DOUBLE FEATURE TUESDAYS! I love this place. I remember coming here as a kid, and hiding in the trunk of our friends' mom's car.

I definitely recommend coming here on a Tuesday, as it is $5 per person, and they show double feature movies (all movies are $5, no matter how newly released!)
It gets a bit annoying when the moon rises over the screen, because it causes a glare in your vision. Gosh darn it, moon!
    Churros! $2.. yuuuummm
I always wondered what it looked like back in the day. I'm sure it was the spot to hang out, though.

It's kind of in the boonies, so bring a bat or something for protection in case anything goes down.

    Here are my rules:

    Don't-
Expect great sound or video.  Save the explosions for an actual theater or your home system.
Forget to bring your own snacks and beverages.  The prices aren't too bad inside- but they don't serve the necessary beverages for some of the dumb comedies we've seen here (Dinner with Schmucks, anyone?).
Don't turn on your GD lights during the movies.  And no random music, folks.

This is a solid, cheap date night.  It's not going to wow someone on a first date, but it is a good excuse to bring a blanket and snuggle.

This is one of the fun summertime activities we look forward to every year!

    Ingredients:
    a group of friends
    an SUV
    camp chairs
    a pizza, drinks, and candy

    Directions:
    Choose a movie
Pay the low fee to get into the drive-in
Park the SUV backward, open up the back, and blast the radio station with your movie's soundtrack.
Set up camp chairs nearby, enjoy your food, and have fun!

Depending on the screen, you may not get the best view (sometimes the glare from the freeway makes it hard to see).  We don't go here to see movies with high visual value, but it's great for everything else.  Silly comedies, bad action flicks, you name it.  Some of the patrons can be annoying (loud, keep their headlights on and pointing at the screen, etc), but it's a good time!

    NAVIGATION
We found the drive-in entrance no problem and paid for our movie. The road to the screens is a little dark and not well labeled. We missed our turn to screen 3 (Rum Diary) and ended up parking for screen 4 (movie where robots punch each other repeatedly). We asked a couple who looked like regulars - they had brought a blanket and a Dominos pizza - and they helped us find our screen.

    HUMPY
So the ground in the parking lot for each screen is not flat; it's got rows of humps. I presume this is so that you can angle your car up towards the screen. The humps can get quite dramatic and my sedan scraped badly. Lowriders are a no go! A better bet, if you're not in a pickup truck, is to navigate along the edge of each screen's lot where the ground is flat and choose your lane.

    CONCESSIONS
It was pretty psychedelic inside: signs for concessions from decades past; 90s arcade games and an impossible claw machine (sorry gf, no stuffed monkey with banana for you); fluorescent lighting; horse trough urinals; neon red slushies, churros, and "super deluxe" nachos. Some patrons seemed to be in Halloween costumes, but with some folks, I wasn't 100% sure.

    MOVIE
The movie sound crackled just a little over my radio - it's an FM signal. Worse yet, the movie picture was way too dark, to the point where I got the characters mixed up. During a steamy love scene, I told my girlfriend, "oh, I didn't know he was gay!" and she replied, "no that's a woman." For the record, the robot movie on screen 4 next to us was not too dark, and I could clearly make out each robotic hook, jab, and uppercut.

    BAD FOR THE EGO
I told the concessions employee that we wanted the child's size popcorn and he was like "Really? C'mon man, for $0.25 more you get a medium." I succumbed to the pressure, thinking I had appeased him, gotten a good value, and retained some dignity. He then said, "you know, cool people get the 'bucket' size." I said, "Well I guess I'm not cool," and he responded, "Nah, man I don't know you, so you're probably cool."

Great way to see a movie for cheap with friends. I had a problem with the volume one time, but otherwise, the quality is great and there is plenty of room for parking. If you go on a weekend, I suggest getting there early because there are lines.

This place is the best in the summer!! It's so fun to bring a bunch of people and have all the cars in a row. Love how you can bring you dog also. The tickets are also super cheap. It's perfect to hangout watch a movie. It;s way better than a small, crowded, stuffy, pop corn smelled, kid filled movie theater.

