I go here all the time, for dog food, and feed & supplies for our chickens.
The people offer great service, and their prices are the best around. Super friendly, and they give great advice on any animal-related questions.
Awesome place to shop, and you feel like you're going back in time with the totally non-corporate atmosphere. -

In a quest to tackle a tick problem suffered by my little miniature donkey I came here....I had such a positive experience that it's now the first place I'll turn for anything farm or donkey related.
The people working here are great; super knowledgeable, friendly and totally willing to try to help find solutions to anything equine that's challenged me. -

A farm center in the middle of a city. Convenient for all the weekend farmers around here. We used to buy goat feed here when I was a kid.
No pun intended.
I have never had a bad experience for the 30+ years of coming here.-warrants 5 stars alone.

I shop here for dog food and supplies. I am a new dog owner and I am learning about food.etc. The staff is very knowledgeable and they are always willing to answer my questions. I trust that I am getting good quality food for my dog and the customer service is great!

This is my favorite place to shop for my pet. They are a local feed store that has almost everything you would need for your furry friend. The prices are usually cheaper than those large chain pet stores, and the staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. Every time that I have a question about a product, someone had an answer for me. Also if I was ever unpleased with a purchase I returned it without an issue. Western Farm will do special orders! Sometimes when I need a particular item, they will order the desired quantity and call me when it comes in. I really appreciate that.

Western Farm center is the least expensive pet store I know of. I shop here all the time. Huge selection of products at the best price in town.
The reason I am giving them a 3 star rating instead of a 5 is because of the fact that they continue to sell rabbits, even though there are so many bunnies filling our local shelters.
Western Farm also keeps their bunnies on wire cage bottoms with no where to rest their feet. Keeping rabbits in this way can cause open wounds on a rabbit's hind legs.
I'd love to see Western Farm do what they do with the local shelters for cats & kittens: adopt rabbits, instead of selling them. -

This is a great place whether you have your basic cats/dogs/birds/fish, or you're more into the farm animals like horses/sheep/goats/chickens. The customer service is excellent, and the choices sometimes overwhelming, but always high quality. They have some animals for sale, but their main biz is food and supplies.
Why not 5 stars? Well, the checkout area can be chaotic & there's no way to line up or make sure the people are served in order. When it's busy this can create havoc and/or hard feelings. Work flow seems very old fashioned & low tech. Could be better.
If you have a Sonoma Saver card you save 5% on each purchase, but only on dog items. No discount for other items. Totally don't get that.
It's a fun place to browse, and while not the least expensive in town, and with a disorganized checkout, still a great place for a good selection for all your animal feed/supply needs. -

What a great feed/pet supply store! They have almost everything I need and at extremely competitive prices. Its not often you find a locally owned store that can duke it out with the big box chain stores. With great prices and even friendlier staff, why go to the chain stores?

This place seriously has everything. They carry the dog food brand I buy (Canidae) and not many places do. Plus, they have everything else I've ever needed for dog or wild bird supply. Also, it's fun to check out the animals they have for sale. I promised myself I'd never buy a hamster again after an unfortunate incident of incestuous pygmy hamsters I had in college, but I can still look, right?
Customer service is always above and beyond what I could hope for. They are so friendly and knowledgeable. -

Love this place!!
They are cat friendly with a wide variety of foods to choose from out of the run of the mill major label brands. They support small and local brands and I LOVE that!!
I personally moved my cats away from Proctor & Gamble supported products and into a grain free food and they are compatible with both of those options. For those of you looking for a healthy alternative to the PetCo supplied products, go here! -

My dog loves going here! The people are really nice. I have a picky dog and had to return 2 bags of kibble that she simply didn't like - it was no problem at all. They suggested Stella and Chewy's freeze dried raw food to sprinkle on top and she LOVES it - 1/2 a pattie does it.

Great local hometown feed store, pet supplies, etc. Super helpful staff. Over the years I've shopped here for baby chicks and supplies, chicken scratch, bunny food, kitten bottles and formula, baby goat bottles, formula, goat wormer. They even loaned us a trap to roundup some ferral kittens for Forgotten Felines. My kids loved to stop by just to see the baby chicks.

Loves it.
So much to choose from. Stuff and foods for your dogs, cats, birds, bunnies, rats, horses...tons of strong men waiting to carry all your stuff out to your car for you.

Wow! We drove all the way from Oakland to visit this place. The Bay Area just doesn't have the same caliber of feed stores.
We bought a chicken coop and chicken supplies for our new backyard chicken setup. The guy who helped us (I don't have his name, so I feel like a jerk) was AMAZING. Super friendly and super helpful. It was worth driving an hour and a half for us, so if you need feed supplies and live in Santa Rosa, consider yourself lucky!! Highly recommended. -

I come here to buy their bulk rope because I can tie it and make my own dog toys for about $3 a toy rather than buying the pre-knotted ones for nearly $20 a toy. and guess what people - it's tying 2 knots. viola

I have lived near Western Farm Center for about a year and have used it as my primary pet supplies shop since. The people are always super friendly. I have felt like a regular since the first day I walked through the door. You are always greeted and the helpful staff will go out of its way to show you a product or tell you about something.
One of my favorite things about this place is that, even though it is a local establishment, the prices are often better then its corporate counter parts. It has a huge selection of pet food and toys and if you don't see what you are looking for, be sure to ask because they may well have what you are looking for in one of the barns.
I don't own a farm. I am just a normal pet owner and I never feel out of place. I honestly cannot think of a single bad or neutral experience when shopping here. I actually look forward to going to the pet store! Oh! and make sure to look for the adorable kittens and cats often available for adoption in the back of the store! -

I've come here to buy feed and pullets ("teenage" chickens). The employees are always helpful and answer all my questions thoroughly.
So far I have been able to find everything I've needed here, living a ranch like lifestyle just outside Santa Rosa in the county.

