I had to put my dying cat down - and was really scared of the process. When I called WSAH and inquired about euthanasia, instantly the tone of the lady on the phone changed, and she was super soft and empathetic which was exactly what I needed.

She talked slowly, and calmly and gave me all of the information I would need.  This wasn't our normal vet, I actually called them on accident, but because they were so nice, we went ahead with them.  And I am SO glad we did.  All of the staff made it a positive, albeit sad, experience - but everyone treated us so well - and the doctor (female) was amazing. She was so nice, so calm, gave us time to spend with our kitty and made the process so much easier.  We will now make this animal hospital our regular vet because of the experience we had.

We will never go back to the other place.

A few days later, the animal hospital sent me a card in the mail signed by the whole staff - wishing me condolences.  What a great thing to do (and a great business model too!).

THANK YOU WS Animal Hospital.  You really know how to treat animals AND people very well.  You've gained a new client.

This place impresses me more and more every time.  The doctors we have had have not just been great with the animals, but with us too.  They explain things in detail and provide honest assessments.  This last time we were in (our puppy had acute vomiting and diarrhea), the doctor clearly explained what might be wrong, what she recommended, and how much each item would cost exactly.  She even left the room when my wife and I talked it over.  We decided to just go with the minimum course of action and not spend the money on the extra tests.  The vet was great and never pushy about excess procedures.

They are open 7 days, which is great too.  Their prices are reasonable, and the staff is really wonderful.  I can't recommend these folks highly enough.

They're amazing! We just moved to Seattle from California and I am very paticular about my puppies. I felt right at home and they did a fabulous job when it came time to get my yorkie/maltese mix fixed.  I would HIGHLY recommend them and love that they send reminders for updates on shots. Thank you to everyone @ West Seattle Animal Hospital.

They do a great job with my two puppies.  We have been in for all the usual stuff plus allergies and one case of the runs.  WSAH is full of caring and kind people from the folks at the front desk to the doctors & nurses.  They have always been gentle to my dogs.  Both my dogs were neuter there.  They recovered quickly and without any complications. As with anything, its important to ask questions of your pet's health care professionals.  The folks at WSAH are ALWAYS happy to help and give clear answers. I am very HAPPY with the care they have received at WSAH!
THANK YOU WEST SEATTLE ANIMAL HOSPITAL!

P.S.
The Other thing I LOVE is that they are OPEN 7 days a week! VERY HELPFUL!

We had adorable adopted guinea pigs for several years-
Macaroni and Cheese. Macaroni was the long-haired one, perpetually in a cranky mood, but always up for conversation.

Cheese has thinning hair and something weird going on with his front claws, he stayed angry with us for years after trying to make him walk around in a large purple ball.

It's a hard job taking care of elderly guinea pigs but with vets like the ones at WSAH, you won't be spending a fortune in money and tears trying to meet your animals' needs.

West Seattle Animal Hospital was wonderful whenever our little ones needed check ups.

The only reason I started going to West Seattle Animal Hospital was because the dog I had just adopted, Dugan, was taken there by his previous owners. I figured for his benefit I'd keep him at this vet. I haven't regretted my decision yet. I even started taking my cat there.

The staff is great and they willingly and easily changed my name as the new owner of Dugan. Every time I've had to bring Dugan in they act so happy and give him puppy talk. My dog is a bit nervous when he walks into the office but quickly calms down due to the staff's enthusiasm. The office is always clean and in pristine condition. It even has a pleasant smell which is hard to keep with animals coming in and out all day. They are open seven days a week which is highly convenient.

You do get reminders for shots your pet needs or for their annual check-up. I've even gotten postcards for my cat to get a spa day which includes a bath and nail and other services my cat would not like at all and I don't know any cat that would but its a cute idea.

As far as prices go I think they compare to almost any other vet. Pet owners already know that taking care and maintaining the well being of their furry love is not cheap. I suppose you could price shop but I don't know if you'd find much difference.

I really like West Seattle Animal Hospital. I think you and your pet will too.