A couple of weeks ago a group of die-hard HH'ers assembled for one of my favorite UYEs to date. We ventured outside of the comfort of the Grid to visit the West Wind Drive-Ins. It was a warm summer evening and conditions couldn't have been better to spend a night under the stars watching a couple o' flicks.

A caravan of Yelp vehicles converged upon this time-tested landmark located in the Rosemont neighborhood. And we came correct! We strategically parked our cars to create an impenetrable fortress designed to keep out the riff-raff...or to keep 'em in! Joe and Ida brought enough food to feed a small army. Ice chests filled to overflowing with everyone's beverages of choice dotted the landscape.  We had enough lawn chairs to seat twice as many Yelpers; Mihn's portable hammock was particularly impressive!

Those who were in need of sustenance make a quick jaunt to the snack bar to load up on popcorn, nachos and appropriate mixers. The offerings are drive-in standard; plenty of calories and carbs, but affordable and satisfying just the same.

As the sun dipped lazily behind the horizon, we entertained ourselves with tales of CMYEs past, Giants scores and many tearful (Jeff) goodbyes and well-wishes to Tara W, who would soon be leaving us to make her mark on the SoCal Yelp scene.

The movie finally started! I wish I could count this as a highlight of the evening but the first movie blew chunks of monumental proportions! Thankfully, this night's crew was lousy with the kind of cynicism that makes watching crappy movies at least a bit more of an enjoyable experience. The matinee wasn't much better...but again, timely catcalls and crude commentary made things tolerable, at least.

The crowds were chill on this particular night. No ruffians or hood rats shooting at the screen, no fights in the bathroom and everyone pretty much kept their headlight flashing to a minimum.

If this review sounds a little one-sided, that's because it is! You see, I grew up in Rosemont and have many, many fond memories that took place on this very spot. I got to watch some great movie premiers like "the Goonies", "the Return of the Jedi" and "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" on the outdoor, larger-than-life screen, to name a few. I remember sneaking friends in via the trunk of my buddy's '78 Olds Delta 88; I think we jammed six or seven bodies in that time. How about just walking in sans conveyance and meeting up with friends already inside? And I don't mean to brag, but I've had a couple of steamy make-out sessions in the back seat while the world turned around us...

    ...but I digress...

    The wrap-up:

Don't come here if you want to watch a dark movie. The al fresco environment doesn't do any favors to movies like "the Matrix", where the lighting of the movie is so dim that much of the film views like a blank screen. Don't come here if you possess a fear of the great outdoors; The only roof you get is the inky heavens above. Don't come here if you are expecting any of the comforts and niceties of an indoor cinema.

Do come here if you have a swell group of buds who aren't afraid to yell at the screen or howl at the moon. Do come here if you enjoy the breeze blowing through your hair rather than a stale AC. Do come here if you want to capture the experience of something that has all but gone the way if the Dodo in America. One way or another, it will be an experience to remember!

Summer's here. Good times are on a roll. Discount prices on Tuesdays with admission at $4.95 pp. That includes a double feature. Prices are reasonable with two large drinks and large tub of buttered popcorn for $13. If you save your receipt, you can get a free refill. It's nice to roll down the windows or setup an area around your car and bring a boombox and let the Delta breeze cool you down.
    Plus:
You have your own space and don't' have to fight for arm space.
    Delta breeze
    More Privacy
    Cheaper cover and food prices
Friends can come and crash your movie experience
    Cons:
Idiots shining red lasers on the screen
Dark movies don't some out as good on the outdoor screen
Hot outside means hotter inside the concession stand

Regardless if you're on a budget or not, this is a relaxing atmosphere and teh only thing better is if they had a dedicated lawn for watching the movies. They had a bounce house outside the concession stands for the kids for awhile. Teens like to roam the place and people will leave the second showing for another showing. Cash only at the entrance and the line is long if you don't show up early for the movie. If by chance you get your battery drained during the movie, just wander up to the concession stand and they'll jump you for free. Enjoy the last of the drive in movies in Sacramento and help keep it alive.

Can seeing BAD MOVIES be any more AWESOME than this?!?

    SITREP

Omigod!  a "DRIVE-IN".  I haven't used that term since I used CASSETTE DECKS and BETA-MAX VIDEOS!  Why the f*ck is that term still in our lexicon anyways?!?  Oh, what's that?  You mean...they still....EXIST?  No shit?"

