We stayed at the West Sonoma Inn for 2 nights in a Courtyard Suite. It was great and if I return to Guerneville I would definitely stay there. This place is really relaxing, romantic, perfect for a couple of days spent tasting wines, laying out by the pool or nearby Russian River (like 5 blocks away), and then drinking more wine on your private patio after dinner at a local restaurant. There is also a nearby Safeway so you can get some snacks and just hang out in your suite or on your patio.

The people there are really nice and helpful - the front desk guy (Jerome) helped me try to find a wine tour to go on and was not at all irritated when I decided against it based on price ($250 for 2 people for 3 hours not including tasting fees). He then recommended 3 local wineries (Harvest Moon was by far the best) within driving distance and was super pleasant about everything. This hotel is within walking distance to Guerneville which is a tiny tiny town. It's not really out in the country as the "on 6 acres" might indicate, but our private balcony was  very private. No real view, just some brambly underbrush but we saw some deer and a couple of bluejays. The sitting room is nothing to write home about, more a mini-bar with a couch, but the bed was super comfortable. Awesome pool with some beautiful really tall trees.

The bad: They're maybe not quite done renovating, there are some wires on the wall above the TV that detract from the luxuriousness of the room. There is no AC as mentioned elsewhere but we went in August, highs were like mid-90s and at night with the windows open and fan on we were fine.

Overall yes! Loved it.

Very lovely little place.  The staff is extremely nice.  We stayed here 2 nights and enjoyed our deck looking over the redwoods.  The room was quaint and clean.
That said if you are a 4 seasons or high-end spa sort of person, this place will probably not be your cup of tea.  You may find the furnishing and decor a bit too cheapy for your liking. that said, my husband & I found this Inn to be charming and would probably stay again if in the area.

The West Sonoma Inn has a lot of nice touches to it.  There are plates, wine glasses, etc. in every room along with a small refrigerator so you can put snacks and drinks in it.  Free wi-fi and very comfy beds with featherbeds.

The rooms have a small deck so you can sit outside if it's nice enough to drink a glass of wine and look at the vineyards or other sights.

Our room looked almost brand new as evidenced by no marks on anything.  Indeed, there is nothing on the walls which gave it a bit of an austere look.

Rates vary according to the season.  The Inn isn't far from another resort, the Woods which we could hear the sounds of a celebration coming from, but it eventually quieted down.

It's also a quick walk to the nearby Safeway if you forget something or want to avail yourself to the taco truck on the Safeway parking lot.  They have the best tacos around which is another review.

***WARNING - REPEAT REVIEW DUE TO LOST PASSWORD***

It was one of those not-too-far from home kind of getaways that seem to be way too infrequent, but when I found the West Sonoma Inn through some quick research, I knew I had found our destination.

Jools and I just got back home this morning after spending two days at this lovely inn, and I can gladly report that they do indeed have phones in the rooms, along with HDTV, two person spas, kitchens, insanely soft beds, and if you're lucky enough to get one, a room with a vineyard view. I recall reading one review in which someone groused over the fact that the vines hadn't yet grown to the point of being visible from her deck, and that all she could see were the posts. Well, that is kind of the way it works, once grapes are planted it takes some time for the vines to grow.

On to something a bit more interesting. Picture yourself in a two-person jetted tub, under the darkening Sonoma sky, the first stars of the night starting to peek out, and frogs singing their tune at the vineyard's edge. Now you have a clear picture of what the West Sonoma Inn offers.

Of course, you will want to make the four mile trek westward to Sophie's Cellar to procure a bottle or two of Pinot Noir and some cheeses for your evening (consider the 2005 Atascadero Creek Pinot Noir - Railroad Vineyard), and prepare to just unwind.

For those concerned about access to wine tasting from the West Sonoma Inn's Guerneville location, it is a simple jaunt eastbound on River Road, left on Wohler Road (turns into Westside Road), and you have reached Pinot Paradise!

Okay, so back to the West Sonoma Inn. If you are looking for a genuinely laid back lodging option in western Sonoma County, this is your best bet. The price, while not cheap, is well worth it considering the comfort and features of the rooms. Their is an on site spa that can handle your massage needs and according to Jools, they are quite good!

