Review from Nathan P.
Where I'm from malls don't really look like this...
I mean this shopping center is a wee bit small to me. I'm used to malls that have 100s of stores. But this mall does have the basics and the necessities. The mall does have a huge food court, which impressed me.
There is the monorail that leads to the Space Needle.
I can't say too much about this shopping center. If you're visiting Seattle the only reason you would want to come here is if you need to go to the monorail to get to the Space Needle. -

the stores are not the usual popular ones you see. The only store that I went in was Daiso - the dollar Japanese store. But if you're looking for forever 21 or h&m, they are on the streets of Seattle!
Only came in because it's right next to our hotel. -

I remember going here a lot in the late 90s, when it seemed like an upscale part of downtown. Now Pacific Place has taken that over, and there are plenty of non-mall shops to walk into. Westlake is always half-empty, even in the food court now.
There's one store area, in particular, that has been empty ever since the chain bookstore went out of business in 2000!
There's access to the monorail from the top, which is nice, and you can get here from the bus tunnel without going outside (handy in the winter). With the Nordstrom Rack going in here maybe I'll come more often.
But otherwise, the definition of meh. -

This mall is definitely the ugly step child of the Seattle metropolitan area but it does have some redeeming values. Free bathroom :) A food court where you have some variety, Fireworks store which I love and soon Nordstroms Rack!! This place is worth a visit, go for happy hour at PF Changs after you do a little shopping (I say little because there aren't a lot of shops of note) and then be on your merry way to Pacific Place!

Typical mall atmosphere. Has a couple cool shops but alot of bum kids and homeless people are around since it is downtown.

Good food court little of everything for anyone. Some pretty cool stores. But I'd have to say it's a little out dated. Needs a face lift. But it's ina great location, and you can grab the monorail from there. The Pacific Place is a lot cooler for shopping. I feel the only reason why westlake gets attention is the Monorail.
With everything going on around it, you would think the owners would want to modernize it. Oh well its just mall -

Hhmm.....What is it? lol. So I was looking for boots in Seattle when I came to visit...ppl told me to come here? WHY would they point me here? LOL theirs nothing here to shop for! If your looking for and Icing or clairs they have one here or and expensive nice boutique, but other that its pretty much a waste of time and walking to!
I don't recomend this place for shopping whatsoever! GO TO PACIFIC PLACE!!! -

One of my favorite pastimes is walking through the food court and getting full off of all the free samples.
Free bourbon chicken? Yes please. Free curry and naan? Sure! Free California roll? Most certainly. Free orange chicken? Ok. Free Teriyaki chicken? Yeah. Free breadstick? Eh.
Seriously, I just walk down the rows and I am magically fed without spending a penny.
Sometimes I actually buy food at one of these places when I'm starving and the sample is just that good, but then I am very, very sorry. Don't ever buy into these samples. They're good for free, but the moment you put money down, instant regret.Listed in: Lunch in Downtown Seattle

Better than Woodland Park Zoo!
Best exhibit is in front of Starbucks.
Look out for the ones with metal spikes coming out of their noses and ears or the ones with exotic markings and prints.
Don't be afraid to take pictures. -

Well I never really had to much of an opinion of this place, a couple of cool shops, decent food court overlooking the park, and a way to get to the Seattle Center, but today I was out just looking for a quiet place to eat lunch and get some work done, and decided to stop here. I was sitting down to a table near an outlet and getting my laptop set up while starting on my lunch. MInding my own business when a security guard yelled at me for plugging my computer into an open outlet. I mean WTF! Sorry this just pissed me off. Its a public place, they don't get much business anyway and now they just lost another customer. I know they have issues with the younger homeless kids wandering around here but I have also noticed they have a tendency to run down just about any young looking person in a hoodie that sticks around a little more than an hour. Thats bull crap. Pacific place is so much better.

Bog standard mall with a decently large food court. Le yawn.
Monorail station is a nice touch. -

Last stop on the light rail on the north end. We rode all the way from the Sea Tac station at the south end, a little over a half hour ride. Dumps us in the middle of a high end, underground mall, next to Nordstoms. Poor Nordstrom's employee spent her time directing rail riders to the bathrooms.
A few blocks down the hill once you find daylight, is Pike Place. Vibrant city life, "money" mixed with "homeless". Definitely an experience worth seeing. -

Downtown Shopping Center that has a large food court and multiple shops. They are working on improving it with a remodel to add Nordstroms Rack. Starting to look better but they still need to add a few better stores and warm the place up a bit. Feels a little cold on the ambiance.

