I recently moved to the Bay Area with my daughter, and Westgate was recommended to me after I posted a youth-group query on Yahoo Answers.

I'm so glad we found this church.

My daughter has been very active in the youth group of our home church in Bend, Oregon, and we weren't sure we were going to be able to find her an equal church; one with activities, athletics, and a progressive stance on worship.

Well ... we did.

Westgate is awesome. I took my daughter tonight, and the High School leader, Christina, made her feel very welcome and comfortable, and within a couple minutes invited Sammy to the after-service pool party. Being a typical Mother, I texted Sammy a few times after drop-off to make sure things were going smoothly, and was pleased to receive positive texts in return.

The best part of the evening? When I dropped off Sammy's swimsuit and community snacks and was told by my daughter that "I had a lot of fun. It was just like home."

Seems we found a local church.

Thank you, Westgate!

I'm giving this church a 4 for now since I have not become really involved here yet so I don't know it well enough yet. I'm leaning towards a 5, though, and think you should definitely give it a shot if you're looking for a church to attend.

If you're thinking about going here, you can expect great worship music (they have the best of anywhere I've been), a sincere Pastor who is an excellent speaker with a perspective I enjoy hearing, and a great community. The message is biblical and not waterd down.

They also seem to really care about each other and the communities they are a part of, encouraging members to participate in all their various community-bettering activities. Unlike other churches, they are really about spreading the Christ's love and don't seem to do anything that would make unbelievers see otherwise.

You should also know that this is a church of beautiful people. Maybe it's the location? It does seem this church is full of true believers getting out there in the community, but they all seem to be well off individuals who workout, have great clothes and great hair.

One thing I really like is that there are a lot of people around my age here (mid 20s to mid 30s).  It seems they have a large college group also as well as a post-college-age group (I think it might really be a singles group without calling it that, but I don't know for sure).

If you are looking for a church to go to, definitely give this one a try. The people are genuine and the sermon will give you some food for thought.

amazing  place to find some insight. the pastor, steve is incredibly down to earth, and the member seem like they are genuinely invested in the church, and eachother. they arent the token "better than thou" christians. its super refreshing... :)

I love this church, and all the people there!  The pastor is uproariously funny. He also has a special way of taking subjects from our faith and Scripture and making practical applications to the world we live in every day.  Pastor Clifford and the rest of the staff are laid back and welcoming, but challenging at the same time.  Most people dress on the casual side, so if you would wear it to visit Grandma's house, it's probably okay here.  The music is a little loud and has a strong rock beat, so be warned.  I'll still attend Westgate when I'm old and gray, but I'll turn my hearing aid down a bit.  If you have kids, they'll love the children's program.  When you get done dropping them off for the morning, grab a donut and coffee, then look for me as you look for a seat in the packed out house.  This place rocks!

There was a time I felt some weird urge to believe. I tried out Jubilee and a Unitarian Universalist church. Then I tried Westgate and took the kids. After the kids said, 'These people are weird. Don't ever make us come back here.'  Apparently they were sprayed with a water bottle? I dunno. Whatever floats your boat. This one sank mine. I'm officially and Atheist now.

We love this church.  The people there are REAL, they have and admit their weaknesses and struggles.  No one pretends that they are "perfect".   We like the emphasis on family and the friendliness of this church.  The pastoral staff are all inspirational speakers who challenge the congregation to grow more in their faith.