So based on the sudden surprise of a recreational opportunity that we can avail ourselves of, we dedicated UYE (Universal Yelp Event) Troopers, piled up the supplies, the ugly stix, the food, and yes, even a power-generator to give juice to our bitchen portable sound systems.  [Since the audio now comes over your FM radios, we were able to employ BOOM BOXES to give us the ....well, you know. the BOOM!

    SET-UP

It was a basically simple ritual to fall into, and major props to one of Sacramento Yelp's fierceless layperson leaders - JEFFERSON LIEBERMAN - for so energetically promoting this event amongst us.

Like immigrant workers, we gathered at 6:30pm - what seemed to be an entirely TOO EARLY rendevous point at Raley's grocery store on Folsom Blvd (between Power Inn and Watt Avenue) - especially considering that the BRIGHT ORB we call the sun was still at a high zenith.  Nonetheless, this ample time provided a window of opportunity to hit the store and grab supplies (and what would be evidently a far lower cost than the concessions at the Drive-In itself - however, the concessions were not too unreasonably priced considering the more expensive cost at a regular movie theater!

    LOGISTICS

And props to the theater!  They were doing brisk business with a LOT of cars and people coming to the theater.

It was actually a $6.95 per person charge, irrespective if you were one person or SIX in a single car.

There was a great kiddie playground that had jumping fortresses and tunnels for them to play in.  Given the HEAT that was extent that night, someone in their sales force had their thinking cap on and provided a really nice, refreshing sno-cone stand just outside the regular concession area where more usual purchases could be made for popcorn, hot dogs, sodas, nachos and the like.

    MOVIE SELECTION

On this night - first Sat of July - we had GREEN LANTERN, PIRATES, TRANSFORMERS and some other FIRST RATE summer blockbuster films to choose from.

HOWEVER...........however.......did we see any of these sterling picks?  NOooooOOoo!  As a group-vote, we opted for the double-feature of BAD TEACHER (Cameron Diaz) and THE HANGOVER 2.  Haha.  The rationale was, since we were going to be in a big group in a section carved out by blankets & tarps between our vehicles, drinking, eating, belching, and HECKLING the movie, we thought it should be average movies anyways.  If you want to see a movie's special effects in full force....well, the drive-in may not be the best forum to see that particular movie at it's best.

So we had a great time!

    THE LOWDOWN

For a hellaciously fantastic time with great friends and awesome heckling opportunities, go to the DRIVE-IN!

  • Review from Paul J.

The first drive in movie I ever saw was Jason and the Argonauts. The last one I saw in Chicago before the drive in closed was Aliens. This place just sparks nostalgia for the old and bring new memories for the young who don't know about drive ins.

This place is pretty cool! Sure the place looks dated and set in a third world country. That's part of it's charm! There is nothing better than watching a movie in the outdoors with friends, joking around and having a picnic. This is the perfect spot to encompass all three of those elements. I had a blast! The concession stand was fairly fast even though the line was long. The 188181877% markup is in full effect for food items- -just like in every other movie theater in America--but you already knew that! I supported it anyway. I don't want to see the place close because of non support. I also brought some good snacks of my own as well. That's part of the fun. The price of $6.95 for a double feature can't be beat even if the movies blow BIG chunks...like ours did! It was still fun!
A good way to hang with friends or family on a summer night.

My yelper friends and my girl friend drug me out to this wannabe theater one night.  What a dump.  My first thoughts were "how are they going to get all those theaters in that little tiny building and why are we parking way out here"?  Oh!  ...and why don't they utilize all those billboards?  It turns out the building is an old dilapidated concessions stand with bathrooms and it doubles as a sauna.  Oh!  ...and those blank billboards are the movie screens. What in the world have I got myself into???

Where is my air conditioning?  Where is my cushy soft chair?  Where are the massive special effects speakers that rattle my seat?

Next thing I know I am in this big motorized ghetto park with thousands of other ghetto mongers setting up chairs, laying out blankets to sit on, pulling out ice chests filled with wonderful smelling food and enjoying refreshing ice cold drinks.  All of this in the waning moments of intense sunlight at the end of a scorching hot day.