I've been living in Santa Rosa for a little over a month. I saw this place reviewed on yahoo (it has great reviews there btw), so I decided to go there and pick up some cat litter.
The staff is very very friendly and helpful. In addition to housepet supplies (cats, dogs, etc.), they sell horse food (they have hay, etc.) and really nice horse supplies (brushes of different types, etc).
They also have organic raw meats in patties and smaller nugget sizes available for cats and dogs. They carry Steve's and Variety, which seems to have a lot more flavors than Steve's.
They are really well stocked, have great prices, and are well staffed to help you. They even offered to help me put the pet supplies in my car!
They are very customer service oriented, and hire extremely knowledgeable and friendly staff people there.

The best feed store in Santa Rosa. Has been for the past 40 years or so. I've been buying pet food here since 1973.
Store is large, clean, well lighted, stocked with the best stuff.
Also available, is: Hay, live baby chickens, ducks, turkeys, parakeets, horse tack, saddles, etc....
Weekly visiting veterinarians provide low cost pet vaccination clinics.

Western Farm Center always has anything I need for any of my pets!
The people that works there could not be any more friendly or helpful!
This is such a good example of an old fashioned business that really takes pride in their customer service as well as their quality in product!
Also, they don't have boutique pricing (more expensive because it's a speacialty store) which is rare for this type of store. -

Well, I am a newcomer to Santa Rosa,and first thing I did was try and find a decent pet food store (that had raw food as well). Found this place through Fetch the Paper and was so glad I did. They have a huge selection and staff is very helpful. They also have a BIG raw food selection 3 freezers.
Plus they have about a ton of cashiers so you never have to wait. -

Of all farm supply and feedstores in the SR area (incl Sebastopol too), Western is the most knowledgeable, helpful and always has what I need.
They were great support when I purchased my first 5 pullets and thru raising them - always willing to provide advice with lots of experience to back it up.
Product selection is good. I have known similar stores to have clothes, Western does not - just for reference. -

Other businesses could take a lesson from Western Farm. It is a local business I am happy to support. The staff is beyond friendly and helpful. And there are a lot of them, so wait times, if any, are so minimal. There is always someone to answer questions, and answer them in a thoughtful, unhurried manner.
The selection is excellent and the pricing competitive. They also always stay open a little later than posted. Many times I'm rushing from work and have arrived a bit late. They have never said a word, made a snarky comment or gave anything but a friendly look. -

I have been visiting Western Farm since I was little. I remember my grandmother taking me there to buy chickens and doves. They still have a nice selection of baby chicks as well as older chickens, ducks and geese.
They carry almost all of the raw food diets for dogs and cats as well as some locally made ones. Sometimes I just like to go here to browse and see what goodies I can pick up for my pets. The reptile section is small but very well priced. I buy my Nolvasan and de-worming meds here as well as sprayers and 'monkey chow' for my feeder roaches. Also if you're looking big bowls for your reptiles they have some nice rubber ones for CHEAP! Better than you can buy in any other pet shop in our area. A fun place to visit even if you don't have your own farm :-) -

my aunt told me about this store a couple of years ago, and I am so happy she did! The staff there are very friendly and help you in any way if needed. The prices there are reasonable and cheaper then the Big Box Pet Stores. They have a large selection to choose from as well as farming feed. I was told that this local business has been there for over 40 years! obviously they know what they are doing!

Great prices, huge selection, knowledgeable staff, as good as it gets. Way better than Pet Co. or any other national chain. Plus I've always been partial to local business with a local face in case something goes wrong.

This is the best place to go for your pet and farming needs. Now I am no farmer! But I can appreciate the variety and selection for those who are whenever I go in there. The staff is plentiful and extremely knowledgable and eager to help you. I always find what I need and much more. They are the hub of Sonoma County for anything animal or farm related too, as they have numerous local publishings for agricultural fairs and organizations, breeders and numerous other services and products for any animal or farming need. Overall, they are simply the standard and worth the drive across town for me.

I love this place. I just decided to start raising chickens about 6 weeks ago and learned everything I thought I needed to know off the internet, bought my chickens online and then stopped by this place to pick up a bag of chick starter. Holy crap was I under informed. They really helped out with practical and money saving advice from real hands on experience. Got me set up with better and less expensive items then what I was looking at online and got me all set. Plus they have a ton of people ready to help and they have staff who grab the heavier bags for you and carry it to your car. They also have regular pet supplies. Don't wait to buy chickens to come here like I did, if you have any pets stop on in!