I have been using the West Seattle Animal Hospital since June of 2008.  They are awesome ... The best medical care for a dog in the area ... The entire staff is honest, caring, and very competent ... Dr Gomez deserves 6 stars ... I strongly recommend this facility for your dogs health, 6+ stars ... yes, they are a bit expensive, (not to expensive though), but even factoring in the costs, they are WORTH EVERY $ THEY CHARGE!

Very nice and abundantly competent

Our Shirley started vomiting and pooping liquid after escaping and presumably eating a bunch of trash. We used to go to the Green Lake vet, but their stingy hours drove us closer to home at the West Seattle Animal Hospital. They fit us in with an hour's notice, which was perfect.

The visit was relatively routine. The vet was really thorough and very competent, both in handling (our dog is a spazz) and medicine. She suggested way more than was justified, including an expensive blood analysis and x-ray, but I talked her out of it unless Big Shirl's condition persisted. In the end, we left with a stomach-soother, an antibiotic, and some bland canned food to mix with white rice for the next few days. The visit was $171, which is pretty good.

No word yet on whether Shirley lives or dies, but the office staff was nice and sufficiently competent to warrant a nod. Every other vet office I've been to has been much less professional and organized, and it's nice to see this office making good use of smart people.

Bottom Line: This is my new go-to vet. They really impressed me right out of the gate.

Hubby and I ended up here after jettisoning our previous veterinarian - best decision we ever made, at least in terms of our dogs' health care. The staff is professional and competent; the facility is clean and our doc is incredibly on the ball. He takes time to listen, and offers options (and explanations) rather than simply telling us what we should do.

Recently, we brought one of our dogs in for a routine blood draw, and the nurse noticed that her face was sagging on one side (turned out that she had an inner-ear problem, no big deal); since there was the possibility of something more serious, a doc came in immediately, did additional tests (not pricey - another $90), and explained the situation in full detail. I was impressed that their staff was that quick to catch something that we had missed (and we're obsessive about our dogs), and even more impressed that they made dealing with it a priority, even though we were only there for a quick visit.

All in all, I can't recommend West Seattle Animal Hospital more highly. If quality of care and professionalism are important to you, this is the place for West Seattle pet owners!

I love that they send me reminder postcards so I know when to bring my cat in for shots.

When I got her fixed, this was the most reasonable place to go.

Also, they are very humane... when people had me convinced I should have my cat declawed they talked me out of it (without concern to make an extra buck on their part).  They also pointed me to a local pet shop for cheaper solutions to the scratching problem (I use SoftPaws now).

We've taken our 2 great danes here for over 5 years.  We've had every thing from allergies, to dog park rough play wounds, severe laceration from a dog park outing that involved a downed tree and a branch that was like a bayonette that tore off muscle in one of their legs, to removal of cancerous/noncancerous tumors.

The staff is very friendly and works well with our dogs, both rescues and freaks sometimes.  I've even had a staff member pet sit for us when I was in a bind.

As always in the health industry, I think you have to be an aware consumer and do the research.

After I moved to West Seattle from California, I started bringing my two cats here on a coupon. They are open seven days a week without additional weekend charges I have seen some places.  We have seen most of the vets here, but in particular Dr. Johnson and Dr. Quincy. They are gentle and thorough and always take time to answer questions, explain options and treatments, and I have found staff helpful in giving price estimates for planning out my cats' health care. Front desk people, nurses, all staff are caring too and everyone here seems to love animals! They have people that come in for some specialized things like ultrasounds and cardiology, and refer out for more complex operations. I finally lost my two old kitties, and one of them I had put to sleep here. They were very compassionate, explained everything, and gave us plenty of time alone to say goodbye. They have also been very helpful assessing and treating my new shelter & rescue kitties who each had different problems when they came to me.

Once or twice I have felt an individual missed something or I disagreed with a charge, but this has been more than compensated for by their long-term competence, caring and flexibility. If your medications are not time-urgent, check whether you can buy from Amazon, or even Costco or a drugstore, as most vets are pricier to buy medication from. If money is not an issue and convenience is, buy here and help support the great vets, super staff, and nice facilities, all of which cost beaucoup bucks!  If you haven't been to them before, check out the coupon for a free first exam in the coupon book "The Best Of Alki/West Seattle."

