I attended a conference there this week and it was wonderful. The rooms are spacious and no gross Southwestern decor was littering my room. Nothing like a wooden, howling coyote to put me over the top.
Service at all areas of the report was great: lounge, restaurant, business center, registration, you name it. Hey they even let me take control of the big TV in the lounge area to watch the women's NCAA basketball finals...much to the chagrin of the NASCAR crowd who were looming a bit too close to the TV remote.
I had a few hours to hang out poolside in between sessions and it was divine. I love resorts that have adult pools. I love kids, but only my own, and I have none. Get it.
Not sure why I would ever go back to Tucson--I am a Scottsdale, spa lovin' kinda gal, but if I ever had a reason to go back to Tucson, I would definitely stay at the La Paloma.
I'll begin by saying that the surroundings at the hotel are beautiful. From our room, there was a view of the mountains that is great. The rooms are fairly large, and it's very pet friendly, but I have to take points off for the hotel not having the heavenly bed... I thought all Westins had this bed, but apparently not. We didn't experience much of the hotel, like the pool or spa because it was a quick trip, and we had our dog, but the pools looked nice. All in all, it was just okay.
I didn't actually stay at this hotel, but I spent four days here attending a trade show. The service is phenomenal, the food is divine, and the decor is lovely. The Westin had true five-star class, which is rare these days. I was really impressed!
Ok if there was a way to give 10 stars this would be it...Their Red Door Spa is a place you'd want to go to during your whole stay! There's 3 pools complete with waterslide- fun-filled activities like horseback riding to off beat trails on their jeep--best of all catch the best sunsets around...