There is almost nothing that I particularly love or like about Westlake Center. Their stores are VERY limited, although they just opened up a Daiso downstairs and I'll always be a fan of Fireworks, but other than that I have no reason to come here. Even their food court is slowly shutting down places (World Wrap) so there isn't even a great place to eat here.
I think Westlake Center really needs to get a face-lift and make some drastic changes. It doesn't help that there are always homeless and scary-drugged out teenagers hanging out outside between Westlake and the Starbucks. -
Review from Kayla A.
I visited Seattle in January and the Westlake Center was a couple of blocks away. It is in a convenient location for those staying in downtown.
The good thing about it was that the monorail to the Space Needle was conveniently located at the mall so it was easy for us to walk there and catch the rail.
The food court was also a plus. There was a wide variety of ethnic foods available. It was difficult to choose which vendor to buy from.
Other than that, the shops are okay, not anything exciting. -

The other day, I was walking around here with a good friend of mine who asked me, "If you had a $5,000 shopping spree here, where would you spend it at?"
Honestly? Nothing really....well maybe Daiso but you probably don't need that much money to buy one of everything in the store. Oh and maybe Lush.....but seriously, Westlake is becoming a ghost town. The bottom floor is practically deserted now and I don't even set foot in the majority of the stores. The bathrooms are gross here. I thought they only had bathrooms near that pizza place on the top floor but I recently discovered cleaner bathrooms behind McDonalds.
I really hope that this place gets some new stores or restaurants in place soon. It's really sad to see how downhill Westlake has become. -

The Westlake Center is an incredible experience thats all I have to say but I've been better malls! Its basically a big ole FOOD COURT!
I do like how its attached to the Monorail.
The Sushi inside was OKAY, I had better & like any other mall food -court theres plenty of food to sample from. -

"What shall we do this Saturday?"
Jim asked to his friend Drake
"Perhaps we should first grab a parfait
and then head downtown to Westlake!"
"But nay!" said Drake, "they are the worst!
They have not one decent store!"
Jim was surprised "well that's a first
Please my dear friend tell me more!"
So Drake replied "They've gone downhill
Since five or ten years ago.
Almost everyone there smells like moldy Krill
And dresses like they're homeless emo."
"But what of the food court?" Jim asked with a shriek
"They have food from all over the earth!"
Drake said "The only good food they have there is Greek
The rest tastes like fried afterbirth."
Jim was so shocked he looked quite ill
"My friend that clearly isn't so.
They have some great stores like Fireworks and Fossil
and... and uh... other stores... like Daiso(?)"
Jim paused "Okay, I guess you are right.
What caused it to go so askew?"
Drake looked at Jim, took a drink from his Sprite
and said "They opened a store for WSU."Listed in: Bad

Westlake Center is a 4 floor shopping center that hooks up with the Monorail system. Given it's four floors, it sounds substantial. However, it's not. Westlake Center has the least amount of stores I've ever seen in a mall. Granted, the center is downtown and surrounded by a variety of other stores...many of which you would find at a mall or close to it. But that doesn't change my 3-star rating. The things I enjoy most about Westlake are Daiso, Fireworks, and the food-court which offers indoor and outdoor seating.

simply put - this place is outdated and rightfully under appreciated. why is it still here? its nearly a staple of downtown seattle shopping. i've been to so many downtown shopping centers and they're fancy - attractive - have reasons to visit.
Westlake Center doesn't have much that appeals to the general public - aside from the transit center on the bottom floor and the food court on the top floor. smaller stores such as Play music (CD store), WSU team shop (right in the middle of downtown when UW is miles away isn't the best location), a store that sells soap, an asian $1 store, a fancy chocolate shop... a bean bag chair store... simply put - boring. even the food court is of nothing spectacular. i don't think it's been rennovated in over 15 years - you have your standard mcdonalds, sabarros, philly steaks, chinese food, hot dog on a stick, cajun grill, emerald city smoothie and a few others. -

