Wow I love this place!
It's super duper pristine white clean! For all the asian market shoppers, u know this is a rarity and must be celebrated and rewarded so other markets can try to follow suit.
Typical asian marts are gross, the produce is not fresh and you have to be super careful to not pick up any moldy or close to spoiled produce. It's a gamble, but somewhat worth the extra tons of money you save from shopping at the monster chains. I guess nothing beats the amount of satisfaction I get from feeding my bf and I for a week under $30 bucks.
This one on the contrary, has very fresh produce. I see employees sifting through the bins picking out fruit that has gone bad.
The variety here is wonderful too. They have a lot of japanese items which impressed me . Japanese stuff is good quality in my book. There even cute items to buy. Usually when I go to asian marts, it's all practical stuff, never anything cute to buy. They have entire rows of sake, new to my asian mart experience. There's also all sorts of beers that aren't easy to find including Filippino beer- San Miguel! What really bought me was the fact that all my specific items I travel to different asian marts to get, were all here, in ONE store, and I couldn't be happier! :) . Sinigang mix w/o shrimp powder and my favorite ramen I've only found in NJ are examples of my precious treasures.
There's also fresh sushi made on site as well as a Vietnamese restaurant and a little shoe store.
Today is a good day. I'm having fantastically sweet strawberries from Westminister Superstore and I am wearing pants I haven't worn for 3 years. Last night's dinner was their fried fish that we had cleaned and fried there. Just take it home and make a nuoc mam (fish sauce) + mango dipping sauce and you're set! The fish is fresh with lots of meat and cheap. However, I was not so pleased when my fish was done in the fryer and they stuck a raw fish in the same basket as my cooked fish!
~* it's super, man *~