So, venture forth, have a relaxing time and don't forget to let yourself take a good long star gazing. The night sky in Guerneville is stunning.

The location is great. Rates are probably fitting for the area but it felt overpriced to us. The walls and decor are very bare and could use some color and a soft touch. When we checked in to our room it was 50 degrees which was not pleasant at all. There is a gas fireplace to heat the room but it took two hours for the room to get up to a comfortable temperature. When I told the front desk man about this and suggested he turn the heater on for other coming guests he didn't seem concerned, he said they usually warm the room for guests but must have missed ours. Also, we were there two nights and our wifi never worked. Again, when I told the man at the front desk he seemed unconcerned. That said, the location is great and the bed is comfy.

We stayed in the Junior Vineyard Cottage Suite in December. The cottage was more like a "portable" so there weren't very many windows, but the view from the tub/sliding glass door was nice. The hot tub in the room was nice and convenient but I think I like being in a tub outside. The suite was very clean and the bed was comfy.

The staff at the Inn was friendly and the "great room" at the main building looked like it would have been nice place to hang out if we had more time.

Nice clean room, looked newly renovated. LOVED the fireplace and affordable prices. The massage was too light, but relaxing enough.

Stayed here over for a couple of nights in August. The cottage suites do not look very impressive from the outside, but inside they are fairly nice -- complete with hot tub, nice shower, bedding, fireplace......

The view was pretty nice, but think we had one of the better views.

As others have noted, the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Overall, given the price (almost 300 a night) I expected a bit more the than the West Sonoma Inn delivered.

We rented a Vineyard Double Queen Room.  There was a small, yet adequate kitchen with a fridge, electric stove top, microwave, pots and pans and glassware.  The room was very clean and spacious.  The shower was a bit small.  The view was nice, although the vineyard was not directly in front of us.  It was more to the far right.  We could see it, but our room (as well as every other room with a "vineyard view," since we were closest to the vineyard) only had a partial view.

The only real ding on the place is the fireplace heater.   It was a nice touch, but didn't do a great job at keeping the room warm and cozy.  It kept it at a tolerable temperature.

Staff was very nice and helpful.

Overall a very pleasant place to stay.

My friends came in from out of town and stayed at the Inn and had nothing but good things to say about the deep tissue massage and their stay.  I would recomend it to anyone that wanted a clean quiet stay.  And its a nice short walk into town.

Nice enough rooms, but for the price, how can an inn...

...not have phones in the rooms?
...impose a big black box on the television screen so that you can only listen to programs?
...list in its book of nearby restaurants the Taco Truck (address:  Safeway parking lot)?

Just back from a 3 night stay at the West Sonoma Inn. We had a double queen room that was quite nice. The fireplace adds a lot to the experience. Great choice of colors in the rooms however the decor was a bit sparce, but totally fine. As we were with another couple we had a kitchen that opened inbetween our rooms with a private patio deck off the rear. Really worked out great. The pool area is quite large with plenty of chaise lounges and chairs. As others have mentioned the prices are a bit high, but having stayed at a number of other locations up around the Russian River this one is probably the newest remodel and in a great location close to the downtown area. The staff was very helpful and friendly.

Stayed here during the 4th of July.  I was aiming for a romantic and relaxing getaway, so I booked one of their vineyard cottage suites.  It was very clean and looked brand new.  There was a sitting area with a couch, a gas fireplace and a kitchen-like area (counter area, sink, fridge, coffee maker) that could have been great if there was a microwave.  The bedroom area had a very nice king sized bed, desk, and a flat screen tv.  I think maybe when they were remodeling, perhaps they had either a armoire or a larger tv in mind because the outlet for the tv cords were up above and behind the tv.  It was a little strange looking.  The vineyard cottage suite comes with a private hot tub on the deck, perfect for two.  And it is quite nice at night, there are so many stars.  It does indeed overlook a vineyard, but there were no grapevines on the poles.  So really, it overlooks a field with sticks.  I loved the shower in this room.  No tub, but that is fine, the shower is great.  Dual shower heads with multiple body sprays.  We took many showers throughout the day.