I kinda like Westlake, I do enjoy the food court, Lush and Daiso all in one location. Plus since its attached to the bus tunnel I never have to go outside in the rain if i'm running between buildings. I love Thai Go and Charley's for my lunches, its reasonably good food and okay in pricing considering its downtown. Now that overpriced McDonalds is a mess, just walk up the street to the 3rd avenue McDonalds, they have the dollar menu.
They have a few stores that are decent but it seems as if lately a lot of the stores are leaving and its quite the desert town. Especially on the bottom floor. I run into Daiso every once in a while but thats really it. I love Lush is there in the mall though, I hope that doesn't leave. Throughout the rest of the mall you have little trinket shops, Claire's and a Jessica McClintock shop. That's really it though. -
Review from Beau S.
I really hate Westlake overall, there is not 1 shop I like. However I do think the food court is really good and like the overall area it is in. They are however revamping the lower level and adding a Nordstrom Rack soon so that will earn an extra star soon.

Mall is so-so (solid 2.5 stars)
Only perks for going here is the mall food court located on the 3rd floor, Monorail to Space Needle ($2 one way/$4 round trip) and if you're a WSU student or alumni, probably their WSU Connection Store.
Not much selection from this mini mall, but the location is what makes it popular since it is in the heart of the city. -

Seattle, WA
This place has serious potential - great location, fun events, easy to get to in a variety of ways (monorail, light rail, street car, bus, foot - not really car), but it just isn't fully there.
First, it needs a serious face lift. I'm sure it looked great in the mid-80's - all modern, and what not - but today it looks like it belongs in Boca Raton, full of NY Snowbirds.
Next, the shops. I mean, I like Fireworks, socks stores and art galleries as much as the next heterosexual male, ... wait, that's zero, Right. None. The book store just doesn't cut it.
Food? A joke. Just a bunch of knock-off chains. PF Chang's is the best thing this place has going (and I'm a big fan of PF Changs), but I can get in and out without going into the mall.
So, 1 star for location and a second for things like the tree-lighting. -

A mandatory stop when we are downtown, I love this place. I'm not one for malls, but I love the feel of this place, especially during the holidays.
We were here for the Figgy Pudding Caroling Competition in December. So much fun! My favorite stop at WC was the Fireworks Gallery. We were in there for 2 hours looking at all the fun stuff and left with lots of fun little gifts and trinkets.
Parking is a breeze in the adjoining garage, and discounted rate applies to scooters and motorcyclists. We made a day of it traveling via Link Light Rail from Tukwila, the WC is the last stop of the line. $10 for 2 people covers roundtrip fare, has you not having to deal with any parking worries. Had lots of fun strolling around and people watching. Lots of great shopping in the area. -

I only like its food court and monorail.

The best place to find a random public bathroom and poo in the downtown shopping district.
What?? Tmi? I had to poo. It wasn't a gross bathroom.

I hate even walking past this place. You know how sometimes there is this set of siblings where they are complete opposites yet somehow they managed to come from the same parents? That's what I think when I compare Westlake Center with Pacific Place (one block up). Not that Pacific Place is the best mall in Seattle (it's not), but Westlake Center just looks like someone at some point in time put in a lot of time and effort into it's location and then as it aged and as Seattle changed they were like, "Meh F it it. The worlds going to hell anyway might as well take the mall down with it."
The shops are sub par and the food court leaves much to be desired. Don't be me started on the bathroom, I'll just hold it and walk a couple blocks to Nordstroms. Sorry Westlake Center, you've just got nothing to offer anyone. -

You know the guy from mad tv played by Bobby Lee? The one that is generally trying to be gangsta and picking up on girls...badly. When he gets rejected he generally loudly exclaims.."Phhhhhaaaassssss". That is how I feel about Westlake center.
Phh-Asss! -

I've seen better malls. This was my second time going to Westlake Center, and honestly there isn't much there. A few good stores to look around here and there but not a place I could spend a good amount of time in. I would probably just go for the food court.

Monorail is close to the mall, right on top of it rather. There's a ton of food court places at the top, tons of cool stores. Not as good as Pacific Place mall.

