I rolled out of bed Saturday morning after a long night of beer-drinking. It was 7 am, and I had decided that week to make a vet appointment bright and early! (idiot!) So down the street I go (West Wrigley's just down the street from me). Thankfully Dr. Murphy and staff (I forget the vet tech's name--sorry!) were quick and thorough and offered basically everything I would need for the next year.
We got all the vaccinations done and talked in length about my dog's peeing problem. Dr. Murphy prescribed an antibiotic just in case it was a urinary tract infection (it ended up being a behavioral issue, FYI) without even requiring me to bring in a urine sample. And believe me, this is awesome because I don't know if you realize how annoying getting a urine sample from a dog is!
And all you pit owners, Dr. Murphy has one herself. I'd like to think she's partial to them. :)
Yes I did fork over like $300, but I blame my dog, not West Wrigley.
I took my dog to Dr. Murphy when she had a dislocated knee and I wasn't able to get an appointment at my normal vet. I originally wanted to see Dr. Gaspar but she referred me to Dr. Murphy since she wasn't in the office that day. Dr. Murphy was so nice and patient, she was extremely thorough and the staff was so kind as well. I was really nervous because I hadn't seen her before and my dog is very scared of new people, but Dr. Murphy was just great with her.
I stumbled upon WWAH because I had moved to the area. I had been going to Blum Animal Hospital and was told that getting my dog's deciduous teeth removed would cost me over $300. I just happened to stop into WWAH and asked Dr. Murphy roughly what they would charge and it was almost half of Blum's quote. Everyone in the office is wonderful, they took great care of my dog and his surgery and the final bill came to exactly what I had been quoted. We've been going back ever since, luckily only for a regular check up and an ear infection- but Ricky at reception always recognizes us.
My kitty was so sick and I was panicking at almost 6:00 on a Thursday evening. I called West Wrigley because they are only a few blocks from home and they were very accommodating. Even though they were closing they were very concerned and told me to come in right away.
I confessed to Dr. Murphy that I am a broke grad student and that I cannot afford all of the works. She was very helpful and agreed to run some of the more affordable tests and see what we could work out. She even had the antibiotics kitty needed in stock so I didn't have to go to the pharmacy.
Dr. Murphy was very kind and as I was paying the bill we chatted about her newborn son and my master's degree program. She called a few days later to check up on the kitty. I have never had such wonderful personalized, affordable service. I highly recommend taking your pets here.
Dr. Murphy is really great. She is always great with our 3 cats, and very accommodating if we need to get them in at the last minute. One of our cats had a urinary tract infection last year. We couldn't get him in on a Saturday, so Dr. Murphy offered to take him all day long while we were both at work! The vet assistants are great too. They even called a day or two after we took our cat home to make sure he was doing alright and taking his antibiotics without any problems. They even sent me a calendar magnet with pictures of the cats for Christmas! Just a nice, warm environment with an obviously very caring Dr.
Dr. Murphy and her staff are fantastic. We brought our puppy (Judy) to them in early September, the day after adopting her from a rescue organization in the suburbs. They were kind, gentle and thorough. We have since visited 5 times for some aliments and vaccinations and each time they exceed our expectations and give our little Judy the best care. We can call or email anytime with small issues and get a quick response.
After just 6 weeks of seeing Dr. Murphy, Judy sprints all the way to her office.
As first time dog owners we would be lost without her and her great staff.
