Very nice place to stroll, love the open outdoors layout, fresh air.
Lots of wonderful shops, shop owners are really nice and friendly.
Great place to get gifts that you can't get from the ABC or Airport store.

Easy to walk to from well just about every where if your staying in Lahaina.

Typical tourist shopping. Beautiful location with a great view of the setting sun.  We took a sunset whale watching sailing tour from the beach.  We walked around afterward waiting for a table at the Hula Grill.  We didn't purchase anything at the stores, because there really wasn't anything special. It's just another mall.

There are some showers at the beach to wash off your feet.  There are a few different restaurants with a beach view.  The wait can be VERY long, so get your name on a list quick!

There are a few hotels here and some great snorkeling directly off the beach.

Whaler's Village if very convenient for those of you staying along the stretch of hotels ending at Black Rock. It isn't large, but they have a food court as well as shops to browse. Honolulu Cookie Company is here, as is the Maui Dive Shop and of course, the ubiquitous ABC store. For those fashionistas out there, Louis Vuitton is also located within Lahaina Village.

There are several 'local' style stores selling clothing and artwork if you're interested in that sort of thing but on the whole, Ala Moana this is not. Compared to Honolulu's mega mall, this pales in comparison. However, for convenience, it suffices!

Exactly how the Yelp two stars is defined: "Meh. I've experienced better." Not that there was anything wrong with Whaler's Village, but it was nothing special. Maybe that's because my expectations were too high, as many had told me that this is a shopper's paradise. Au contraire, mon frere!
Most of the shops have cheap souveneirs or vacation tees. And smack dab in the middle is a Louis Vuitton store. Hello? That's one extreme to another! I did purchase some macadamia nuts that day, but that's about it. Would not go back!

Whalers village has a nice variety of different shop to pick up souvenirs or a new swim suite. There are little shops for just about everything from your high end shops to your tacky tourist traps. Whalers Village is also the place to grab dinner at either Hula Grill or Leilanis. There is also a small food court down stairs where there's a McDonald's Express, a pizza place and a Chinese place. I guess you would say that Whalers is the main shopping area if you are staying at any one of the Ka'anapali's resorts. The most popular store is the ABC store.

Definitely worth checking out if you are in Ka'anapali.

The only reasons to come here are the Hula Grill and the Honolulu Cookie Company. The Whaler Museum is interesting but not worth an extra trip here.

Also, they only validate parking if you spend $10 or more at a shop. Easy enough to do with Honolulu Cookie Company and the fairly large ABC store, but still.

Serious shoppers should just go to Wailea. For your touristy needs, just walk down Front Street in Lahaina.

After reading the 16 reviews here, there is one obvious thread - Whaler's Village is a "so-so" shopping center with run of the mill stores and most likely ones you can find at home. This is true, but it sure saved my butt when I was on the last day of my busy business trip and had to go somewhere to pick up souvenirs for family and friends! Also remember, Hawaii gets visitors from countries other than the US and Canada, and this shopping area, with diverse offerings, will serve them well.

Although I spent time browsing all the stores, the most useful to me was the ABC Store (Hawaii's multiple-location gift shop). I was able to pick up inexpensive island jewelry, some sarongs, a nice tote bag, cheap but beautiful Hawaii photo calendars and various other items - all with reasonable prices.

I was there in early evening and just happened to catch the sunset on the beach - beautiful! How many shopping malls in America have that feature? None where I live!

Something else I liked about this center was that I was able to get an inexpensive dinner at the food court on the lower level. They had a McDonald's, a pizza place and a few other inexpensive options. Sure, it's nice to be able to eat out at expensive and "nice" restaurants when you're on vacation, but sometimes you just want a quick, cheap meal.

When I went to Whaler's Village I was actually staying a bit further away in Kapalua. I managed to take the bus to the center, which was quite easy and I think cost $2. They drop you off right at the entrance and run in 30-minute intervals. Ask your concierge for details.

If you are staying anywhere in Kanapali- you will make it to Whalers Village at some point, if just to run into ABC Stores for some souvenirs or sunscreen.

There are a few "fast" food joints in here as well as tourist shopping for clothes, trinkies, etc and some sit down restaurants that are nice.

It's a nice place to walk around and see the big WHALE.  There is a whale museum in here too but we never made it there.

Don't waste your time... tourist trap.  It's okay if you are walking off a Mai Tai buzz, but if you really need to do some serious shopping, this place is going to disappoint, unless you want a LV purse, or something.

One word to describe this shopping center would be "convenience". Many stores to shop and brows around, and there are 2 huge restaurants - Hula Grill and Leilani's on the beach overlooking the beach (oh yeah, packed every night pretty much), and a small food court inside the Whalers Village.

Free trolley bus is running throughout the Kaanapali parkway to stop at verious hotels, and one of the stop is here. Schedule was something like every 30 minutes or so, mostly on time but you gotta understand it is a free shuttle service. Don't forget to tip the driver!

I liked the whale's skeleton near the trolley/tax area. Whalers village cannot be completed without a skeleton of a whale!!

Oh, they had hula dancer at night at the courtyard area and I believe that was Friday night. It was nothing "huge" but sure was nice :)

Whaler's Village is the only shopping center on Kaanapali beach resort area.  It is located in the heart of the big hotel and private resorts.

I love the mix of shops there . Leilani's is one of the better restaurants, and I just love the old map shop. Also, there is a free musem there that describes the Lahaina whaling era.  Has some great artifacts from that area, and nicely done posters/presentations.

Of course, has an ABC store, the only store you need anywhere on any Island for tourist stuff, drinks, fast foods, and trinkets.