There was multitudes of douchebags, cranking up a very large array of ghetto blasters, filling our faltering asphalt wannabe parking lot with blaring music and various sports events, so don't expect to get any peace and quiet while you patiently wait for darkness.

Joe Bob Briggs would be so proud of me for going to this broken down, ghetto dump of outdoor glory.  We even watched a couple of very cheesy movies that should be in contention for one of his drive in movie awards.  They were so full of really terrible dialogue coupled with lots of mediocre acting.  All in the true spirit of the great American drive in movie.  No one even cared if I snored.

The Wizard says: Make sure you keep the booze in a paper bag.

Be warned, this place is more popular than you think.  I was shocked at how many people were lined up to see a movie in their vehicles.

If you can't stand sitting in traffic, don't go to this theater.  Most people pay with a credit card and that seemingly takes forever.  Pay with cash and you will zip through the pay gates.

Also, people have little to no manners, so if it's a hot night, people are going to be outside of their vehicles...TALKING during the movie. Just be prepared to sit inside a stuffy car if you want to actually hear the movie.

Aside from the noisy tailgaters, it wasn't a bad experience.   You can bring your own food inside, but they do have a concession stand.

I probably won't go back until the weather gets a bit cooler at night.  Silly me, I like to hear what the actors are saying.  If I wanted to chat with my friends, I'd go to a bar.

As big as a film aficionado that I am, I'm ashamed I've never been to a drive-in.  The idea of it seems so..cheesy and '70s.  After all, I'm from the generation of THX, IMAX, 3D, and D-Box. West Wind has another drive-in in Concord, but their movie selection isn't as great due to their limited screens.  I made the trek to Sacramento on a Tuesday for a double feature on Family Tuesday.  Admission is generally $6.75 but it's a cheap $4.95 on Tuesday's.

I arrived about 45 minutes before the scheduled start time and there were some movie goers already there but not many.  Upon entering, you can't help but notice all the movie nostalgia from the days drive-ins were popular.  I explored the lobby, which is a real flashback to the '70s and hasn't been updated since.  Concessions are cheaply marked and Hot Dogs and Ice Cones were both under $2.  I saw a bundle deal including a Large Popcorn and two drinks for $13.  The sauna of a lobby gets hot pretty quick, so you pretty much wanna go in and out.  The bathrooms are located in this building, so be sure to go before going to your designated drive-in.

As for the movie viewing experience itself, sound quality is average as its transmitted via FM frequency.  The sound is far from DTS or Dolby Digital but isn't too bad of an experience.  The actual video isn't too bad either.  The screens project a reasonable picture; however, the moment anyone turns their headlights on, it greatly affects the picture.  Fortunately, people are pretty considerate and security patrols the grounds.

All in all, a cool experience on a summer night or for a back to back showing of two movies you want to see.  80s babies such as myself were never introduced to drive-in's and requires an experience before they disappear altogether.

    Pros:
Extremely Cheap ($5 for 2 Movies)
BYOB&F (Bring your own booze and food)

    Cons:
    Audio & Video Quality

    Advice:
Bring some folding chairs if you want to sit outside your car.

Now that the drive-in has a new ownership I hope the threats of them closing has passed. The drive ins are such a fun experience.

For years, as a child, my family and I went to this theater. Somewhere along the way, albeit I forgot or was disenchanted by them, I stopped going. This summer, I've gone twice and both times it was a great experience. I really dig the prices, the ability to bring in food and even my pooch gets major kuddos. I will keep going back.

Hope everyone will continue to support one of the last drive-in movie theaters.

While I am torn by the nostalgiaof an old drive-in movie theatre and the fact that this is the last one that I am aware of between here and the central coast I cannot stand watching movies here. I can never see the movie clearly on the screen. It's the light pollution I'm sure but it just doesn't make for a good experience. On the other hand, if you are with a group of people it can be a fun time.

I have not gone in a long time. It's mostly just a memory of childhood unfortunately. I think I'll keep it that way.

The consessions are gross and the restrooms even grosser. :(

I love the drive in, I mean, what more is there to say. My boyfriend and I go just about every other week and not because its anything special, but because its cheap. For the two of us, for two movies, it comes to about $14 total ($6.95 a person). That's almost as much as it is for one person for one movie at the "regular" movie theatre. If you go on Tuesdays, its even cheaper ($4.95).