We got off to a little bit of a bumpy start with West Seattle Animal Hospital, but since then we've had good experiences.  Took the pooch here for a vaccination and they were very sweet with her, the nurse had a pocket full of treats, and provided excellent care.

They are open on Saturdays and Sundays which is very nice for those of us who work during the week.  Friendly staff and it's always been easy to get an appointment here.

We changed to West Seattle Animal Hospital after a household move from Tacoma to Seattle; leaving our old vet behind --- only to discover our vet had also relocated to West Seattle - how excellent is that! She is a very competent doctor and one that shows she is in the animal health care business because she really loves animals. Our little 'fraidy-cat' boy kitty is  just as calm and sweet and comfortable with the Dr. as he is at home with us for every visit. They have reasonable prices and good doctors that truely care about the welfare of our pets. :o) We're happy to give them our business.

They saved my cat's life.
Not only did they save my cat's life, but when I brought her in for a follow up? Everyone who had worked on her came to say hello. And when I have brought her back since? They all remember her.

The other thing? It was only after the fact that I realized how close my cat was to dying. They were so calm and reassuring.

I tear up as I write this. Tell them Pywhakit sent you.

My three cats all go to WSAH.  While they are expensive, they are good.  Started going here when another WS vet got the medications mixed up for my cats... giving Pepper what Cody was supposed to get.... Do not have that problem at WSAH.

I just moved to West Seattle from Lynnwood. When I called to set up an appointment for my cats to get their nails cut, I told the guy on the phone that one of my cats is very aggressive when she gets her nails cut and asked if they could still do it. He said yes. I told him that she also had some nails that grew between her toes and one that was two nails fused together and was difficult to cut. I asked if they could still do it. He said yes. Well I went in today for their appointment (which I arrived right on time to) and they had me wait for 20 minutes. When they came back the vet told me she couldn't cut all of my aggressive cat's nails. I told her that I had asked when I called about that and her excuse was, "well she started hissing even before we tried to cut her nails." She's a cat!!! They're supposed to be running an animal hospital! Anyway, when I asked her if she at least got the problem nails, she told me she hadn't even seen any. (There is one on each paw) So then she told me that they could put her under anesthesia and then try to cut the rest of them. Hmm... I wonder how much that would cost me? By then I told her that the previous place I took her to never had a problem cutting her nails and never even suggested I have her placed under anesthesia to get a nail trim. They charged me full price even though they didn't do the whole job. I didn't make a big deal out of it though and paid for it anyway. Now I have to make another appointment and I guess I'm just going to have to drive to Aurora when they need a nail trim. If you're a busy person, I wouldn't go here because apparently they don't care about wasting your time.

Took my dog in for a routine teeth cleaning, last done two years prior.  The preliminary exam found he had excellent teeth and we considered putting off the cleaning for a year.  Went ahead anyway.  Big mistake, as after the fact I was informed they pulled five teeth.  No second opinion possible.  Not even offered a can of dog food (after paying $500) since he cannot chew.  I am not convinced that revenue was not a motivation for pulling the teeth.  Poor "bedside" manner.  I could be wrong about this, but nevertheless I will avoid this establishment in the future.

amazing animal hospital.  our dear little pup came down with a terminal illness about a month back, and being new in town, we took him to the place closest to home, WSAH.  dr. montgomery is amazing, as is the rest of the staff...  they were so thoughtful and wonderful about getting him in on short notice.  nothing but great experiences, and dr. m. called often to check on how we were doing with our little guy.  i'm so glad we found WSAH and will plan on going there with all of our animals in the future!

Very expensive and relentless with the phone calls and junk mail.  I took in 5 abandoned and sick kittens one needed iv fluid and they all needed medication.  I was charged $250 just for the exam.  A full exam fee for each kitten.  Foolish of me for not asking first but I was completely shocked at the desk.  Then every six months they send me shot reminders and call me almost two years later.  I've told them to stop several times.  If they didn't send out all the junk maybe they could lower their prices.