Some very nice jewlery shops also.  I love to go look at the pearl earrings and necklaces.  I try to buy one set for each of my 7 girlfriends on each trip (just kidding).

Several art galleries, and some men's/women's clothing stores also available.  If you get there at the right time, there always seems to be a free hula or other Hawaiian entertainment in the center plaza area.

So, a nice stop to shop and look place off the mundane beach and ocean scene of Kaanapali. :-)

I don't mind browsing through the Whaler's Village at night if I am waiting for my table at the Hula Grill.  I don't think there is much here that you can't get back home.  I mean, unless you just have to get matching his and hers ensembles at Tommy Bahama or Hilo Hattie.  Don't laugh...I actually had a boyfriend suggest this.  I refused, of course.  He was from Indiana.

If you like touristy places and open air, upscale strip malls, this is definitely the place for you.  The trolly makes stops here so you don't have to drive.  Kids and old folks seem to like it here, from what I have been able to ascertain.

Very conveniently located with a variety and ranges of restaurants and shopping. Restaurants range from the rusty pelican to mexican food, to the Hula Grill. Shopping from your typical ABC store to the shirts store, to high end jewelers.

Don't miss the whale skeleton at the street entrance, nor the whale/whalersmuseum upstairs.

Lovely to walk over to what I refer to the beach frontage sidewalk to work off some of the delectable calories. Flanked by hotels and condos.

I loved shopping in this mall after we finished dinner.

They have a great Tommy Bahama store, many jewelery stores, a great surf shop and art galleries.

Great shopping center located right in the middle of all of the hotels in Ka'anapali. If you are staying in that area you can walk there or you can catch the free trolley that stops at all of the hotels. If you decide to drive there is free parking just to the left of the shopping center marked "beach access parking" but its small and fills up fast. A parking garage is located to the right of the center and I believe most places will validate.

Lots of great shops and restaurants. High-end shops like Coach and Louis Vuitton and surf shops like Honolua Surf Co. and other things in between. It also has some pretty great restaurants that sport AMAZING views of Maui sunsets. Small food court but why eat there when there are nice restaurants? Lately it's become more crowded and they've added kiosks all over the sidewalks which I think really take away from the gorgeous views and jams up pedestrian traffic in some places.

We try to make it a point to stop by here when we're in Lahaina.

Great place to browse and shop because of the diverse collection of designer boutiques, gift shops, and art galleries. Like John, I agree Leilani's is the best with excellent open-air dining right off Ka'anapali Beach!

It also houses a whale museum, "Whaler's Village Museum" home to an impressive collection of whaling memorabilia and it's free :)

If I wanted to visit a bunch of generic chain stores where its impossible to tell if I'm in Anchorage or Hawaii, I would have simply stopped by a mall near home. I came to Hawaii to get away from all that, and even though I understand the financial incentive to create Whaler's Village, it certainly did not contain a single stop worthy of the area. If you are the type that loves to shop for overpriced trinkets from touristy places, then you'll love it, but thats simply not my type.

The only good thing about Whaler's Village is their parking lot. Period.

The only good thing about Whaler's VIllage is the Hula Grill. You could go shopping in any of these stores anywhere else on Maui or in the world. Why buy a Louis Vuitton wallet at the beach?

Tourist shopping...just use this place while you're at Ka'anapali beach.

Good restaurants.  Okay selection of shops.  Nice atmosphere - lots of ocean life-themed fountains, which my kids enjoyed.  But what are you doing at the mall on your vacation?  Get back down to the beach and jump in the ocean.  Do something you can't do at home while you're in Maui.  We roamed around this place for a little while on our last day in Maui because we had a 12 noon check out time and a 9pm flight.  I'm glad we didn't use up any of our precious week at the mall.

The locals tell me only the rich haole tourists go here and they were right. At least the merchants were cool to us, they thought we were locals too. I got "da 10% local discount" on several purchases. Compare this place to Fashion Island in Newport Beach, CA. Very ritzy, expensive, touristy and overpriced. It was if I never left the mainland when I came here. Go somewhere else and discover what the REAL Maui is all about.

This is the only mall that I went to, it's a nice little place to browse around, but not necessarily to do some serious retail therapy compared to out in Oahu. There are 3 restaurants out there by the water, Hula Grill, Lahaina's & Rusty Harpoon. There is a tiny food court downstairs with a McDonalds, ice cream/smoothie place, Italian food/pizza & Chinese food. There are a few shops for the younger crowd such as Volcom or PacSun. For the people who are into luxury brands, there is only the Louis Vuitton, Coach & Tiffanys that I can recall passing by. I'm glad that I didn't stay at the hotels out by here b/c the beach area here is more crowded than where I stayed at. I stayed at a place a little North from here, but it's the same beach though. By the way the first 3 hours are free with validation.

I think this mall is good for what it is.  It is clean, open and easy to get around.  I like that you can walk to it from all the resorts along the beach there.  Lots of places to buy stuff to take home from the island.  I don't think it is really worth saying that anything is lacking because it seems to be evolving with the demands.

If you don't mind spending LOTS of money, this is the place to go.  With all the upscale shops (Tiffany's, Coach, etc.) and the trendy restaurants just off the beach that are packed every night, you might get out of there paying only one arm and leg.  I was impressed with the large whale skeleton hanging in the middle of the entrance, and the hula shows in the courtyard were nice to see, but I could have done without the constant berrage of cart venders accosting me whenever I left a store or walked down the walkway.  And the price for parking is quite high unless you get a validation.  There are plenty of other places to shop or eat that are local owned and run, and a lot more interesting than Whalers Village Mall unless you just happen to be a label whore.