Like many other people have said, arrive early. If not, you're stuck waiting in a ridiculously long line. Like others have said as well, I encourage using the farthest left lane. It seems to go quickest.

Bring blankets. Even on warm summer nights, towards the second movie, it gets kinda chilly outside. I also recommend bringing your own snacks and drinks. Our first time we came we went to the concession stand and bought two sodas, a big popcorn, and two candies and it was close to $25. This last time I went to the dollar store and stocked up on lots of candies, chips, and sodas for $8. Hahah.

I also recommend seeing a movie that might have a lot of day scenes. Its a drive in, the lighting is poor. Night scenes are very difficult to see as they don't contrast well. We saw Cowboys & Aliens (that's an entirely different review) last night and a majority of the movie took place at night. It was very hard to see.

I love that the sound of the movie comes from your car speakers. Its like surround sound when I'm all snuggled in the hatch of my car. (:

Great inexpensive date idea or even a family night out! I think kids below 5 are free and 5-11 (maybe 12, not sure) are only $1!

It's way crowded, takes forever to get through, but I LOVE IT! Personally, I think watching a movie outdoor at night is charming. $6.95 other nights and $4.95 on Tuesdays for two movies! What a deal (compared to ~$10 per ticket per movie...unless you movie hop) Now, if you're a princess and have to be within a close structure, like the AC blasted, need a restroom within 15 ft, and must have a fully stocked snack shop...oh, and hate long lines, this isn't the place to come.
If your car battery dies, don't worry, they've got a jumper box.

My sweetheart and I spent a long weekend together in Sacramento the weekend before my birthday, which we have to spend apart. He decided we should celebrate my birthday the last day of the weekend, and took me to the Sacramento 6 drive-in after a nice lunch and a trip to the dog park.

I had never been to a drive-in movie before and it was great. Maybe the most perfect date ever. We cuddled up with snacks and a blanket. The audio was just fine over the FM radio and the picture seemed good to me. (It's a good idea to clean your windshield, first.)

The drive-in is super cute, too: Really retro. I wished I had brought my camera. On Tuesdays, they offer a reduced ticket at five bucks, and it'll cost you seven the rest of the week. It's well worth it!

This place reminds me of my childhood. The first time I went to a drive in movie, I saw Bambie (sp?) and ended up peeing on my mom.

Now, I don't pee on anyone anymore, but I still like the feel of car seats, seeing the big screen and smelling the fresh air right outside my window.

Lots of things have happened to me at the drive ins -- they are a part of my collective youth memory.

I have never been to a drive-in theater before. Last night was my first time.  And I really enjoyed it.

Like other reviewers said..ARRIVE EARLY.  We intended to arrive an hour early but that didn't happen and we found ourselves waiting in line (bumper to bumper traffic) for a very long time.  When we got to the ticket office, I realized why.  One person was manning two lanes of traffic. Not very efficient.

The cool thing is that once you get past the sign with the movie titles you can start seeing some of the screens.  My boyfriend and I started scanning radio stations until we found one for a movie we could see (in this case, it was the Smurfs) and sort of watched it while in line.  We were going to see Cowboys vs Aliens and when we could see the screen for that, we scanned the radio again until we found the right frequency.  So although we finally got to our lot like 30 minutes into the movie, we heard most of the dialogue and watched a bit of it while in line.

The view was surprisingly good despite being in the back.  I would suggest parking your car in the ":windows" (behind the spaces between parked cars) so that your view doesn't get blocked by any large cars in front of you.  The sound quality was really good since it was coming from your car radio.  And if you roll the windows down, you get a nice breeze to keep you comfortable.

I didn't really explore the concession building only to use the restroom.  I was expecting a line because my male friend told me there was a line in the men's bathroom.  But there was absolutely no line for me.  But then again, I waited to go once the previews for the second movie was showing so that might have made a difference.

Overall, I had a great time.  I would probably go again.  Some helpful hints in the bottom:

***The line for the tickets originally start as three lanes and then branches into two different directions.  I would suggest going in the far left lane in case you get fed up from waiting.  There is only one exit lane and it's right next to the far left lane so you can just turn your car around into the exit lane and leave like I saw some cars do.
***Wait until the previews to use the restrooms to avoid lines.
***It was very hard to see the screen when the movie scene was a night time scene since it's already dark outside.  So I would recommend watching a movie that you know is more bright if that makes any sense at all.
***Bring a blanket, it can get cold.

