4 reviews for Westfield Shoppingtown Franklin Park
When I think of Franklin Park, I have flashbacks of...
- getting my ears pierced at the Piercing Pagoda
- watching my high school boyfriend play Street Fighter at the arcade
- killing time waiting for the next movie showing at the AMC theater (now the glorified, monstrous Century theater)
- visiting my friend during her shift at Ruby Tuesday's, the only restaurant besides the food court back in the day
Oh the memories... Now, Franklin Park Mall is referred to as "Westfield Shoppingtown". With a new name comes a new look, new stores, new restaurants, basically an entirely new shopping experience. It's gone through quite a transformation and I like it. I didn't have the luxury of growing up with Sephora, Forever21, and H&M but I'm glad that today's Toledo pre-teens do.
By Toledo standards, Westfield Shoppingtown is simply as good as it gets. I have yet to experience the Toledo winter, but I do appreciate the fact that it's an indoor shopping mall. All the shopping I'll ever have to do, I can accomplish in one trip here. Macy's? Check. New York & Co? Check. Guess? Check. Sephora? Check. Banana Republic? Check. BCBG, Aldo, Steve Madden? CHECK!
Dining options are limited to Ruby Tuesday, Bravo, Elephant Bar, and the typical food court businesses, but that has never posed as a problem--at least for me--since I always make an Elephant Bar stop once I've burned enough calories by shopping alone. Another plus to the food scene at WS is the Dippin' Dots located in the food court. Don't get me started on my love for ice cream and the like. Geez. Plus, there are other great dining options close to the mall complex, both on Monroe and on Talmadge.
Oh, and don't be too surprised if you randomly run into your neighbors, friends, profs, landlords, etc here; it seems like the entire 419 and 567 shops at this mall.
I like the mall and everything! The best place where you can get coffee is there at Borders cafe. It's the best coffee in Ohio and probably for me, everywhere. A lot people go all crazy for the Starbucks whatever! It's not that pricey either, and anyone can enjoy it!!!!!
Honestly, is there anywhere else in the city worth shopping at? Featuring all the 'essentials' and anchor stores that one would expect in a small midwestern town, the Franklin Park Mall's expansion to Westfield Shoppingtown was a much needed improvement. The new theaters are great, the Borders is enormous and well stocked, and Build-a-Bear never ceases to amuse me with the incredible number of young children clamoring to jump up and down with a $20+ stuffed animal.....the line is 10 deep at noon on a weekday.
All things being equal, however, the mall still lacks quality dining options and the theater still shows far too few independant films. As a Toledo native who has now moved to Columbus, the Franklin Park mall is stil a fun place to go when I'm home, even if only to remember the days of Red Barron and Babbages. :-)