We also got massages on site in their little massage studio.  Rebecca was our massage therapist.  She is very nice, but good lord does that woman have some strong hands.  I was hurting but came out feeling totally high.  :)

The only bummer about this place is that there is no air conditioning.  And oh my Jesus was it hot.  They do provide nice fans, but still, come on, it's like 100 degrees out there.

So get this, during our first night, sometime around 4 a.m., the power goes out.  We noticed it during a night time bathroom break but just assumed that it would be fine when we were ready to wake up for the day.  Wrong!  No power means no fans.  No fans means hella hot.  F'reals.  Apparently, the entire town was without power because some jerks decided it would be a funny prank to cut the power line.  Real funny, jerkaholic.

Ok, I can see myself rambling on and on, so I am going to cut myself off...but this is a nice place, and the people are very nice.  Navid (I know I am probably misspelling his name, I am sorry) is super sweet and very helpful, and strangely, always around the property.

What a lovely stay  we had.  Our room overlooked a vineyard and we had our own private hot tub on our deck.  I had the best hot stone massage with Kesu!!  My new favorite thing!!  Thank you...

Ridiculously comfortable beds. My bf found this place online, a great deal at about $200/night for a 2 bedroom cottage suite (1 king, 1 queen bed) with a kitchenette (fully equipped utensils/pans/plates/wine glasses, coffee maker, small fridge, nice granite countertops), cable TV, continental breakfast, and bathroom with shower. The bathroom gets a little chilly, and the rooms were a little bare decoration-wise, but still very comfortable and accommodating. Also, the staff were extremely helpful, giving suggestions on restaurants in town. They also called my bf to confirm his reservation within an hour of booking it online (I don't know any places that do that!) This was a wonderful place to stay (though at least a 25 minute drive from wineries); I would come here again.

We spent 3 nights at the West Sonoma Inn. We had a fantastic view of a vineyard and the mountains behind. The inn was very clean and quiet.  We had a special rate that included a bottle of champagne and two 60 minute massages, which definitely added to our experience. The inn was within walking distance to several restaurants, a grocery store, and a place for ice cream. We live in LA so it is nice to be able to walk anywhere, let alone through a small town to walk by the river, or simply to get coffee. Guerneville is remote enough to feel like you are "getting away" but close to many other attractions (The Armstrong Redwoods, Korbel Vineyard, Bodega Bay, etc.) We highly recommend the West Sonoma Inn.

formerly known as brookside lodge, this place has obviously undergone a major remodeling.  everything is new and clean.  the main room at the check-in desk is very nicely decorated and full of comfy looking couches and chairs.  our tub looked as if we were the first guests to ever use it.  our bed was plush and comfy- good for the cold nights around here! with the exception for the couple who stayed next-door to us and came back to their room at 3am to have the loudest night of sex i have heard in a long time, it's very quiet.  there is a large grassy area surrounded by redwood trees with picnic tables on the grounds. looks like a nice place to have a picnic or share a bottle of wine in the afternoon (when it's warmer and drier anyway).
one star from 5 because we do not have any cell phone reception (i suppose that's the point of getting away for the weekend) and there is no phone in our room.  the front desk is nice, and they are more than happy to make dinner reservations for you.  the wall heater can also be annoying when you are trying to sleep- if you know it's going to be cold, upgrade your room to a suite with a fireplace instead.
the inn is also within walking distance of some eclectic restaurants and shops.  if you are looking for something cheaper when visiting the russian river area, but without that "motel look and feel" i highly recommend staying here.

affordable! stayed here for three nights so far.. a two bedroom cottage with one bath and a small kitchen area. well designed, simple, clean and furnished with fluffy beds! all for $200 a night, which is really f*en cheap considering we had a hell of time finding anything under $200 a night for even a one bedroom hotel/motel/holiday inn.. for labor day weekend.
service has been terrific so far also.. an extremely accomidating staff. they lent us a toaster and came to fix a loose cabinet.. on the double, no questions asked. lovely people. my only quarrel with this place is that there is no air-conditioning... any other weekend would probably have been fine but this weekend was scortching hot (mid 90's).. yikes! but in their defense... the rooms are all furnished with ionic fans which work great. :) will definitely be back!