I watched Cowboys vs Aliens and Green Lantern.  Prices are good.  You can bring your own food.  Basically, I like, :)

Definitely my favorite place to be on a hot summer night. Yea it's cool for nostalgia and whatnot, but even better it's cheap. Bring some chairs, mosquito repellent, snacks and drinks and let the savings begin at $6.75 per person. It's always a double feature unless it's a brand new movie, then they just play the same movie twice.

If you're serious about seeing cool graphics on a good quality screen, just go to the regular theaters. Personally I could care less about "seeing" Transformers in its CGI glory, I just wanna see Shia LaBeouf. Horror films can be too dark to see, but the dark parking lots and the creepy bathrooms create, what I think is, the perfect setting to get freaked out. If it's you're first time going to the drive-ins, I recommend a comedy. You won't be disappointed, its loads of fun. And if you're like me, eventually you have to watch it again because you got so stoned the first time that you can't remember all the funny parts people talk about.

Which leaves me to my last point, that this place is perfect for stoners, because no other theaters let you smoke a blunt during the movie and it doesn't hurt your pockets when the munchies kick in, just be sure to make a stop at the gas station on your way!

Cool spot for "date night", or any other time that the actual "movie experience" is secondary.  Quite frankly, the audio quality was poor via the FM transmitter, and the video quality was, well, I guess what you'd expect when viewing an outdoor screen through your vehicle's windshield.  Oh, and to make things more interesting - regardless of any inclement weather (think heavy rain) - the show must go on!

Despite those, ahem, setbacks, the Sacramento 6 is a FUN time out.  Especially when you're more interested in the company you're with, then the show on screen.

The snack-bar has your standard movie fare, and the restrooms were relatively clean.  The double-features are a nice touch, too.  Overall, definitely a worthwhile experience, and somewhere I'd like to revisit (next time when it's not raining though).

I've been wanting to get the Drive-In experience for sometime now and I finally got the chance to go and I loved it!

My friend and I arrived about an hour early and got good parking. Driving into the dirt road I was a little hesitant but I was just excited to be there. We went into the food court area and it was a little old school but definitely how I pictured it. I didn't try any of the food so can't really comment on that but the prices looked reasonable. The place was full of arcade games and very spacious.

Only paying $9.90 for 2 tickets for 2 movies seemed like a steal and wasn't sure how the whole experience and quality would be because it was so cheap. But I have to admit I enjoyed the atmosphere and the overall experience. The movies  and sound were both good quality. i liked how I was in the comfort of my own car and was able to put the sound as high or low as I wanted. The fact that the cars were kinda close and windows were down I thought would bother me while watching but it didn't at all.

Overall I really enjoyed the whole experience and would recommend the drive-in!!

Great place to take the family for a summer evening. You got the big screens, snack bar, jump house and more! The overall crowd is pretty nice. There's a mixture of families and couples but mostly families. The popcorn is pretty good and fresh. I'm not sure about the other food because we brought our own.

But yea, it's a nice change to watch the movies under the dark sky with the delta breeze.. So bring your lawn chairs, blankets, food/drinks, pillows and have a great time!

One of the best ways to watch a movie on the big screen as far as I am concerned.  Pack your popcorn, beverages, blankets and family or friends and get your movie on.

You have to get there way before the movie starts if you are going on a Friday and you don't want to sit in traffic for a while.

I love this place.  I love to go to the movies period but with a child in the Autism Spectrum movie theaters just don't work all the time so the Drive-in has become a favorite very quickly.  My son loves it there, enjoys his movie and treats without a problem.  He can sit in the car or we can pull out chairs.

It's cheap, comfortable and practical... what else do you need to have a good movie night?

Oh and by the looks of it... seems like a good place to take a date too ;)

Last time I was here, I believe it costed about $15 a head to get in. No matter.

I thought it was clever that they now have you tune into a station to get the audio, instead of the "mic stations".

