that I originally would take. All in all, we have had very good luck with selling our trucks/car there.

Great place for buyers, sellers be careful.
I tried to sell a car here, and they were friendly and helpful. They upsold me on the "front row placement" for extra money, but when I went by to check on it the car was buried back a couple of rows and they had to move some cars to get it out.
Insist on checking the car when you drop it off and when you leave. When I picked up my car, it had a nice new scratch on the left side and a ding on the right side.
I don't think the service here is intentionally bad, I think they just have a lot of cars and people coming thru the lot, and if you don't demand good service you may not get it. -

We can't recommend Wheels & Deals highly enough! We had just purchased a new car but didn't want the hassle of dealing with prospective buyers coming to our home and test driving our car. Luckily, we found Wheels & Deals. Jerry answered all of our questions and helped us to price it very accurately ($500 more than we were originally going to ask). We just dropped off our Prius yesterday and received 3 inquiries and a sale within 12 hours. The transaction went very smoothly. We have the utmost confidence in the Wheels & Deals team.