This is easy to get to now that the light rail stops here. And it is one of the only places in the greater Seattle area that has a LUSH.
They got a poor review because they close the doors from the mall to the light rail BEFORE 9pm, which is what time they are supposed to close. This makes it rather difficult to exit the mall and get back on the light rail. We came across a security guard locking the doors and he wouldn't let us out!
THANKS! I'll go to Lush in Bellevue instead, as that is the only store in the mall worth visiting! Well, ok, the Bubble Tea place in the food court is good too. -

What is this doing here? A mega-mall in the middle of the most unmega-mallesque populated metropolis in America? Just pops out of the blue, next to Belltown, expensive shops to the north and pike place and theaters to the south. It's horrendous. Nothing of value in the entire place.
What's even more dismal for the reputation of this place is Pacific Place, a high scale legit mega mall opens after Westlake Center has been in biz for, what, 25 years?, and totally converts every mall humping SoCal-imported Seattle shopper. The only demographic left for Westlake is the tourists who happen upon it because it's right in the middle of everything and think, "huh, this huge mall is right in the middle of everything. Must be something to it...," but no, no there isn't.
But they go in none-the-less and that's why it's jam packed with tourist-bate shops.
Just try to get past 3rd and Pike with your eyes closed.
And one more thing, why is called Westlake? It's west of no lake which makes me think it was just invented as another cringe-worthy anglo-saxon or tuscany titled LLC. Obnoxious! -

I like going here but, I always seem to get lost. I think I just take a wrong turn and there goes my sence of direction.
I love the silver store and hot topic is a great place to get tripp pants among other things. It is a really fun place to go X mas shopping. The food court has pretty much nothing but greasy food the only thing I like is Soborro pizza.
I always get harrased by the cellphone dorks. I just get rude and annoying and they stop before I go ballistic. Minus a star for all of the religeous people out by the fountains with their end times signs and flyers.Listed in: Places to go

I feel bad for this shopping center. With Pacific Place getting most of downtown Seattle's shopping attention, Westlake (which is still stuck in another decade) sits sadly a few blocks south. I've been here only to take the Monorail with visiting friends or to check out some of the stores when I'm in need of a gift for a holiday. As Seattle is a growing city, this mall is in major need of a face lift. It reminds me of something you'd more likely find in a suburban area... a little run down, a little seedy, nothing special. With such a great location I wonder why there aren't better stores to sort of keep it in the running for nice shopping centers in Seattle? Basically... I only go in here if I need to. Their Sunglass Hut is great though!!

Review from Lorrie M.
Westlake center is an interesting little shopping center that serves an equally interesting crowd. Not too many stores that would interest me but I guess it is connected to the monorail. They have a nice crepe/dessert place that makes some decent food, but other than that it doesn't interest me too much.
Kind of reminds me of this shabby little "mall" at the end of Navy Pier in Chicago which by far was the worst shopping I've ever found in Chicago. Lost of antique/unique little stores though if you're into that kind of stuff ... -

I didn't expect this to be such a small mall-like place. I guess I'm so used our massive tourist mall Fashion Show in LV. I only walked here to take the monorail to the Space Needle. Shops are boring and you can find anywhere else. Great location for Downtown Seattle.

What? No parking validation? What sort of nonsense is this?
I come to your mall. I spend money at your stores. I grab a dee-liciously luxurious mocha at Dilettante on my way out. All of this, only to be fleeced of an extra $7 for the luxury of keeping my car in your underbelly? When I try to call you out on this racket by asking if there is some sort of validation program that I happened to miss out on, I'm told that that's why parking is ONLY $7 in the evenings. Oh, yes. If I would have had the day off, I would have paid $8 for my first hour of parking, and it only goes up from there.
I'm at yr mall, shoppin' yr stores. What more do you want from me? Now that shopping here has become either a special trip by bus or an exercise in fiscal mystery, all you will be getting is an end to my patronage. Fireworks? There's like 6. Lush? There's one in Bellevue Square - it's the size of a broom closet, but there is one. That cute little Japanese dollar store in the basement? Not worth the money you'll save when you have to get slapped in the wallet on the way out.
Happy farkin' holidays to you too, Westlake. May your pipes freeze, your revenue stream dwindle and your stockings be filled with coal. -

Honolulu, HI
Pretty standard indoor shopping mall with stores that you would find in anytown across the country. The top floor has a medium sized food court with seating outside (when the weather allows for it).
The monorail runs here so if you don't want to pay the expensive city parking fees, park near the Space Needle and catch the rail here.
There is a big Washington State team store but I'm not a fan so.......