However the West Wind drive-in remains an astonishing success story in the face of changing economy, changing technology and the like. It's almost like Rancho Cordova's claim to fame: not only is the existence of an actually servicing drive in movie theater rather remarkable these days, it is, in addition, one of the only places in Rancho Cordova where there is "something to do". To top it all off, it may be the only entertainment-oriented business in all of Sacramento that is able to serve as freeway lighting AND live en medias res film advertising at the same time.

They show movies EVERY EVENING. It's staggering how they stay in business when they only seem to enjoy profitable volume during the weekends. Nonetheless, it's a nice reminder that it is nighttime when you drive by this place on highway 50 and see some of the movies being shown.

Check it out. It will remind you of the 90's for sure!

When I think of drive-in's, I think of 50s era kids making out, bad B movies and a particularly cheesy Bob Seager video. The drive-in hasn't changed much, but the experience that spurred so many to make nostalgic films about it lives on.

When I first came here to see a movie I was quite disappointed. It was raining, the screen was hard to see, we scraped our car on an invisible cement gully, and the people next to us chose to play loud hip-hop throughout the entire third act. It was less a romantic make-out spot and more an exercise in stress-relaxation. But then I realized that everything I wasn't used to was exactly what makes the drive-in so cool. It's a different sort of communal movie going experience. And the memories of who I was there with were more important than what was on the screen.

When the good weather kicks in, make some time to see a movie here. This is the last of a dying breed that may not be around much longer.

Never been in a drive in but it was fun. The sound and the image wasn't bad at all; it was a very fun experience way better than a regular theater in my opinion. The only inconvenient would be if you have a very low to the ground ride.....

This is such a cute place to go. A vary family friendly place and is extremely cheap. You not only get to see the movie you came to see but get a bonus movie after the first. All the snacks are even cheap not like the other movie theaters. Love this place

Classic Americana, This place should be on a historic register.

This place is one of very few still remaining, and every kid should get the Drive-in experience.

Ya it's not the best sound or picture but it's the experience.

And how can you beat sitting in the back of your truck on a mattress with sleeping bags and pillows? It's like camping with out all the effort and in 2 hour doses.

    Great fun!

We pulled in a few months ago just because my husband had never been to a drive-in movie. Outrageous! I was a bit worried as we approach (with 15 mins to the start-time) because the entry line was ENORMOUS! It went slowly, but surely, and it didn't matter which stream you were in. They all lead to the all the movies.

Because we were a little tardy due to the long entry, we had to park in the back for our movie (a double-feature of The Good Guys and Inception ((and nope, I have no idea why those two are considered a likely pairing))). Watching the movie was really easy. You listen to the movie through your radio which is good because since the movie lot is right next to the interstate, if you had to have your windows open the ambient drone would drive you crazy.

The snack/bathroom lounge gets swamped with people during intermission. Didn't get any snacks (although they seemed pretty standard), but the bathroom (which had a looong line) was clean and large.

It was a fun, inexpensive night and I will definitely be headed back this summer. Where else can you see 1st run movies for under $7?

I actually going to the drive in instead of the movie theatres.  They have a good price.  It's $6.95 for two movies and $4.95 on Tuesdays.  Sitting in your car with a pillow and blanket is way more confortable than sitting in a sucky chair that you can't lean back on.

Something I do not like about this place are the roads.  There are wayyy too many potholes which can get pretty annoying driving.  Also sometimes the wait can be pretty long about a 20 min wait.  They also need to refill their soap in their bathroom.  For the cleanliness, I would give them 2 stars.

It's a great place to take your kids or just go on a date. (:

This theater has a serious communication problem--if there are any problems, instead of telling customers, they seem hide in their booths like turtles and wait it out.

On Saturday, we went 15 minutes early to see the late showing of Super 8. We got in line and immediately noticed no movement whatsoever. We ended up sitting in line (there was no way to leave due to bumper to bumper traffic) for 1 hour and during that time not a single employee came to inform anyone of the situation. When we did finally get to the booth, they said that they were trying to clear traffic out of the theater--an understandable reason. However, they were not delaying any showing and there were no discounts. Our movie had been playing for 30 minutes and they expected us to be ok with that plus pay full price.

The overall complaint here is communication--let us know what is happening and normal people will understand--no communication leads to angry patrons who will not return.
